Happy Thanksgiving! Robert Pattinson wants you to let your thanks express itself

Happy Thanksgiving! Robert Pattinson wants you to let your thanks express itself

If you're stateside, you might be elbow deep in prepping some good home-cookin' right now. It's a holiday of thanks for the US but it's a time we can share thanks all around the world. I've been having a Cosmopolis love fest since the film was recognized yesterday on a top 10 list and I'm continuing my appreciation for Rob's work in that film.

I'm thankful for this review from HeyUGuys for the Cosmopolis UK Blu-ray. I adore and appreciate Rob's portrayal of Edward but it's time for his talent to flex. I feel like Cosmopolis was the turning point for great things to come for him professionally. Here's an excerpt from the review but read the whole thing if you truly enjoyed Cosmopolis:
Say what you will about the Twilight series but you can’t lay the blame at the feet of Robert Pattinson who is just playing an iconic character written to appeal to young teenage girls. Common opinion seems to be that once the series is over, Pattinson is pretty much done. His work in Cosmopolis proves that he is actually the real deal, Pattinson is in every scene and carries the film with ease having to cope with heavy dialogue in scenes that seem to favour a really long take. His portrayal of the character is flawless, a world of pain in his eyes always simmering below the surface of his controlled and manicured exterior. ...Cosmopolis is perhaps the most un-commercial film released this year but somehow starring everyone’s favourite pin-up. It’s also one of the most rewarding experiences this year if you have the ear and patience for it and a timely film about the fragility of our world and the people who control it.
I'm thankful for some more UK outlets with awesome things to say:
Blogomatic: Pattinson is in some ways a revelation in this, or some would say he’s reminding us that he’s not just Twilight. As Eric Packer Robert Pattinson starts off arrogant, you could cynically say the almost robotic way he plays him is like his role in Twilight, which is played much like a plank of wood. This is unfair though because as the film progresses and chaos begins to reign Pattinson changes the character and lets emotion take over, show the weakness of the character as the universe is not doing what is expected, how people don’t do as he says....The fact is though, I’d argue this is David Cronenberg at the top of his game and Robert Pattinson showing just how good an actor he can actually be. I’ve seen some say this is a contender for the film of the year and I’d have to agree in some ways. A truly excellent movie, but one that is not what you expect it to be.
FilmJuice: Pattinson is stunning as Packer...Pattinson may lose a lot of fans due to his cold and unloving take on Packer but he wont be disheartened by that. In fact his talents may just have been opened to a whole new crowd.
TotalFilm: Imperious but impetuous, chilly even when he’s chillin’, Pattinson ably holds his own in a film that’s essentially a relay race of cameos from great actors who are as visibly stoked as he is to work with Cronenberg.
MovieMuser: Even those who struggle through the early stages will probably perk up at the end, which turns into an excellent two-hander between Pattinson and Paul Giamatti, who plays a downtrodden would-be assassin.
I'm thankful fans are lucky in the UK that get to enjoy Cosmopolis on DVD/Blu-ray now even though I have several more weeks to go. *tight smile* ;)
Be sure to pic up the DVD/Blu-ray if it's available in your country or on your player!

I'm thankful for RPAustralia & Roberta for the amazing screen caps from the Blu-ray BTS extras. It's awesome to see Rob go in and out of character just in images.

I never ask for much. Just some peace of mind.

Gozde said...

you are right. that's what matters in the end

Gozde said...

Me, too...my grandson helps me. If you have to do it yourself just calmly follow instructions. If you buy HDMi cord it's real easy. You'll see...you'll love it! And if you have flat screen HD tv Rob is even more beautiful if you can believe that!

Gozde said...

Thanks Sonja, I sure hope so. :)

Gozde said...

Nope. I still have an old 25 inch Sony montrosity that's hangin on. That's why I never bothered getting a Bluray player in the first place.

Gozde said...

Welcome Jenn. Nobody could ever tell me nothin' ...so I learn everything the hard way. Best thing is that she's mama's girl and if you can keep it that way you win and so will she cause only good things will come for her as a result of that.

Gozde said...

I got pregnant right out of high school ... some lessons in life just have to be learned the hard way. That's one thing I can definitely wait on from her...no rush for grandchildren right now! ... have three from DH's girls and they are a handful on a good day! :P

Gozde said...

