MOVIE NEWS: Damsel has a US release date and Claire Denis talks about Robert Pattinson

MOVIE NEWS: Damsel has a US release date and Claire Denis talks about Robert Pattinson

Damsel has a US release date so strap on your cowboy boots and be sure to support! Is that the right mood for us? I don't own cowboy boots. I don't even have a hat. I'll just have to wear jeans and shirt and go see Rob and Buttercup.

Damsel opens June 22nd in US theaters.

Claire Denis also had a fun anecdote about Rob regarding working with him for High Life.

Excerpt from The Guardian:
The actor she’s enthused about now is Robert Pattinson, who stars in her upcoming High Life, an English-language drama set in space. She didn’t choose Pattinson, she says, although she’s rated him since Twilight; he approached her. “I thought he was too young, too good-looking. But then the film was delayed and he said, ‘You see? I’m getting older.’”

We also have no premiere dates or festival announcements yet. We'll keep you posted!

A24 will release Good Time this summer, August 11th, in the US! This is nice, quick turnaround from the debut of the film at Cannes this month. Love it when a Rob film debuts at a fest and then we don't have to wait long (looking at you, QOTD).
Time to happy dance, Americans!

I suspect many of you in the US didn't get to catch this film when it was on the festival run. It still might be hard to find it in theaters which is a shame because Herzog definitely made a film you should see on the big screen. Click HERE to see if there's a theater near you but also check your local independent theaters.

Regardless of Herzog's desires, we must see Rob at all costs so mark your calendars and grab some popcorn at the grocery story because Queen of the Desert will be available on VOD April 14th and we all will see Rob's T.E. Lawrence once and for all!

Maps to the Stars released in the US today - go see Robert Pattinson if you can

It's great to see Maps to the Stars in the news again in advance of it's US release today.  I know we all just love that Rob got to work with David Cronenberg again and it's always great to see Rob on the big screen! New reviews are in and are saying all the right things ...

The Film Journal
"Maps to the Stars is a brilliantly corrosive, often hilarious portrait of a warped Hollywood"
"Jerome, the limo driver—a minor player, really—eventually gets seduced by Havana. As she hits on him from the back seat, Pattinson, observing her in the rear-view mirror, perfectly mixes prurience, curiosity and an air of why-the-hell-not?—terrific comic acting. No wonder Cronenberg loves him (see Cosmopolis)."

Indiwire (in a repost of their Cannes review)
"the director's most twisted, and as a consequence, most deliciously entertaining film, in quite a long while."
"The director's also been gifted a cracking cast for the material. Before you ask: no, Robert Pattinson isn't in it all that much ... but yes, he's pretty good in it. Plus you get to see him as a sort of glam-rock version of Khan from "Star Trek," so there's that."

Rolling Stone
"the film works as a dark comic blast into the dazzle and depravity of Hollyweird. The great Cronenberg, with the help of gifted cinematographer Peter Suschitzky, keeps us locked to reality even as the film hurtles into the absurd. You can laugh with Maps to the Stars, but you can't laugh it off. Prepare to be knocked for a loop."

LA Times
"due, in no small part, to the alarming script by Bruce Wagner, a writer best known as an envelope-pushing chronicler of Tinseltown ego and excess. He's crafted another aggressively soulless cautionary tale here about Hollywood narcissism — and it's a corker."

and for those of you in LA the LA Times also had all the LA details
MPAA rating: R for disturbing violence, sexual content, graphic nudity, language, drug material
Running time: 1 hour, 51 minutes
Playing: Sundance Sunset, Los Angeles; Laemmle's NoHo 7, North Hollywood; Laemmle's Playhouse 7, Pasadena; Regency South Coast Village 3, Santa Ana

So you know what to do, if you can get to a screening near you, go and support Rob
