@CL - not that different, just a little longer. it shows J & B pulling up in the rabbit in front of her house & then E speeds in behind them in the volvo & gets out & the rest is the same & we get a little more of the look from Charlie at the end
My husband told me one time that the theaters could make a fortune if they made all the women buy towels (with Edwards face on them) to sit on before they got to see the twilight movies. I totaly agreed with him, I might just have to go out and buy me a shamwow for this one
Yeah, that is interesting, ain't it? No other fluids (except the venom) could escape his body, but he could father a baby? Well...
From the moment Meyer began this story, she knew it would lead to marriage and a baby. She's said so. And I'm supposing that part of that is because of her Mormon upbringing which has taught her that having children is the purpose of and the culmination of this life. And while I don't think that having children is for everyone, it's a damn good thing that most do or else the species would have died out long ago.
I believe she tried to get around this 'glitch' by bringing up the legends of the incubus and the sucubus; VERY rare male and female demons who can mate with and possibly reproduce with humans. And for the purposes of her story, she made Edward an incubus.
But what always made me raise an eyebrow with this, was the 'frozen' aspect of her vampires. The females can't concieve because they can't ovulate. Their ovraries are frozen. But isn't the reproduction of sperm an ongoing everyday pysiological change in a man's body?
Yeah. It was a hole in the storytelling and if you pick this thing apart, there were more than a few.
Besides...I always thought that when Edward came, it would come shooting out like fairy dust or something. LOL!
Yes, you can see. Here would all like to wish a damn dangerous Edward see more often. It's been a great combination of Beauty and Beast. Very fascinating. And then played by Rob. MMMMHHHHHH.
@Kimmie - Jacob kissed Bella without her permission. Edward says that Jacob should not kiss her again unless she asks him to ("wait 'til she says the words")
On NB topic - I know we've been here before but- if vampires' bodies are "frozen" and essentially bloodless, is Edward always "ready"? Trying sooo hard (LOL) to phrase this in a polite fashion - honest!
Yeah Angie, I think he'd get a good giggle out of it too. 'Cause let's face it. We can get pretty damn funny in here and yeah, dat boy's got one warped sense of humour.
And too... If anyone were to go looking around the archives of this blog, they would find no shortage of genuine love and respect poured out on him. Which I think, more than balances the silly, guttah talk.
Girl, you said what i think since the very first time a read the Saga. If you read my coments, you've already seen i'm not a twilight fan, and all i can see is that hole in the story and the mormon upbringing influencing EVERYTHING. I'm not against nothing, i'm an atheist and i respect ALL religions, because i don't mind about them. Just saying that the more i think about it, the more i'm convinced that the fact that "Edward was born in 190...(sorry a i can't remember the exactly year) so he still has that mentality" is just an excuse to the sexual repression till marriage.
I'm so sorry but i think that, please don't take it as an insult or an attac, because it isn't, but you know (ir you read me) i'm very honest when a i have to.
@ robsessive yes my name changed again, but i think it really fit with me, a mix between my name (Esther) and the word "stress" becasue i feel like that right now, so...Est-ress ajajjajajaaj why am i so stupid??
Does anyone know what happens with the saliva-venom? Doesn't this affect Bella (or any human generally)? I haven't heard S.Meyer mentioning this and I wonder if she has and I missed it! There a lot of comments at this thread and I can't read all of them right now so forgive me if someone has already asked this!
No, Viagra for Edward..he he. But I did wonder how Edward could....you know...because physiologically speaking, it's blood to that area that would make "his table be in the upright position" but he doesn't have any blood, he drinks it so....um...any suggestions here? This is a weird topic, but oh well.
vafla89 - If I'm remembering right, the venom has to come in contact with Bella's blood for it to affect her. So unless she had a cut in her mouth or on her lips, kissing is just fine. Well, more than just fine, actually. :)
Meyer re-invented the myth of the vampire, so she did it like she wanted. She doesn't write about "normal" vampires...it's just another kind of vampire, don't try to compare them or you will get crazy. believe me ;)
Ok that is way too much thought into edward's erection...it's a fictional book.
every author has their own interpretation of vampire life or dead living. i dont really think that SM really thought that people were going to disect his erectile functions. remember it's in the teen section. i dont think a teen is thinking... i wonder how blood pumps into his penis to give him an erection.
Thanks Jane. Well. I'm a writer and if I don't got no imagination, then I guess I'm just a typist. I dunno.
@Est-ress...
Yeah, you're right. I wouldn't have mattered if Edward Cullen was born 500 years ago. When a young man reaches puberty (12 or so), those feelings start to kick in. So to say that Edward didn't have those feelings yet indicated to me that he was a eunich. But with so much of her storytelling here, you gotta fill in some of the holes yourself.
Now I had no problem with Edward wanting to wait for marriage. That did make sense to me because he did of come age (during the Edwardian era) when a proper young man and woman (when we still had a thing known as proper society), waited until marriage before having sex. Back then, a man wouldn't think of "compromising" a "nice" girl and especially not one he loved and wanted to be his wife and the mother of his children. Back then, a woman's virginity was her calling card. She gave that up before marriage and she was "tainted."
That was always one of my problems with Titanic; Rose crawling into the back seat of that car with Jack. No way would a "proper" girl of 1912 (and I don't care how free spirited she was), would have done something like that with a boy she'd only known a few days. It was even alluded to that she was already sleeping with Cal ("you are my wife in practice if not by law"). Again, no way. A man like Cal would not have married her if she'd given it up before they were married. Back then, a woman's reputation (sexually speaking ) was EVERYTHING. Cameron was just trying to apease a late 20th century audience who would have felt cheated if his two love birds didn't fuck before the closing credits. Anyway...where was I? Oh who knows.
