Robert Pattinson Fans Will Love “Cosmopolis" - David Cronenberg

It says on this article that Metro.us spoke to David at Cannes but the Questions/Answers are similar to ones we've heard before, except for the last one (which brought a mile to my face)

From Cannes: "Cosmopolis" director talks Robert Pattinson

Cronenberg spoke to Metro before the film's premiere on May 25.

How did you go about adapting Don Lillo’s novel?
DC: “I wrote the script in six days. The first three days I re-transcribed the entire dialogue. The following three I added descriptions for each scene. The monologues going on in Packer’s mind I made into visuals. I am incredibly excited about this film and even more so Pattinson’s performance.” (Kate: So are we David, so are we)

Choosing to Robert Pattinson in the lead role may have come as a bit of a shock for some of your fans…
DC: “Rob is a wonderful actor and I think he will surprise more than a few. Because he’s young, handsome and the star of the “Twilight Saga”, some people have come to the unfair conclusion that he is a bad actor. I am well aware of that. But I can assure you that he is incredible and a very hard worker. I can’t wait to work with him again. In fact, I even told him I would love to cast him alongside Viggo Mortensen in the future.” (Kate: Can I say again how much I LOVE David?)

Have any celebrities contacted you directly to ask if they could work with you?
DC: “Most of the time they tell their agent to tell my agent they want to work with me. Sometimes I ask to work with an actor without knowing if they have ever seen one of my films. That was the case with Rob. (Kate: LOVE this) It just so happened he was very familiar with some of my work. On set (for “Cosmopolis”) I remember he and Juliette Binoche getting into deep conversations about obscure French films. He’s a film fanatic.”

Was hiring him a way of drawing the attention of people that weren’t necessarily ‘David Cronenberg’ fans?
DC: “The moment we confirmed Rob had been cast in “Cosmopolis” everyone started talking about it. I can only hope the public and the critics will like it. On the other hand, those only watching it because they are ‘Twihards’ risk being disappointed. But fans of Rob will love “Cosmopolis.” Once you love an actor, you should be open to appreciating all of their work.”
(Kate: Oh believe me we love him and we are very open to everything he chooses to do)

"The Rover" Gets A US Distributor & A Production Start Date

Well this is good news for "The Rover". It now has A US Distributor. There's also a production start date and more details about the movie below.

From Deadline

FilmNation Entertainment has acquired the majority of worldwide rights to The Rover from Animal Kingdom writer-director David Michôd (Hesher). Michôd has written the script based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby).

This deal marks FilmNation’s migration into the acquisition space after ramping up their film investments and development slate. In addition to a full-fledged international sales arm, the banner now effectively develops, finances, and produces projects in-house as well as acquiring filmmaker driven content.

The Rover is set in the Australian desert in a dangerous and dysfunctional near future. Eric has left everything and every semblance of human kindness behind him. When his last possession, his car, is stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals, Eric sets off to track them down and is forced along the way to enlist the help of Reynolds, the naïve simpleton member of the gang left behind in the bloody chaos of the gang’s most recent escape.

David Linde will produce for Lava Bear Films, while Liz Watts will produce for Porchlight Films. Tory Metzger, President of Lava Bear, will oversee the production for the company. The film will also be produced in association with Blue Tongue Films, the directors collective of which Michôd is a member. Production will begin late 2012 in Australia.

FilmNation Entertainment’s Glen Basner said: “I loved Animal Kingdom and am thrilled to collaborate with such an exciting talent as David Michod. This film represents another big step for FilmNation as we continue to invest in high caliber films. The Rover is going to be one kick ass flick.”

Writer-director David Michôd said: “It’s a pretty clearly encouraging indicator for me with a new project when people of serious smarts and taste want to be involved and be involved early. I really feel like I’ve received that tick of approval in a big way today from the good folk at FilmNation.”

Added producer David Linde: “David Michôd has an incredibly unique voice and style that has already been acclaimed around the world. The Rover continues this style of combining powerful imagery with a story that draws you in from the opening scene. We are very pleased that FilmNation has joined us as our partner in both the US and other places around the globe.”

Producer Liz Watts said: “We are looking forward to working with David once again on The Rover – an international story of iconic proportions, imbued with the distinctiveness of David’s direction and storytelling with an Australian background not seen before. It’s fantastic to be partnering with FilmNation on the film, and together with Lava Bear we are all looking forward to getting into production.”

Territories excluded in the deal are: UK, Latin America, Australia & NZ, Benelux, Scandinavia, Greece, Indonesia, Middle East, Poland, Croatia/Slovenia, Romania/Bulgaria/Hungary, Serbia and Turkey.

FilmNation will represent the U.S. sales with UTA Independent Film Group. The deal was negotiated by UTA Independent Film Group, David Linde and Adam Rymer at Lava Bear and Glen Basner and Alison Cohen at FilmNation Entertainment. The producers were represented by attorneys Nina Stevenson and David Boyle.

Eric Maddox says Robert Pattinson in Mission: Blacklist is a no-brainer and talks about Rob's dedication to the film

Eric Maddox, author of Mission: Black List #1, sat down with WRKO radio and spoke about Rob's involvement in the film. He pays Rob high compliments and mentions he met with Rob for 14 hours to talk about the project. Rob's professionalism and passion for his craft are clear in this interview with Eric. Give it a listen (YouTube is only Rob parts) and let your heart swell.

Click HERE if you'd like to listen to the whole interview. The Rob mentions are after the 11 minute mark and the 22 minute mark. Transcript of the interview is under the cut.

This is so incredibly exciting. I love how dedicated Rob is to his work. We can love his films more knowing how important roles are to him. I love how impressed Eric was as well. :')

Sarah Gadon mentions Robert Pattinson in Cannes Interview

It's ironic what she says and then the fact we only have this excerpt from her interview.

I really like what Sarah is saying here because we all see that machine working every day. Always trying to get our attention since there's information we want about Rob. I wonder if the folks over at Yahoo & The Wrap realize what drove traffic to that 'Hate Mail' article yesterday. The fans have made Rob quite the powerful name...

Excerpt from Yahoo, reporting on the Cannes Film Festival events and Lawless premiere:
[Michael] Benaroya, who co-produced “Margin Call” last year, is fully financing “Kill Your Darlings,” a $4 million thriller with Daniel Radcliffe and Michael C. Hall about young beat poets Allen Ginsburg and Jack Kerouac and a murder.

And he's also financing the $11 million “Hate Mail,” with Scarlett Johansson, Robert Pattinson and Philip Seymour Hall Hoffman. And he executive produced “The Paperboy,” also screening in competition in Cannes.

That's a lot of money to be throwing down. Benaroya, apart from noting that he's only lost money on one movie he's made thus far, said he likes to gamble.

“I'm a serious poker player," he said. "People like to underestimate me: ‘You look 25. You look like a nice guy. I'm gonna take you for everything you've got.' They're often surprised when they don't.”
The always reliable (that was sarcastic) IMDb says the film is slated to film this Spring (isn't Spring over in a month) and the summary is:
A Manhattan-set story centered around people who receive hate mail and the subsequent effects on their relationships.
Benaroya is a producer for Lawless which had its premiere at Cannes today (yesterday on French time). I don't know anything else.....it drives me crazy! This is very fresh...don't go getting tattoos to support the project just yet.