Uh-oh...don't know if Blu-ray will look good without HD tv. Maybe same as your old dvd player. Wow the tv's are on sale, too right now. If you consider a HD tv this is best time for it.

Gozde said...

There's nothin' like watching your baby give birth...it's not good..but once it/\'s here it takes precedence over everyone else, and now you've lost yourself all over again...yea grand kids can wait.

Gozde said...

Not a good money time right now. That damn hurricane kinda wiped out my savings so it will be a while before I can think about indulgences. Hopefully by January I can be on track again. It really sucks.

Gozde said...

Oh you just brought up great memories for me....hide in seek in the dark outside. Such good times with my cousins *sigh* such good times :')

Gozde said...

Tax refund is a good time for large purchase. I need to move so I gotta wait til then. If you get it on blu-ray you can save it til you get a new tv/player to go with it...or will that be unbearable?

Gozde said...

I'll just get the regular DVD until I can upgrade my stuff. I'm used to grinning & bearing it.

Gozde said...

Oh yea and don't forget that older cousin you had a crush on! Wonderful times..

Gozde said...

I will never forget one time in August ... there was 7 of us outside...in the dark, having fun ... it was so blazing hot even at nearly bedtime. And sticky, humid, just terrible hot weather. Of course all we could hear were the katydids and crickets uno ... then out of the blue a bright flash of lightning quickly followed by ear-ringing thunder! you talk about 7 kids screaming their heads off and scrambling over top on each other to get their sweaty asses in the house!! it scared us shitless then ... now, it's really funny :P LOL

Gozde said...

Maybe there's extras on there, too.

Gozde said...

Nah. They never freakin bother on the regular DVD's. I'll just have to play catch-up when the time comes. There is a method to their madness.

Gozde said...

I played in the rain when I was a kid. I love rain and storms ..so long as it don't get TOO bad...I would set in the car when it rained..I love the sound..and we had a tin roof ummm sleep so good with the rain hitting it.

Gozde said...

we have a tin roof now. love it. i wish i could still take the heat like i could when i was a kid, but i've been spoiled to A/C. I can usually last til the end of June before I close the windows and turn it on. Once it's on, you can't hear ... outside.

Gozde said...

Yea they want you to buy both! Sorry zola but ask the store person ..I think blu-ray player might work ok with your television..it just won't be HD..but that's ok. Then you could go ahead and get the blu-ray version.

Gozde said...

Oh, happy tears for all the praise he received. And thank you for those screencaps. Happy thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate. And I want to say my thanks, too. Thank you Robert Pattinson for making life more interesting. And thank you for RobsessedBlog for being a wonderful site, for your dedication and devotion to Rob :)

Gozde said...

I can't take the heat at all! Over 72 degrees and I can't even breathe! And I used to go barefoot ALL the time. Now I have to wear house shoes..can't even go barefoot in the house! Am I even the same person..NO!Some old lady has taken over my body!..lol

Gozde said...

Yeah. The Geeks at Best Buy are used to me coming in & asking a thousand questions!!!I They actually know me by name now. I 'm such a stupid asshole sometimes it's embarrassing!!!!

Gozde said...

lol...I still go barefoot all the time (right now):P. It has to be nearly 90 before I give in. The shade trees around the house help out too. Now if only my knee wouldn't pop like it's protesting! lol

Gozde said...

Ooohh you're still a young chick! Take as good care of yourself as you possibly can and when you're my age you'll be glad you did. I didn;t and I pay the price..thought I'd be young forever.

Gozde said...

I hope all the US fans here had a wonderful T-day. And thanks to Robdicted for her serious, heartfelt comment. Tear in my eye, makes me proud to be part of this crazy Robsessed community. Not naming you, you know who your are, but suffice to say you're simply the Best!

Gozde said...

That's what THEY say when they see me coming in the door!!!! They actually knock each other over trying to get away from me. No......actually, they love it when I come in because then they can kill an hour just bullshitting & laughing at me!

Gozde said...

I love to aggravate those guys..teehee

Gozde said...

I get it. I look back on the 30's now and wish I could do a few things different. For starters, I would wear freakin' sunblock! "a little tan looks good" is BS when you're 43 and starting to notice little lines on your forehead! :( I'm gonna turn in sonja. gonna get up in the morning and go buy myself an iPhone...can't believe I'm gonna do that ... but, I'm ready. . . I think. :P lol

Gozde said...

