Robert Pattinson's LIFE and Queen of the Desert highly anticipated, expected at Cannes & MORE

Siting at #8 for Queen of the Desert and #19 for Life, Rob's 2015 films get some strong love from The Playlist in their 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2015 list! They also gave a shoutout to Idol's Eye and The Trap in their honorable mentions section. Visit the link to check it out.

I liked that last line...."Expect a Cannes premiere..."
Oh we will. We most definitely will.

Dazed had some positive commentary in their Films To Watch For list and see Life as one to "clean up when award season comes around."
Hey U Guys had nothing but great things to say while including QOTD on their list of Must See 2015 Films Which Are Still A Secret: With such a skilled filmmaker at the helm and a brilliantly dense cast relaying the life and legacy of Bell, this looks set to be a hallmark release in 2015.
Thompson on Hollywood has QOTD as a festival hopeful on their 45 Films We're Looking Forward To In 2015 and IonCinema has Queen of the Desert as one of their most anticipated foreign films of 2015. Again...I'm liking the last line...

We'll be paying attention to all festival announcements but let us be real. We know where Rob belongs...

Robert Pattinson's Queen of the Desert, Life and Maps To The Stars are expected for fall festivals!

Robert Pattinson's Queen of the Desert, Life and Maps To The Stars are expected for fall festivals!

 photo RobDaneHQ.jpg

The Toronto International Film Festival (Sept. 4-14) line up will be announced on July 22nd and the  Venice Film Festival (Aug. 27-Sept. 6) line up will be announced on July 24th.

Rob's next 3 films are rumored and expected to show up at one of these fall fests.

Maps To The Stars going to TIFF seems like a foregone conclusion at this point. It's expected to have its North American premiere there and then released later in the fall.

Queen of the Desert producers have been dropping teases. Nick Raslan called QOTD "a true epic" and Cassian Elwes called the film a total winner and said they'd get distribution at the fall festivals. The Playlist added Telluride and NYFF to the mix for QOTD possibilities too. Elwes is hoping for US release this year and Raslan also shared a still from the film.

Life is the last Rob film to be a part of the fall fest rumors and it's the one I'm looking forward to the most. One guess why....

Anton Corbijn revealed that Philip Seymour Hoffman was planning on being in Life before his passing. The Playlist speculates that he could have played Dennis Stock's editor (now played by Joel Edgerton) or Jack Warner (played by Ben Kinglsey).

The Playlist also suggested that "Life is expected to be among the announcements for TIFF and Venice when they arrive next week". This would definitely be a pleasant surprise if it turns out to be true. VERY pleasant.

As for Rob's fall filming schedule, it looks like we'll see him film Idol's Eye and The Childhood of a Leader. TCOAL's time frame jumps around between September and November and IE jumps between October and November. We'll see how they shape up the closer we get since schedules on indies change frequently. The Lost City of Z was last scheduled for January 2015 but there seems to be a conflict with Benedict Cumberbatch's schedule (he's slated to now be working on Sherlock) so like the others, we just have to wait and see.

That's all that the updates on Rob's film slate for now. We'll keep you posted next week when the lineups are announced for the film festivals!

Robert Pattinson's Cannes crusade cheered on and The Rover and Maps To The Stars are highly anticipated

Robert Pattinson's Cannes crusade cheered on and The Rover and Maps To The Stars are highly anticipated

It's quite a welcomed reversal to read increasing numbers of film critics, bloggers and fanboys embracing Rob's film choices and anticipating their release. The Rover and Maps To The Stars will premiere in less than a week and The Playlist has included them in another list - The 15 Most Anticipated Films Of The 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Their remarks about Rob under The Rover were particularly pleasing. :))

Excerpt from The Playlist:
 photo ScreenShot2014-05-12at21536PM.png
"Maps To The Stars" (dir. David Cronenberg)
Cast: Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, Robert Pattinson
Synopsis: A twisted Hollywood family—successful self-help magnate Dr. Stafford Weiss and his wife Cristiana, who manages the careers of their burned-out child star kids Agatha and Benjie—come into the orbit of an aspiring actor and a movie star haunted by her dead mother.
What You Need To Know: Two years on from the premiere of the divisive "Cosmopolis," David Cronenberg and star Robert Pattinson are back on the Croisette with a film that seems in many ways a sort of companion to that Don DeLillo adaptation. Penned by Bruce Wagner, it's a long-gestating passion project for the Canadian director, which finally got before cameras last year, and the chance to see him biting the Hollywood hand that intermittently feeds him is certainly an intriguing one, particularly with a cast like this. We're excited to see what Cronenberg newbies Wasikowska, Moore and Williams come up with, and to see Cusack get something substantial to do. The Hollywood satire genre has a dicey track record, but if anyone can make something closer to "Sunset Boulevard" than "An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn," it's Cronenberg, and early footage has been promising, if very much in the chilly milieu of "Cosmopolis," right down to the limo sex.

