Tyler’s character reminds us of James Dean, where you inspired by him?
Not necessarily. I think it’s a side that every person has. It’s true that this character has something very ‘Rebel without a cause’ about him, but there were other sides of Tyler that interested me, like his arrogant side. He tragically lost a family member and I think that his rivalry and anger towards them it’s because he stopped being the center of attention. I tried to make these things very present when playing the character. There’s a big reason why the James Dean stereotype is still so present to this day, especially among young actors.

What was it like working with Pierce Brosnan? Obviously you guys had to work with certain tension between you. Did it interfere with your relationship with him?
Not at all. There was no real tension. He’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I had no idea what to think of him in the beginning, but he’s very hardworking, and not pretentious at all. We didn’t have a lot off scenes together but he was very kind to me. It was wonderful.

The main characters in the movie seem to appreciate life very much, do you think there’s a lesson for the audience?
One of the things that I liked about the story is that neither of the main characters had the idea that love is supposed to last forever. Thy are both just enjoying the happy moments they are living, and they are very valuable to them, even if they’re very short moments.

Thanks to @TeamEdwardPOV
Thanks to @ unoetitpeuK for telling us that it's just a reprint of this interview

Big Thanks to Ephie for doing this translation for us

In the first question they ask him about when he realised there was hysteria around his name and he says that he did not know how big the twilight books were but when they came back to LA for some reshoots for Twilight there were about 500 fans screaming, girls asking him for his autograph frantically and asking him to bite them.

How does he feel about all this publicity?
Overnight he was not an ordinary man anymore. Talks about the day before the HP premiere when he had a coffee at Leicester square when no one knew who he was. Now total strangers start screaming when they see him. It’s crazy.

Next question is about when he decided to pursue an acting career and he explains how his dad encouraged him to enrol at the acting school to meet cute girls, talks about changing school at 12 and discovering hair gel and says that he loathed homework and acting was the best outlet for him. His teachers used to say that he had potential but was too lazy to realise it.

Does he like interviews?
He replies that he gets nervous and needs to talk constantly to overcome his nerves and says the first thing that comes to his head. He says that the best way to preserve privacy is to not talk to anyone but he has to talk because it’s in his contract.

He idolises (adores) James Dean.

He does not like watching himself on the big screen and he always worries that he will seem fake. Even before he started acting he was worried that he expressed himself in a fake way. Tells the story of a break up when he was a teenager. He tried to pretend he was crying but it was a complete failure and he felt nothing.

Is he afraid of failure?
He replies: “when you feel invincible nothing matters. I realised that after HP when suddenly I was the hottest person in the UK. Afterwards the dust settles and no one cares. It is good to realise that early – in reality no one cares (is interested) in you”.

What does he think will happen after the Twilight Saga is over?
“I don’t know, the thought is a little scary”.

If it all ended today how would he feel?
“I wouldn’t mind. Above all what I want at this moment is to be taken seriously. I do not want to be ashamed of who I am or what I do”.

A Note From Bill Condon To The Twilight Fans

Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland,

I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I'm stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you've probably heard, I've been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit - who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.

I'm pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I've read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine's and Chris's movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine's notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz's companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk - a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for "newborn" status in the universe you've been living inside for a few years now, but a guy's gotta start somewhere. (Kate: Aww Bill, be prepared to be addicted!)

Like many of you, I've always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series DARK SHADOWS, which I followed avidly as a kid. But that alone hadn't been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making GODS AND MONSTERS thirteen years ago, however, I've been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones.

The wonderful world that Stephenie has created has obviously struck a chord with you, and I don't think it's difficult to see why. For me, her characters are simultaneously timeless, yet very modern. Rooted in a beautiful, real landscape with a great sense of place, Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest of the Forks/La Push menagerie, experience emotions that are primal, and universal: desire, despair, jealousy - and it all comes to fruition in BREAKING DAWN. This is a final chapter in the best sense; not just wide in scope and scale, but emotionally charged and intense throughout.

I'm a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys. Really, what could be more fun than that?

Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I'll do my best to answer them. I hope that this will be the first of many occasions I'll get to check in with you as we set to work bringing BREAKING DAWN to the screen. I am excited and grateful to have all of you alongside me for my TWILIGHT journey.

All best,

Bill Condon

P.S. Answer #1: No, there won't be any musical numbers

(Kate: What?? You mean it won't be like this?? Aww bummer I'm SO disappointed! Goz where's the sarcasm font? ;-))
