VIDEO: Robert Pattinson as Batman has expressed itself and this comic vlogger is ready to go!
This has been like a dream. I believe it's happening but I can't believe it's happening. How is this happening?? *prays Cannes press is wondering the same thing*
As if my mind couldn't be more blown, I saw my worlds collide today. I'm a huge fan of Marvel Cinematic Universe and Game of Thrones. Not really admitting something unique here but I'm not a casual watcher of either. I'm a first-showing, multiple-viewing, blog-reading, vlog-watching, constant-analyzing, deep-researching, from the beginning kind of fan. ROBsessed....but GoTsessed and MCUsessed.
However, they've never had that singular THING that Rob has for us so the obsessions have been...quieter. 10 years ago this month, I became ROBsessed. It was April '09 I read the Twilight series but it was May '09 I saw GQRob (you know the one) for the first time, CannesRob hit the scene for the first time, and I discovered this blog. It's a special month for me personally. I didn't know the fandom yet. It was just me, the books, and this guy that I couldn't stop watching and listening to in interviews. What a world I was about to enter.
Which all leads to me being thrilled today to have my regular MCU and GoT informant report on Rob. A vlogger I love and follow because he's a comic reader and book reader, has posted about Batman. He was supportive of Rob like anyone who realizes Rob did not hibernate since Breaking Dawn Part 2 seven years ago. No, Rob put in the WORK. The man is respected by his peers. The industry values his talent and taste. He's being defended by fanboys in the know. And Rob will be AMAZING as Bruce Wayne/Batman. We know this. We've seen it. It's going to be fun to watch everyone else come to know it too.
So I want to share this video with you all still out there, still addicted and devoted. We're entering a new era. Again. Time to understand another fandom, another world (unless you've been Batsessed). Check out this video from Emergency Awesome breaking down what's known about Matt Reeves' The Batman and the concept behind the plot details. I'm not a comic reader so I don't know Batman's history beyond the films. This video already gave me more info than any article I've read since the announcement. I hope it gets you more pumped up...as if we aren't all floating in the atmosphere already. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!

About Robert Pattinson as Rey in The Rover: "Few roles have demonstrated how expansive his range actually is"
About Robert Pattinson as Rey in The Rover: "Few roles have demonstrated how expansive his range actually is"
I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this post in Comic Book Movie of some guy musing about Rob in The Rover. It's not even a review...it's just a guy loving what Rob did with Rey and deciding to chat and theorize about Rob. It's not something we see normally - non-fandom, male bloggers just talking about Rob in such high regard. I had to read it twice to be sure I understood the words "superb", "epic", and "brilliance" in the proper context.
An excerpt is below!
Comic Book Movie Robert Pattinson: Our Sci-Fi Superman? Who knew?
After Twilight and other films who would suspect Pattinson had an interest in Sci-Fi? There's nothing "sparkly" about his role.
David Michôd’s The Rover is fantastic because it so well illustrates what we have been missing from so many other acting performances in the action-adventure genre.
You may have noticed that what we haven’t been getting lately in the Action-Adventure genre. A jolt, a reason for pause, a genuine sense of surprise in character development seems to elude us in so many films. For some reason many actors seem to forget they are: 1) the vehicle for wonder, 2) the translator of exception, 3) the provocateur of awe yet accomplishing any of these endeavors is very difficult. It’s difficult because the actor has to be willing to break convention, choose against formula, and frequently find rationales in character definition that may not be on the page. In other words the performance may contradict what we think the original text suggested. That’s right this performer has to be in large degree a rebel! This kind of artist can’t be a people pleaser, can’t seek to be popular, nor can he or she perform to win acceptance. These described bold attributions require guts, bravery and integrity, things that audiences don’t necessarily attribute to artists yet are apparent in the best performances (yes, even in Action-Adventure). As Rey, Robert Pattinson provides this kind of superb performance.
...
Trying to avoid any really significant spoilers, let’s look at a far more recent epic performance. Back to The Rover, Robert Pattinson equally plays his character Rey as a bit of buffoon. Many critics have claimed he is as Guy Pearce’s character Eric sees him: a “half-wit.” Yet we’ll let you decide for yourself whether you think the character is mentally challenged. In a scene that is described (yet we don’t actually see it) Rey is shot and left for dead by his brother Henry (played by actor Scoot McNairy). Post traumatic syndrome disorder or PTSD could explain Rey’s odd or pathetic behavior as an effect of being horrified by stressful events. We only have character Archie’s (played by actor David) opinion that Rey’s behavior is typically that way to lead us to believe Rey is a dunce. Yet it’s his brother’s uncharacteristically violent reaction to these statements that make us believe that Archie statements may be entirely wrong. Many of the film’s depictions are equally this open ended, allowing a thoughtful audience to independently process the brilliance of the narrative.
Like the earlier Reeve portrait of a pathetic Clark, Pattinson’s performance helps us better understand how uncharacteristically brave, loyal and devoted he is to his virtual kidnapper Eric. Apparently separated by decades, bravery and brilliance from one actor demonstrates brilliance in another.
Though he has presented many nuanced characters since his most popular performance as Edward in the Twilight series, few roles have demonstrated how expansive Pattinson’s range actually is. Yes Edward, the character that sold the entire Twilight series has one thing in common with Rey from The Rover; actor Robert Pattinson.

