British Actor Doug Booth Talks About Being Compared To Robert Pattinson
Up and coming Brit actor Douglas Booth has been chatting about being compared to Robert Pattinson.
The 17-year-old actor and Burberry model, who stars in the upcoming Boy George biopic Worried About The Boy, is being touted as the new Pattinson thanks to his similarly blossoming career and boyish good looks.
However, Doug says the comparisons can be frustrating at times: "He's not a bad person to be compared to but it's also tough because you always want to become your own person. You don't always want to be compared to someone else but it's most certainly not a bad comparison."

this guys it cute-and its flattering to be compared to ROb. Rob won me over with his personality-and his sense of humor. He's quick on the take and I burst out laughing so many times during one interview and (lately) on Oprah ,Im again reminded why I love him soo much.
i'm sorry but this guy is just ugly and comparing him to the holy hotness that is Robert Fucking Pattinson is just wrong... i mean it's ok if some find mildly attractive but to dare compare him with the most adorkable, funniest, witty and just plain HOT guy in the world is just mean to the poor guy. I like that he still wanted to pave a way for himself. Seems like a nice guy... I would have fun with that comparison if I was a guy. I would be like "some say I'm better". I'd be joking, but I would try to make light of it.
As sweet as this kid is and as nice as that compliment is. There is only one ROB.
I like this guy.....He's definitely cute but still in a boyish sort of way....a little like Rob circa Goblet of Fire...I like his voice (i mean come on!!!! a posh British accent can make even a broom look sexy) ...But i agree that he lacks that certain spark or "je ne se qua" that makes our Rob special....
Definitely got me interested in seeing this Boy George movie though...

And I have no urge to see this boy and this film somehow they compare him to anybody.Usually I don't like to be influenced to see anything, especially not by the media. I'm usually going opposite to the media.
Come on - the kid didn't compare himself with Rob - it's the media who did that. Any aspiring young 17 y/o is going to be happy to be compared with Rob. The kid doesn't deserve any flak for it.
Nice and smart for a 17 year's old kid... But it's just a kid, Rob is a man. No comparison possible for me... Rob does to me what noone else has ever done, actor or singer, and certainely not a kid of 17 years old with lips that look like tires and a head dodling all over the place when answering questions....

For how long have we been hearing...'the new James Dean?' It's even been said about Rob.
I figured it would happen one day to Rob too, but not this soon. What it means is, an actor is iconic enough to make comparisons too. And for Rob's generation, he certainly is becoming an icon.
I haven't watched the vid, but I'm going to guess that this is being based on this kid's looks as this is where these comparisons come into play; that they look like or remind us of the iconic star who came before them.
But still, to already have a comparison made to him so young in his career, this is really unbelieveable.

This is silly. There can't be a new Rob Pattinson because Rob Pattinson is still new. He's just getting started. These comparisons will actually mean something through the years if Rob can manage longevity in his career; remaining a star and while getting that critical acclaim as an actor that he so richly deserves.
Okay. Just looked at the vid and it is a valid comparison. He does look like Rob. Look at the bone structure, the eyes, the full mouth, the coloring. This kid could play Rob's little brother on film.
He seemed quite lovely to me and he was complimentary to Rob. Nothing to be upset about here.

This kid didn't bring it up Rob's name. The interview did and said that there have been made many comparisons to Rob. And since we don't know who the hell this kid is in America, I would imagine that all of these comparisons are being made in England.
So i was thinking about the twilight premiere and i am on the fence still about going, my DH hasn't made up his mind if we are going or not but he brought something up to me...he is a diehard laker fan and he said that WHEN they win the championship wouldn't that be around the time of the premiere he said wouldn't it be around the nokia center. i hadn't thought about that, what do you think??? will it effect the whole line up thing going on??? i know he is thinking way too far in advance but i thought i would ask you since you are there.
i also put in the request for jimmy kimmel tickets hoping to get the email confirmation. i dont know if i would be able to go back for the premiere if by some way JK comes thru.
Well. Since I'm not following the NBA playoffs this year, I'm not sure of the schedules. I don't know where the Lakers are at this point. I know they're playing Arizona and the only reason I know this is because, Los Angeles is the
first city in the country to issue a boycott of the state of Arizona because of their new nazi like stance on illegal immigration (don't want to get political here. but Americans don't 'carry papers.') And so...the Lakers could get knocked out by the Suns.
Actually, there is lots of activity around that area; sporting events, concerts and remember, Eclipse is opening a film festival. So there's going to be alot more there than just Twilight fans.
I don't have an answer to your question because I don't know where the Lakers will be come June 24th? Isn't the basketball season over by then? It should be. That's nearly three months after the baseball season starts.
Go to the Lakers website or the NBA playoffs website and look at the schedule of the finals.
And just a side note...
I cannot believe that Summit would put their fans at risk by holding this premiere in one of the most dangerous sections of Los Angeles. This place is 'gang central.' Those of you going?

