Chris Weitz Talks Robert Pattinson and New Moon

With New Moon ready to rise in theaters Nov. 20, director Chris Weitz wants it known: He is going to try to make you cry.

"We've tried our best to deliver on the romantic scenes in the film, and I would like to be able to produce more tears than any movie before, if possible," Weitz told PEOPLE at the Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards Monday of capturing moments in the Twilight saga's love triangle. "If we could only weigh them with some kind of cubic tear measure!"

Weitz, who took over the directing reigns from Catherine Hardwicke, admits delivering the passion, thrills and heartache in the hotly anticipated sequel wasn't easily done.

"I've handled it very badly, because I'm extremely envious of Rob [Pattinson] and Taylor [Lautner]," he said laughing. "What I've realized is that they have a very tough job – not just playing the characters that they play, but living lives that are now very much under scrutiny all the time."

He adds, the intense level of attention – including speculation about cast members' love lives – was challenging for everyone. "To be honest, even making the movie is under a tremendous amount of scrutiny now, so that when the cast went back to Vancouver there were cameras everywhere," he said. "Everyone knows where every set is going to be. It goes with the Internet and all the information is out there all the time, and whenever one of them is spotted it's immediately Twittered."(Gozde: I might be twitter crazy but I would never tweet or blogpost a set or cast location. That just ain't right...)

Volvo Offers a Chance to Win Tickets to New Moon Premiere and MEET ROBERT PATTINSON

You know how angry I am that they changed the silver SEDAN Volvo to a black SUV Volvo right? Well now they say it was Stephenie Meyer(the Holy)'s bro that was responsible for it, lol. I'm tired. I accept the black Volvo. My sister got an S40 last week (a silver sedan that Summit can borrow anytime) and it's an amazing car. Plus they are offering you a chance to win tix to the premiere. And for that I will LOVE VOLVO :) Oh and I hope Rob is getting some dough from this endorsement deal as well. As my friend Kim says "Nobody sells Volvo like Edward f***ing Cullen" :))

Volvo is launching an international promotion around "Twilight: New Moon," the second installment of Summit Entertainment's "Twilight" motion picture series, premiering on Nov. 20.

In the romance film, vampire Edward Cullen drives Volvo's XC60 crossover. Volvo's C30 3-door coupe was featured in the first movie, but this is the first of the films in which Volvo is actually marketing around the car's star turn.

"It was a missed opportunity in the first film because the car had actually four minutes in the film, which is unheard of in product placement," says Linda Gangeri, Volvo's national advertising manager. "It did really well without us doing anything, so with the second film we worked with the studio to develop a global program."

Efforts include ads, social media, interactive games on a cross-promotional Web site, and sweepstakes in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

The campaign includes the site WhatDrivesEdward.com, where consumers can enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the film's premier in Los Angeles on Nov. 16, where they will also get to meet the cast.

Peter Facinelli Calls Robert Pattinson: Brooding, Tortured and Solid

Vanity Fair Sat down with Peter Facinelli to talk about New Moon, his career, if he has any tips for the younger saga actors, his interactions with fans on twitter and how his kids handle meeting the TwiCast. Has there been a difference in the way you interact as a cast since you filmed Twilight?

Rob[ert Pattinson] has more security guards hanging around him! [Laughs] Other than that, not really. We really enjoy each other’s company, and we’ve been working so much on this movie that we really haven’t had as much time to hang out with each other. We’re putting in these long hours and then just heading home. Usually we just try to catch dinner with each other then get back up the next morning and do it all over again.

Speaking of family, will you please give me one word to describe each of the Cullen clan actors starting with Kellan Lutz?

Ok. [Laughs] Goofy!