It's happening already with critics and in social media corners but I hope we continue to see more guys ignoring their Twilight hate-bias and embracing Rob's evolving resume and considerable talents.

ROBsessed Awards - Robert Pattinson's Best Non- Fandom Supporter
Robert Pattinson has been very fortunate to have had some wonderful support again this year from outside the fandom. We have some of our old regular faces....... and a couple of new ones too.
Josh Horowitz ~ The reigning champ is back to defend his title. He may not have had any interviews with Rob this year but he made sure Rob was mentioned in interviews with Benedict Cumberbatch, Ashley Tisdale and James Franco
David Cronenberg ~ (Maps To The Stars Director) David is one of Rob's biggest cheerleaders. As his director in "Cosmopolis" and this year in "Maps to the Stars" he has had many good things to say about Rob like, "I really think he's a terrific actor. He's extremely inventive. He surprised me every day on 'Cosmopolis' with the nuances and things that he did which were unexpected".

Werner Herzog ~ (Queen Of The Desert Director) Werner was full of praise for Rob this year saying "He has charisma, he is smart, he writes. I hope we will see him one day as a director" & "This is a very intelligent man. Writes well. Knows exactly what he's doing. He also knows that he must be out of this short-lived type of role of Teen Stars."

David Michod ~ (The Rover Director) David worked with Rob on The Rover at the beginning of the year and was quick to tell people that Rob was 'really smart, and not the sort of pretty boy I was expecting. As soon as it was time to start testing… he was my first choice, by a long way.''

Dior ~ Dior and Robert Pattinson seem to have been made for each other. With their Dior Homme campaign it's clear that they have been listening to what Rob fans want. From the Dior Homme video down to the #DiorRob tag on twitter. It's pretty obvious how happy and proud they are to have Robert Pattinson as their front man.
Click on the pic below for a refresher of the editorial from their Dior Mag
A24 ~ I think we have all seen how much A24 share our excitement at seeing Robert Pattinson star in The Rover next year. As the US production company for The Rover they have been very vocal in their support of Rob on their social media.

Kate:
"I think it was a given that it was going to be something from the Golden Globes, right? Ok so it’s not “technically” a pic BUT it was the first thing I saw this morning!"
KAT:
"The first pic I saw of Rob today... drink in hand, smirk on face."

ROBsessed Awards - Robert Pattinson's Best Non-Fandom Supporter
Robert Pattinson is lucky to have had some wonderful support again this year from outside the fandom. A couple make the list for the second year running... and a couple of newbies too.
Josh Horowitz: Josh's coverage of Cosmopolis showed us he's on the Rob train for the long run, MTV First and red carpet interview to name a couple. Pretty sure we can count on Josh for more.
Click the image for some Josh Cosmopolis love
David Cronenberg: As recent as just a couple of days ago we've had so much love and praise of Rob from David. Quite the bromance. Then of course casting Rob in Maps to the Stars says it all.
Click on each image for some Cronenberg support
Cosmo Fanboys Galore: Seriously, there are so many. So many guys shocked by Rob's performance and impressed enough to tweet their approval. Loved seeing their thoughts roll in and we know there will be more next week when Cosmopolis comes out on DVD.
The R Team - Nick, Stephanie, Dean, Sarah and Grace: They've been there from the start, Rob's business family. This video says it all. What family member doesn't love to tease the baby brother?
There they are, your four nominees in this category.
And remember, you only get 1 vote and polls close at midnight (ET) on Dec. 31st