Emily and Est-ress thank you for your answers! :) There are so many differences between the Twilight vampires and the "normal" ones that is difficult to keep up sometimes!
@Oh Nic just yesterday we were talking with Kerri in another thread about the power of his magic wand.LOL He waves we cum.LOL LOL LOL It's way passed midnight here so I can be a NB alright.
I understand your point of view and i parcially agree with you (The Titanic example has been soooo good!)
But i also think: ok, Edward has the mentality of the era when he was bron, but he's lived more than 100 years, so his mentality should have changed with the passage of the time, his mentality should have changed with the society...or that's what i think, am i wrong??
Both my mother and my father was born and educated while dictatorship in Spain (till 1975, my father was 17 that year), but they don't think like that era!! and i can swear mentality of our dictatorship was very close to the sexual represion and sexism (you know, fascism)
@ dina jajajjaj i love your sense of humor but...(i'm going to be the frikiest right now)...can you say a synonymous of the word "cum" in the context you used it? thanks
True. Nobody owns the copyright on vampires and Stephenie Meyer can write them anyway she wants. However, if you're going to change a premise to this degree, then you've got to be able to back it up. That is if you want to maintain any kind of credibility. And there are a few things about her vampires that bring up valid questions.
From what I understand about the kissing... They can't french kiss because his teeth are razor sharp and coated with venom and if her tongue ran over his teeth (as is won't to do when were kissing like that), the tendor skin of her tongue could be sliced and venom would get into her bloodsteam. Not to mention her blood in Edward's mouth while he's horny as hell making out with her. YOWZA!!!
That's why in BD, right after she awakens from the transformation, she kisses him almost immediately and I guess they really go at it because she then says..."you've been holding out on me." To which he replies..."It was necessary at the time."
Now THAT'S the kiss that I'm looking forward to. That first kiss after she's been turned. And if these ones here in Eclipse are looking this hot, then what the hell is that one gonna look like?
nik - i thought they couldn't really kiss because he was afraid that if he got too turned on, he wouldn't be able to stop. so he paced himself. i never thought about the teeth thing, but maybe.
I can see your point. Having lived through the 20th century when sexual morality changed so drastically, why didn't Edward change with the times?
Because that's how Stephenie Meyer wrote him. He was old fashioned in the extreme and his way of thinking (especially about this), remained with him, as he was taught when still human.
Didn't Carlisle say that they all brought different things with them into their new life; gifts that were enhanced and additudes? Apparently, Edward brought this additude with him into this life and a century wasn't enough to shake it. Maybe if he'd gone another century without Bella, he might have begun to change some of these additudes and engaged in a sexual relationship. Remember, they're going to live for eternity, so a hundred years really isn't that long. Compared to the Volturi, the Cullens are babies at this.
I don't know. It would be interesting to sit with Meyer and pick her brain about all of this.
@ dina don't kill me, i'm very ashamed, but i can't understand "the big O" don't know what that means, and i'm looking for it on a dictionary on line but i can't find it. Please, another synonymous, or better an explanation
I'm feeling like a pain in your necks, girls, forgive me
@Est-ress, I have always thought of Edward as 'that' boy (like he said) but your comment made me realise something. Edward keeps telling Bella that human memory fades. So how can he remember how 'that' boy would propose etc?! Ok I know that he lived in the 20's as a vampire so he can remember some of these things but after being changed he didn't have the same connection with that era. I mean, it must not have been any different to him after the transformation; every era would be different but Edward wouldn't be able to remember many things (things that grew up with and belived in back then) in order to stay connected with one of them, for example the 20's. Dah, I'm sure my comment doesn't make any sense.. What I want to say makes sense only in my head, I can't even describe it in my native language!
(try urban dictionary, it includes evre single word/expression that formal dictionaries don't! ;p)
First, I did not get what was going on with the thread, I had to read a lot of comments, It is assumed that all the 80 mil(as mentioned by Oprah) people who have bought these books and presumably read, have accepted the fact that, Male Vampires still have it and females don't( male dominated Vampire society?).It could be mormon ideals, it is mostly old world ideals where by children were born within 10 months of marriage (consumate relation)
I totally see your point. It's hard to change morality (believe me, it's part of my job) and i know 100 years is nothing compare to the eternity, but i still think it has a little bit of the meyers belief in it.
But, like you say, she wrote him like she wanted, and that's her right. But like i always say, books and films transmit values and beliefs, you want ot not, because they're part of the culture, and i don't agree with some of the values from the books.
Just my opinion. I'm very happy we can share our points of view and we can discuss them, seriously. I love reading another opinions because that makes me more mature, that makes me more smart because i can see reality from different perspectives. Thanks again.
Right. They knew they didn't have to hold back any longer (well, for Edward at least) and with Bella's feelings for him INTENSIFIED, you're right...they couldn't even make it to the bed.
And btw... I never saw the baby coming, but... always knew that Bella wouldn't become a typical blood thirsty newborn. I KNEW that she would be different because she WANTED this and she wanted it for love and that her love and desire for Edward would only intensify.
And it did. I called that one. But yeah, I didn't see that baby coming. Although...
Meyer did drop the first hint about it way back in Twilight. When Bella first gets on that computer to reseach vampires. She reads about the incubus and the sucubus and this is where Meyer first planted the seed (no pun intended) for a that baby.
