He is breathtaking. This is my favorite look, I think, so far, although I loved the way he looked in Twilight, too. New Moon not so much. Too gray and pasty. The make up was much better in the first movie. This one looks good too though.
First, Durob this morning. Still trying to recover from that and now Robward. Oh, be still my heart! What a chameleon! Georges or Edward, what a dilemna. I agree with the v-neck. OMR!!
Yes I agree, I think this is the best Edward I have seen so far. I love Robward, but everytime I see a still of Robward from Eclipse I get a little sad, because up until now all I'm seeing is this downward spiral in the series/movies, where Robward is being constantly pushed to the level of supporting character.
Now getting off my soap box lol. While I may not be excited for the movie, I always like seeing new Robward pictures, he looks really good here.
I know that alot didn't care for his 'look' in NM as oppose to Twilight and now Eclipse. Well. I think they were going for a very specific look for NM and Rob had a great deal of say about it. The tweed suit that everyone dislikes so much, that some have the 'grandpa' suit? Okay. But remember, he is an old man. A very old man who is only masquarading as a teenager and I think sometimes that gets forgotten. And that suit? That was Rob's choice for the character. And I think that is the key word here...character.
The 'character' of Edward Cullen SUFFERED in NM and it showed. In every aspect of his physical appearance and of course in his emotionality. Let's just say that Edward was not at his best and therefore, it made sense that in terms of how he looked, he wasn't at his best either (although I'd take him blind, bald headed, with a harelip...and running around in a baseball cap made out of dog turds. Well. I would). In NM, I don't think Rob was thinking about playing 'the most beautiful guy in the world' that time up to bat. In Twilight, yes as this was when Bella first saw him (and the way she saw him is how the audience is suppose to him...at least as his character is first introduced to the story). And now apparently in Eclipse, with their seperation behind them and their future ahead of them, we seem to be seeing once again, the Edward in Bella's eyes and so, his 'look' has changed from what it was in NM and is now more reminicent of Twilight.
Did any of that make any sense? I'm still fuzzy here and going on 37 hrs. since I last slept. Yeah? What's your excuse when you sleep till noon?
(everyone...please ignore that 'voice' that keeps popping into my posts to mock me. word has it she's a homicidal maniac from the Shadybrook Mental Institution with a shitload of stolen day passes in her pocket)
@Nik - once again you have me LMAO. I just love reading your posts. Keep the thoughts coming from both of you but do try to get some sleep. I know about the insomnia. She can be a bitch!
I absolutely love your comments like everyone here... what you just said makes a lot of sense and is most likely what they wanted to project to us the fans. i was just wondering about something you said in another post earlier. you want to adapt to the screen your all time favourite book...what would that be????
thanks again for all your comments and please don't stop writing...
I am cougar hear me roar r-r-r-r, he looks fantastic and yes I have to agree with many of you I prefer this look to the NM look whether Robert wanted the suit in NM or not he is smokin in these photos...ok I am done talking I got to get back to roaring...
As my english isn't very good....I do agree with Nik6. Always wanted to say right that about NM Edward, what she said now. And I love every Edward whit his sad and tortoured eyes, and of course I love Robert in his all movies, and wnt to know everything about the real Robert in real life. Now, I'm waited by my RL, so going to work. Have a good day Ladies!
I just hope the movie measures up. My wife and I were both massively pumped for NM. This time around, not so much. It's like they can barely stir themselves to promote it. And the trailers seem to indicate more Jacob, fighting, and triangle; and less Edward and Bella.
We'll still go, but we'll both be going to the theater with drastically lower expectations than we had for New Moon.
Hey Rick, welcome back I really enjoyed reading your post the other day!! @Nik ITA Yes I love his look in Eclipse, I just wish he can have his "Twilight" hairdo back...lol
I liked Edward's look best in the first movie, particularly the scene - If you were smart, you'd stay away from me/what if I'm the bad guy. I liked the hair (which looked wet and spikey) and makeup because they didn't overdo the foundation or lipstick. There was so much beauty in that film and Catherine Hardwicke managed to get some amazing footage of him in the film and in the Extras which are so detailed. The Extras in NM could have made up for the lack of Rob in the film but this was so disappointing - I've only seen the NM DVD Extras once - OK maybe twice, thinking - is that it?! Tons of footage of Rob never came to light and I don't believe CW got Edward the way CH did in terms of sensuality (apart from the reunion kiss). I feel Eclipse could deliver but I hope it brings out the beauty of him and don't overdo the makeup.
