Anthony Mackie talks about hanging out with Robert Pattinson

Anthony Mackie talks about hanging out with Robert Pattinson

This is TOO funny. I can't tell if he's completely serious or partly serious.

In case you can't view the interview, here's the report from MTV:

File this one under Random Yet Notable. It has come to our attention that our favorite Robert Pattinson and fellow actor/all-around likable guy Anthony Mackie are total BFFs. Well, I'm saying BFFs; they're saying "good friends." The point is, while I like to think everyone knows everyone else in Hollywood, I had no idea Rob and Anthony are bros.

When MTV News caught up with Anthony recently during the press day for his upcoming heist/thriller "Man On a Ledge," talk somehow turned to the subject of vampires and the fact that Anthony wants to be in a sixth "Twilight" movie.

"Rob, a good friend of mine, we were actually hanging out last night. I told him, 'Man, you know I gotta be in that "Twilight: Part Six.'" He told me he's going to look out for me."

Yes, I'm aware that here are currently no plans for a "Twilight: Part Six," but I was too distracted by the revelation about this new celeb bromance to ask more details about that. Instead I asked Anthony how on earth he and Rob became friends.

"Me and Rob have been hanging out forever," he said. "He's a good dude."

In knowing how Rob likes to karaoke with his dude friends, I then asked Anthony if they've ever hit the karaoke bars together or sung duets.

"No, no. I saw him do karaoke. I was a little bit too shy to get up there," Anthony admitted. "He sang this Billy Joel song, that's when we did this Billy Joel, Billy Ocean medley. [It was] really crazy but it worked out."

Even better, Anthony revealed that Rob taught him how to do the all-important Edward Cullen Suspense Look, which he was all too happy to demonstrate for me.

"How's that? It's good, huh? I'm telling you, I'm working on it. There's got to be a black vampire. [We have] sweet blood, come on." (Um, hello! What about Laurent?)

So what does Rob think about Anthony making an appearance in a future "Twilight" movie?

"He's down. We hang out more than we work together," he said. "He's my dude."

And just an FYI, Anthony is also best buds with a couple other favorites: Ryan Gosling (he and The Gos were in the movie "Half Nelson" together, as well as the upcoming "Gangster Squad") and Jeremy Renner (from their work on "The Hurt Locker").
There is too much goodness in this post. I'm still trying to process Afrikaans and now more Rob tidbits we didn't know.

Greece Release Date
UPDATE: From @PattinsonLadies: Hey! I contacted our distributor a few weeks ago & they told me that BA will be released here in summer according to their plans! Only a few Greek movie sites have the release date that you mentioned, but it's not official, yet! I re-sent an e-mail to our distributor (Hollywood Entertainment) and I'm waiting for an answer! I'll let you know!
...
Bel Ami Greek Release Date: Our distributor informed me that 'Bel Ami' is in no way going to be released here in February...This was from an old announcement. In addition they said: "The movie is going to be released in March outside of Greece, so we can't get it here earlier. The release date we have for now is July 2012"

@unpetitpeuK gave us a heads up: February 23, 2012
Greece meets Georges Duroy.

Praise for Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami" In The London Evening Standard

Anne McElvoy praises the well-written "Bel Ami" in her article in the London Evening Standard. Check it out below!

"An eminent film critic has just told me he thinks some of the best writing is now on the small screen, not the large one, and he may well be right. For all its Spielbergian glory, War Horse has a baggy, pedestrian script and can't add much to the National's production. Still, there are signs of intellectual life in the cinema in 2012: the best-written upcoming movie I've seen is the riveting romp of Bel Ami, with Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas in Maupassant's masterpiece.

Again, it succeeds because the original work is both sexy and clever (Kate: Just like Rob) : a plot turning on multifarious adultery, secret plans to invade Morocco and the power of the 1880s press. And, yes, of course we like to watch Uma in a velvet frock-coat, bewitching the arriviste Robert Pattinson as Georges: but we do have to keep half an eye on the machinations of the proprietors and French intentions in Africa to fully enjoy it."

Like a lot of critics, I've done my share of moaning about dumbing down. (Kate: Prepare to do moaning of a different kind when you see "Bel Ami" Anne ;-)) So credit where it is due: this looks rather like the year of dumbing up. Sex on screen is cheering. Sex and sensibility's even better.
