Robert Pattinson In Talks To Star In Bong Joon Ho's Next Film

Robert Pattinson In Talks To Star In Bong Joon Ho's Next Film

Exciting news from Deadline about a possible new project for Rob!

 From Deadline:

"After taking nearly two years to figure out his next project following his Oscar sweep in 2020 with Parasite, director Bong Joon Ho looks to have found his next film and is taking a certain Caped Crusader along for the ride. Sources tell Deadline that Bong is in talks to write and direct an untitled film based on Edward Ashton’s upcoming novel Mickey7 for Warner Bros, and that The Batman star Robert Pattinson is in talks to star. Bong will also produce the untitled film for his production company Offscreen alongside Dooho Choi for Kate Street Picture Company and Plan B.

.......

It wasn’t long before Bong and execs were impressed with Pattinson following his meeting and felt he was perfect for the role, with an offer going out right before the new year.

......

As for Pattinson, this would mark his first film he has signed onto since finishing production on the anticipated The Batman. Warner Bros has already shown how much it plans to stay in business with him by recently signing him to a first-look deal. The Batman bows on March 4."

NEW ROLE: Robert Pattinson Has Joined The Cast Of Christopher Nolan's New Movie

Collider exclusively reported that Rob has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's new (as yet unnamed) blockbuster.

From Collider
The pieces of Christopher Nolan‘s next cinematic puzzle are starting to fall into place, as Robert Pattinson is poised to star opposite John David Washington in the next film from the director of Inception, Collider has exclusively learned.

With plot details being kept under wraps, little is known about the actual film, though Variety described it as “a massive, innovative action blockbuster” that will once again be shown in IMAX — no surprise given Nolan’s preference for the large-screen format. Nolan will produce alongside his wife and longtime collaborator, Emma Thomas, and Warner Bros. will release the movie on July 17, 2020, with production expected to start this summer.

My understanding is that Pattinson and Washington (BlacKkKlansman) will play the two leads, and there will also be an age-appropriate female lead, as well as an older male co-star. I don’t know if there’s a love triangle in play here, or whether Pattinson and Washington will be friends or enemies, so just like all of you, I can’t wait to find out what Nolan’s next movie is actually about. There’s speculation that the film could be a sequel of sorts to Inception, and while I don’t expect that to be the case — outside of his Batman trilogy, Nolan has eschewed franchise fare, including sequels — I suppose anything is possible. You never know with Nolan, who’s coming off of 2017’s Dunkirk, which brought him his first Oscar nomination as a director and grossed $526 million worldwide, so the world (and Hollywood especially) is his oyster.

From Variety
Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson are on board to co-star with John David Washington in Christopher Nolan’s next movie, Variety has learned.

Nolan recently finished the script for the currently untitled film and Warner Bros. quickly dated it for July 17, 2020 — a slot the studio often reserves for the director, most recently with “Dunkirk.” Not only was that film a success at the box office, bringing in $526 million worldwide, but it also earned Nolan an Oscar nomination for director, his first in the category.

The project has become one of the more highly coveted ones in Hollywood, even though most of the industry has been kept in the dark about everything from casting to plot details. One insider described the pic as a massive action blockbuster, which will again be shown in Imax.

NEW PROJECT: Robert Pattinson Joins Robert Eggers’ Fantasy Horror Film ‘The Lighthouse’

Deadline have confirmed the rumours that were going around last week about Rob joining the cast of The Lighthouse. It sounds like a very exciting project indeed!

 photo SoBusy.gif

From Deadline
EXCLUSIVE: RT Features and A24 have firmed their re-team with director Robert Eggers on The Lighthouse, the filmmaker’s followup to his sleeper hit The Witch. The new project, a fantasy horror story set in the world of old sea-faring myths, will go into production this spring. Robert Pattinson, coming off Good Time, joins the project in a lead role alongside Willem Dafoe.

The script was written by Robert Eggers and Max Eggers. RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira and Lourenço Sant’ Anna developed the project with Eggers and are producing alongside Parts & Labor’s Jay Van Hoy, and Youree Henley. A24 acquired worldwide rights and will distribute the film in the U.S. New Regency (The Revenant) has joined the project as a co-financier.

