From The Daily Telegraph
A year after helping Hollywood heart-throb Robert Pattinson reconnect with an Aussie-based school mate, Charlie Bowman, we can now report the Water For Elephants star has finally caught up with his old friend in Sydney - and we take full credit.
"If Charlie is reading this, tell him to call me," Pattinson asked us in an interview last year, referring to Melbourne-based Bowman, with whom he lost contact after shutting down his Facebook page.
"Tell him to call my mum, because he's probably still got that number."
With our help, the pair got in touch again, and on Friday night they dined at Bondi's Icebergs.
"Was that you I spoke to?" Pattinson asked us when we spoke to the British actor on the red carpet on Friday night.
"Thanks for that. I plan to meet up with him later tonight."
Sweet story, right? I have an encounter story with Rob that I never really talked about. I forgot I didn't share it until I talked to Kate about this story earlier today. She had no idea what I was saying and it dawned on me that I made my video private and kept it in the closet. Well...I'll share the story now along with the video that makes me 1st hand embarrassed.
Tink's umpteenth Rob encounter after the cut (don't hate me and tell me I can't have anymore encounters because I'd die)
Settle into this because you know I can write a long story and I'm gonna let this one flow.
The story starts on the WFE blog. A year ago, The Daily Telegraph spoke to Rob while he was promoting Eclipse. We (WFE blog) posted the story because Rob mentioned Water for Elephants during the interview. After posting the story, we noticed someone commented on the post that sounded like they were Charlie. When you post a comment on Wordpress, you have to leave your email address and your IP address is also posted for administrators to see. We confirmed that the person commenting was in fact Rob's friend Charlie. Click HERE to view the post and see the comment from Charlie.
This tickled our fancy. We thought it was too cool that Charlie read the blog and went as far as to comment on the post. Knowing I was attending the Eclipse premiere, JAG (RAoR) told me I should attempt to get the email address to Rob. She knew I was a camper and was trying for the front line of the fan area. I thought the idea was a little impossible and didn't fully commit to it until I ran it by my Tent City roommates. They all thought I should give it a go so I wrote the email address on the back of a WFE business card and kept it handy.
On the day of the premiere when they file the fans through the holding cages (we're animals), I saw that I would not be on the front line. Here's the thing with these premieres: it's front line or bust. If you aren't right up on the barricade, you might as well stay home. It's rough. Pictures with the stars are impossible and all you see are backs of the people in front of you. Well all I see are backs because I'm 5'2". I chopped the opportunity up to a loss and planned to try for an autograph. At the very least, I can push my arm through and try to get Rob to sign an Eclipse postcard that was given out.
While my view was, pardon my french, shit, I'll never forget the lovely ladies in front of me reporting what Rob was wearing when they saw him hit the carpet. "He's in maroon! He's wearing maroon!" I think I gasped, "Maroon?!" I couldn't believe it. He's so bold and I feel like only Rob can pull off a maroon suit. It took ages for him to make his way down. It felt that way because I couldn't see his progression down the carpet like I could during New Moon.
When I sensed he was near, I decided I would let my flip vid get the best view. Take a look at this picture:
Just above Rob's head, there's a white flip vid. That's me. My hand had quite the view. Anyway, back to the story. So Rob is now in front of my section of ladies and at the last minute, I decided Rob should sign my purse. That seems odd, right? Well my purse was a Team Rosie tote. I don't know why I didn't think of it before but I thought the tote would get his attention because of the big elephant on the front. It caught his attention alright. :) He signed "Rob" on the tote and I melted.
Rob asked me how I had WFE paraphernalia already and proceeded down the line. My window was open and now it was closing! I frantically grabbed the business card with Charlie's info on it and start shrieking at Rob. All composure is lost and I'm desperate to give him the card. I didn't think he'd actually hear my cries and come back towards me but he does. Only he thinks I was trying to get him to sign something else. He signs the business card and I remember he had this quiet, floaty look on his face. I imagine this is his zone for premieres.
So I go back to shouting at him, "it's for YOU!"....ugh....so embarrassing. He finally realizes that and takes the card. Check out his expression when he notices Charlie's name:
That was a great moment. It tripped him out. We had a long talk about it over tea. I wish. He still had to make loads of dreams come true and started back down the line. Not before giving me one last look, asking how I got the card and giving it to his bodyguard.
I kept the video private at the time because we didn't want to make it seem like we were pushing the blog or exploiting Rob or Charlie. Since the reunion happened, it's the perfect time to share the fun encounter. I'm making the video public and adding the video of my Rob partner in crime, Cynthia. She was a couple people down from me and she caught the exchange as well.
My video kicks off with Nick in the frame. Of course. You know I love him. Whenever you see Nick and Stephanie, you know Rob isn't far behind. My story starts around 1:54. He smiles at the Team Rosie tote and says, "wow how'd you get that?". It gets intense, shaky, desperate, frantic, and wild so make sure you're sitting down LOL
Cynthia's video
1:25 he sees the Team Rosie tote and starts trying to understand what the crazy girl (me) is shrieking at him
1:43 he signs the business card instead of taking it LOL
1:46 he takes the card. I love this part because you see his face change once he recognizes the name on the card :)
This was a great video for me because I could see his whole reaction to what you hear on my video. Good times *sigh*