@ vafla thank you sooo much for saying your opinion, your point is very worth to me because i didn't remember that Edward told Bella human memory fades. so thanks for that reason ;)
I like jawwing away too and yes, Meyer's own morality is certainly written all over the pages of this story AND her religious beliefs.
She was not writing about traditional vampires here. She was writing about glorious, god like creatures (who even sparkle in the sunlight) who will live with their MARRIED mates forever in perfect bodies that will never get sick, never age, never die.
And THAT is Mormon celestial marriage. Right down to the T.
I've always wanted to tell Rob... You do know sweetie, that you're playing Mormon vampires here. And as smart as he is and as well read and as I'm sure he's talked with Meyer about this, he's figured it out.
@Nik please don't change. We are all weirdos here in a good way. We can small talk, serious talk, sex talk all in one thread. A strange bunch we are but such good fun.
In the series of Black Dagger Brotherhood, both male & female vamps are fertile, but women are only fertile every two years or something like that and males can impregnate women both vamps and humans. and the sookie stackhouse vamps, neither male or females are fertile. so like i said everyone has different interpretations of vamps. SM just kept hers a little innocent without much explanation. ITA with your comment about her hint in the first twilight movie.
That's the Meyer view and i repect her, just disagree with the ideas. The problem (to me, because i disagree) is that her beliefs are being spread around the world with the books and the films. Please, i'm not saying they're a bad thing of course, just there are some points i don't share.
Hi Dina!!! :) Yep, ola kala! I'm fine! How about you? The semester is about to finish and I have many projects to do before the exams so although I visit the blog every day I usually don't have time to leave a comment :((
Edward says that human memory fades, yet they bring parts of themselves with them into their new lives. As I said, gifts and additudes. But isn't additude part of memory? I mean, you have to remember the additude you had. Don't you?
Perhaps another hole in the storytelling?
And did someone ask what the 'big O' meant? It means orgasm.
Such a lovely gift from what or whoever put us together. Who or whatever you are...
@Ana ajjajaj i say it out loud!! sex it's part of us, as long as you practise it with "protection" and in freedom, but it doesn't matter if you make it before, while or after marriage ajjajaaj
Wow i feel soo happy right now, normally almost no one agrees with me when a talk about serious questions (i'm normally a little bit radical...)
I am not sexually supressed but 1. my face is plastered on your screans 2. my name too. 3 I did the silliest of the things to introduse this blog to my 12 and 13 year old students so I am scared that someday they will start calling me NB instead of dina if you know what I mean;)
And no, I don't think Meyer was talking about male domination because the males could produce and the females couldn't.
Remember, she mentioned the incubus and the sucubus in the early chapters of the first book. She just wanted Edward and Bella to make a baby and so she made him an incubus.
Not that male domination isn't a part of Mormon theology. It is. It is at the root of all religions. Well. Except the enlightend, new age stuff which come to think of it, alot of that predates the organization of religion and the takeover of it, by men.
Man. This is one different thread.
We started out with kissing which led to Edward waving his wand like Tinker bell and now were onto organized religion and male domination.
Apologies to those who just wanna play here. But sometimes, we actually start thinking too.
Come to think of it. I'll never apologize for thinking.
And shut up Rob. You think better than most. That's you're problem babe. You think too much and you can't get it expressed in the way that you'd like.
I'm loving the conversation, but I'm hanging out here on this thread because I'm trying to stay away from the papp photos of Rob on set this morning.
I know that my feelings about this sort of thing are not very popular around here and I said over there, I'd try to keep my trap shut about it during this go round of location filming.
@ nikola, actually, i think the books have something to do with the religion (mormon, like we said) and some kind of male domination (for example, i don't like the clip, Edward and Jacob fighting for Bella like it doesn't matter her opinion, in fact, they aren't listening to her. Bella is tooooo dependent for me, she depends a lot on Edward or Jacob, i want INDEPENDENT GIRLS!!!), but i don't want to start anohter debate
I love to have fun in here, but i also love thinking and talking. Most of days we have fun, today we're thinking. No problem. It's the best balance between laugh and think ;)
I'd really like to have a conversation with S.Meyer! There are so many things I want to ask her (and I'm sure if I keep reading comments new questions will arise)! I'm pretty sure she won't have asnwers to all of my/our questions though. I believe that she never thought of some of the things that are mentioned here. There are many holes in the storytelling and I know that we'll find new ones!
Sorry for a confusing comment, I meant that Male Vampires have a capacity to impregnate and female Vampires can not even ovulate because the ovary would have to have eggcells , but in contrast Males would have spermcells( I can explain the process of spermatogenis which would be impossible a person who is frozen for 100 years)What I meant old world is that , my parents had my older brother within 9 mths after their marriage.Hope this is a good explanation,Thanks
@Est LOL LOL LOL LOL believe me I was looking for another word of cum and I couldn't find any until the big O hit me.(not literally) So if I got that right you are a tough cookie on the outside and a mellow one on the inside, don't we all?
@Est-ress, when she was invited to Oprah she had asked the fans to send her their questions. I really hope she'll do this again some time! I wonder if there is any e-mail address on her website; maybe fans can send her their questions that way!
Gotta step back into RL for a bit (that bastard). I'll check back later to see what were up to next.
'Cause I'm still curious about something...
If he can't change physically, then how did he get that first erection and would he then walk around with it for eternity? Jesus Christ!!! (everytime Rob says that, I fall on the floor laughing)
Oh yeah right. He's an incubus.
Oh. He's so special. **giggles**
Laters baby
(and if she doesn't update that thing soon...I'm gonna SCREAM!!! I don't give a good goddamn about her life. I NEED my Fifty!)