Said Eggers: “I am extremely happy to be working with RT, A24, and Parts & Labor again. Along with New Regency, they are providing me and my collaborators with the support and freedom to make this film the way it needs to be made. It’s a privilege.”

RT Features’ Teixeira called Pattinson “one of the most talented actors working today. We are excited to work with him and Eggers, a singular filmmaker whose unique vision we support. Our collaboration on The Witch was flawless and we look forward to re-uniting along with our partners at A24, Parts & Labor and New Regency.”

In addition to his critically acclaimed turn in Good Time, Pattinson starred in David & Nathan Zellner-directed Damsel which debuted at Sundance last month. He recently wrapped the Claire Denis-directed sci-fi thriller High Life. Pattinson is repped by WME, Curtis Brown Group and 3 Arts Entertainment.

New Sparta Films (NSF) is delighted to announce its involvement in the financing of Martin Koolhoven’s Brimstone.

“Retribution is coming”

The film, written and directed by Koolhoven and produced by Els Vandervorst of N279 Productions, stars Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson and Carice van Houten and is set to commence shooting in Germany and Spain in June 2015 with a second period of shooting in Romania later in the year.

Brimstone is a triumphant epic of survival, set in the searing wilds of the badlands, the menacing inferno of the Old American West. It is a tale of powerful womanhood and resistance against the unforgiving cruelty of a Hell on earth.

It is a dark tale, but gripping and emotionally fulfilling.

Robert Pattinson lets it go on the cover of Première

With two films in Cannes - The Rover and Maps to the Stars - Robert Pattinson is on the cover of Premiere Magazine.

That's it, Robert Pattinson has definitely moved up a gear and left Twilight behind him. We will see him in two highly anticipated movies at Cannes Film Festival 2014: The Rover, a post-apocalyptic and hyper violent western, brutal and uncompromising, and Maps to the Stars, his second collaboration with David Cronenberg after Cosmopolis, a psychological family drama which autopsy Hollywood. The perfect opportunity to put him on the cover of next issue of Premiere, the Cannes issue, with its special file about Cannes, which reports on all the movies and events of this year 2014 on the Croisette.

The opportunity to interview Robert too: he talks about his sex scene with Julianne Moore in Maps to the Stars ("I was breathless, soaked ... and her, not at all"), about the hyper intense filming of The Rover (a "hungry" movie) in the middle of the Australian desert, about what Cannes means for him, about directors James Gray and Romain Gavras ... And most importantly, as you can see on our cover, the opportunity to discover the former Edward Cullen like no one has ever seen him before on a photoshoot ... colorful, we will say. Proof by picture.

This issue will be available on newsstands next Wednesday.

Maps to the Stars released on May 21 and The Rover on June 4 (for France)

Mathieu Carratier did the interview with Robert Pattinson and has been tweeting a few bits of info on his twitter account

'The Lost City Of Z' ~ NEW PROJECT For Robert Pattinson

'The Lost City Of Z' ~ NEW PROJECT For Robert Pattinson

 photo RobertPattinsonampBenedictCumberbatch.jpg

Check this out!

Screendaily is reporting on it's AFM's dailies that Rob will star with Benedict Cumberbatch in an adventure story called  "The Lost City Of Z"

 photo ScreenShot2013-11-06at170637-1.png
Details from the IMDB page for "The Lost City Of Z":
In 1925, Fawcett ventured into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, hoping to make one of the most important discoveries in history. For centuries Europeans believed the world's largest jungle concealed the glittering kingdom of El Dorado. Thousands had died looking for it, leaving many scientists convinced that the Amazon was truly inimical to humans. But Fawcett, whose daring expeditions inspired Conan Doyle's The Lost World, had spent years building his scientific case. Captivating the imagination of millions round the globe, Fawcett embarked with his son, determined to prove that this ancient civilization--which he dubbed Z--existed. Then his expedition vanished.
Benedict Cumberbatch is listed on IMDB as playing Lt. Col. Percival Fawcett. Nothing mentioned for Rob yet but he could be playing Fawcett's son Jack or Jack's friend Raleigh both of whom went with Percy to the jungle. We will update if/when there's anymore news/confirmation about this and if you want to read more about Percy click HERE

