“Damsel” opens on June 22.
Two days earlier, star Robert Pattinson will appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Pattinson will be the lead interview guest. “SNL” cast member Pete Davidson, who made news earlier this week for his engagement to Ariana Grande, will also appear for an interview.
Robert Pattinson is learning the hard way that not every woman needs rescuing.
The actor stars in Damsel alongside Mia Wasikowska — a western written and directed by David Zellner and Nathan Zellner that throws into question the craziest things people do for love. Pattinson plays Samuel Alabaster, a pioneer who journeys across the country to be with Wasikowska’s Penelope.
But things don’t go according to plan when he gets there, and Penelope welcomes him with the sight of a shotgun pointed straight at him. In the exclusive clip above, the two face off after Pattinson says he bought her a miniature horse because it’s her favorite animal, but she has something else to say about it.
David and Nathan said Pattinson and Wasikowska jumped into the unconventional characters immediately.
“With Rob and Mia, we liked that they’d never done
roles like this before and that they were excited about the challenges
of the characters and unconventional structure of the film,” the
directors tell PEOPLE. “They quickly dialed into the tone we were going
for, the balance of humor and pathos, and it made our job easy.”

MOVIE NEWS: Robert Pattinson Joins David Michod's 'The King'
Looks like Rob will be joining his old friends from The Roveras The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline & more are reporting that he has joined the cast of David's The King.
Robert Pattinson, Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn and Lily-Rose Depp have joined Timothee Chalamet and Joel Edgerton in Netflix’s upcoming period drama, The King.
David Michod, the director behind Netflix’s War Machine as well as crime drama Animal Kingdom, is helming the production, which begins June 1 in the UK, and wrote the script with Edgerton.
Plan B is producing along with Liz Watts, who produced the Michod’s Animal Kingdom as well as The Rover. Edgerton and Michod are also producing.
According to Netflix, The King is based on Shakespeare’s Henry the IV and V, focusing on a young and disgraced prince Hal (a.k.a. the future King Henry the V) who “inherits the crown and must learn what it means to be a king, guided by his one true friend, Falstaff.”
Chalamet is playing Hal, while Edgerton is Falstaff.
Pattinson will play The Dauphin, who is a French duke; Mendelsohn will play King Henry IV; Depp will portray Princess Catherine, the daughter of the French king who marries Hal; and Harris will step into the shoes of William.
Tom Glynn-Carney (Dunkirk) and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie (Leave No Trace) are also in the movie.
New footage of Robert Pattinson in Damsel as the website goes live!
Ooooo this is nice! Check out the official Damsel website at DamselMovie.com! The trailer releases tomorrow so we'll be sure to post that as soon as it's live.
The site currently has the above running loop of new footage and a story description:
It’s the age of The Wild West, circa 1870. An affluent pioneer, Samuel Alabaster (Robert Pattinson) ventures deep into the American wilderness to reunite with and marry the love of his life, Penelope (Mia Wasikowska). For his journey he brings Butterscotch, a miniature horse intended as a wedding present for his bride, and enlists drunkard Parson Henry (David Zellner) to conduct the ceremony. As they traverse the lawless frontier their once simple journey grows treacherous, and the lines between hero, villain, and damsel are blurred.
A loving reinvention of the western genre from the Zellner brothers (Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter), DAMSEL showcases their trademark unpredictability, off-kilter sense of humor, and unique brand of humanism.
The film opens in the US June 22nd and you can sign up on the website for screenings and offers.
