"Breaking Dawn" Filming In Louisiana?

"Breaking Dawn" Filming In Louisiana?

Remember this is only a rumour.

From Nola.com

Two new developments arrive this morning related to the whisperings that Summit Entertainment is considering shooting the next film in the "Twilight" series (which may actually be two films) somewhere in Louisiana.

One of them doesn't say a whole lot. The other, however, seems to be significantly more telling as to exactly how serious Summit Entertainment is about moving the production here.

First, Summit this morning (Monday, May 17) responded to my inquiry of last week for comment on the rumors, first reported in a story in The Hollywood Reporter that relied on an unnamed source for its inside information.

he studio's statement came a few days too late for my story -- which ran in Saturday's editions of The Times-Picayune -- and it was unsuprisingly vague. Here's it is, in its entirety: "No details have been confirmed regarding 'Breaking Dawn' aside from the fact that Bill Condon will be directing."

Insert shrug here.

The second, more telling, development comes in the form of incorporation papers filed last week with the Louisiana Secretary of State's office by an agent for Summit and establishing a new corporate entity called "TSBD LOUISIANA, L.L.C." -- which would seem to stand for "Twilight: Saga Breaking Dawn."

Of course, filing incorporation papers is a long way from booking soundstages and crewing up -- but as early signs go, it's a good one that there might be truth to these rumors.

"Twilight: Breaking Dawn" would be based on the fourth book in the popular vampire-romance series, and there has been talk that it could be broken into two movies. Summit is hoping to beging production this fall.

Thanks to Laura (who will be one happy lady if this is true) for the tip!

i think that Vancouver is not safe for the actors and production anymore, the papazz already know where they are there. So i think it's nice they are moving to Louisiana.
But what i want to know is if there is a little possibility that they will shoot the honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro like it is in the book, with that i would be VERY happy.

Haystackhair said...

I would think they would use Louisiana as a sub for Rio? Hot and tropical type place? The rest might go back to Vancouver.

maaahtwi4ever said...

damn! I really wish they would come to Brazil!! i need Robert here!!

I'm pretty sure Louisiana wil just be used as a sub for Rio. There isn't much here that can be made to look like Forks, WA.

However, we do have some locations that could make for kick ass honeymoon scenes.

noisefaidaus said...

@maiaralimax Louisiana isn't going to be any better for them papazz wise.
Perhaps this location will be used for just Rio and Isle Esme. Who knows, guess it's wait and see.

Sure as hell would be funny to see snow on the ground for the big Voturi meet and greet with the trees dripping Spanish moss LOL!
But a fake winter could be supplied, perhaps better then freezing there asses off in Vancouver British Columbia.

My wife and I sat down and started cataloging what we thought were essential scenes in BD Part I, depending on where the break point is. We were trying to envision what scenes would be unaffected by location.

Personally I think the management at Summit has taken up smoking crack. The terrain is wrong, the flora and fauna are wrong, the climate is wrong, and the buildings are wrong. What is this to be? Twilight on the Bayou? Crawfish etou-Vampire? Cajun Werewolves? (shrugs) Oh well, they'll do what they do, and Rob and Kris can sneak off to the French Quarter during any down-time.

(chuckles) Maybe they'll shoot around Mardi Gras and the paps will bag some shots of the ladies flashing for beads? (flushes red) Ooops! Did that come out of *my* mouth?

Oh I some much want to say my boyfriend and I sat down cataloging what we thought were essential scenes in BD Part I,
Rick you wife is one lucky lady. Welcome on board.

TwiHusband said...

dina - It sounds like your boyfriend is lacking essential survival skills. (grins)

To quote my late father..."If you fight and she cries, you're wrong. If you fight and she doesn't cry, you're still wrong. It will just take longer for the consequences to arrive."

Here's another quote I like by the late Robert Heinlein - "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea."

(grinning)

I don't suppose we can blame your guy though. I've *always* been a romantic sap. My man card is constantly in danger of being pulled by the Man Police. ;-) My wife dislikes my Edward-like habit of watching her sleep. I can also be high-handed occasionally. LoL It wasn't that long ago I was being a jerk about something inconsequential and she put me in my place with a well-timed, "Alright, EDWARD!"

Rick, I hope you keep jumping in with the comments, they're insightful and hilarious! Don't worry about your man card, you and my husband can get together and create a new renaissance one for men who care about the things that fascinate their women.

Psst, don't tell, but my husband is an officer and he and his partner are both closet Twilight and Rob & Kristen fans (insert giggle). My hubby gets me all the Rob and Edward stuff I want, and his partner created an awesome media room centered on Twilight for his wife (or so he claims). Oprah wasn't exaggerating when she said that this saga has reignited or changed many relationships.

Hubby watched the Oprah show with me and said that Rob spent most of the show making googly eyes at Kristen. He said that they may not be saying or admitting anything, but they're not hiding much, either...and I'll take his profiling skills over gossipy naysayers anyday.

To say that I am bummed they're not coming back to Portland is an understatement....

I know they can do magic with locations, but Forks in LA? I don't see how that's possible....most of the book takes place indoors, but the outside scenes are pretty a la Forks...leaping over the river, flying through the trees , the clearing for the big non-battle...hmmmm..

Guess we'll just have to wait & see...

Rick you're wife is a lucky gal for sure....I can't even get my kids to understand this...

GuilChris said...