Yes, you got it right, but i don't know your level. I mean, i'm VERY tough outside. It's like i'm 2 different persons inside my body&mind ajajajjaajajaj "bipolar" ajajajaj noooo i don't want to scare you! just joking ;)
@Est-ress, English isn't my native language either! It's been a year since I finished my lessons and I got my degree! So now I try to use English as much as possible cause I don't want to forget what I learnt! And Robsessed and you ladies help a lot with this! BTW, my native language is Greek!
Yes I was born in 1989! Late December actually! Dah, I should have waited a bit, now everyone is like 'So you're 21' and I'm always like 'No I'm still 20.. there are so many months until my turning 21!' LOL
@Est-ress, I think we should start writing down all these questions and when we have a lot of them we should send them to S.M.!
I've never heard of this movie! Is it Greek with Spanish subtitles? 'DogTooth' is the the actual translation ('kynos' means dog in ancient Greek and 'donti' means tooth) but I think the English word for this is 'fang'! (so no 'kynodontas' for Edward! LOL)
Blogs, books and ff are the best ways to improve your English! You can learn new things/phrases and since you connect them with sth you like (for example twilight) it's easier for you to remember! For example, until last year I kept telling 'you DO worth it' instead of 'you ARE worth it'. Then Jasper said it to Bella and it stayed on my mind! I remember there was an exercise with this phrase and my teacher asked me why I chose that answer and I told her 'I don't know, but I do know that it's correct; Jasper used it that way'! Moreover it's nice to talk with other people; have fun, learn new things, see differnt mentalities and perspectives! I really enjoy this blog cause almost everyone is nice and mature here, it's like a big family!
Ah, I have to go, it's 2am here! Goodnight my new friend! Laters!
Sparkly fairy dust and magic wand....I'm SO in!! On top of that, Fierceward is getting me hot!!! Let the dog have it, baby! Your wand will stand the test of time..just sayin'..
Eclipse was my least favorite book, because it made Bella look like a two-faced skank. In Edward's shoes, all things being equal, after the second kiss and all the crap she and Jacob pulled in Eclipse, Jacob can have her. Bella's lucky that love in vampires is forever, no matter what their two-timing human mate does to them. That being said...
The pluses in this scene are that Edward isn't the Prince Valium that he was in the book. We actually get to see him expressing some anger.
Glory be, Jacob and Bella actually have to suffer some real consequences for something.
The minuses are that, unlike the book, Bella looks more upset about getting busted and what Edward might do to the dog than she does about what her boy toy did, but I can't judge on that completely until we see the scene in context.
Edward looks better, Bella looks worse, and Jacob just looks slimy. So, little change for Jacob from the book.
And is it me, or did Billy Burke look like he was about to give vent to an "attaboy"? Even if he doesn't say it, Edward will have picked it up. That should be awkward.
Rick
PS...Earlier today I saw a woman elsewhere refer to Charlie aka BB as a DILF. Please tell me that y'all don't do that around here.
nikola6 - Hey. Regarding the vampire canon, venom, and kissing, Meyer had some serious internal consistency issues. As a friend of mine remarked..."Twilight was a great premise executed by a mediocre writer." Still, for all of that, it grabs you like a terrier and hangs on. Most of it's inconsistencies can be rationalized away if you're willing to dance around them enough.
If you want to read an interesting AU fic that has a slightly different take on Edward, Bella, venom, and kissing, follow this URL. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4922956/1/The_Day_The_Earth_Stood_Still
The only thing that grabbed me about those books was Robert playing the role of Edward. Of course, I read them after I knew who he was. Those books have so many holes and questions, I don't even try to rationalize them anymore. I've always been a devoted Anne Rice fan tho, along with Alice Borchardt. I mean, when it comes to the vampires and werewolves arena. Lestat will always be my number one vampire hunk. Alice actually makes me laugh out loud the way she does portray her werewolves similar to dogs.
I cannot even say that SM became a better writer as the books went on. "Breaking Dawn" seemed to me it was rushed through. Packing everything into one book; trying to get it done and over with it. Usually I do not say this, but I really appreciate their story in the form of films.
Rick, shame on you.."two-faced skank"? Never heard that coming from a man before.
Kember - What shame? Bella in Eclipse seemed to have lost major IQ points when it came to Jacob Black. I mean geez, you have a guy who wants you. He makes no bones about the fact, informing both you and your boyfriend at every opportunity that you belong with him, and that he intends to take you. In fact he's the mortal enemy of your boyfriend's family and would love nothing better than the tiniest excuse to massacre them. And despite all of his antics you keep going back to see him again and again while protesting to your boyfriend that he's "just a friend".
What sort of message does that send to the people involved? What was Edward's family thinking? Watching your brother and/or son play doormat to his human girlfriend and her "best friend" had to be depressing.
Nope, had Edward been human, Bella would have been out on her butt halfway through Eclipse. The whole "love is irrevocable in vampires" thing was all that let her hang onto her man.
Bella had what amounted to an emotional affair with Jacob Black over the entire run of Eclipse, and it turned physical with the second kiss and Bella's "happily ever after with Jacob" fantasy. Just how much crap is Edward supposed to eat? Your girl cheats on you, then runs and apologizes to the other man because she can't cheat with him anymore, and finishes it off by crying on you all night long because she can't have her cake and eat it to.
Speaking as a man, just how lopsided a romance is that?
Meyer intentionally constructed the perfect man in Edward. Able to take insane levels of emotional abuse, and yet continue loving his mate. Good for Bella, not so good for Edward.