As far as I know, if you're camped out at that premiere, then no, you wouldn't be able to leave to go to the Kimmel taping. You'd lose your spot. If you get into Kimmel, I'd take those tickest and forgo the premiere. But that's me.
The premiere is going to be madness and while you would certainly see Rob, there is no guarantee that he'd come close enough to you for you to even get a decent a picture of him.
I was considering this if it was just the one night at Grauman's. But three??? Where the hell are you gonna go to the bathroom? Is Summit going to set up porta potties? This really is gonna be ROBstock. And does anyone remember what the real Woodstock looked liked? It was a filty, horrid MESS!
Besides...crowds scare the friggin' hell out of me.

But like I said, if you get into Kimmel, that's what I would opt for over the premiere. And I wanna say one more thing and then I'll shut up about it. And don't get mad at me. Get mad at the clucky mother hen who lives inside of me...
You have to know that you're playing the lottery here. You could come all this way, spend all that money, sit in blistering heat or pouring rain for three days and he could walk up the other side of the barricade that you're standing on and like I said, not even be able to get a decent picture of him. And if that were to happen, you're gonna crash emotionally. Cause you'll build this up and if it doesn't pan out...HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Just be prepared. I don't know.
This just 'feels' different than Twilight events in the past; bigger, more out of control and considering where you're going to be camped out...VASTLY MORE DANGEROUS!!!
Although I cannot imagine that Summit will not have security on hand and provide some kind of facilities. I mean my god, they know that women and their young daughers will be showing up. If something should go wrong in that scary neighborhood, then no, Summit could not be legally held responsible, but they'd sure as hell be 'morally' responsible and they could wind up with one hell of a PR nightmare on their hands.

There is only one Rob. Its his inside as well as his outside that gets me. Love the natural talent that is his completely. And he is so funny, love his laughter. Thank God we get his jokes. No one takes his shocking remarks seriously anymore. At least I don't.
It's the jaw, the kid has a pretty strong jawline, just like Rob. That's probably what's setting off all the comparisons. He's a little cutie, but thankfully doesn't set my hormones racing.

I think Rob's name was the media alarm to see this film. And my opinion is the same...I don't need the media guide for my choosing to see or read anything. I use my friends opinion for it.

QUICK - he's on the TV NOW - if you are in the UK this programme is on now - "Worried about the Boy". It looks quite good too. He's makes a good Boy George - but you can't see what he really looks like because he's got tons of make up on. Good bone structure and good acting too! I just turned the TV on and saw it, just started about 5 minutes ago on BBC1 and BBC HD.

