Cosmopolis made the cut on Canada's Top 10 list of 2012 films! The Playlist provided a list of the country's best films, decided by "a panel of industry types all cast their votes for Canada's Top Ten", listed alphabetically:
Cosmopolis, David Cronenberg (Entertainment One Films)The film has gotten noticed in other industry circles, such as Cahiers Du Cinema and Sight & Sound. The recognition is pretty awesome for Rob since he IS Cosmopolis, through and through. TIFF_Net announced the titles on twitter and also featured a great write-up about the film HERE. With the DVD/Blu-ray out in several countries and its release in the US on Jan. 1st, there have been a few reviews popping up. Men continue to recognize Rob's magnetic turn and marvel over his terrific performance. Makes you want to pull the "proud mama Steph" face.

I remember a time a few weeks ago in class I was talking about how there have been actors in big hollywood franchises that r so well known for the characters they play and yet want to move on in order to avoid being typecasted. I mentioned rob of course on how brilliant of an actor he is and how hard he has worked to move on to better things as an actor and grow. I mentioned cosmopolis of course and how fantastic he was in it and I might have recoomended my peers to hopefully watch it one day if not then my teacher to see what I'm talking about. I felt very proud of myself for spreading the word about rob and cosmopolis since not too many people outside of the rob community know its existence but I think I'm sort of helping it. And I'm prob the only one in my class aware of this world in the world of robsessed

Well i saw cosmopolis, unlike D2 which i'm yet to see,all because, of so much different things now anyway rob and his movie, i saw it three times,but roger ebert did not like it, and i as a verity critic who i always ask his opinion and he said rob was ok, just okay but he hated the movie,and my heart sunk, because he think rob is a great future actor, so you see we all have different opinions,i was really hoping for rob getting a nod for the awards, i still find OTR is a runchy movie, sorry ladies but i do like some of the hopefuls, next comments i say which ones!
Morning ladies! I'm loving all the kudos Cosmopolis is getting! The amount of admiration from men for this film on Twitter too is very encouraging as Rob slowly fills up his male fanbase. For a small indie film it is getting the applause it deserves and when you think the whole film is carried by Rob it brings a huge grin to my face! He IS Eric Packer and the transformation from his usual charming, affable self to an arrogant, self-confidant billionaire is astounding. Even the timbre of his voice changes. The mark of a true natural in front of the camera and predicts a huge future for Rob.
I can only wait in shivery anticipation for the release of The Rover as he blows us and everyone else away.

I think Rob would be greatly embarrassed at a campaign for him to be nominated for a GG or an Oscar. He has said himself that he is only at the very start of his career and has yet to really prove himself.
Give him time.....he will get one soon enough.
i can totally understand you and i like how supportive of Rob you are) but i agree with Kazrob...it`s just the beginning and he`s got lots of great roles that will help him to become even more skillful and experienced, that will help him to show once again how talented he is and how different he can be and that will help him to work with some really great, creative and also talented people....and then....one day....all the greatest things will happen ....sigh
i`m really really happy. Rob`s performance in Cosmopolis was truly brilliant and mind-blowing. and i know that with every movie he will only get better and better)

Rob is just excellent in Cosmopolis. I enjoy his every move, look, his interesting face... He really is Eric with his arrogance, genius, lust, greed and his vulnerability. I'm so proud of Rob. I can't wait for his next movies.

Nice that Rob got a supportive fan like you..In my opinion at this point of his career,Oscar is too soon and with the way the more mainstream awards are being conducted that will make Rob uncomfortable.The nominees are basically selling themselves(in a very innocent way)which should not be the case.Their performance should be the basis if they win not on how personable the winner is or how powerful/rich the people behind them.For me if Rob wins now in small award giving bodies like Sundance,Genie or other indie related,it will mean more to Rob.There at least he knows winner doesn't have to kiss someone else's arse but deserves it cause it solely base/judge by excellent acting.I got the feeling Rob is a Cannes film guy.Though I think Rob wouldn't say no to Oscar in future.Sorry but that's just what I think and could be totally wrong :)

Yes, men can be rather slow to catch on but at least when they do catch up they state their case honestly...and they seem to all be loving Rob in Cosmopolis! It always makes me smile that they all sound so surprised. Little do they realise that there lies a true actor underneath his pretty face..lol

Oh, I´m happy for you, don´t feel guilty though - it doesn´t help anyone :) It really makes a difference to see it on the big screen as it is the case with many movies. But I think with Cosmopolis it is even more special because the space of the limo and the muffled sound of the traffic around lets it appear so extramundane (sp?) and even more so with the surrounding sound system in the cinema. Can you see where I am coming from?

Sorry, I just love to cite the dialogues of Cosmopolis and catch myself reacting spontaneously. It really is like a kind of poetry.
It's too soon, they don't give him enough credit yet. But I like the idea that, from all the young stars who were at Cannes, he was the only one who carried the whole movie on his shoulders and his movie got the highest rating from the Cannes' critics.