All of which begs the question, what was going on with Bella? She's billed (and written) as this incredibly mature and perceptive person in Twilight and New Moon. She had more maturity and self-awareness in her little finger as a zombie in New Moon than she did in Eclipse. Pre-Eclipse Bella would rather have been burned alive than pull the sort of stuff she did in Eclipse. Yet there she was, taking Edward completely for granted and walking all over him.
I know there are lots of holes in this story where vampires' frozen states and bodily fluids go--if SM knew all along it was going in the direction of babies then she should have thought this one through. Also, she's virtually created her own type of vampire, with her own rules, so she could have thought her rules through.
About Edward's...er....I thought it would be like a rocket blasting off, or a flamethrower... I know they are all hot images but, man, he is hot.
You forget what Jacob did for her while Edward completely vanished on her. After, he promised he would never leave her, and that he couldn't live without her. Kinda f^cks up a girl's thinking. Esp. after what? How long was he gone for? Plus, what a stupid mistake intelligently just leaving. Cracks a girl's confidence in her man, esp. when he's supposed to be this 109 uber-hunk. Intelligent my ass. I would have smacked him at the clock tower and prolly broke my hand..LOL.
Oh, and his family. They cut all ties with her too. After they brought her into the family. Jacob helped her and they all know that. It's called guilt. That's how they stood back and watched it.
I'm not forgetting what Jacob did for her. He began to move on her aggressively while she was vulnerable. He was pursuing her while she was walking wounded. They have a name for that, and it ain't a nice one. The kindest thing I can call it is predatory.
Yep, the Cullens were unkind to Bella when they left without a word, but that was at Edward's behest...and he was trying to do the right thing. His intentions were good. At what point in any of this mess was Jacob trying to do the right thing for anyone but himself? Bella wins no prizes either until after she had her "Oh shit, what have I done?" moment up on the mountain. And even then she didn't completely let go of Jacob as "the other man" until after the kid was born, he imprinted, and she changed.
Really? I believe it was she who came out to his house first. Asking him to fix bikes that were actually a piece of junk, but he accepted anyway. Even though, he was working and trying to get his car up and running. See what I mean? These books are so full of people using other people, angst, and down right lunacy in some places. I cannot talk about these books. I see every character's point of view, and I'm not on anyone's "side". That's the whole point in reading books, or so I thought.
*swipes Rick's man-card*
That's for being on a fictional character's "team". Also, you typed the word "ain't". That bothers me. Have a nice night. :)
Kember - Yep, she went out there looking for a friend. Jacob didn't want to be her friend, for all that he pretended to be. He wanted to be her lover. That's a whole other ball of wax.
Too late on the man card. I think the man police got that back a long time ago. ;-)
Crap. I wished I'd been over here yapping instead of on the papp pic threads having a cow and making everyone wish I'd just jab a fork in my eye and be done with it.
Hmmm... Rick? I know you're probably sleeping, but maybe you'll see this tomorrow.
The first time I read Eclipse and Bella kissed Jacob to keep him from going to the fight (which he so freakin' manipulated her into) and then admitted she loved him, I took that like a punch in the gut. All I could think about was Edward. And I'll admit that his calm response to it all, surprised me. But then I chalked it up to his maturity and then I thought...
In having Bella realize that she loved Jake too, it made her choice stronger. Jacob was a viable choice for her. She could have remained human, stayed with her family and had children. It was another path. Even Edward saw that. But the fact that she chose Edward when there was ANOTHER choice to make, did make her choice stronger. And then I was okay with it.
And yes, she did have an affair of the heart with Jacob in Eclipse, but I don't think she was aware that that is what was going on. I think she just thought that he was her friend, he'd saved her emotionally (and literally in the ocean) when Edward left her. And I think she felt Jacob's pain. She had to break his heart and she didn't want to. Yes, it may have looked like she was on some sort of fence with these two boys, but she really wasn't. She would have sacrificed Jacob's life for Edward's ANYDAY. She'd have hated herself, but she would have done it. From the moment Edward walked into that cafeteria, her fate (and his) was sealed. Jacob was a distraction, but I don't think he was any kind of a real threat. And let's face it, this was an 18 year old girl. And who didn't make stupid mistakes and errors in judgement at that age.
Although... From what I've seen of these clips, Edward isn't looking so passive to me here. That crack about 'doesn't he have a shirt?' The look of hurt on his face when Jacob embraces her. The way he's kissing her just before he turns her over to Jake (staking his claim so to speak) and of course, getting to passionately in his face after Jake kisses.
Me thinks they've jacked Edward up a bit from the book. Which is a good thing. Wonder who fought for these changes?
Anyway. It's late and I don't think I can form one more coherant sentence. Well. Not that I ever do.
I know you're a guy and I absolutely love your take on all of this, but...
'Skank' is an unfair word to use to describe Bella in this instance. She was confused and torn. Not about her love for Edward. Never, not even after he abandoned her, did she ever waiver on that. She wanted to allivate Jacob's pain because she believed she was the cause of it.
As for Jacob... Yeah. He was a petulant, manipulative, selfish brat, but...he felt he was fighting for her mortal life. The thought of her becoming his mortal enemy was more than he could take. I think anyone would have fought like Jacob did, dirty though it was. I also think he would have stepped aside and pursued her no more if she'd agreed to leave Edward and remain human. Yeah I do.
I think what was motivating these three characters was...
Jacob -- wanting her to stay human Bella -- wanting to take away Jacob's pain Edward -- willing to 'take it' because of his guilt in leaving her and having to accept that it was his actions that drove her to Jacob in the first place.
And being the 'grownup' here, he let HER figure it out. Better that he KNOWS the choice was her's and not something he tried to manipulate. Jacob wasn't mature enough to understand that.