Good for you and may the IPhone force be with you..lol
Sleep good..You deserve it after all that cooking.
and IKR about tanning ..I used to fry myself and have skin damage to prove it. oIf only we knew then what we know now we'd wore a hat!...Nite.

I'm thankful for Rob - this gorgeous sweet funny man that occupies some of my spare time with joy and hot sexiness.
April 2009 changed my life cause that's when I saw him walk through the cafeteria door and I've been checking Robsessed ever since. Thankful for Kate, Tink, Kat and Gozde for keeping this site going so well - and our guy checks out the site as well.........how awesome is that?

Gozde said...

Whaaaat? I like your comments! It's few and far between when I do not agree with them but those few times I do I appreciate your input and the way you can give such perspective... so basically I end up liking them anyway!:) BTW, if you don't mind my asking... how's the recovery going on the east coast? I haven't heard too much about it.:/

Gozde said...

Tell them you got a cute daughter you might wanna fix them up with..those geeks will be fallin' all over themselves to help you..lol I take my pretty grand-daughter in with me and yea..they wanna help.

Gozde said...

I don't get what is going on. Solas' post is from hours ago and there it is and says minutes ago????

Gozde said...

Happy Thanksgivins to all Robsessed ladies. I am greatfull for all these wonderfull ladis who adore Rob as much as I do and share their love from time to time. :)

Gozde said...

What was it last night - Maria needs sleep, let's all gang up??
Well. thank you all :-)

Did you notice anything new in the 3rd viewing? I'm off to work now...........

Gozde said...

Yes you are correct I think it originally stems from what we celebrate as Harvest Festival at the end of September. At church and schools food is donated and blessed and distributed to the elderly or the needy :) but it is not a national holiday !! I agree with you last comment though with all that has happened and is still going on around the world !

Gozde said...

Hey you tell her that will be enough of that to old indeed. I went to a concert just this past summer...and it was heavy metal and I was not the only "older" person there!

Gozde said...

That's just Disqus it does it all the time on Gossip Cop!

Gozde said...

Those of us who live in USA and UK sometimes forget how good we got it compared to troubled areas and we take a lot for granted. That's why this country needs a reminder to take time to give thanks. Really we should do it every day.

Gozde said...

So beatiful ! Thank you so much for share whith us the deep ,bright and loving meaning of this day ...and you are so loved in this place!

Gozde said...

Christine I don't understand. Will you explain please?

Gozde said...

Yep and you deserved it.
And yes I did notice something new in the battle scene which I had noticed before but dismissed because it happend so quickly.

Gozde said...

there is nothing to explain. I don't live in the US so we don't celebrate thanksgiving. And "we don't give thanks" was a joke. apparently a poor one :)

Gozde said...

Sorry..my bad.

Gozde said...

Thank you so much! And I don't mind your asking about the recovery: in some ways, it is coming along: subways are running although not all at full function; I think everyone who has a house or apartment now has gotten power; I believe the tunnels are open now although not all at full function. The more difficult recovery is for those whose homes were ruined or compromosed; many people were and still are displaced, some living with relatives and friends, but many without resources to rent until their homes can be fixed (there is a lot of structural damage, mold, etc.) or until they can find a new home. SO many have had all belongings destroyed, photos and other mementos gone. The terrain itself has been compromised in some places, with less chance to rebuild if one would want, because less actual land and certainly not secure. The most difficult recovery of course is for those who have lost loved ones; people did die, tight-knit neighbourhoods were destroyed. This was a very big trauma for many, and many are suffering from post-traumatic stress.
I think many are thankful to be alive; those with homes are thankful to have them; those who were without electricity are, for now, thankful and more appreciative of electricity; quite a few people are contemplating different ways to store photos and mementos as they realize how easily they can be lost; many are for now realizing that people are more important than things and those who lost a lot of things are thinking of accumulating less.

