i am looking at new moon and you know what you do you skip all the parts with jacob,so i started watching again when jacob was begging bella that part was great,my mom and cousin and friend both say bella is a slut they find she flirts with jacob all the time
evangeline...I detest it when people--especially women--use the word 'slut' so cavalierly about other women. For heaven's sake. In NM, when Bella and Jacob explore their relationship, Edward has dumped Bella and she is a free agent. In fact, she is suffering greatly and to call her a slut is name-calling of the lowest order. Shame on them.
Are you talking about the part where Jacob leans his head in the car window when Bella and Alice are going to save Edward? It is Jacob I always have trouble with. He had, just a moment earlier, in the house, when answering the phone, effectively doomed Edward by making him think Bella was dead. That betrayal--and I seem to be the only one here who ever mentions it--that was a betrayal which put Edward's life in grave jeopardy but it would hurt Bella big time too and Jacob knew that. He doesn't have her best interests at heart at all. Edward never does that; he always puts Bella's will and safety first. Jacob is a spoiled brat; he is selfish when he begs her to stay, because it means Edward would die and Bella would be guilt-ridden and miserable. Jacob only cares about himself. He gets even worse in Eclipse, and forces himself on Bella. His only excuse is his age and immaturity. To Jacob I say: 'Grow up and deal!'.
I think she's confused about her feelings for Jacob--for a long time--and I do agree that in Eclipse there is almost the phenomenon of the woman wanting to see males fighting for her, which is a female rush--and happens all the time in the animal world. At that point I lose some patience with her. Choose, for god's sake, I'd say to myself while reading. Actually, how she could let her mixed up feelings for Jacob continue after Edward returns and that issue was resolved, I don't know. Perhaps because Jacob himself presents himself as a lover and she loves him as a friend and doesn't want him to leave her life if she rejected him, she's confused.
A slut? Shame on your family for bandying about such a demeaning word so carelessly. What? Are they entranced with J's abs? Or thought the acting in the begging scene you were talking about was goodÉ
