Robert Pattinson Talks About Playing Someone Other Than Edward And His Accent
Robert Pattinson Talks About Playing Someone Other Than Edward And His Accent
From Entertainmentwise At the "Remember Me" Press Conference
Earlier on in the month we told you how we got oh so close to the gorgeous Robert Pattinson at the premiere of his new film, Remember Me.
And now it's time to share with you what was said behind closed doors....(Kate: Oooooh)
Playing the role of Tyler Hawkins, a troubled teen is as far as you can get from Edward Cullen, the lovelorn vampire in the Twilight saga, so what made Rob decide to play Tyler?
“Tyler as a character...I mean, it seems like most movies which have young male protagonist as the lead they have to be like a virgin to begin with and have to learn everything during the movie...but Tyler seemed like, he starts off with a lot of baggage and a very full and developed character and ends up just being developed in a slightly different way rather than just becoming 'Oh I'm fine now, after this movie, after going through this movie I'm fine...and you just never see that in films very much, especially for young people.”
And with the film being set in New York, Rob had to banish his English accent and go all American on us, but due to the professional that he is, he didn't even have to try, it came naturally.
“Sometimes when you're lucky you just read a script and the voice just comes out right. I wasn't even concious of doing a New York accent either, I don't even know what borough or anything...I've just spent a bit of time in New York; you know, just try and pick up on how people speak.
“I don't know where my accent is now, I mean I wouldn't say it was specifically London accent any more.”
It doesn't matter what accent you have Rob, we just love hearing the sound of your voice... (Kate: You can say that again! I think the reporter is a fan LOL)

Robert Pattinson's first big non-Twilight role in Remember Me sees him playing a different kind of lost soul.
Instead of vampires, the actor says this film deals with issues like losing a family member and falling in love.
His co-star Emilie de Ranvin, of Lost fame, says she had no idea about the R-Patz phenomenon when she accepted the role.

Robert Pattinson Talks About "Remember Me" And How it's Strange Playing His Character in "Bel Ami"
Good Article although no new information in it ;-) Oh and NO Spoilers.
Interview: Robert Pattinson, actor
By JAMES MOTTRAM
RIGHT now, being Robert Pattinson is a full-time business fraught with danger. The last time I saw him, the British star of the Twilight vampire franchise was in Cannes, surrounded by screaming French fans ready to sink their teeth into his flesh. With the release of Twilight sequel New Moon in November furthering "R-Patz" mania, it's now reached epidemic proportions – fuelled by his relationship with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart.
When we meet in a New York hotel it seems impossible to escape him. Posters cover the subway for his latest film, Remember Me, while shops are full of Pattinson posters, calendars and T-shirts. Meanwhile, the cover of US magazine Details sees him wedged in between a model's legs (a photo shoot that led him in the accompanying interview to say "I'm allergic to vagina" – a quote that will doubtless follow him to his grave). (Kate: I think you could be right about that!) No wonder, with his five-day stubble, unruly sideburns and unkempt James Dean-like mop of hair, he looks a little haggard.
Dressed in black jeans and a forest green puffer jacket, he says much of his day is about maintaining his sanity. "I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to not be seen," he says. "It's kind of annoying but the payoff is infinite.

Robert Pattinson Talks Extensively To Movies Online
WARNING: This is a brilliant Interview but I would only recommend reading it if you've seen the film. It contains MAJOR Spoilers!
In his new film, the romantic drama “Remember Me,” Robert Pattinson plays Tyler, a rebellious young man in New York City who has had a strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan) ever since tragedy separated their family.
Tyler didn’t think anyone could possibly understand what he was going through until the day he met Ally (Emilie de Ravin) through an unusual twist of fate. Love was the last thing on his mind, but as her spirit unexpectedly heals and inspires him, he begins to fall for her. Through their love, he begins to find happiness and meaning in his life. But soon, hidden secrets are revealed, and the circumstances that brought them together slowly threaten to tear them apart.

Robert Pattinson On New York And The Downside Of Fame
Love this Interview!
I admit, I wasn't expecting all that much out of Robert Pattinson. He's become very, very famous for playing men of few words, be it prettyboy Cedric Diggory in the fourth Harry Potter, the icy and wary Edward Cullen in that vampire thing, or the brooding Tyler in Remember Me, which is by far Pattinson's biggest role yet as a non-vampire. I was waiting for him to walk into the interview room in a cloud of smoke, hair tousled back and scowl on his face, simply daring us to ask any questions.
Saying I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement-- Pattinson was a funny, generous and totally relaxed interview, willing to laugh at himself and admit when his questions veered off into nonsense, and doing his best to answer Twilight questions even when the publicists hovered in the background to make sure we didn't get off track. The hair was totally normal too-- I guess his stylist had the afternoon off. Read below for our conversation with Pattinson, about what drew him to a romance like Remember Me, how he sees his character Tyler as an extension of himself, and the perils of unexpected fame. I was really impressed with how open he was in talking about what he does and doesn't like about the craziness that surrounds him on a daily basis. Really, I was impressed in general. Find out why below.