It does seem that religion has always been a fuss. Unfortunately, there is a difference between religion and spirituality, and religion itself, especially established religion, lends itself too much to control of others, especially if a religion says there is only way to G-d, or only one way that G-d likes. It gives those in charge the power to control others using the fear of rejection or condemnation of G-d by using and enforcing their view of G-d as the only one. It seems ironic that the pilgrims came to worship as they wish but then rejected those who did not worship as they did. It is a difficult challenge to have strong faith yet to accept that not everyone believes that strongly, or in that faith, and to accept them, build communities with them, befriend them. It is the old human story of dealing with the other-- do we ally ourselves, get to kn ow and love their differences, or do we see them as a danger to be conquered, subjugated, or, worse, eliminated.
To me, it is certainly something worth fighting for, and struggling and working to keep. Ireland and the USA were the only western countries that did not openly and officially discriminate against (or outright expel my people at one time or another, although there was certainly discrimination by individuals and groups even in these 2 countries. I work to keep up the freedom to worship (or not) not just for myself, but for others as well, but I will tell you that it is sometimes difficult. It is worthwhile, but it is a challenge. Often that which is worthwhile is achieved and maintained with struggle.

Gozde said...

Oh so it was a planned attack???
Thank you 'friends' :-)

Gozde said...

Wow! I still can't even imagine! I went to London this past summer and relied on the underground a lot. Had that system been down that would have been horrible. That must be a headache for those that use the subways! I'm glad that power has been restored. My co-worker told me that her daughter had to travel at least an hour to get her computer and phone charged at one point during the storm. I am glad you are okay!:) It seems like the only safe way they could store photos would be electronically (cloud, chrome)... not even memory cards seem to be safe from damage. My prayers continue to go out for you and your family, the recovery over there and for comfort for all those that have lost loved ones and are traumatized!

Gozde said...

Thanks. And I agree about using Cloud, although I have decided to make for myself a 'go' bag and will try to get my photos and writing and songs, etc., as well as copies of important documents if I cannot take them along, on little flash drives that I can keep in the 'go' bag with a few other important things.

Gozde said...

I have noticed that, too. Especially when I take too long to form my replies (multi-tasking), I get a notification saying that there is a "new comment" but I have already seen it! it's been sitting there for hours! it's kind of annoying! I don't understand it either!

Gozde said...

That is a really good idea! I live on the west coast and they are always saying everyone should make an emergency kit... I guess I should get on that. A "go" bag sounds like it might be a little easier to start with.:)

Gozde said...

Thanks for your post ,Solas on this subject so very close to your heart, and in fact the very essence of your life. As a Christian (non-denominational) I very much love and cherish your people as a whole. I've read most of the old testament and the history is astounding. There has been much blessing as well as hardship for the Jews from the beginning until now....but even to this day it's easy to see the Hand of G-d Himself has been on your people. Even in this country where there has been much wealth and success, the Jewish people stand out as the most successful, attributed all the way back to the promises made to Abraham and my favorite Blessing,''May G-d Bless you and keep you...may He make His Face to shine upon you and give you peace.''

And b/c of the teaching of the Bible we believe that as long as we stand by Israel our country will be blessed as well...''I will bless those who bless you'' and so it has been. And even now it will greatly behoove our president to make no wrong move where Israel is concerned.(I vote according to who is the stronger supporter of Israel)...This is what I believe..I came to understand and believe this way as an adult through my own exploration of the Christian faith...I'm no saint, I don't profess to be, but that doesn't change Who

G-d is to me (I'm writing G-d this way out of respect for you) and Who the Bible says He is. I believe in the spiritual realm and it's affect on this world and in the here-after. I believe in the whole Bible and in the Holy Trinity..So I recognize the differences in our faith and even the way we live our lives. But I also know the similarities in that we worship the same G-d, Jehovah, but with me there's Jesus and all that He is and has been and will be. Now I hope this thread is dead b/c I feel very exposed right now and this post is not for scoffers or nay-sayers or even those who would judge me for the way I carry on over Rob..but let me tell you a little secret... I love that he believes in G-d..I know he 's no saint... who is?... certainly not me nor is it for me to judge or overstep my bounds or try to tell anyone anything unless they ask me (lesson learned the hard way),,but I started this conversation and owe it to you to be straight with you that I'm not ashamed of the Gospel...and that I recognize your people as the Chosen Ones b/c I have read the Words and understand them for myself and in the spiritual sense. Love you, Solas.

Gozde said...