Oh. And you asked a question about DILF's. Well. I cannot speak for anyone else here...
But for me, to sleep with someone who is married to another, is one of the worse things you can do. Because you're not just messing with your lover's spouse. You are messing with a family. And nothing can justify that.
Not that I can't understand it. The heart wants what the heart wants. But do the right thing and walk away. And maybe that's easy for me to say because I've never fallen in love with a married man. And I've more than once prayed (to a god I'm not sure in what form exists), that I never do. Because that would be the real test of my convictions.
This looks hot! I had not seen this version with Edward jumping out of the car. I take it from this scene that in the movie version Edward reads Jacob's mind to learn of the kiss. Which is unfortunate, because I so enjoyed Bella's I-am-gonna-tell-my-boyfriend-on-you reaction and Edward living up to her expectations since Charlie didn't.
Bella's head in the way AGAIN when Jacob is speaking is really bothering me. Its like they left the marking to chance.
Lastly, when Charlie touches both Jacob and Edward at the end, shouldn't HE note the differences in their temperatures? They are only wearing a single layer.
Looking forward to this freaking movie and I am trying really hard to not watch too much of it in advance. Ugh!

FILFIERCEDWARD!!!!!
I cant wait to see FierceWard on the big screen.
My husband told me one time that the theaters could make a fortune if they made all the women buy towels (with Edwards face on them) to sit on before they got to see the twilight movies. I totaly agreed with him, I might just have to go out and buy me a shamwow for this one
There's my Badassward. Let's see if the critics call you a pansy vampire this time around.
And ya know Edward...
If you really want to break and train this puppy, why don't ya piss on the ground and rub his nose in it?
Oh yeah. You can't piddle, can ya?
Well then. Just kick his little puppy ass back to La Push.
I know were not gonna get it, but man oh man. Wouldn't ya just love to see a fist fight between these two?
FIERCEWARD for the Win!!!
Ya know Nik, You brought up something that keeps going through my mind...the vamps can't cry & don't piss, yet our boy was able to ejaculate...
;)
just sayin...
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
nuff said.
@nik and angie-k hey I like whats on your mind girls
@angi, I have been thinking the same thing since I first read BD and its been bugging me ever since then.
Angie,
Lol.......it's just one a those things......
@ angie
Hmmm, I wondered that when I read BD too. Not that we pay attention to the details - much...
This thread has taken quite the turn...
http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/bd_faq.html
About half way down the page she explains it. Basically not all of Edward's, uh, fluids were changed into venom.
Aaaanyway, love me some angry Edward. Jacob's looking pretty hot too. And Charlie, for that matter. :)
Love this scene, it gives me chills.
FierceWard is hot as hell. But I think Charly is not bad. Its cool look of admiration, as Jacob says he has kissed Bella. priceless. ;)
Oh no! All of the videos have disappeared - very strange... They were here earlier. Fierceward! Come back! Please?
Not gonna look...not gonna look!
Jesus, just watching this clip makes me hyperventilate, pretty sure I'm not gonna survive Angryward in all his big screen glory!
@Fifty - yeah, not much
I guess we can write it off to "creative license"...
LOL!
@fifty I have it on another webside
LOL! @fairy dust! Sooo Sparkly...
;)
Nik,
Fairy dust, sparkly sperm??
LMNBArseO
Yup. Thread's taken a turn allright.
We now got Edward coming like Tinker Bell waving her wand.
LMAO!
@nik fairy dust sparkling sperm LOL
@nik tinkerbel;))
God. Can you imagine what Rob would think if he ever did read any of what we get up to in here?
Oh baby. Just laugh. That's what were doing.
(raises hand) My fault for turning the thread. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. My mind goes there...a lot!
;)
LOL!
@nik and angie-k as I guess he would get blushed LOL
Angie,
NBU!!!!!!
LMNBArseO!
Yes, you can see. Here would all like to wish a damn dangerous Edward see more often. It's been a great combination of Beauty and Beast. Very fascinating. And then played by Rob. MMMMHHHHHH.
Um can someone clear the part that Edward says " wait till she says the words." <<<< what does he mean by that?
@Nik -We'll buy him a beer to relax him & then I think he'd laugh & join right in. Our boy has a wicked sense of humor...
@Dessert - NBU!!!
@Kimmie - Jacob kissed Bella without her permission. Edward says that Jacob should not kiss her again unless she asks him to ("wait 'til she says the words")
Well Angie...
If you'll notice, I jumped right on it, didn't I?
Well. I've never been one to pass up a good opportunity to edge towards that guttah where Rob or Edward are concerned.
So do we dangle precariously on the edge, or do we jump in with both feet?
I haven't even had lunch yet. Maybe it is a little early.
I know I've said this before......
FIERCEWARD OWNS MY ASS!!!!!!!!
HolyMaryMotherOfGodSweetBabyJesusChristAlmightyInTheMangerWithTheThreeWiseMenAndTheAnimals.....*inhales*....FlyingF*ckingSh*tSonOfAMotherF*ckingB*tchJustPunchHisF*ckingLightsOutFierceward!!!!!!!!!!
sigh.....I feel better now....
@LHR NBU same hon same =))
On NB topic - I know we've been here before but- if vampires' bodies are "frozen" and essentially bloodless, is Edward always "ready"? Trying sooo hard (LOL) to phrase this in a polite fashion - honest!
Just wondering...
@Angie--PLEASE don't turn this into another Psych 101 thread, please.
:D:D:D:D
It's fiction...just sayin.
