VIDEO: USA & Canada, get ready for to see Robert Pattinson in LIFE!
It's finally here!!!! I am SOOOOOO excited to see Rob in his first leading role since Cosmopolis! I just want to go around and shake people so I can get rid of my excited energy.
Instead of abusing strangers, I'm going to head to my theater first thing and see BIGSCREENROB!!!!
Now, I know many of you are not going to be able to see the film on the big screen but it is also going to be available on VOD, iTunes and Amazon.
We've been waiting a long time for this baby! Dreaming of Rob has a great fanvid to get you pumped and ready to see Robert Pattinson in LIFE!
Sooooooo.....are you going to support Rob this weekend, nourish your ROBsession and check out his latest film, LIFE???
Anton Corbijn talks about LIFE and Robert Pattinson: "He works very hard to be valued as an actor"
Excerpt from The Playlist:
I believe you said you’d make three films and then evaluate from there, and “Life” is your fourth film. Yeah and for the first three films I made a book about the films because I also [thought they were] going to be my last films. It’s just snapshots with some lighting. But for the fourth film I decided not to do it anymore, so I don’t feel it’s my last film.
That’s interesting there’s no book, just because “Life” has a photography component, with Dennis Stock.I know, and it’s always in the back of your mind because you have the camera ready if there’s a picture I can take anywhere. But you should actually concentrate on other things. And with “Life,” we shot it in the winter in New York and Toronto, and it was the worst winter in 30 years. I have very low blood pressure so I can’t touch these things.
In “Life,” Dane DeHaan will be playing James Dean. How difficult was it to cast someone in that role?It was difficult. Also I think for the actors it’s very difficult to step in his shoes. But Dane DeHaan plays it well. He’s a tremendous actor. I don’t think he wanted to do it initially. He wouldn’t take a meeting with me because he didn’t want to be persuaded. But luckily he came to me and he was persuaded. He’s amazing.
He’s great in “Kill Your Darlings.”Yeah, and “Place Beyond the Pines.” I haven’t seen “Spider-Man [2].” “Lawless” I have seen. And he’s in “Devil’s Knot” and “Life After Beth.” I haven’t seen that. I was in Sundance but I didn’t manage to see a single film.
What about Robert Pattinson’s work in the movie?Rob and Dan very different kind of actors. They’re very, very different kind of people in the film, so it was fantastic. They were so different naturally. For Rob to play a photographer is quite interesting because he’s being chased by photographers all the time. Rob is of course a film star, but he likes to be seen as an actor, so he works very hard to be an actor and be valued as an actor. And in the film he plays this photographer who wants to be seen as a great photographer. So I think there’s a parallel there that’s helpful.
He’s made a lot of interesting acting choices, “Cosmopolis”…...Yeah, “The Rover.” I hear that “Map to the Stars” is a really great film. I am looking forward to seeing it.
I was hoping to see “Life” announced as part of the TIFF 2014 lineup. Yeah, I was hoping that too, but we are too far from finishing, because we finished [shooting] in late October.
Will we see it at on the fall festival circuit anywhere?I reckon it will be 2015.I'm so so so looking forward to this film in 2015. SO looking forward.
Robert Pattinson will jumpstart your summer! Get ready for The Rover!
With the Cannes Film Fest announcements around the corner (April 17!), it's fun to see The Rover continuing to pop up on lists. Summer is usually characterized with superheroes and oversized, CGI-laden action flicks. But thanks to Rob and co., our superheroes will be Rob and Guy and our action will be grittier and more real.
The Wrap has joined the summer lovin' for The Rover and included the film as 19 out of 50 on their list of 49 (they can't count) Summer Movies On Our Radar!
Oooooooo the positive buzz gets me movin'!
But before our Summer Of ReyRob hits, Cannes buzz is basically a....
We have Variety including The Rover again on a Cannes Wish List (15 Movies Our Critics Hope To See At This Year's Festival) and the French press (Le Figaro; Paris Match; Les Inrocks; Premiere) is including not just The Rover but also Maps To The Stars in their Cannes predictions. Click HERE to read the english translations complied by Pattinson Art Work.
Are you guys ready? I feel like you aren't. What kind of precautions are you taking to handle the EPICNESS that will be CannesRob3.0??
You've been warned. He's coming.
MOVIE NEWS: Robert Pattinson completes filming in Toronto, The Rover release dates move closer and more!
We're about to hit some limbo action with WorkingRob. @seansmovies has been tracking filming in Toronto for Life and tweeted that production wrapped in Toronto.
At the same time, it looks like some more filming will take place in Los Angeles. An extra located in LA (also a casting director for extras) shared some paperwork on his instagram for upcoming extra work on Life and a Rob sighting has already sprung on twitter. Dennis Stock met James Dean at Chateau Marmont so it would be pretty cool if some filming took place at the famous Hollywood hotel.
What's next for Rob after Life? Well Embankment Films still has Mission: Blacklist listed as second quarter 2014 on their website and there's been no updates for The Childhood of a Leader beyond the last word of May 2014. The Lost City of Z is still sitting on summer 2014. So we'll have to wait and see which film is up to bat next.
In the meantime, with announcements coming April 17, we've got the Cannes buzz basically a loud BANG right now. Variety is the latest to list both Maps To The Stars and The Rover for Cannes potential. French press is also talking up Maps To The Stars and The Wrap mentioned seeing Rob on the Croisette with both films.
Speaking of The Rover, Australia's release date was moved up as well!
Rob: ooohmyGAAAWD
The film was originally slated for July 31st but has been moved to June 12th! The country joins the US with the June release date. We reached out to our eOne contact to see if the UK and Canada will also join the US and Australia but they weren't ready to confirm a theatrical release. So sit tight just a little but longer. We'll see what happens. They know you want it NOW!
The anticipation kills us, non? And finally, speaking of anticipating Rob's films, IONCINEMA has rightly decided to list every upcoming Rob film in their most anticipated lists for 2014 and 2015.
200 Most Anticipated Films for 2014