Thank you for sharing this part of yourself with me. I appreciate your sentiments.
I do want to take up one point though-- I do not think of Jews being the most successful, at least financially.

Gozde said...

Well I've noticed even in the entertainment world the names give them away...and they are some of the most successful...The Cohen Bros...Creator and producer/writer of Big Bang & 2 1/2 Men just to name a few... Aren't they behind nearly every successful business, along with Christians? Maybe that's just what I notice more....the connection to G-d.

Gozde said...

And comments seem to disappear then reappear and jump all over the place...Maybe we're too much for disqus.

Gozde said...

You do not offend. Sunset approaches so I cannot answer fully now, and am not sure with the new format if I want to answer here, so if you email me I might be able to get back to you Saturday night. If not, I will try to answer you here but not as fully. I will say that my experience is not financially wealthy, myself and most Jews I know are struggling. I think that the more observant, with all of the Torah fences against tremendous wealth or limitations due to needs of others, the less likely one would be excessively wealthy. But there are other measures of success, thank G-d. Bye for now.

Gozde said...

Later,Solas. Peace.

Gozde said...

Erm.......excuse me you two!!!!
LMAO I feel like a naughty child ;p

Gozde said...

Aren't they awful!!!! They do have a point though lol I only had 6 hours sleep over two nights.
bwen refused to reply to me anymore - she is right though, I do have to reply to every comment and can't leave them. Not sure it's quite in the OCD range !!! They probably won't have to worry about me tonight - I have a glass of Bailey's - do you know Bailey's? I don't drink and it sends me to sleep. I wonder which will win???? alcohol or ROBsessed?? LOL

Gozde said...

6 hours in two days! I think I´m gonna side with the ladies to save you from yourself! It´s probably not OCD but maybe scrupulous performance of duties, as the good mom soldieres we are trained respectively trained ourselves LOL
I do know Bailey´s. In fact you gave me some idea..... ;)

Gozde said...

You are right and so are they....I DO need saving from myself ;-)
You go get your Bailey's and we'll sit and drink together ~ you may have to nudge me awake now and then once I've drunk it ;p
CHEERS!!!

Gozde said...

CHEERS Maria!!!! And to make it easier for you, I´m going zzzzzzzzz so that you are not tempted to reply ;) See you tomorrow!

Hmmmm. was I lucid? LMAO!

lol I think so! Disqus needs to get their stuff together!

Thanks for the rec, Leah.

Gozde said...

Absolutely ...and why because I don't give a flying f ___ anymore!
I've had a bad day....

Gozde said...

Awww, poor baby, here's what I do sometimes when I need to cheer up. I go onto YouTube and look at videos of people falling down. There are thousands of them. They even have categories - fat people falling down, people falling off ski lifts, you name it. Makes me pee my pants sometimes. Try it!

Gozde said...

I'll give it a try...thanks.
And its nice to see you back on the blog!

Gozde said...

Thanks, trying to have some fun tonight, but the new Disqus is making it hard (and not in the good way!).

Gozde said...

You're welcome, chica.

Gozde said...

Surely you the techno wizard aren't going to let a little program like Disqus beat you?

Gozde said...

I think that might be why it bothers me more than others? Because I'm in the field and I would never put a piece of crap like this out. It literally infuriates me when it doesn't work.

Gozde said...

OR I'm better than you LMAO

Gozde said...

Obviously you don't work for Microsoft then. lol
I never buy one of their new operating systems until its been on the market at least 6 months... preferably a year.
My oldest son the techno geek and he just rolls hi eyes when I complain about Disqus and swear to god he puts in ear plugs. His theory is as long as we are willing to use it they don't give a damn.

Gozde said...

HAHAHA you probably are! Maybe I need to get myself one of those German keyboards like you've got!

Gozde said...

ITA with your strategy. Never buy the initial release of anything, be it appliance or computer software. OMG, look at those people who ran out to buy the new iPhone, they're kicking themselves now!

Gozde said...

It's my brain you should be jealous of...not important that i'm German though!

Gozde said...

Number one son would hamstring me is I ever did that..
As it is he would love to put a computer closet in our house.
He currently maintains the wireless network for 3 PC's, 5 laptops, 8 game systems, and digital streaming devices for 6 TV's.

Gozde said...

You're probably right, but jealousy is such a waste of time, I'd rather spend that time watching porn.