"The Rover"
Cast: Guy Pearce, Robert Pattinson, Scoot McNairy
Synopsis: In a dystopian near future in the Australian outback, a man hunts down the gang of criminals who stole his car, forcing a wounded and abandoned member of the gang to help track them.
What You Need To Know: For a long time “Foxcatcher” was our automatic response to the inevitable “which Cannes movie are you most looking forward to?” question, but in recent days Bennett Miller’s drama may have been overtaken in those stakes by the second film from “Animal Kingdom” director David Michôd, which sees him share writing duties with ‘Kingdom’ star Joel Edgerton. The reasons probably do credit to the blanket marketing tactics that have seen myriad pictures and clips roll out in the last week or so, but the fact is the pictures look that good, and the performances, from Pattinson and from our perennial favorite Guy Pearce look pretty special too, from this distance. In any case, seeing Michôd return to his “Animal Kingdom” themes of brotherhood, masculinity and criminality, but spread against a broader canvas of societal breakdown would be enough to get us in line alone. And whatever the haters have to say about Pattinson, we're rooting for him and hoping that the less-travelled career path he’s chosen post-stardom pays off in no uncertain terms soon. With this and “Maps to the Stars” both playing, maybe Cannes 2014 is the place that will happen for him.

He's coming guys....

Robert Pattinson will jumpstart your summer! Get ready for The Rover!

Robert Pattinson will jumpstart your summer! Get ready for The Rover!

With the Cannes Film Fest announcements around the corner (April 17!), it's fun to see The Rover continuing to pop up on lists. Summer is usually characterized with superheroes and oversized, CGI-laden action flicks. But thanks to Rob and co., our superheroes will be Rob and Guy and our action will be grittier and more real.

The Wrap has joined the summer lovin' for The Rover and included the film as 19 out of 50 on their list of 49 (they can't count) Summer Movies On Our Radar!

Oooooooo the positive buzz gets me movin'!

But before our Summer Of ReyRob hits, Cannes buzz is basically a....
 photo Roar.gif

We have Variety including The Rover again on a Cannes Wish List (15 Movies Our Critics Hope To See At This Year's Festival) and the French press (Le Figaro; Paris MatchLes Inrocks; Premiere) is including not just The Rover but also Maps To The Stars in their Cannes predictions. Click HERE to read the english translations complied by Pattinson Art Work.

Are you guys ready? I feel like you aren't. What kind of precautions are you taking to handle the EPICNESS that will be CannesRob3.0??

You've been warned. He's coming.

MOVIE NEWS: Robert Pattinson completes filming in Toronto, The Rover release dates move closer and more!

MOVIE NEWS: Robert Pattinson completes filming in Toronto, The Rover release dates move closer and more!

We're about to hit some limbo action with WorkingRob. @seansmovies has been tracking filming in Toronto for Life and tweeted that production wrapped in Toronto.

 photo ScreenShot2014-03-26at80634PM.png

At the same time, it looks like some more filming will take place in Los Angeles. An extra located in LA (also a casting director for extras) shared some paperwork on his instagram for upcoming extra work on Life and a Rob sighting has already sprung on twitter. Dennis Stock met James Dean at Chateau Marmont so it would be pretty cool if some filming took place at the famous Hollywood hotel.

 photo ScreenShot2014-03-26at90858PM.png

What's next for Rob after Life? Well Embankment Films still has Mission: Blacklist listed as second quarter 2014 on their website and there's been no updates for The Childhood of a Leader beyond the last word of May 2014. The Lost City of Z is still sitting on summer 2014. So we'll have to wait and see which film is up to bat next.

 photo idontknow.gif

In the meantime, with announcements coming April 17, we've got the Cannes buzz basically a loud BANG right now. Variety is the latest to list both Maps To The Stars and The Rover for Cannes potential. French press is also talking up Maps To The Stars and The Wrap mentioned seeing Rob on the Croisette with both films.

Speaking of The Rover, Australia's release date was moved up as well!

Rob: ooohmyGAAAWD
 photo sillyface.gif

The film was originally slated for July 31st but has been moved to June 12th! The country joins the US with the June release date. We reached out to our eOne contact to see if the UK and Canada will also join the US and Australia but they weren't ready to confirm a theatrical release. So sit tight just a little but longer. We'll see what happens. They know you want it NOW!