((But remember, he is an old man. A very old man who is only masquerading as a teenager and I think sometimes that gets forgotten))
Hey NiK long time no talk, I hope your insomnia isn't giving you too much trouble :)
I just wanted to comment on your observation regarding Edward feeling very old and only pretending to be a teen,
See I would be convinced of that IF in fact he did live to be 109 and experienced being an OLD man and felt what it's like to be old and Grey, the dimmed soul the aching bones the lost hope etc...BUT he was "undead" and frozen at the age of 17, he's only known what it's like to be 17 he's lived as a teen ever since he's been bitten and lived that life over and over again never breaking the cycle, so all he knows is being young,(haven't read the book so I dunno if in the book he actually has lived a mature life!) but if he hasn't then that statement really doesn't stand IMO. And he really can't truly feel what it's like to be "that old" I dunno that's just my take!
Nice to see you back again, I've missed your comments when you were gone for a while a few months ago :)
I Like these pictures a loooot! But, in my personal opinion, The Twilight Edward was the best (just comparing to NM, let's see what happens in Eclipse). And I'm not speaking about the look (which I really liked also in NM, I always like him, always, no discussion on this). Now it's difficult for me to explain, but the first movie was really ... I don't know, that chemistry, that connection, that attraction. (I watched the movie really by chance and it caught me minute after minute... and now I'm Robsessed!) In NM I didn't find myself so involved like for the first one. They seemed to me in a certain way cold, distant, and also the pain ... I don't know ... was well shown on Bella's side ... but I think that something in the second movie went missed. I think that Catherine was more connected with the inner world of the charatcters, in a certain way more direct and genuine, instead Chris was more attentive to an aesthetical way of representing the feelings... I'm not saying that I didin't like NM, Certain scene were very beautiful (for example the scenes in Italy were huge, or the scene with jacob under the rain) and in the end it was really, again, aesthetically perfect, but .... I don't know ... Do you understand me? And I hope to see and feel again that connection throught their eyes in Eclipse.
@nikola6 - You express it so well, I can't add anything. But it's true lots of people didn't like NM Edward, they missed the "Twilight Edward" younger, gorgeous teen-like look. I remember teens saying they were turned off by Edward's physical appearance and dress in NM, he looked too old for them and they preferred Jacob. Eclipse Edward looks really handsome though... how shall I put it? In these new stills he's got that kind of otherworldly beauty back again. Maybe I've just moved on, too, I definitely prefer Rob as Tyler in RM and I can't wait to see him in Bel Ami - actually, I now want to see Bel Ami more than Eclipse... oops, feeling guilty now... I'm sooo sorry, Edward, I'm kind of cheating on you.
As much as I love Edward I can see where you're comming from. Before RM I'd only seen Rob on the big screen in HP. I love Rob's grey/blue eyes and could get lost in them for days. Bel Ami is going to be heart stopping, pantie "poofing" fantastic!
BTW sue me for being so fickle LOL! I love Rob and all the characters he plays.
@WhyistheRum...I agree with you, i soo which Breaking Down be made into one movie, the sooner Rob is done with Twilight films the better. So he can make more movies!
Wow, sexy Rob is back. Be still my heart. I also agree with Kat, Vnecks are Rob's best.
I have noticed the Vampire Diaries vamps, Stephan/Paul has the boufant Rob look and Damon/Ian has the messy Rob look. Maybe that's just me and my Robsession going on here though. I've been expecting Rob's look to appear everywhere.
Just got myself 11 hrs. of sleep and now I've slept too much and everything HURTS. Jaysus!
DeDe... Yes, you're right. He was frozen as a 17 year old boy...back in 1918. And in 1918, 17 year old boys were not, what they are now. Back then at 17, you were already a man. The interesting concept here is the frozen aspect. What exactly does that mean? The body yes, it never changes (although 'conviently' male vampires -well, Edward at least- continue to produce baby making batter, which correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that physiological 'change'?), but what about 'emotionally?' According to Carlise, they don't change much there either; their temperments, their sensibilities, how they perceive. So when I look at Edward Cullen, I NEVER see the 21st century teenager as I believe that is his 'mask.' I see an old 'man' underneath that youthful facade, one who was born in the last year of Queen Victoria's reign. I also see Edward as weary. He's had enough. He doesn't want this endless, empty existence anymore. What is it that ages us? Experience. Living.