Last year in an interview with French Magazine 'Premiere' Rob spoke about wanting to work with James Gray. He said: "Not a lot of filmmakers can reach Jacques Audiard's level except maybe James Gray, with whom I dream of working.". If you'd like a refresher of the full interview, you can check it out HERE

From Screendaily
Inferno Entertainment has come aboard as international sales agent on James Gray’s red-hot adventure project The Lost City Of Z to star Brad Pitt.

Buyers have been flocking to the project, which is being styled in the vein of Lawrence Of Arabia and is based on Gray’s adapted screenplay of David Grann’s recent bestseller.
The true story takes place in the early twentieth century and charts 30 years in the life of Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett, a former decorated British soldier turned explorer.

Fawcett developed an obsession for the Amazon and became convinced that an advanced civilisation lived within the interior after several adrenaline-fuelled expeditions where he narrowly escaped death from tribal encounters, deadly animals and devastating diseases.
He eventually lost backing for the trips and self-funded a final trek into the Amazon with his son from which neither returned.

It is understood Pitt’s Plan B will produce. Inferno’s Bill Johnson and Jim Siebel declined to comment, however they would most likely come aboard as executive producers.
MORE Details from Deadline (head over there for the full article)
The film is based on the David Grann bestselling book. Cumberbatch is in talks to play Percy Fawcett, who in 1925 headed into the depths of the Amazon jungles in Brazil. Fawcett was there to map the jungle and, hobbled by malaria, he discovered a mythical city he called The Lost City Of Z. Scorned by peers who claimed that this ancient kingdom was a fraud, Fawcett headed back into the jungle with his son and one other, braving the dangers of disease, insects, snakes, poison darts and other hazards to reinforce his discovery. None of them were ever seen again and it remains one of the great exploration mysteries of the 20th Century.
Plan B‘s Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Anthony Katagas (who worked with Cumberbatch on 12 Years A Slave) will produce. Plan B has been developing the project for several years, and it initially seemed like Pitt would be heading into the jungles.
This report is from ThePlaylist confirming Rob's attachment to the movie:
Last month when we chatted with director James Gray, he cautioned that the fate of his long developing "The Lost City Of Z" depended on how things panned out at this weeks American Film Market. He already put a good foot forward, landing Benedict Cumberbatch for a starring role in the film, and it hopefully this latest bit of casting can put it over the top.

Screen Daily reveals in their print issue from the floor of AFM, that Robert Pattinson is also on board the movie, that Panorama Media is financing and selling rights for as well. The movie is being produced by Brad Pitt's shingle Plan B (he was going to star in a previous iteration of the film before it fell apart at Paramount) and is an adaptation of David Grann's book tell the story of English soldier-turned-explorer Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett, whose obsession with the Amazon and belief that an ancient civilization resided there led him on many expeditions where he narrowly escaped death. After financing eventually dried up, Fawcett self-funded one last adventure into the Amazon with his son, from which neither returned. We presume Cumberbatch will play Fawcett, and while there's no word yet on Pattinson's role, perhaps he'll play the son?

As for the tone of the picture, Gray had said to us he's aiming for the epic scale of David Lean but with a “slightly more hallucinogenic feel. Because [the protagonist] went to the jungle and sorta went mad.” So yes, fingers crossed this gets rolling in 2014.

Meanwhile, in case you were worried, Pattinson is still attached to Werner Herzog's "Queen Of The Desert." Recent trade reports about the movie notably didn't have his name among the cast of Nicole Kidman, James Franco (yes, he's confirmed now according to Screen Daily) and Damian Lewis, but rest assured he'll be there. And 2014 spent working with Herzog and Gray? Nicely done, RPatz.
And another confirmation from The Wrap:
Robert Pattinson will join Benedict Cumberbatch in James Gray’s “The Lost City of Z,” an individual familiar with the long-gestating project has told TheWrap.

