Translation
Forget the gloomy or easy-peasy Cosmopolis and A Dangerous Method, Cronenberg is back to his domain of preference: rough, trashy with crazy characters and a hypnotizing atmosphere. Maps To The Stars is like a reborn for his filmography. Is it because for the first time he endorses the pamphlet's codes in this dark and incandscent representation of Hollywood where the false pretences are set as a moral code.

A family of nutcases, a star's comeback, a young roquet, a pyromaniac schizo-poet or a young limousine drive with a predatory smile who fucks in the backseat: Cronenberg feasts on these crazy characters and this culture of appearances in a very passionate movie. Maps To The Stars is raw and hypnotic, between reality and fantasy, dreams and nightmares. Until an icy and violent ending pursued with surprising events.

Mia reveals her "poisonous flower" side, Robert Pattinson shows he's more than a pretty face and Julianne's through the roof with what will become THE performance of a career which is already brilliant. Just like Cronenberg who renews with this twisted , distinguished and intelligent cinema.

"Robert Pattinson Is A Fantastic Actor With Phenomenal Range" ~ Tom Ue (World Film Locations Author)

Back in February we told you about a publication called 'World Film Locations Toronto' By Tom Ue which featured none other than Robert Pattinson as Eric Packer on the cover.

 photo Torontocover1-1.jpg

Now, Tom has been interviewed by tribute.ca and was asked how he chose Rob and Cosmopolis to feature on the cover. Here's what he had to say (*whispers* I think you're gonna like it)

How did you choose Robert Pattinson/Cosmopolis for the cover?

Early in the production process, we knew we wanted to showcase David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis both because it is a great Cronenberg film and because it emblemizes some of the key themes about identity and representation that the book explores. Robert Pattinson’s links to Canadian cinema and Toronto as a city are further realized through his starring in Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars (2014) and Anton Corbijn’s Life (2015). He is a fantastic actor with phenomenal range.
Yes we agree with you 100% Tom. He IS a fantastic actor with phenomenal range!

Robert Pattinson to work with Olivier Assayas? "Let's hope so..."

UPDATE: Another mention from a different interview added below
Robert Pattinson to work with Olivier Assayas? "Let's hope so..."

It looks like Rob has got another esteemed director lined up...Olivier Assayas!

 photo RobOlivier.jpg

The rumor comes from an interview Assayas conducted with French newspaper, "The Inrocks". Pattinson Art Work has provided a translation of the interview but the French version follows directly after:
 photo 0033.jpg
Translation: "I see that in the United States, especially since the success of 'l'Heure d'été' and 'Carlos', I gained a relative notoriety, which sharpens the curiosity of some actors. In my next film, for example, will included Robert Pattinson."
That's awesome. Rob is pretty entrenched in the auteur, independent film circuit now. And a bit of trivia, do you remember the last time we mentioned Assayas on the blog? These guys were having a bit of fun with Rob's fandom but Rob was there with buddies Tom Sturridge and Johnny Flynn (Flynn was in Assayas' Something In The Air). Now I wish those guys had eavesdropped on some conversations with Rob and Olivier. We know the collaboration was welcomed in 2012....

The film Rob might be in isn't specified but Variety has some information on Assayas' next film, HUBRIS - his first shot in the US. It'll be "an action-packed crime thriller set against the backdrop of organized crime in Chicago in the 1970s." Oh YES PLEASE!

Assayas will write the script. "Inspired by an article by journo Hillel Levin, “Hubris” turns on a gang of thieves led by notorious mastermind John Mendell who rob a pawn shop only to discover it is a front for Chicago’s most brutal crime boss, Tony Accardo."

GAH. We'll keep a look out to see if this is the one Rob might be involved in.

"Robert Pattinson Has A Treasure Of Unexploited Talent" ~ David Michod

"Robert Pattinson Has A Treasure Of Unexploited Talent" ~ David Michod

Well there's no doubt that David Michod is a big Robert Pattinson fan and I think this excerpt of his interview on Page 11 of the French Press Kit for The Rover where he talks about casting Rob provides even more evidence of that.
What he said about him will surely bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.

How did you choose your actors ?

I had Guy Pearce in mind since the beginning. We needed a man who was his age , who had a quiet and mysterious strength, who had his talent and his extraordinary attention for details. I didn't forget the pleasure I had working with him on Animal Kingdom. Rob (Pattinson) came later on. We met, I appreciated him a lot and then, he did some screen tests for me, awesome tests, full of life, never forced or artificial and then it was done. And there's something very exciting to have the opportunity to show to the whole world that a star, who was understimated and reduced to a certain image, has in fact a treasure of unexploited talent. I quickly notice that Rob is a great actor. And I'm looking forward to everyone seeing that.

If Guy Pearce's character is the «Rover» , how would you define Robert Pattinson's character ?

He's also a «rover.» Guy is a rover meaning he is a "tramp". But in classical english, "rover" is also used as a loving terms to refer to a dog. And Rob follows Guy everywhere, just as a lost dog would do