Gozde said...

you do that anyway. :-9

Gozde said...

Wow, I kinda feel sorry for your poor little wireless network! It's great to have someone knowledgeable like your son around, isn't it? I don't know how some do it, with no training and nobody around to help them figure out computer stuff. It's amazing how well most do on their own.

Gozde said...

Oh he went to school for it and got his graduated...just as the tech jobs tanked up here. lol
So now he works in retail.

Gozde said...

Yes, I assumed he was a professional based on what you told me about your setup. You're lucky to have him. I feel sorry for those who've got to figure this stuff out on their own.

Gozde said...

That's true. I've got a real thirst for knowledge.

Gozde said...

Oh bwen... don't say that. :-( I enjoy you giving a flying f----....

Gozde said...

What can I say? It´s in my nature... naturally ;)

Gozde said...

I'm not 'hyper' ;p

Gozde said...

Maybe just a little? Or how about energetic?

Gozde said...

Seeing as it is a Saturday afternoon, I have no work and I am just sitting here reading a book with a cup of coffee I don't think 'energetic' fits either do you? Lazy maybe? :-)

Gozde said...

You do this while reading? O yea..avid multi-tasker..lol
Did you sleep last night?

Gozde said...

;-) I wasn't doing 'this' at all lol My phone bleeps to tell me I have an email - which was a blog notification - and the laptop is next to me (just on standby) so opened up and there you are :D
I slept very well thank you. :-) You?

Gozde said...

More than 2 hrs I hope. What are you reading? I have adult ADD...I think. Reading has become difficult for me. I stare at the page and my mind wanders. I find myself reading the same sentence multiple times. It would help if I got new glasses, too. These have a terrible glare that gives me a headache.

Gozde said...

Loads more than 2....probably about 6 maybe 7 can't remember when I went to sleep lol I never drink and I had a Bailey's and I was out like a light!!
At the moment I am reading something weird and wonderful, alternative universe, time travellers stuff. Not terribly impressed atm but I don't like to give up on a book. I have lots waiting for me to read that I really want to get to. My mind wanders if the book doesn't totally have my attention. You need to find the right thing to read. Try a different light source if your glasses are glaring. What sort of books do you like?

Gozde said...

I used to read tons of historical romance. Same story with different characters and various locations. If they are written according to historical facts they can be very informative while sexy at the same time.

Gozde said...

Used to? What now?

Gozde said...

Thanks Monique...

Gozde said...

Nothing really since the Twilight books..but I can read them over and over and have but not lately..I'm always spending too much time on here.

Gozde said...

I think we all do ;-) But you can learn a lot on here too!!
I keep recommending this book to everybody but it is a really good read LOL It is written by a historian too so that should appeal to you, Try Discovery of Witches. It sounds odd when I say it's about Vampires, witches and daemons but the fact that they are doesn't impact overmuch on the story. The lead man, Matthew is a vampire - the sort that Rob should play. He is sexy, tough and has lots of personality. If ever Rob wants to have another go at being a vampire THIS IS THE ONE!
I'd lend you mine but you're too far away LOL

Speaking of Rob I bought another Twilight mag last night. It's the US weekly version covering all 5 movies...the pics in it are so beautiful! Have you seen it?

Gozde said...

No, I don't even know if we can buy US Weekly here ;-/ I don't buy magazines - I.... erm.......I have issues LOL

Gozde said...

Issues of magazines?..lol It's us as in us not US as in United States.
I hope you get to see it at least...the pictures are to die for.
I'm watching YT on my TV the tapes from tent city at LA premiere. Have you seen it?

Gozde said...

Maybe she's a little pesky?

Gozde said...

That, too. Hello Bwen.

Gozde said...

LOL told you I don't buy magazines!!! LOL - that IS funny!! No I have issues about magazines lol. There are very few that I can tolerate. I can't stand the ones with 'real life stories' and articles about who did what to who. They are like daytime television shows in paper form - where do they find these people?? Under rocks?? I sometimes flick through them at my mum's or if the girls have them but I don't read the 'stories'.

Gozde said...

Ok I get it no mags...bwen's around ..I gonna go let you read your book ..sleep awhile..gotta lot to do ..cooking thanksgiving dinner for my son tomorrow but I have to start today on deserts plus I don't know why but I need to do some house cleaning also so I'll see ya when it's over and have a good weekend

Gozde said...