Brad Pitt was initially attached to star in the adaptation of David Grann’s acclaimed book, though he’s now strictly producing the film through his Plan B banner along with Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Anthony Katagas.

“Lost City of Z” follows Percy Fawcett, a British colonial who disappeared in the 1920s while searching for a mythical city in the Amazon jungles of Brazil that he believed he discovered on a prior expedition.

Pattinson’s role remains unclear at this time.

Panorama Media will finance “Lost City of Z” and handle foreign sales.

The film continues Pattinson’s streak of working with talented filmmakers. He recently wrapped David Cronenberg’s “Maps to the Stars” and next stars opposite Guy Pearce in David Michod’s thriller “The Rover.” Pattinson is also attached to star in Werner Herzog’s “Queen of the Desert” and Anton Corbijn’s “Life.” He’s represented by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment.
James Gray was interviewed by Allociné  and spoke about "The Lost City Of Z" (Translation Thanks To Pattinson Art Work):
"This is the kind of movie that starts, is about to be made, then collapses," explains James Gray when we approach one of his sea snakes, which dates back a few years ago. Originally planned for Brad Pitt, the film will finally be lead by Benedict Cumberbatch. The popular English will embody Percy Harrison Fawcett, "a man sent in the Amazon jungle. First, for professional reasons, until he went in search of a lost city to prove its existence. Everybody thought he went mad, but he embarked with his son into the jungle to help him find it.

"Adapted from David Grann's the novel by James Gray himself, the script offers the possibility to stage "a wonderful story about a man driven by his obsession." And the filmmaker to add that he puts "huge hopes in this project. This will be an historical drama that will become hallucinogenic and psychedelic at various points. The combination between drama and history and the madness born from the solitude in the jungle has a tremendous dramatic potential."

Robert Pattinson To Star In Anton Corbijn’s "Life" As Magnum Photographer Dennis Stock

Exciting news. A new project for Rob. He'll be starring in Anton Corbijn’s "Life" playing Magnum Photographer Dennis Stock. Filming is scheduled to start in Canada in Feb 2014.

Check out more details about Rob's new project below!! What a week it has been for Rob and for his fans.

 photo robert_pattinson_dane_dehaan.jpg

From Screendaily:
EXCLUSIVE: Robert Pattinson will star as Magnum photographer Dennis Stock and Dane DeHaan will play James Dean in Anton Corbijn’s Life. FilmNation handles international sales and will introduce the script to buyers in Toronto.

See-Saw Films’ Iain Canning and Emile Sherman produce with Christina Piovesan of First Generation Films, marking a post-The King’s Speech reunion between See-Saw and FilmNation. CAA holds US rights.

Luke Davies wrote the screenplay to Life, which chronicles the friendship that ensued when the straight-laced Stock embarked on a road trip with Dean in 1955 for a Life magazine commission.

Filming is scheduled to commence production in February 2014 on location in Canada.

“As an internationally celebrated photographer, Anton Corbijn is the perfect filmmaker to direct Life,” said Canning and Sherman. “Finding the right actor to play James Dean was a big responsibility, but Dane’s body of work has proved what a chameleon he is and what he will contribute to the role.

“Casting Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan brings together two of the most exciting young actors of their generation.”

“We were fortunate to work with Anton on A Most Wanted Man and are thrilled to be a part of his next film,” said FilmNation CEO Glen Basner. “His incredible talent combined with the chemistry between Dane and Robert will bring to life the fascinating story of the fast friendship formed at a very pivotal time in Dean’s life.

“The project also marks our re-teaming with See-Saw Films whose impressive track record continuously keeps them a top-player in international film production.”

Pattinson will next be see in David Michôd’s The Rover and starred in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis as well as the Twilight franchise. He recently wrapped on Cronenberg’s Maps To The Stars .
From The Hollywood Reporter
Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan are teaming up to star in Life, the true story about the friendship between James Dean and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock.

