New Moon is the #1 Advance Ticket Seller in Fandango History
'New Moon' Strikes Down 'Dark Knight', 'Harry Potter' and 'Star Wars' to Become the #1 Advance Ticket-Seller in Fandango History
(What a difference 2 days can make, we reported HERE on the 13th that New Moon was #4 in advance ticket sales.)
With five more days before its November 20 release date, New Moon has already leaped over previous record-holders to become the top-selling pre-release title in Fandango's ten-year history. The new record for Fandango's fastest-selling film was set on Saturday night, November 14, shortly after 8:00 p.m.
The Top 5 Advance Ticket-Sellers on Fandango (as of November 15, 2009) are now as follows:
1.New Moon (2009)
2.Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
3.Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
4.The Dark Knight (2008)
5.Twilight (2008)
The latest chapter of The Twilight Saga is currently wolfing down 86% of weekly ticket sales on Fandango, the nation's leading movie ticketing destination.
Thousands of Thursday night midnight showtimes for New Moon are already sold out across the country, from Albany, Georgia to Yuba City, California. Yet New Moon tickets continue to be available. To meet the fan demand, the nation's top theater owners are regularly posting brand new showtimes on additional screens.
"For many fans, it's clearly the year's most anticipated film event," says Fandango Chief Operating Officer Rick Butler. "Ever since tickets went on sale on August 31, it's been among our top five weekly ticket-sellers, as New Moon has a strong pull on audiences. We're seeing a higher-than-usual number of tickets per transaction for this film, suggesting that moviegoers will show up en masse at theaters this weekend with their friends and family."
Here are some fun facts from a recent Fandango survey of more than 2,000 New Moon ticket-buyers:
•98% say the action in New Moon looks better than the action in Twilight.
•72% plan to see the movie with a group of three friends or more.
•52% of survey respondents say they dream about vampires.
•22% are mothers and daughters planning to see New Moon together.
•10% plan to show up at the theater in costume, dressed as characters from the saga.

Robert Pattinson-The one that got away!
This is a funny/interesting post from a blog called Platform.
It's by a woman called Elizabeth Sankey and if i'm honest I'll admit I'm very jealous of her!
Here's what she has to say:
I have something to admit/brag about. In my School days I actually knew Rob Pattison (oh goodness how did that get in here?!), he was a rather weird youth who was friends with a girl in my year. We used to make short films together, and one time he played the part of my imaginary boyfriend (how ironic). When it was time for me to write my own script and cast his part I decided to go for a subtly nuanced piece of cinema, exploring the different types of courtship for modern youths, and the obsessions that easily develop over a short space of time. It was called ‘Oblongs and Three-Sided Shapes: INTERESTING WINS OUT IN THE END’. Rob came to the casting (at Starbucks over a caramel frappucino) and put in quite a good performance. Not amazing, but quite good. I didn’t really feel like he’d owned his emotions, you know? He then admitted he hadn’t actually read my script (I CAN’T WORK UNDER THESE CONDITIONS) and so he did that while I asked for more cream and caramel sauce on my iced beverage. I returned to the table, “Hey this is great!” “Yes I know, thank you” (in this dramatisation the part of me is played by comic book guy) “You know what we should do at the end though? Turn it into a big massive orgy with everyone just getting off with each other”. Silence. “I do not think you really get my intention with this piece of theatrical cinema. I feel that working with you would be a compromise of my artistic integrity”.
Hold up.
HOLD UP. This bitterness and jealousy has consumed me.
I’m a f**king idiot. That was a brilliant idea, what’s wrong with me? It would have been funny, hot, starring Robert Pattison (instead of giving him ‘lights’ to do or something), and would have shown that INTERESTING WINS OUT IN THE END.
God, I am such a freaking moron. Bye x
Kate: Ok first of all I have to agree with your last statement and I would be thinking exactly the same thing if i had passed up Robert Pattinson. LOL
Secondly his name is Robert Pattinson not Robert Pattison (just saying)

Robert Pattinson is"The Most in Demand Actor of the Generation"
From The Independent on Sunday
Heart-throbs! Hollywood's leading leading men
Vampiric British star Robert Pattinson leads the pack of young actors who set teenage hearts a-flutter. And he can act, too
He has set millions of teenage hearts a-flutter and now the Twilight star Robert Pattinson is raising pulses among film executives keen to cash in on his profile.
The 23-year-old heart-throb, whose appearance this week at the premiere of New Moon – the second-screen instalment of Stephenie Meyer's four-book vampire saga – caused mass hysteria among British fans young and old, is joining an exclusive Hollywood club of leading men believed by industry insiders to be able to carry a film.
The first adaptation in the series, Twilight, last year topped the UK box office with a £2.5m opening weekend. Movie bosses will be hoping Pattinson's popularity and the current vogue for all things vampire, fuelled by TV shows such as True Blood, can help New Moon to an even better showing.
But it remains to be seen whether the growing legion of bright young things, including the Twilight talent and High School Musical's Zac Efron, all have the acting ability to match the cinematic eye-candy status.
Hollywood's Holy Grail is to find young talent that can emulate established stars such as George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who cemented their careers by balancing roles showcasing their good looks with those highlighting their acting abilities.
The veteran film critic Barry Norman said there was a danger of young actors being type-cast if they stuck to the teenage "popcorn" genre. "It's an easy route for the young and the pretty, but I don't think necessarily that is going to be a good springboard to launch a long career," he said.
Tatiana Siegel, a reporter for Variety who covers castings at the four major film studies in Los Angeles, said British hunk Pattinson was "the most in-demand actor of the generation". She added: "Now the trend in Hollywood is not so much to have an actor who carries the movies, but a brand, like Twilight. Robert Pattinson is one of the few actors that the studios can build a movie around."
His co-star, Taylor Lautner, is also hot property. The 17-year-old piled on 30lbs of muscle for his role as the werewolf Jacob Black. He has been quoted as saying he would never take his shirt off on-screen again, but teenage girls breathed a sigh of relief this week when he denied the comment, adding that he would strip off if the role required it.

Robert Pattinson
Pattinson, 23, found screen success in 2005 as ill-fated Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but it is his Twilight role as vampire boy Edward Cullen that has infected teenage girls with the Pattinson bug. "He's got that interesting sort of dirty handsomeness which seems to polarise girls," says Jay Fernandez of Hollywood Reporter. "Some say he really needs to take a shower, and some are really attracted to that."