I am so excited about this news!!! I'm asking the same questions as some of you. Our trees are not even close to Forks trees. But Hollywood magic can make it happen.

I for one will find them in Louisiana!! I LOVE this state and I LOVE the Cajun people. I hope they can fall in love with the wonderful people who call Louisiana home.

GuilChris said...

@Laura

Where are you from in the State of Louisiana?

I'm from Cajun country...around Lafayette.

solas said...

I haven't read the book for a while, but didn't Alice and jasper go south looking for friends to send up to help the Cullens? Thos esecenes, plus as some of you have noted, the Rio, Isle Esme, and perhaps the Amazon jungle scenes, might be doable in LOuisana, and have Vancouver for the Forks scenes.

RPLover said...

ok, first LMAO @ Rick! your comments are great, I agree your wife is a lucky gal. :)

Hubbs and I spent a week in New Orleans for our honeymoon and I LOVE it there, but I just can't see them filming the whole movie there. Like others have said, I'm guessing that if this turns out to be true it will be for the more tropical locations that they need. I'd bet that they'll be heading north for the Forks footage.

Hang in there, RPG! :o)

@ilsentagleweb,

Taking note of your hubby's profiling skill, "they may not be saying or admitting anything, but they are not hiding much either"... LOL

In some ways, I think their body language is staking claim on each other subtlely...

Rick?

You a Heinlein fan? Me too. He wrote my favorite book of all time.

The more you keep talking, the more I like ya.

Keep talking.

TwiHusband said...

I could see them splitting time between the south and the north, but as far as I'm concerned, there are scenes that need to be shot in the Pacific Northwest.

Now there are a couple of advantages to being someplace warm. It's easier on the wolves. The other is that in the not-battle, you don't have a hundred-plus people standing around a freezing ass cold field between takes.

The drawbacks? The bugs. Mosquitoes that could fly off with you are the least of it. My step-son was in the USMC and patrolled the Big Easy post-Katrina. He got bitten by a black widow. From his description, I don't recommend it.

Nikola6 - Oh yeah, Heinlein, Asimov, Foster, Hogan, Piper, Dickson, Tolkien...all the bigs and not so bigs. I've been reading science fiction and fantasy for 40 years. My library is...too big. You should try David Brin. His Uplift books, or the stand alone "The Practice Effect". Or Randall Garrett and Vicki Ann Heydron's "Gandalara Cycle". My latest thing was Harry Turtledove's alternate history series, "The Great War".

I can say with few exceptions that I've always loved SF and fantasy. Two notable exceptions being the Blade books and then Gor books. Both were creepy and misogynistic.

So, what was your fave of Heinlein's??

Rick

solas said...

But didn't the unbattle take place after a big snow, with snow on the ground?

TwiHusband said...

solas - I don't know about big snow, but yeah, there's supposed to be snow on the ground. However, there are so many ways to fake that in a warm environment it isn't funny.

Two examples spring to mind.

I'm a West Wing fan. During the last few seasons there was an urban scene that was supposed to be in New Hampshire in winter. It was shot outdoors in Burbank in summer with some fake snow laying around and some heavy clothing on the actors.

In the HBO series "Band of Brothers" the winter forest scenes in the Bastogne episode were shot entirely indoors in a giant warehouse, with fake snow and fake trees. You would have sworn they were outdoors in freezing weather.

It's amazing what they can do with enough money.

ok off topic here....

i dont imagine they will dump vancouver altogether, they've pretty much gotta have big timber country for alot of the film....
and they dont want portland for some stupid reason...

but i am glad to hear that they are trying to shoot some of it here...
IT REALLY TICKS ME OFF, that in this economy, our companies in america, keep sending our work overseas!
yeah thats right, why not help our own people with the work that goes on, filming a movie? not only does the crew bring money to our people but, the local communities have an influx of money in the months of filming.
no offense but the film is about a town in america, so why give the money to canada?
wheeewwwwww had to say it...

Marna said...

I would think that if they have to create entire sections of Forks in a sound stage somewhere in Louisiana, it would turn out to be more expensive than just going to Vancover or Portland. Plus, there are crews & actors in Portland & Vancover who have already worked on the films, so they would have to start from scratch finding people in LA. I can see LA for the exotic stuff, but it seems like THAT would be what you would put on a sound stage. But if they're not going to LA, what's the new company for?

kittycatwelch said...

I would so Love them to film TSBD Here!!! Louisiana has Many locations that could pass as forks...Louisiana has many Hidden Beauty's..I bet rob and Kristen would Have A Blast in New Orleans...I could show them around lol!

Belladonna said...

Back at you, RPattz for Dummies,,, great name, by the way.

I agree with you,,, Forks (and a lot of Washington state) has had a major resurgence with tourism which helped our ailing economy.... all of our film companies should consider staying within the U.S. as much as possible. We can all use some of the revenue they will bring in, and the following tourist following afterwards.

This would be a good move for Summit's public relations (who might be smoking crack as suggested Rick, I think) and also help their not so nice public image. Yeah, they are a business, but they have made a huge fortune off of Twilight so far,,, why not bring some of it back to the U.S. rather than spend it in Canada or elsewhere?

Just a thought, but we do have some great forests here in America, and some perfect beaches, tropical rain forests and even snow year 'round in some places. Louisiana is a good start for some of the filming, hopefully the rest will be done in the U.S. too.

Remember the old slogan: "See America First" Summit could use a reminder that they should spend in America first too.