Tweets and tumbles about Robert Pattinson: The latest in little mentions and film news
We have a mini smorgasbord of info for you guys. First up is a fun picture and tweet from Alicia Malone who got to interview Rob during the Breaking Dawn Part 2 press junket in Los Angeles:
Just when we think we can't love him any more, right???? Too too cute and adorkable.
Sticking with the press junket, you guys might recall this interview with Extra TV the other day when Rob was asked about chick flicks:
gif: source
New York Times best-selling author of The Fault In Our Stars, John Green, reblogged the gif with this comment:
A little trivia: The Fault In Our Stars film will be produced by Wyck Godfrey.
Moving into film news, this doesn't have anything to do with Rob directly but some of you asked about the role Jude Law will be playing in Queen of the Desert. The producer, Cassian Elwes, revealed the info on twitter to fansite, @QOTDfilm (this is a fellow fansite, not the one Kate and I work on):
A couple of Rob's other film projects got some quick buzz on Saturday from the American Film Market, still underway (ends Wednesday). Variety had a quick mention for The Rover and Hold On To Me. Excerpt:

'Henry' is Henry Cadogan. A British diplomat that Gertrude Bell fell in love with! This film continues to intrigue. The Playlist fanboys said "damn, this cast is shaping up pretty nicely..." and Screen Crush is ready for the maddness Herzog brings - "Knowing Herzog, Bell is surely going to have a brush or two with madness."
A couple of Rob's other film projects got some quick buzz on Saturday from the American Film Market, still underway (ends Wednesday). Variety had a quick mention for The Rover and Hold On To Me. Excerpt:
Solid rather than spectacular -- that's the consensus so far among buyers and sellers at the halfway point of the 33rd edition of the American Film Market, with more than 2,000 projects for sale.
...
FilmNation topped Glen Basner said that the first half of AFM had been a scramble with "The Rover," "Nebraska," "Hold on to Me" and "Genius"That sounds promising. Folks want to gobble up TR and HOTM :) We can't blame them. We want all these projects gobbled up and we pray daily that distribution is better than what we've experienced in the past with Rob's indies. Either way, we'll be there every step of the way supporting him. :)

Robert Pattinson attends IFC Films dinner at New York Film Fest (Oct. 5)
Rob made a surprise appearance in New York last night!
Old pic but he's gorgeous and in New York. The pic applies to the theme. ;)
A bunch of lucky fellas were graced with his holy hotness at a dinner by IFC Films supporting french filmmaker, Olivier Assayas (Something in the Air , Paris, je t'aime), during the New York Film Fest.
First Brian Brooks tried to play it cool...
But realized quick, he was in the presence of a holy one.
The male division of the Robert Pattinson Fan Club, also reported the sighting:
Spoken like a true fangirl :)
The Playlist is definitely feeling the reason Rob hit the scene...
An Indiewire assistant editor also made note of Rob's posse:
And a crucial self realization...
So he did...
Another Indiewire reporter let us know who the posse really was...
And LA Times chimed in as well...
Another lucky guy, Ryan Werner:
Best tweet of the night goes to Matt Dentler:
Lookin' good and supporting artists. Love Rob mixing and mingling with good film folk and all the fanboys who can't contain their inner squee. :)

Excerpted from kstewartnews:
When director Bill Condon recently announced Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson would pop in their vampire contact lenses one more time for a few days of ‘Breaking Dawn- Part 2′ pickups, we had one vital question: how would Kristen and Rob get their hair into shape for Bella and Edward? KSN had the pleasure of chatting with celebrity Colorist Jennifer J. about how she transformed both Kristen and Rob’s locks back into that of The Cullens.
...
While it’s often just another day at the salon for someone like Kristen to alter her hair for her films, we wondered if it was as easy for a client like Rob. We asked Jennifer if there is a different mentality for a colorist when working with men. Jennifer detailed,
There are two different types of color for men. Color that looks like it’s colored and color that looks like it’s not colored. I specialize in men’s hair color because I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve that can make hair color for men look great but natural. So many men have problems with their hair color looking red and brassy which reads fake on a man but I use color in a way so that it really looks untouched and more masculine. But, Rob isn’t exactly a stranger to changing his hair color since he’s had different shades for The Saga and ‘Water for Elephants’. In fact, Rob was a good sport in the process. “Rob was happy that his hair color was grown out,” Jennifer said, “so he wanted something as temporary as possible.”

