“He’s Got An Amazing Voice & His Songs Are Really Contemporary” ~ Guy Pearce On Robert Pattinson
The Weekly Review chatted to Guy Pearce recently where he spoke about his music and writing songs while on set. Of course Rob came into the conversation.
I have visions of these two during The Rover filming sitting around a campfire in the outback with their guitars singing and writing songs. Oh to be a fly on a guitar.
'Pearce found film shoots the perfect place to write songs: “No dogs to walk, no family to visit”. But it was always done somewhat in secret. Which begs the question; who else is in this secret songwriter society? Who is the best actor slash songwriter too self-conscious to “come out”? “Rob Pattinson,” Pearce says, naming the Twilight megastar he recently acted alongside in The Rover.
“He’s got an amazing voice and his songs are really contemporary.”'

VIDEO: Guy Pearce praises Robert Pattinson's musical skills - Rob's "a really great songwriter"
Guy Pearce is releasing his debut album and during an interview, he gave Rob some enthused praise for his songwriting skills and mentioned how they were able to play together on The Rover. Excerpt from Daily Telegraph:
The actor has revealed he jammed with Russell Crowe when they worked together on L.A. Confidential and years later, he sang with co-star in The Rover Robert Pattinson, who he describes as a “great songwriter”.
“We had a few good plays,” said Pearce of his music sessions with Crowe. “I mean I’m not a great guitarist to be honest, Russell’s a much more formidable guitarist than I am, but we sat and compared notes and played a few songs together at times”. “You know I’ve done that with a few actors along the way — Rob Pattinson is a really great songwriter, so on the road we had a bit of time together playing music.”

Click HERE if you never heard Rob sing the song he’s performing in this pic and gif. you. will. melt. and then you’ll groan, “noooooooo” when you hear him tell the organizers 3 TIMES that he wants to play another song! do they let him? NO. they didn’t hear him and end the show. *cries* at least we have the 6+ minutes epicness."
Kate
"This is a slight cheat as it’s a gif and not a pic but this was such a cute interview and Rob was adorable (as always) with the guitar ;-)"

365 Days of Robert Pattinson: April 9 ~ Rarely Shared Pic Of Rob
I love seeing this topic pop up even though I'm USELESS at picking out rarely shared pics but I really enjoy taking trips down memory lane looking at what others have chosen.
So be sure to leave your choices in the comments below ;-)
Hope you enjoy OUR choices for today
Tink "This was shared a lot when it came out but it’s been years and he’s
doing something that’s practically extinct for him. love MusicalRob and i
get moony when i see him on stage with his guitar for an open mic.
we’ve been lucky with glimpses of MusicalRob lately but i miss his
voice. i say a little prayer frequently that The Band (or something
similar) wasn’t a flash in the pan and Rob will sing for us again one
day."
Kate
"I’m pretty crap at picking out rarely shared pics ;-} but I’m going with this one today because it’s a while since I saw it.
The lady in the pic is one of the presenters from his 2008 interview
on “The View From The Bay”. And if you haven’t seen the interview before
or you just want a refresher check it out HERE"
Kat " I would not be opposed to Rob having to dye his hair dark again for a
role. I’m a little partial to the dark locks on men. Let’s see that
happen!"