I'm not a twiiterer (or how is it called?) but I follow a tweet thread and it's always so amusing to read tweets where the men are praising his acting in Cosmo, often talking in group about him without any irony, but with a lot of surprise. Oh yes, sirs, we know this!! :)

Well, many are really surprised, they react in the way like: "He really can act" or " I would never've thought that I should say this but RPattz is very very good in Cosmopolis" or "You're not gonna believe it but Pattinson is phenomenal in this movie". A lot are like that.
Then you have this kind: "I thought he wasn't bad in RM and WFE, but he is brilliant in Cosmopolis" or " Pattinson isn't a bad actor. I don't like Twilight but he surprised me in WFE and RM".
Then there are those about his future like: "From all the cast of Twilight he's for me the only one to have a career" or "He's chosing very smartly, he's gonna work with Herzog, Michôd" or "He's gonna be interesting to follow in his career, he's a fine actor" or "I wouldn't say no too when I got the chance to play in a franchise and get me a big paycheck. Now he can do what he wants". And so on.
Many express their opinion about the movie and add that Rob was "good", "excellent", "brilliant", "superb", "surprisingly good" in it.
There are also many tweets about people who have watched Remember me and Water for Elephants on DVD or television and this tweets are all very positive in the sense that the tweeters "didn't know that the movie was so good and that Pattinson was really good".
Rob has also won over new fans who admitted that they didn't get his appeal until they saw Water for Elephants and "got" it totally.
Be aware that mostly positive tweets are mentioned, there will be negative ones too (esp. Cosmo) but apparently many positive concerning RM and WFE. Their word of mouth is really good.

Oh, I love this. You know, on Rob's Imdb board they always had and still have to deal with potstirrers and nasty posters. One time, a few months back, someone had started a topic, full of hate towards Rob and the regulars started to answer with quotes of Cosmopolis, just like what we did now. It became so funny but they had to stop because every comment brought the topic on top of his message board and that wasn't the goal. Normally they don't reply, they ignore, so after a while the topic goes down and down 'til nowbody reads it anymore.
Can you imagine that more and more men are coming here, not just David (long time no see) and Sean? That would give a whole new dimension LOL

The regulars there are some tough ladies, in a way I have respect for them. You know some die hard Kristen fanboys had found a way to delete topics with comments and all. Can you imagine? Our threads here gone forever? So what did the ladies there? Each time they saved the topic, when it was gone, they restarted it, time and again. Plus: they didn't say anything (most of time not), they just restarted the topic until it got deleted again. Restart, deleted, restart, deleted. If I wanted to read the tweet thread, I had to hurry 'cause it would be deleted before I had time to read. it happened with like 70% of the topic's for, I think, at least 8 months, still happens now but not often anymore. They didn't give on. It happened also on Rob's movie boards, like Cosmopolis, I think Bel ami too: review topics were deleted and restarted.
Now, you don't want to know how the ladies reacted this summer after 'it' had happened. No question of respect Rob's choices, no way. I prefered the more respectful attempt of Robsessed, but in a way I could understand their frustration. When I here posters here at times speaking of trolls I smile, wondering how they would react if they had to read what was published their with all the Twilight haters.

It wasn't nosy for you to get into a conversation; it's a blog. And I am not here much; I check the dashboard and sometimes will look at a thread for context of a comment, and that's when I sometimes see something or someone new. I don't wish to comment with the present disqus set-up as well as various arguments, insults, and hurt feelings. If Rob reads the blog he knows I wish him the best; if he doesn't, I still wish him the best, and either way I don't think it will have any effect on his life. He knows he has fans. Eventually he might understand the various reasons and styles of being a fan; if not, he will survive anyway and we will survive anyway.

Mmm, I wouldn't say we could learn from them. They (the regulars) are very pro Rob and will reject everything or everybody that makes him unhappy if you know what I mean. I prefer the respectful approach of Robsessed, but don't condamn theirs' 'cause I know the lunatic posters they had to deal with.

Hi Whence, we are totally getting it today.
Heavy snowing almost all of the day. My hubby gave up today after three times shipping the snow. And we went to our Weihnachtsmarkt again and it was a Winter wonderland! Totally beautiful. I really hope Lotterie had a save journey though I think Theresia was Not so Heavy snow in the Köln-Bonn area.
Hallo ladies, I am on the ground in Bonn ! Massive delays in Berlin and Copenhagen...ended up at hotel 1.30 am without my suitcase LOL So now I nee to go shopping for toothbrush before doctors appointment !

Just read Lottes comment and I´m glad she landed savely, without toothbrush though ;) Time is running so fast now, I can´t believe that it is only 2 weeks untile Christmas... We've had a bit of snow in the north of the country, more in the south before the weekend, then the temperature got a bit higher but for the next days it will be freezing again, without snow this time. We were supposed to have a snowstorm last Friday but it didn't turn out the way they had predicted, we were lucky this time. So many people had stayed at home that it was probably the most quiet trafic Friday of the year :))
Good advice bb :) Same here with the weather but it is supposed to get warm for the weekend. I am going to bed with ginger tea (not skinny dipping ;) and a hot water bottle.... ( at least SOMETHING is hot...)
Do you still use hot water bottles? We use cherry pit pillows :))
I have both but the water bottle is quicker....
The water bottle brings back memories of childhood: freezing nights, a water bottle at your feet and hoping it wouldn't wet the sheets which happened more than once LOL
Hi Whence, I hope you'll get this comment. I've real problems with disqus the last 24 hours. Most of the time I tried it didn't even open up, now I've managed on the dashboard at least. We're having a lot of snow here. It didn't stop snowing the whole day. But it's only a little freezing so it's melting and more comes from above. We are shoveling snow the whole day long. But the kids love it. Oh, yes, I love baking cookies. But I don't always manage to bake some because we are so busy in december, a lot of christmas party, so... It's the same every year. Hope you are well and hope disqus will stop acting up so I can read comments again... :-)

So it seems, you get "drowned2 in snow ;) It was snowing here all day too but not very heavy and the temperature was +2, so the streets stayed wet. The week end is supposed to be even warmer. I´m sure it is fun for the children where you live :) Did they build a snowman? Your busy decamber sounds exhausting - hope you can relax afterwards? I´m on my limit here too at the moment, so many decisions, and much to do...I´m VERY much looking forward to the hollidays :))) with some Rob movies and cookies :) I have not made them yet, hopefully next week.....