The anticipation kills us, non? And finally, speaking of anticipating Rob's films, IONCINEMA has rightly decided to list every upcoming Rob film in their most anticipated lists for 2014 and 2015.

The Cannes Buzz Around Robert Pattinson's 'The Rover' & 'Maps To The Stars' Continues

UPDATED to add indiewire article at the bottom
The Cannes Buzz Around Robert Pattinson's 'The Rover' & 'Maps To The Stars' Continues

 photo TR.jpg

In less than a month we'll find out what films will be selected for Cannes 2014. Not surprisingly media outlets have been speculating what movies they think will make that all important list.

There has been a lot of buzz about Cannes veteran David Cronenberg returning along with his ‘Amazing Ensemble' in Maps to The Stars and also David Michôd making his debut appearance with The Rover which boasts some 'serious star power'.

Of course both of these movies have a common denominator. And we couldn't be more proud that there's a good chance that Rob will have not one but two films there this year.

So mark April 17th in those calendars because that's when we'll officially find out who's heading to Cannes.

In the meantime have a read at the great things being said about Maps to The Stars and The Rover

From The Playlist :
“The Rover” (dir. David Michod)
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Guy Pearce, Scoot McNairy, David Field, Anthony Hayes
Not every filmmaker can be a returning face at Cannes—everyone needs to make their Croisette debut at some point. One of the most likely to be headed to the South of France this year would appear to be Australian filmmaker David Michod, who announced himself as a major talent with “Animal Kingdom” a few years back. His latest, a moody post-apocalyptic Western with some serious star power attached, looks like potential Cannes territory, has been gently rumored for a while, and appears to be perfectly timed — it shot in January 2013, already has a teaser trailer out there, and will be released in the U.S. by A24 in July.

Robert Pattinson's upcoming performance in Life makes The Playlist's Oscar predictions list for 2015

Robert Pattinson's upcoming performance in Life makes The Playlist's Oscar predictions list for 2015

Well this made me smile.....

The Playlist has been doing a "Premature Oscar Predictions" list for 2015 and guess who showed up on their Supporting Actor list?

Johnny Depp!

 photo suspiciousglare.gif

HAHA! Just kidding guysssssss....you know who showed up....

ROBERT PATTINSON!

 photo HQRobertPattinsononLifeSet8thMarch201421-1.jpg

Now this is a big step for The Playlist so they saved the best for last. ;) Rob's name pops up in the "you could also keep an eye out for..." section. They see potential for his role as Dennis Stock in Life which is crazy awesome since we're currently loving the set pics we're seeing.

 photo NEWHQLifeSetWithRobertPattinson8thMarch201428.jpg

I have personal, realist viewpoints about Oscar noms and fine-ass men with talent but those viewpoints don't keep me from smiling BIG TIME when I see movie media outlets anticipate award worthy performances from our favorite actor. I would have thought Rey would have gotten some love but The Playlist anticipates a fall festival run for Life and that could explain their Dennis Stock love. And yeah the work Rob is doing on Life is of the Best Actor variety since it's Dennis Stock's story but c'est la vie.

EITHER WAY......I'm

Robert Pattinson having two films at the Cannes Film Festival 2014 continues to build buzz

Robert Pattinson having two films at the Cannes Film Festival 2014 continues to build buzz

 photo TheRoverCannesRumor.jpg
Photo used as the header for Paris Match article

The Rover and Maps To The Stars continue to build Cannes Film Festival buzz with Paris Match jumping in to add that the two films from Rob this year are likely to premiere down the Croisette.

Excerpts from the translated Paris Match article:
Who will compete at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, from 14 to 25 May, in Cannes? Paris Match reported on the many suitors while the Gold Award will be officially presented Saturday, May 24
Professionals attending the Festival of Berlin are schizophrenic. Despite the rain of films – nearly 400 in all sections – they have one thing in mind: to know the features that will be ready for Cannes and have a chance to seduce Thierry Fremaux and his team of coaches . We already wish him a lot of courage to oversupply, especially coming from the European continent.
…
Last year, five North American films were in competition, indicates that the link between Hollywood and the Cannes Film Festival is not broken, quite the contrary.Among the regulars of the Croisette, some names are flush:

David Cronenberg with “Maps to the Stars” and Robert Pattinson and Julianne Moore dealing with Hollywood…
...
The Cannes Film Festival should reflect all theaters of the world.

The Rover by Australian David Michod with Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson…
…
The official selection will be announced in April. The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14 to 25, with the presentation of the Palme d’Or on Saturday 24, because of the European elections. New Zealand director Jane Campion will be the president of the jury, while ”Grace of Monaco” will open.
We certainly look forward to April when the official announcements are made!