Excerpt from Celebuzz:
Now that filming has wrapped, has Reed been hanging with any cast members?
“This is just the honest truth — I see my costars all the time,” Nikki told Celebuzz’s Taryn Ryder.
“Kristen and Rob live ten minutes away, so that has been great. They’re great! And Peter [Facinelli] lives five minutes away, Jackson [Rathbone] lives three minutes away. We’re all super close to each other so it has felt like we’re still working together.”

Analysis on what to expect from Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis
Analysis on what to expect from Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis
What a great read from a male. I like to emphasize male because they tend to give Rob a hard time and Rob, himself, recognizes his fan base is single gender right now.
From Criminal Complex:
Loved this analysis and his faith in what kind of artist Cronenberg is and what he can produce with Rob. :))

What a great read from a male. I like to emphasize male because they tend to give Rob a hard time and Rob, himself, recognizes his fan base is single gender right now.
From Criminal Complex:
What is it with grim literary giants partnering with champion directors these days? Yesterday it was Ridley Scott and Cormac McCarthy. Today comes news of David Cronenberg tackling the tangled material of Don DeLillo, Cosmopolis. Cronenberg did his career a real solid when he broke from the “grand guignol of sexual perversion” genre and into the “crime” genre, and there’s little doubt he’ll do justice to Cosmopolis‘ vision of twisted Manhattan.
I lost no faith in this vision even after learning that the lead in Cosmopolis will be Robert Pattinson. Edward Cullen will lose his sparkle when under Cronenberg’s seamy hand.
Why am I so certain? Like any good gambler, I’m going to the track record.
Answer me this – what has Robert Pattinson done beyond stand in the soft-focus spotlight of Twilight? Less than half an hour of screen time in Harry Potter? Nothing much beside that? Exactly.
This kid may be known to billions, but he’s still an unknown quantity. Sure, his agent has shoe-horned him into brand-friendly heart-throb roles like Water for Elephants and Remember Me. Those don’t test his mettle, though. They’re tailor-made to do just the opposite: Deliver the role expected.
It’s when an actor breaks the mold that we see their worth – or lack thereof. Witness Adam Sandler’s struggles to wrest himself into dismal dramas. Then balance the scales with what going from Big to Philadelphia did for Tom Hanks’ career.
The role for Pattinson in Cosmopolis is far from indestructible. The synopsis describes it as “a billionaire Wall Street broker travelling on a odyssey through Manhattan to get a haircut.” I’d describe it as a Big Apple Ulysses, soaked in sex, assassins, Oedipal complex and more sex.
Bottom line: This ain’t your tween’s Mormon soft-core we’re talking here, folks.
Point being, until he fills a frame that isn’t fit for the cover of Tiger Beat magazine, Robert Pattinson is a big question mark for us. Cronenberg, however, is a Pygmalion when it comes to grinding and chipping actors into something more we expect of them. Viggo Mortensen would still be wearing leather armor in the mind’s eye of audiences if not for Cronenberg’s keen method of capturing his brilliance.
So when will it be Robert Pattinson’s time to truly shine – or, rather, finally sweat, bleed and weep? Falcom, a Swiss distributor, just snatched German and Austrian distribution on Cosmopolis. That’s as good as minted that we’ll see the film here in the States sometime this year.
Keep an eye out for it to show up here in the US just before the Mayan apocalypse comes a knocking. And keep an eye on Pattinson, too. The world’s willowiest vampire could be reborn bad-ass.
Loved this analysis and his faith in what kind of artist Cronenberg is and what he can produce with Rob. :))

Highlights of Josh's 2011 accomplishments in Rob-land:

Josh doesn't shy away from bringing up Rob to other actors that are connected to him either. He's top notch with his Rob questions and the results are always to our benefit.
MTV is positively miserable with their videos. I wanted to include all of Josh's interviews with Rob this year but what should be 10 videos would end up being like 100. So click HERE if you want a 2011 Rob & Josh refresher. You'll have to scroll through many pages because naturally the MTV videos aren't in order by date or able to be filtered.