LMAO! @LHR
@Nik - LOL! IKR? I wasn't alone for long on that one! I'll have to just dangle right now 'cause I have to go for a bit...RL calls
FILFIERCEWARD!!!!
Leslie,
The look on Fiercewards face when Bella and Jacob hug ---- if looks could kill it would be a contender!
@fifty I know what you mean well we cant know without try but he would be like the statue of adonis I think
@CL - no psych 101 here...all NB in the thinking...
;D
@Fifty - was it really that "hard"?
We can keep it polite.
@dessert I have never thought that a cold look like this can be so fucking hot
Yeah Angie, I think he'd get a good giggle out of it too. 'Cause let's face it. We can get pretty damn funny in here and yeah, dat boy's got one warped sense of humour.
And too...
If anyone were to go looking around the archives of this blog, they would find no shortage of genuine love and respect poured out on him.
Which I think, more than balances the silly, guttah talk.
@angie-k do you think we can keep it polite or do will we want it to be polite LOL
@ nik, I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO YOU
Girl, you said what i think since the very first time a read the Saga.
@ robsessive check your email
@est-ress name change again be honest girl thats the best and I replied your mail :)
Oooh, I want Fierceward to fight for me! ;-)
Just reposting the link I posted earlier, in case anyone is interested in reading SM's explanation.
http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/bd_faq.html
@HeartRob - Glad you noticed Charlie too. :) I love Billy Burke.
I will never look at Tinkerbell the same again.........
LMFNBArseO!!!!!!!
@nikola girl laughing so hard now and I can imagine robs face lets find a volunter for this
@LHR me too
@ robsessive yes my name changed again, but i think it really fit with me, a mix between my name (Esther) and the word "stress" becasue i feel like that right now, so...Est-ress ajajjajajaaj why am i so stupid??
i'll answer you
@est-ress yeah thats what I guess from the ress but dont tell me stress girl you know :) waiting for the answer
@ nikola- that would be very funny to see his face expression if someone asked him that question
@kimmie yeah believe I can almost see it=))
Does anyone know what happens with the saliva-venom?
Thanks Nik, now every time I have to watch Peter Pan I will think of shooting fairy dust. LMAO!!!
Denise - go to the link on SM's webside I posted a few minutes ago. :)
@ vafla
no one asked that, don't worry ;)
Meyer re-invented the myth of the vampire, so she did it like she wanted. She doesn't write about "normal" vampires...it's just another kind of vampire, don't try to compare them or you will get crazy. believe me ;)
Uh, that should be websiTe.
Ok that is way too much thought into edward's erection...it's a fictional book.
every author has their own interpretation of vampire life or dead living. i dont really think that SM really thought that people were going to disect his erectile functions. remember it's in the teen section. i dont think a teen is thinking... i wonder how blood pumps into his penis to give him an erection.
i wasn't going to comment but couldn't resist :))
Thanks Jane. Well. I'm a writer and if I don't got no imagination, then I guess I'm just a typist. I dunno.
@Est-ress...
There are so many differences between the Twilight vampires and the "normal" ones that is difficult to keep up sometimes!
LOL Ana!
@Oh Nic just yesterday we were talking with Kerri in another thread about the power of his magic wand.LOL
He waves we cum.LOL LOL LOL
It's way passed midnight here so I can be a NB alright.
dina - that is hilarious, i just spit my tea out of my mouth when i read it :))
Hi emily :))
@ nikola, thanks for answering me.
Both my mother and my father was born and educated while dictatorship in Spain (till 1975, my father was 17 that year), but they don't think like that era!! and i can swear mentality of our dictatorship was very close to the sexual represion and sexism (you know, fascism)
i'll wait your answer
(talk about your tonsil hockey)
nik - i thought they couldn't really kiss because he was afraid that if he got too turned on, he wouldn't be able to stop. so he paced himself. i never thought about the teeth thing, but maybe.
@ nik, sorry, my dad was 19 in 1975, not 17. my mum is who was 17.
@Est cum= the big O
That's why the first time the made love after her turning they didn't make it to bed, if you remember.
@Est-ress...
I can see your point. Having lived through the 20th century when sexual morality changed so drastically, why didn't Edward change with the times?
Because that's how Stephenie Meyer wrote him. He was old fashioned in the extreme and his way of thinking
(especially about this), remained with him, as he was taught when still human.
(try urban dictionary, it includes evre single word/expression that formal dictionaries don't! ;p)
I guess Nik gave an answer to all that mess in my head about Edward's 'memory'! Thank you Nik!!
@Est I know you are pulling my leg so I give up.
ORGASM
@ nikola, thanks again
Dina...
Oh my god. Look at this thread. Were over a 100 comments now. I keep wondering, how does this happen? Then I remember.
You've all got a big, fat, flopping mouth in your presence.
**looks down sheepishly**
@ vafla thank you sooo much for saying your opinion, your point is very worth to me because i didn't remember that Edward told Bella human memory fades. so thanks for that reason ;)
@vafla long time no blog how are you doing? Ola kala elpizo filakia
@ dina thank you soooo much!
and say it out loud, THE BIG ORGASM.
Fuck this sexually repressed society ;)
dina - u r so funny :)) the big "O". i guess you had to spell it out LOL.
@ sarsaparill
i want to get your point but i have some troubles with the language (i'm from spain)
when you say "Male Vampires still have it and females don't" what do you mean with "have it"
and when you say "it is mostly old world ideals where by children were born within 10 months of marriage (consumate relation)", what do you mean?
I understand all the words, but no the whole meaning.
I'm sorry, need help
You're welcome Est-ress...