- The Lost City of Z: #52

ARE YOU READY FOR REYBERT?????

Robert Pattinson's The Rover has media outlets buzzing: "awesome", "extremely promising", "can't wait" and MORE!
UPDATE2: I liked what Hey U Guys had to say so I added it to the bottom! Also included Up and Comers.
UPDATE: Added a few more at the bottom!
The first official still from The Rover came out today and the response has been GREAT! It's awesome to see positive articles about Rob's work in google alerts and we have to celebrate that. One site went above and beyond the standard "looking pretty good-cue Twilight diss-can't wait to see more" narrative. We Got This Covered had this to say about Rob and The Rover:
There’s a lot of reasons to look forward to The Rover. Firstly, its director David Michod’s follow-up to the extremely successful and very well made Animal Kingdom, a film that I was really, really impressed by. Secondly, it stars two actors who are often overlooked: Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce.
Allow me to clarify that last comment. Yes, Pattinson is a mega-star but his acting talents are usually downplayed. Most critics don’t give him enough credit but if you’ve seen him in anything outside of Twilight, you’ll know that he’s quite a talented individual, capable of giving great performances. For all the backlash he gets for starring in the Twilight films, I actually really enjoy Pattinson as an actor and am very happy to see him taking on more mature, dramatic roles like this.
...
Excited yet? We sure are. And can you blame us? The trio of Michod, Pattinson and Pearce is an extremely promising one and that first look photo above looks great, I can’t wait to see the two actors face off against each other.
- CinemaBlend: The Twilight series made Robert Pattinson a star, but also put the 26-year-old actor into a deep dreamboat hole that can threaten the longevity of an actor's career. So, taking a page from the smart pretty boys who came before him (Brad Pitt, Jude Law and Leonardo DiCaprio come to mind), he followed up his heartthrob role with something deeply indie, and niche-shatteringly deranged. David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis forced critics worn out by Twilight to reconsider Pattinson as he played a smarmy billionaire so numb he turns to self-destruction for salvation. And now, he's gearing up for a different version of grittiness in David MichĂ´d's The Rover.
- TheFilmStage: After proving his acting chops in last year’s twisted, overlooked David Cronenberg-directed drama Cosmopolis, Robert Pattinson is returning in 2013 with another highly-anticipated project,
- ThePlaylist: We gotta admit, we sort of forgot this one was happening, but we have to say, we're glad it is...no word yet on a release date, but we'd wager 2014. Either way, we'll be looking forward to it.
- MTV Movie Blog editor: "The Rover" with Robert Pattinson is already looking pretty great.
- RopeOfSilicon: Pearce Points Pistol at Pattinson in New Picture..."giving you a look at just how down in the dirt this pic is going to get."
- Flix66: Obviously Robert Pattinson has annoyed a very dirty and hairy looking Guy Pearce in this photo, so it’ll be interesting to see how all of that plays out when this movie hits theaters.