Here is the excerpt about the guitar Rob autographed:
An ESP LTD Xtone Series acoustic electric guitar signed by Robert Pattinson on the top. Serial number SK11092020. Pattinson, who played Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, was on TIME magazine's list of 100 Most Influential People in the World. As a musician, he plays the guitar and sang "Never Think" and "Let Me Sign"; both songs were featured on the soundtrack for Twilight (Summit Entertainment, 2008).
Proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
Robert Pattinson autographed guitar to be auctioned for Dio Cancer Fund Dec. 1st
We love us some MusicalRob and now we're going to see who else loves MusicalRob. Or at least who loves to collect celebrity autographs on musical instruments.
According to the LA Times, a guitar autographed by Robert Pattinson will join over 100 other autographed guitars for an auction Dec. 1st to benefit the Dio Cancer Fund. Guitars can be previewed Nov. 19th-Nov. 30th in Beverly Hills at Julien's Auctions.
Rob contributed an acoustic-electric guitar.
Not the one pictured. I just like this throwback pic of AcousticRob teasing us with clavicleporn.
The auction will be held online and live. Click HERE if you are interested in placing a bid on Rob's guitar and to get more information about the auction. This will be cool! Can't wait to see what Rob's guitar will go for. If Rob's baseball home plate artwork can go for $6,400, imagine what a fine, musical instrument with Rob's autograph could do. :)
Flashback: Addicted and devoted to Robert Pattinson and his music
We've been talking about MusicalRob on the blog recently from his jam session with Dermot to SaxophonistRob. In the comments, I catch when people say, "oh I've never seen this, never heard this, never known this!" and I saw that in those posts. We know Rob keeps his musical side pretty protected. The last recording we were privy to was made over two years ago and shared publicly well over a year after that (It's All On You). If you're new to Robsession, you might not know all that is out there with Rob's musical stamp on it.
Since MusicalRob is so beloved, doesn't take much for us to do a post like this :) Let's review all the gems we have from one talented man.
4 years ago, music Rob had self recorded leaked out and gave fans an awesome sampling of his soulful, raw vocal quality. Stray Dog and I'll Be Your Lover Too are my favorites from that series.
Stray Dog
I'll Be Your Lover Too
To Roam
To Roam video with lyrics
Rob also used to frequent open mics and there are a couple videos that captured either his performance of the vocals. The first song that reached my heart and clenched it was I Was Broken. LAWD the emotion in his voice. I heard it first in May 2009, when I became Robsessed. Rob's talent was everywhere in my searches for who this guy playing Edward Cullen was.
I Was Broken - written by Rob's friend Marcus Foster
This is the full version, vocal recording only, also worth a listen. Love the tone he starts the song with.
I adore this live version of Stray Dog. It also kills me because had I been Robsessed during the fall of 08 and not spring of 09, I might have caught this performance in LA.
Stray Dog
These recordings are two more Marcus Foster songs performed live by Rob. Not the best recording but you can hear Rob setting up his songs and singing to his heart's content.
In Your Head
I Don't Mind
More MusicalRob and official recordings after the cut!
Robert Pattinson jams on a guitar while Dermot Mulroney plays cello. I die.
Oh MAN. Do you want to be envious of people's ears? Today is your lucky day.
Adam Shankman (So You Think You Can Dance judge), choreographer as well as director (Rock of Ages) and producer (produced the Oscars in 2010), tweeted the following:
Brilliant and stupefying is right! His ears got lucky last night, Sept. 15th, presumably in Los Angeles (Shankman was at the Power of Youth awards show in Hollywood earlier that day).
Lucky bastard. Ok....going back to being green and imagine Rob strumming away on a guitar while the strings of a cello croon along with him. Click HERE to hear Dermot on the cello. You guys remember Rob has a cello right? Click HERE for that refresher. Or watch the vid below if you can see MTV
And since MTV isn't user friendly for the entire world, let's turn to youtube and listen to our last recording of Rob playing guitar and singing so we have more aids for our running imaginations. I DIE.
We brought you some pics earlier today of Robert Pattinson leaving St Thomas. Check them out HERE if you missed them. Now here's some more for you.
How's a girl suppose to survive the Jaw Porn, Pouty Lips, Wonky Legs and of course those fingers!?! These pics have got them all. You have been warned.
UPDATED: Ask and you shall receive...kinda. We might not have an exact date for when we'll see the rest of Rob's performance but Sofarsounds did respond to the inquiry.
So looks like "it's allll on youuuuuuu", Rob! Maybe he can approve the release as a Christmas gift for his fans? Or a Welcome To The New Year gift? Hmm?
Robert Pattinson at Norman's Rare Gutairs Nov. 27th in Los Angeles
From Norman's facebook via Robstenation: "Thanks Robert Pattinson for stopping by Norman's Rare Guitars on Saturday. Robert bought a Fender Stratocaster John English Master Built Zebrawood Guitar! Enjoy that amazing guitar!"
Because every kind of list should be made (lists are good) - here's a new one I haven't heard of before - a list of Minimalist Celebs! And of course Robert Pattinson made it!
The List includes New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, “Mad Men” actor Vincent Kartheiser, Canadian singer Jane Siberry, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, and our beloved Rob.
“Twilight” star Robert Pattinson probably gets lots of presents from fans and brands that want to be associated with his pretty mug, but apparently, he’s not into material things. “I’m not one for comforts and stuff. I think I can kind of do without most things. I bought a really nice guitar recently, which is the only thing I’ve ever really spent a lot of money on,” he said. “But that’s the only thing. I had my apartment in London before when I was unemployed—this tiny little place and I liked it more. You had to walk through a restaurant kitchen and up this staircase filled with trash and there’s no heating. I like that. But now it’s quite difficult. I can’t live in places like that anymore.” Which is a shame because living on the other side of a restaurant kitchen sounds perfect for midnight snacking shenanigans.