And let me agree with Loisada who agreed with me. I know I said I was gonna shut up about this, but truth is, I'm really worried about this. Chances are everything will be just fine, but it's that one chance of something going wrong that frightens me.
I'm picturing thousands of people (for the most part, women and girls) camped out at night in one of the most dangerous areas, not only in Los Angeles, but in this entire country. A frighening, crime ridden, gang central hang out.
I would highly recommend that you leave your purses behind and carry fanny packs with your cash and credit cards inside and conceal it underneath your shirts. And don't wear any expensive jewelrey or anything that even looks like it might be expensive. It also wouldn't hurt to carry some mace with you. And there may be some places to eat around there, but enough to accomodate thousands at a time? Here's what I think. If Summit is really going to do this they MUST;
* pay for enough 24 hour security to assure their fans safety (and they'd have to pay for it because the city of Los Angeles will not. With the budget crisis, they cannot afford it nor should they have to. This is Summit's baby)
* provide enough porta potties (or something) for thousands of people
* have catering trucks or something to feed the crowd (and the food wouldn't be free, you'd have to pay for it)
Tell you what I'm gonna do. I can't do it this weekend, but next, I'm gonna get me a big ol' baseball bat and I'm go over there and get the lay of the land. I'm going to check this place out and try to talk to security and see if I can get a handle on this. And if I don't get the responses I want, I'll tell them what I think needs to be done (and the potential ramifications of such if they don't) and I would highly recommend that we all bombard Summit with these requests;
* 24 hour security with the fans placed in a cordoned off area
* bathroom facilities
* catering facilities
And the reason I think having some kind of provided food services nearby is important, is because even during the day, you don't want to go wandering around that area.
Give me a week and maybe I'll know a bit a more. I just want everyone safe and I fear that to that crime ridden, drug infested area, a huge group of women and girls sleeping unattended on the sidewalk, is just asking for trouble.
And just so you know. This isn't about money for Summit. This is a premiere and they'll make no money here. This is about 'prestige.' That their tween sensation franchise is going to open a film festival. And the festival wants it because it will bring attention to them. And that's all fine and good. But there is the possibility that a fan could get caught in the crossfire. And even one fan being hurt in anyway, is one fan too many.
I'll let you guys know next week what I find out. Unless Summit issues a statement beforehand, assuring that security and facilities will be provided.

This all soudns very scary to me, the location for the premeire. I would have thought Summit valued the fans. Are they not aware of dangers in that location? I mean, there are teens who camp out for this sort of thing, and parents seem to be oblivous as to where their children are, or are just allowing them. Sheesh!

And for those who think he's like a young Rob in GOF. Absolutely NOT. Cedric, there was the sex god in the making. You could see it so clearly there. Lying dead with Harry bending over his body, Cedric was sexier than anything breathing today. And he was only 18(?) then.
When I saw ROb in GoF, I just thought--what a beautiful boy. No one in the HP series, nor anything I had ever seen, lit a candle near himself.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound harsh, regarding this guy's looks. He didn't make the comparison, so, not his fault and what a number of you have said is true, that is, it is early to make comparisons to Rob.
And bone structure is only one thing. Rob is this complete and completely hot package and it'll be another century before they find another potion that powerful.
Oh, and regarding the dangerous venue for the opening of Eclipse. This irresponsibility is downright criminal! If someone gets hurt Summit should get sued. The more I know about this company the less I like it.
Something on another thread about Edward's looks in the 3 films and how CH knew, she damn well knew how to photograph him because she's a woman and that's why it should be a female director. That's been my refrain from the beginning. Don't get me started. Okay, I've gotten myself started. Oh well.

It's a Brit/UK thing - because they're promoting his TV programme and he made a great debut. It was a really entertaining and he was brilliant.
He had several gay kisses which were really tender and natural. When straight actors do a gay kissing scene it can be hard to watch if they look uncomfortable. Amazing performance from a 17 y/o. Really impressed.

A newbie here - but love this blog - I am English and I have to agree with Totally Robbed. Uk press making a big thing over Douglas Booth because he's been promoting his new drama Worried abouth The Boy.
The reason he is being compared to Rob is simple - similar background: White Middle class Londoner, Ex Model turned actor, pretty, cut glass english accent and about the same age as Rob when he started out. Looks wise he has the cheekbones - but not in the same league as Rob. He is however, more than a pretty face and has garnered some very good reviews for "Boy". Having seen it I,m pretty impressed with him, he can definately act - unlike some other pretty "model/actors"- don't forget he is very young!! He certainly doesn't have the charisma that Rob had/has! But I think we'll be seeing a lot more of him - and I,m sure as he said, he is flattered to be compared to Rob, it won't do his career any harm - but I don't think he is riding on anyone's coat tails - that's just the Media!