Enjoy!!! I love cooking at Christmas so I suppose that would be the same. Have a lovely weekend. Speak soon :-)

Gozde said...

Gozde said...

OMG! Really? O well I'm sure it does that a lot..I mean it is Canada ..lol
Beautiful, huh?

Gozde said...

Whatcha!!!
I read back my comments like this sometimes and think....my god you sound miserable!!! I probably shouldn't say it either because lots of people do like the magazines and the daytime shows LOL

Gozde said...

This is Twilight special, bwen...full of pics from all 5 movies. Not the usual mag.

Gozde said...

Beautiful yes until you have to go out and clean off the car, scrap the windows and shovel the sidewalk. Then dodge the idiots that are still driving like its summer. ;o) lol

Gozde said...

So true...that's the down side. Well, you be careful going out in it.

Gozde said...

I only purchase ones that have had a contracted photo spread with Rob and or Kirsten and still I generally take the interviews with a huge grain of salt.
But the rags that are just full of speculation and crap I wouldn't even consider buying them!

Gozde said...

I saw it but I bought "The Twilight Saga The Complete Film Archive" instead from Amazon its hard cover and comes from the Twilight creative team plus it has a ton of extras and its on sale from Amazon right now.

Gozde said...

I can't remember the last time I bought a magazine other than cooking or gardening ones and that's been aaaages! I may buy Christmas magazines :-) I have never bought a magazine with them in it lol
I must stop talking.....now I sound like a bore!!!!

Gozde said...

This time of year I grow eyes in the back of my head! LOL

Gozde said...

You have never been a bore Maria!

Gozde said...

Thank you but my last two comments tend to prove otherwise!!!
Gag going spare anyone????

Gozde said...

Gozde said...

Gozde said...

:-) that's neat. Actually, after cooling, I put a glaze of apple juice and confectioners sugar on my pie and then put it in the fridge, so we eat my pie cold, not hot. :-)

Gozde said...

I did not notice anything from you in my email, so I will answer you here, but will not write much as I no longer trust posting due to the new format. Although I do not think you have this sentiment at all, I will tell you that for the past 2 millenia, especially the past few hundred years, stereotyping Jews as financially successful, as being behind financial success, as having a 'money' gene, etc all come from a place of hatred of distrust, and end up very negative for Jews, usually as antisemitism, as excuse for discriminating against and G-d forbid eliminating us. Blood libels, phrases of 'shylock' and 'pound of flesh', all contribute to trouble for us, and all come from the outside, not within: in Judaism, money is not an ends or a value, but a means for providing and for doing good in the world. The success we value is success in being a light to others, a good example; doing kindness, seeking and providing justice; curing, making life better for others. I read once an examination of bankers of the world and wealthy people of the world; my people were not represented out of proportion to our numbers. Yet, due to the stereotype, people point out this Jew or that Jew or Jews in general as controlling wealth, as controlling the media, etc. One area of success in which we are represented way beyond our numbers is in Nobel awards, but then those that hate us say we fixed it, or that we control that. Another area of success in which we are represented way out of proportion to our numbers is education, a big value in our traditions, both religious education and secular education. Yet, we have a teaching: It isn't the learning that is the main thing; it is the deed, the doing. Sitting in an ivory tower or a simple yeshiva isn't the goal, it is the deed, doing good in the world. The fact is, cures, devices to make lives better, to help poor and ill, are invented and created by most people/peoples but Jews are represented way beyond proportion in this area, as well. WHen you look at the passages of Avraham and G-d saying those that bless you I will bless...you will see that the reasons G-d chose Avraham, chose to bring him into 'debate' about the destruction of Sdom and AMora, to tell the story of Avraham's arguing for justice in the world, not just for his own kind but for all, was because G-d saw that Avraham would teach his descendants justice, righteousness, kindness. Those are the areas we are blessed with success. So, to me, and to those of us who still keep the traditions and observe the ways of our people, financial success, fame and fortune, are not the success in which we are blessed nor what we seek. They are OK if they will be used for good in the world, and they are certainly helpful in providing for and supporting our families, but they should not be a goal, nor something to be admired, and certainly not something to be ascribed to being Jewish or being blessed in the blessing for Avraham. For us, the connection to G-d is doing good, doing it well, and not being successful in business.