And as smart as he is and as well read and as I'm sure he's talked with Meyer about this, he's figured it out.
estress - ITA "Fuck this sexuall suppressed society" just say it and say it proud :))
@ nik
of course he knows.
That's the Meyer view and i repect her, just disagree with the ideas. The problem (to me, because i disagree) is that her beliefs are being spread around the world with the books and the films. Please, i'm not saying they're a bad thing of course, just there are some points i don't share.
Oh my!!!!!!!
THUD X100!!!!
I LOVE Fierceward!!!!
Oh yeah, that's what I'm asking!
:)))
And the car is back!!! THUD again!
Hi Dina!!! :)
Yep, ola kala! I'm fine! How about you?
The semester is about to finish and I have many projects to do before the exams so although I visit the blog every day I usually don't have time to leave a comment :((
@vafla89...
You got a point there...
Edward says that human memory fades, yet they bring parts of themselves with them into their new lives. As I said, gifts and additudes. But isn't additude part of memory? I mean, you have to remember the additude you had. Don't you?
Perhaps another hole in the storytelling?
And did someone ask what the
'big O' meant? It means orgasm.
Such a lovely gift from what or whoever put us together. Who or whatever you are...
Big thanks there buddy (or girlfriend).
Appreciate it.
@ nikola, it was me, i've asked what "the big o" means, you know, my problems with the language
I hear ya.
@ bbbbuuuuaaaaaaaahhhhhhh
lolololololololoolololololololololololololololololololo
ajajajajajjaajajajaj
you're so good!!! yes, you have to be careful! ajajaj but after saying "cum", why are you worried about saying the big orgasm? ;)
If someone of my people know i'm here, i'd be dead, the dead of my "against-everything" reputation :)
Truth is...
I'm loving the conversation, but I'm hanging out here on this thread
because I'm trying to stay away from the papp photos of Rob on set this morning.
I know that my feelings about this sort of thing are not very popular around here and I said over there, I'd try to keep my trap shut about it during this go round of location filming.
I swear, I will try.
@ vafla, ITA
can we organise a meeting with S.M.?? so we can talk for hours...
@Est LOL LOL LOL LOL believe me I was looking for another word of cum and I couldn't find any until the big O hit me.(not literally)
So if I got that right you are a tough cookie on the outside and a mellow one on the inside, don't we all?
@ sarsaparilla
thanks, you comment wasn't confusing, the problem is that english is not my native language.
Now i understand you, thanks
@ dina
AJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJ
"until the big O hit me.(not literally)"
AJAJAJAJAJAJJAAJAJJ
Yes, you got it right, but i don't know your level. I mean, i'm VERY tough outside. It's like i'm 2 different persons inside my body&mind ajajajjaajajaj "bipolar" ajajajaj noooo i don't want to scare you! just joking ;)
You are welcome ,Est-ress.
@ vafla hey girl! good idea!!! but please, you write, english is not my native language, i don't want to look like an ignorant ajajjaaj
BTW, were you born in 1989? me too!
@ nikola
are you meaning Edward with an erection forever?????
AJAJJAAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJ
ladies, i really love you
wow 0:40 am in spain, fuck, always the same, i should have been working or sleeping, hate you ;)
@Est I was married to a bipolar for 16 whole years so no I am not easily scared.
@ dina and how it was? (if you don't want, don't answer, just ignore this ;)
i really love talking with you seriously
@Est-ress, English isn't my native language either! It's been a year since I finished my lessons and I got my degree! So now I try to use English as much as possible cause I don't want to forget what I learnt! And Robsessed and you ladies help a lot with this! BTW, my native language is Greek!
Yes I was born in 1989! Late December actually! Dah, I should have waited a bit, now everyone is like 'So you're 21' and I'm always like 'No I'm still 20.. there are so many months until my turning 21!' LOL
@ vafla
so i think we'll need help with the S.M. e-mail. you speak greek??? last sunday i went to the cinema to see "Kynodontas (DogTooth)"
ooohhh so you're 20 right now, ok. ajajja i turned 21 on february.
BTw, i always say the same as you: i've learnt a lot of english here
@Est-ress, I think we should start writing down all these questions and when we have a lot of them we should send them to S.M.!
FILTM!!
Okay, late to the party with a male POV...
If you want to read an interesting AU fic that has a slightly different take on Edward, Bella, venom, and kissing, follow this URL. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4922956/1/The_Day_The_Earth_Stood_Still
Rick
Mark, Rick, or Steve..
*smirk* :D
WWUWT?
Rick
Nik...'when Edward came...fairy dust...' Hah!
Rick
I think the man police got that back a long time ago. ;-)
Sleep tight.
Rick
P.S.
Jacob -- wanting her to stay human
Bella -- wanting to take away Jacob's pain
Edward -- willing to 'take it' because of his guilt in leaving her and having to accept that it was his actions that drove her to Jacob in the first place.
And being the 'grownup' here, he let HER figure it out. Better that he KNOWS the choice was her's and not something he tried to manipulate. Jacob wasn't mature enough to understand that.
I'm not sure we have any real villians here.
Well. That was one helluva P.S.
Yeah. Well. I'm kinda that way.
But
do the right thing and walk away. And maybe that's easy for me to say because I've never fallen in love with a married man. And I've more than once prayed (to a god I'm not sure in what form exists), that I never do. Because that would be the real test of my convictions.
Anyway...just my feelings on it.
Charlie = Uber-DILF~!!! LOL
@Rick: Bravo, my sentiments exactly!
@nikola6: shooting fairy dust...LOL! That was hilarious! :-)
Ugh!