- FirstShowing: If seeing Robert Pattinson step outside his sparkly vampire self from The Twilight Saga for more serious dramas like Water for Elephants and Cosmopolis just didn't sit right with you, then we have a new film that might work.
- MovieFone: Robert Pattinson's latest bid to shed his "Twilight" reputation is the dystopian drama "The Rover," and as you can see below, he's taking quite a beating from Guy Pearce to prove he's no longer Edward Cullen.
- CinemaTeaser: Awesome first pic for David MichĂ´d's THE ROVER with Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson
- MovieHole: First still of Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce in David Michod's "The Rover". Script is apparently ace!
- Collider: Michod promises that The Rover is going to be “way more chillingly authentic and menacing” than those films. That’s some strong talk, but considering how great Animal Kingdom is, I’m inclined to take Michod’s word for it.
- EmpireOnline: “You put cars in the desert in Australia and people are going to think of Mad Max,” says MichĂ´d. “And with all due respect to that film –and I stress that – I think The Rover is going to be way more chillingly authentic and menacing.” We believe him on both counts.
- HeatWorld: Whether Robert Pattinson's playing a teen wizard in Harry Potter, a vampire in Twilight or a fan of large mammals in Water For Elephants, he just always looks H-O-T. And his new movie's no exception.
- TheMovies: You know what? Robert Pattinson is actually a pretty damn good actor.
- UpandComers: With the “Twilight” franchise well and truly finished, Robert Pattinson is finally free to move on from Edward Cullen for good – and set pictures from his new film “The Rover” show a very different Pattinson. With a buzz cut, fake yellow teeth and facial hair, the British actor looks to be settling in to filming alongside Guy Pearce (“Lawless”) in David Michod‘s futuristic drama....Pattinson has a busy few years ahead of him following his meteoric rise to fame thanks to the role of Edward Cullen in Summit’s adaptation of the Stephanie Meyer novels. The “Twilight” franchise was a worldwide phenonemon but Pattinson has made smart career decisions, ensuring he isn’t pigeon-holed. Last year he premiered the David Cronenberg pic “Cosmopolis” at Cannes Film Festival, and later this year will begin shooting Jean-StĂ©phane Sauvaire’s “Mission Blacklist”, playing the man who spearheaded the capture of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. He will also play a young Lawrence of Arabia in Werner Herzog’s “Queen of the Desert” and join Carey Mulligan in crime drama “Hold On To Me“.
- HeyUGuys: David MichĂ´d made a remarkable feature debut in 2010 with Animal Kingdom, and it’s no surprise that we’re looking forward to his sophomore film, The Rover. The film features an all-star cast, led by Guy Pearce, Robert Pattinson, and Scoot McNairy, and with the three on board for MichĂ´d, it’s definitely shaping up to be a must-see next year. And in case you weren’t looking forward to it already, the first image of Pearce and Pattinson has been released, giving a great idea of what we can expect from MichĂ´d here....The Rover is currently without a release date, but we’re expecting it to arrive sometime in 2014. With any luck, it’ll be fairly early next year. And though it’s early days yet, given the success of MichĂ´d’s Animal Kingdom, we might even have an Oscar contender here for the end of this year.