Meyer's concept has a few holes in it. They're frozen so they never change, yet they live forever. One long continuous day...forever, with a myraid of experiences and watching the world around them change; the way we dress, the music we listen to, the additudes, EVERYTHING changes, yet they remain the same. Yes, they have to adapt, but inwardly, no change. According to what Meyer wrote.
It's always been a thorn in my paw when modern audiences cannot look at something except through their own modern sensibilities. To not being able to look at something within it's own context. Take Edward's controlling and predatory ways where Bella is concerned. He's been labled a stalker. That one always makes me laugh. He's a vampire for god's sake. What did Edward say? "I'm the world's most dangerous PREDATOR." As for him controlling her. Yeah, he tries, but he fails. But remember, Edward Cullen was 'turned' before women even had the right to vote. He came from a world in which men were in control. It's what he knows.
Anyway...I could go on and on about the many, many different ways in which this character has been misinterpreted by the audience. The audience missed who this character was SO MUCH, that the author has felt compelled to go back and re-write him. And this is why I think so many do not care for Rob's performance as Edward.
They want the Edward that they THINK he was from the books and Rob is playing who the character actually was. The audience wants THAT Edward from the book and Rob isn't giving them that. He's giving them who Edward Cullen really was. So now wonder his performance has been met with criticism. Rob 'got it.' The audience 'missed it.'
If he'd played this the way the audience interpreted it, they'd be dancing in the aisles and Rob -as an actor- would be miserable. If he'd been forced to play it 'for the audience' he might have walked off the picture. He just could not do that. Not and keep going as an actor.
The way Edward looked in Twilight as oppose to New Moon. One of the big differences was, a woman was directing one film and a man, the other.
Catherine has made no bones about how beautiful she thinks Rob is and therefore, she responds to him as a women. She will look at him differently than a man will. She'll see things (we all do) that men do not. In Twilight, that camera was in love with him. Well, the woman directing that camera was in love with him too, meaning that character he was playing. There was an emotionality going on. For me, the most beautiful shot of Edward in the film (there were two and they were shot at the same time)...
When Bella awakes and he's standing there staring down at her AND after he's pulled himself away from her after her hormones and his bloodlust started to explode. Just before he walks back to her, that shot of THAT face. The way Catharine lit the scene. He looked like a fucking painting in those shots.
But we probably won't get much of that from male directors. They don't see the beauty of Edward and Rob in the way that woman would. So, they film him differently.
Which is one of the reasons I cannot wait to see what Madeline Stowe will do with as Phin.
I just made a blanket statement about male directors. Some will capture that beauty. Those with more heightened sensitvity. There were shots of him in Remember Me that were breathtaking.
And then of course, there's that face itself. Even with bad lighting and a director who is not swept away by his beauty, there's no way that the camera cannot capture some it.
The legendary film stars have got something that the rest don't...the camera is in love with them. It wants to caress them.
@nikola6 I Totally agree with your last comments. I Really didn't mean that I don't like the way in which the actors played their roles. I liked them at all, but I agree that with catherine as director the atmosphere was so .... hot and ... I'm sorry if I don't express well myself in english, this is the best I can do!

First, Durob this morning. Still trying to recover from that and now Robward. Oh, be still my heart! What a chameleon! Georges or Edward, what a dilemna.

He looks young again.
He looked young in Twilight, older in New Moon, and now young again.
Lol
I LOVE THESE!!!
Thank you, that is all. ☺ LMAO
Now, that's more like it! :D
Yep, this is the best I've seen Edward so far :D...

Oh Rob, sweetheart, you are lovely. And you do look younger here but I am sorry you will never pass for 17 again. Thank goodness.
These are much better than the NM promos, which were tweedhell.
Yeah, Eclipse Edward is young again, and looking good in denim.

I think it is so odd when people say after seeing him in Remember Me...that he can really ACT!!!!!!
Being a 109 year old Vampire is a little out of the norm isn't it???? I mean that would take some ACTING wouldn't it???
In Remember Me he is an angry teenager who falls in love........wooooo big stretch.
Isn't it odd that no one thinks he is acting in the Twilight Saga?
Uh oh, a jean jacket ;D
@Nik - once again you have me LMAO. I just love reading your posts. Keep the thoughts coming from both of you but do try to get some sleep. I know about the insomnia. She can be a bitch!