I understand Solas and thanks for taking the time to explain all of this to me. I see that I was wrong to put it the way I did...I would never offend you in any way intentionally, but ignorantly may have done so. I'm very sorry, please forgive me. It is very delicate subject and I should not have approached it carelessly. What I meant to say is from the Bible I see that your people are blessed of G-d in all manner of things.. And in ways that are obvious to the world and cannot be denied..(consider the tiny nation of Israel) and yet as you say hatred and jealousy towards your people is unprecedented...but I hope you know that Christians that I am associated with admire, respect, and love your people as a whole and recognize them as the Chosen People of G-d ...Blessed and highly favored of the Lord...thus my reference to financial success..(I think of Abraham and King David) and I believe G-d's blessings can be in the physical as well as the spiritual realm. I meant no insult dear Solas..in fact the opposite. Can I ask you once you've read this can we please delete these posts? They are very personal and not for everyone to see. Sorry but cannot access my email. So I'll check back if you agree I'll see that yours are gone. Thanks again and please accept my apologies. Peace.

Gozde said...

Yes, I am deleting.

Gozde said...

BTW--I want to reiterate that you did not offend me, no need to apologize.

Just came back from seeing Lincoln. It was superb. For me at least a trifecta: DDL, Tony Kushner screenplay, history. I don't know if people who are not interested in history would like it, although for me history isn't enough for it to be likable; this was worthwhile because it presented to us character and behind the scenes, beyond the usual history books and hero worship. DDL brings character to life, brings understanding of character and wears the character so well as to relate to the other characters as if they were all alive together again. Superb.

Gozde said...

Thanks Solas. They've been giving it great reviews and talking about another oscar for DDL. I hope I get to see it soon with my grandson...he loves history. I bought him that book''Killing Lincoln'' by Bill O'riley and he loved it. Your account of the movie just makes me wanna see it that much more.. :)

Gozde said...

Absolutely worth seeing. The cinema was jam-packed--I do not think that there was even one empty seat. Pretty amazing!

Gozde said...

Yes it is amazing. Glad to hear the place was full for a movie such as this. They'll probably be showing it in high schools after it leaves the theater. Which is a good idea and they just might learn something. :)

Gozde said...

I replied to you earlier but it must have disappeared...I was saying that yes, it is amazing such a turnout for that awesome movie. And they'll be showing it in schools once it leaves the theaters in lieu of a history lesson. Which is a good idea anyway. Can't wait to see it!

Gozde said...

I do think this is worthy of students learning, and wish there were more films like this. in the case of DDL and his specific acting, as well as the screenplay and the research, it is as if someone allowed us to go back in time and actually meet with Lincoln for a day, actually see what went on, even behind the scenes of common history books and commonly known history.

Gozde said...

Justin is in 11th grade and his history teacher often uses movies in the class room to enhance their learning experience (Grapes of Wrath, The Patriot, Ben Hur, Apollo 13, Gettysburg) and 'Lincoln' will be perfect for that. And like you said, Solas, the more movies they make like this the better. Justin is very impressed with what he's seen of the movie so far, most of all the voice of the President... so different than other actors' portrayal...knowing DDL is gonna knock it outta the park like he always does. I wonder if 'Last of Mohicans' will still be our favorite of his after we see this.

Gozde said...

Thank you, Solas, and I'm very relieved to hear that. :)

Gozde said...

I LOVE last of the MOhicans, at least his version, even though it was not true to the book (was kind of a mush up of the Leatherstocking Tales, more of Pathfinder, I think). When I taught, I used to use films, especially old films, whenever possible, and if they were not true to history or to a book, we would discuss the difference to facts (as far as we knew and had learned) as well as why a film-maker might choose to change things.
I've done with this films based on Biblical stories as well; we compared the film to the text and discussed why the changes, and what effect the changes might have on an audience.
Please let me know when you've read this so that I can delete it; I've begun commenting too much again and this time it has too much personal info. Thanks.

Gozde said...

Appreciate so much your reply.

Gozde said...

I replied 3 hrs ago but it vanished. Sorry Solas.
Thanks for your replies and I agree..his LoM is the best of all, including the book.