This makes me happy on so many levels…When they announced that he was adapting Don DeLillo’s “Cosmopolis” into a film, it was exciting because the author’s voice is so distinct and strong that watching Cronenberg insert his own perspective into that material seemed like an exciting creative cocktail….The casting of Robert Pattinson in the film is one of those fiendishly clever strokes of genius from Cronenberg…Just take a look at the trailer and tell me if it makes you smile as much as it does for me.
For those who thought David Cronenberg went soft on us with his acclaimed period drama “A Dangerous Method,” prepare to be surprised.
After his brief (and admittedly delightful) foray into the world of tea and psychoanalysis with A Dangerous Method, it’s good to see David Cronenberg heading straight back to mindfuck country with Cosmopolis, his upcoming, sure-to-be-Cannes-premiering Don DeLillo adaptation starring Robert Pattinson in his first major post-Twilight role. And what a way to leave the franchise!
Judging from the teaser trailer for “Cosmopolis,” the director’s next outing looks to be as intense, violent and sexual as anything he’s ever done.
Weird, Whacky and OG Cronenberg is Back With Cosmopolis…Definitely check out this trailer and enjoy.

David Cronenberg says Robert Pattinson is brilliant in Cosmopolis
Excerpted from MovieWeb:
Do you think this will be the project that really sets Robert (Pattinson) apart from his past, so to speak?
David Cronenberg: I have no control over that, obviously. All I know is, as with Keira, I thought that Robert was very underrated. I mean, Keira has done more work than Robert has, but in England, they're always on her for whatever weird English class reasons. I'm not sure what that is. I always thought she was a substantial actress, and I had no doubt that she could really ace this role. I felt the same about Rob. The fate of the movie, though, who knows. I certainly think this. I don't think that any director who's looking to see what Rob can do, will not be able to see how terrific he is by looking at Cosmopolis. Even if the movie isn't a success at the box office, creatively, as far as I'm concerned, it is a success, and for Rob, it totally is. He's brilliant in the movie, he's fabulous. If nothing else, it will be a great demo film for Rob, for any other director who's looking for a great actor.
Do you love it or do you LOVE IT?!?

Robert Pattinson is mentioned by David Cronenberg and Cosmopolis cast
The Q & A at the Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival, Rob was mentioned during Cosmopolis discussion.
Opening of the panel: 3:25 Paul starts talking about Cosmopolis and mentions Rob during his story
At the very beginning and then at about 8:00. Great quotes from Cronenberg after the 8 minute mark
At 6:30 MUST LISTEN!!! David then Sarah then David again :')))
At 4:17 more Rob talk. Great story from Paul Giamatti about getting into his role and talking to Rob about researching their characters.
I am SO pleased with the maturity and respect shown in this panel. Such a contrast to what we experienced with yesterdays Twilight panel. So happy for Rob to be a part of this film and working with this caliber of talent.

We love Rob speaking in other languages! Heck, we love Rob doing anything but the language thing is the inspiration for the post right now.
Jack Morrissey is at it again with sharing fun details about Breaking Dawn. The official soundtrack track listing came out yesterday and Jack did not disappoint with a Q&A on twitter. He gave us some fun Rob tidbits as well. :)
- Rob will speak Portuguese in Breaking Dawn! YUMMMMMMM!
- Rob has seen a rough final cut of BD.
- Direct quote: "I'm a bit unclear but either Rob isn't doing anything much at the moment with his music, or he wants to keep it separate."
- Jack isn't sure if Rob was asked to be on the BD soundtrack or not.
- We'll need after-sex smokes for the sex scenes in BD1 and 2. Well then!
- Me: Do any characters have a flashback scene? might we see a beloved vampire as human?
- Jack: Hmmm, no, I don't think so.
- Me: yeah...now i think @Jack_Morrissey crushed my Edward-with-green-eyes dream. im back to nothing good can come of this game
- Jack: You're going to get something you're going to be really happy with, trust me.
- Fan (@vonch): no flashback for human Edward :(
- Jack: Something better.
*SQUEEEEEEEE* This excited and satisfied me greatly.
