An Interview with a Vampire
March 14, at the Wal-Mart Saturday morning meeting in Bentonville, Arkansas, Robert Pattinison graced the stage wearing black jeans, a black jacket and a gray t-shirt. His dark hair was styled in his famous "Edward" cut. He seemed a little uneasy addressing the large crowd, but his good nature, and famous smile cut right through the tension and warmed the entire crowd over.Even though he appeared a bit nervous, he was all smiles as he spoke about the upcoming release of the Twilight movie, and the future shooting of New Moon, Stephanie Meyer's second book in the Twilight Saga. He described New Moon as a darker movie than Twilight, and he said that he is "hoping that it will be a little scarier."
New Moon the amazing sequel to Twilight introduces readers to a love triangle between Bella Swan, Jacob Black, and the memory of Edward Cullen. Edward leaves Bella in the beginning of the book, for her safety, and she spirals down into a deep depression. (Spoiler Alert!) It is only towards the end of the book that Bella is reunited with Edward as she tries to save his life from the Ancient Volturi. She risks her life to save his, and they are reunited in love. Hearing Patinson speak about the upcoming film really made me anxious for its release. New Moon promises to be an even better movie than Twilight.
Anyone that has read anything about Rob Pattinson knows he is a serious actor. When asked what he thought about playing a vampire in Twilight, he replied, "He wanted to portray a regular guy that happened to be bitten by a vampire, and that just happened to live forever."
He described his role as Edward Cullen as the "first time that he has played a real masculine character." He referred to Cedric Diggory as "goodie-two-shoes," and to the earlier characters that he had played previous to Cedric as "weirdos." The audience erupted into fits of laughter when he referred to Edward as a more "regular" guy.
Of course, all of Rob's fans know that Pattinson has a great head of hair and a great sense of humor. One question that was asked of him concerned his hair. He was asked if he used mouse or gel to get his famous do. In great Patinson style he replied, "it is mostly because I Robert Pattinson Greets Twilight Fans at Bentonville, Arkansas, Wal-Mart sleep on it, and a bit of grime, and because I sleep upside down at night!" The audience again burst out with laughter.
So, what about the upcoming release of Twilight on DVD? Well, Wal-Mart has plans to have a huge Twilight Party on Friday March 20th. The movie will go on sale at midnight, and you can bet that I will be there. (There's no way my two daughters will miss it!) Twilight merchandise will also be released during the next week and displayed in soft lines.