DeHaan will bring Dean to life while Pattinson will portray Stock in the movie being directed by Anton Corbijn.

Iain Canning, who produced the Oscar-winning drama The King's Speech and the acclaimed Michael Fassbender drama Shame, is producing Life with his See-Saw Films partner, Emile Sherman.

Stock was a young photographer working for the Magnum agency when he received an assignment that changed his life: to shoot a free-spirited actor named James Dean.

The gig became a personal journey for both as they traveled from L.A. to New York to Indiana. During the trip, Stock captured now-iconic images of the actor before he was launched to stardom with East of Eden (1955).

The movie, with a script by Luke Davies and a budget in the $10 million to $15 million range, is eyeing a shoot in early 2014.

Pattinson (WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, Sloane Offer) recently wrapped David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars as well as The Rover, the futuristic thriller that also stars Guy Pearce.
 From Indiewire
The mystical allure of James Dean continues from beyond the grave: Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan have signed up to star in "Life," which The Hollywood Reporter says is "the true story about the friendship between James Dean and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock." DeHaan will play Dean and Pattinson will play Stock (sorry ladies). Noted photographer and director Anton Corbijn, whose last movie was the sorely underrated George Clooney thriller "The American," will direct. The film is being shopped in Toronto.

The script, by Luke Davies, follows Stock as a young photographer who gets an assignment to shoot James Dean, then a rising star. The pair's life became intertwined personally and professionally and Stock would end up shooting some of the most iconic photos of Dean, shortly before "East of Eden" cemented his place as a Hollywood icon.
Iain Canning is producing alongside Emile Sherman. Pattinson has a number of exciting projects in the works, including David Cronenberg's new film "Maps to the Stars," as well as the post-apocalyptic western "The Rover" from "Animal Kingdom" director David Michod. DeHaan will be in Toronto to promote "The Devil's Knot," the dramatization of the West Memphis Three case from director Atom Egoyan, and can be seen next summer in some little art house movie "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." Corbijn's next feature, "A Most Wanted Man," based on the John le Carre novel and starring Rachel McAdams and Robin Wright, opens in the UK on November 22nd (no domestic release date has been set).

Considering Corbijn got his start as a rock'n'roll photographer, capturing glamorous and gorgeous larger-than-life figures, this should be the perfect material for him.
From The Wrap
Dane DeHaan will play James Dean and Robert Pattinson will play Magnum photographer Dennis Stock in Anton Corbijn’s “Life,” which FilmNation will be selling to international buyers at the Toronto market. “The King’s Speech” producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman of See-Saw Films are producing with Christina Piovesan of First Generation Films. Written by Luke Davies, “Life” follows the friendship that Stock struck up with Dean when he was commissioned to photograph the budding young actor. Production is scheduled to start in February in Canada. CAA is handling U.S. rights. Like Stock, Corbijn is also a celebrated photographer whose visual gifts served him well on films such as “Control,” “The American” and the upcoming thriller “A Most Wanted Man.” “Twilight” sensation Pattinson next stars in David Michod’s “The Rover” and David Cronenberg’s “Maps To The Stars .”

Here's what The Film Stage had to say:
First revealed earlier this summer, Life is a period piece whose drama is deeply rooted in the intertwining worlds of fame and photography, something the helmer is remarkably familiar with. As scripted by Luke Davies, its action centers on the relationship between James Dean and Life Magazine‘s Dennis Stock, the latter of whom had been tasked with capturing the up-and-coming actor less than a year before his rise to stardom and tragic death.

We’ve now got news from Screen Daily on who will take the parts, as Robert Pattinson has signed on for Stock and Dane DeHaan will step into the iconic shoes of Dean. Production is already set for this February in Canada, where we will follow the duo on a road trip. This is another addition to Pattinson’s promising slate of upcoming films, with David Michôd’s The Rover and David Cronenberg‘s Maps to the Stars, while DeHaan will be seen in Kill Your Darlings and Metallica Through the Never this fall, ahead of his major turn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
