Emilie De Ravin Tells Hitfix about Her Screen Test For "Remember Me" With Robert Pattinson

Emilie de Ravin's role as Claire in the TV series "Lost" has lately caused fans to scratch their heads, but her turn starring opposite of Robert Pattinson in "Remember Me" has heads turning.

Namely, the pair share intensely intimate moments on the big screen, from their bold first kiss, to a (clothed) romp in the shower and beyond. When it came time to the film such physical chemistry, however, there were no moments or opportunities for Pattinson and de Ravin to "rehearse": they just headed right in.

"When we [screen] tested together, there was no scenes involving kissing and obviously we didn’t test with a sex scene," de Ravin laughed in her interview with HitFix. She mocked just how awkward such an audition process would become. “'We want to see another scene, so take off your clothes. We just want to see the chemistry, trust us, it’s O.K.'"

Robert Pattinson Autographs Guitar for eBay Auction Benefiting Midnight Mission In Los Angeles

Robert Pattinson walked into Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana, CA, and started playing a new guitar when spotted by storeowner Norman Harris. Harris, a longtime advocate of LA's Midnight Mission, asked Pattinson if the star would be willing to autograph the guitar for the charity. Pattinson graciously agreed, and even conceded to having a photograph taken with the signed instrument for authentication.
(Kate :You may remember we brought you this story on ROBsessed)

(PRWEB) March 11, 2010 -- Robert Pattinson, the teenage heartthrob popularized by the Twilight film series and star of the new romantic drama Remember Me, opening March 12, was browsing through the eclectic inventory of Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana, CA, and couldn't resist picking up a brand new Fender Telecaster and started to play. As a very talented musician and easily recognizable celebrity, it wasn't long before store owner Norman Harris noticed Pattinson. Harris, whose store routinely attracts movie stars and Hollywood power brokers alike, struck up a casual conversation with young Pattinson when the thought occurred that this was an opportunity too good to pass up.

Harris has, for many years, worked very closely with LA's Midnight Mission, a charitable organization that provides basic necessities to the homeless, including counseling, education, training and job placement across the greater Los Angeles basin. The high-end clientele of the vintage guitar store allows Harris access to some of the most popular celebrities in town, including Tom Petty, Richie Sambora, Jackson Browne, Los Lobos and REO Speed Wagon -- all of whom have played in charity concerts coordinated by Harris on behalf of the Midnight Mission. Harris knew Pattinson was one of the brightest stars of the new decade, and couldn't resist the temptation to ask for an autograph -- not for any personal collection, of course, but to be auctioned off for the benefit of the charity.

Fans that have followed Robert Pattinson for any length of time know of the actor's reluctance to be photographed or sign autographs. Pattinson's reputation isn't that of a snob but rather a professional who's a little bit shy and timid, and more than just a little bit private. But, music hath charms to soothe the savage beast, and playing music that day in Norman's store seems to have brought out the very best and most compassionate in Pattinson. Not only did the star sign the guitar, the shy persona took a picture with it -- simultaneously verifying its authenticity while multiplying its value by at least a factor of 10.

Pattinson autographed the Fender guitar back in December 2009 and the charity had listed it for auction on eBay shortly thereafter, but it simply didn't have the funding or manpower to support the auction, so it was canceled. It wasn't until recently that volunteers raised enough money for the Midnight Mission to properly promote the eBay auction, and the timing couldn't be more perfect; the auction now coincides with the opening day of Pattinson's new movie, Remember Me. Look for both the movie and the auction to open Friday, March 12.

Parade.com Talk To Robert Pattinson About All The Craziness While Filming "Remember Me" & Getting Good Advice

Robert Pattinson is taking a break from his Twilight stardom to play a rebellious New York college student in Remember Me. In the indie flick, the 23-year-old gets to explode with rage, fall in love with a girl (played by Lost's Emilie de Ravin) and go head-to head with his domineering father (played by Pierce Brosnan).

Parade.com's Jeanne Wolf found out what Pattinson had in common with his character's search for identity.

Acting as therapy.
"I try and pick roles that will help me develop as a human being and I think I was going through a similar kind of experience as my character Tyler, which I guess you could call being rebellious. I thought just doing the film would actually help me to think about and discover things that would help me in my life. I was kind of using it as a therapy exercise."

His personal struggle.
"You're so focused on trying to be an individual and trying to like stamp your identity on something. But you kind of doubt what you want to be. You don't accept just being part of the world. I sort of had that feeling. I had this obsession when I was younger about everything feeling kind of fake. Eventually, you just stop sort of railing against everything around you because most people only cause problems for themselves. They're just blind to the reality of things."

Connecting with losing a loved one.
"I keep talking about my dog all the time. It was an incredible dog, and I said in an interview recently he was the most important person in my life. My family went crazy with me for saying that. But, however ridiculous it may seem to some people, my relationship with my dog was a defining moment. Having the dog die was, literally, like the worst day of my life. It was like losing a family member." (Kate: I hear ya!)

The reality of becoming an overnight success.
"I think you really cause yourself a lot of problems if you start fighting against it. There's nothing you can do. I mean, there's no mysticism to it. People recognize you and they want to talk to you, or want to see you. My trick is not to see them as a crowd. If you break down every crowd into individuals, then it's more manageable. It's just when you start seeing these huge masses of people screaming at you that you start going crazy. So I try to focus on a few faces and not the mass."

But when you're filming on location in New York...
"It ended up being like more of a circus than I thought it was going to be. At the beginning, it was terrible. Then, about halfway through, I just suddenly had an epiphany about it. I don't know what happened, but I know it's just fine. I guess it's just learning how to sort of block things out. It's like you've just got to be more disciplined about it."

A lesson in anger control.
"While we were filming, one of the security guys saw me getting more and more upset with the paparazzi guys. He just sort of came up and was like, 'Imagine going out there and trying to hit one of them while, let's say, 40 cameras are clicking away.' That was enough to kind of calm my frustration. But, at the end of the day, you can't say, 'I'm not doing it until these people go away.' You have to keep acting. So it was definitely way more intense than any of the Twilight films."

Maybe he skips the reviews.
"I didn't like the way New Moon was treated by the critics. I think it was reviewed in the context of just being a big franchise movie. When something is so hyped, inevitably, there is a backlash against it. I think Chris Weitz is an amazing director. I really enjoyed the film. So the naysayers kind of annoyed me."

So why not try an album?
"I kind of want to do one at the end of the year. All my friends are recording albums and I'm very annoyed about it. But I can't do two things at once. I don't know how people like Jennifer Lopez can act and also sing. I'm just like, 'I can't.' But, hopefully, I'll find some time to get it together."

Emile de Ravin talks Robert Pattinson With Canada.com

NEW YORK - As one of the high-profile stars in the popular TV series Lost, Emilie de Ravin has endured more than her share of silly questions from inquiring minds.

Usually, she tries to be friendly and forthcoming, but the Australian actress makes an exception during a recent promotional interview for the movie Remember Me, which opens March 12.

In the romantic drama, de Ravin plays Ally, a New York cop's daughter who ends up falling for Tyler, a rebellious college student played by Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson. The characters develop a relationship - to the chagrin of Ally's protective father.

That's great, but what was it like kissing Robert Pattinson, she's asked?

"Come on," says de Ravin as she rolls her eyes to dismiss the teen-mag type of query.

She had more to say about her Remember Me portrayal and working alongside Pattinson. For instance, she will admit that her decision to do the Pattinson vehicle had nothing to do with the actor's involvement.

"His name might have been on the cover of the screenplay, but I didn't associate him with the movie," de Ravin admits.

However, she learned to appreciate his talents and his drive to be an actor, not a teen sensation. "He's a very sort of normal, grounded, down-to-earth individual, and he's not one of these people who's doing this for the fame," she says.

Robert Pattinson - Remember Me Review from Australia's The Age

WHILE it's too early to say whether Robert Pattinson has the acting talent to go beyond playing a hot vampire in the Twilight series, Remember Me suggests his prospects are slim.

Pattinson isn't the first teen idol to fancy himself as the second coming of James Dean, but his performance as rebellious rich kid Tyler Hawkins is a ponderous catalogue of Method mannerisms: he spends the whole movie pouting and letting his head roll forward as he fumbles for a cigarette.

Though Remember Me is basically a love story, like many recent American films it's also about grief. Tyler has been at odds with his family ever since his brother's suicide, while his new girlfriend Ally (Emilie de Ravin) has never recovered from the fateful day when her mother was gunned down in the subway.

The contrivances don't stop there: director Allen Coulter can do little to redeem the inane script by newcomer Will Fetters, which strives to be whimsical, edgy and profound.

This is the kind of drama where the hero quotes Gandhi and the kooky heroine orders dessert first because she believes in seizing the day.

Much of the dialogue is so awful it's hard to see why anyone thought the film a good idea - unless it was for the sake of the ending, which will either blow your mind or leave you paralysed with embarrassment.
