"Twilight: New Moon" director Chris Weitz talked exclusively with The Dish Rag about Robert Pattinson's noticeably more relaxed interview skills on his recent New York media tour for "Remember Me."
The actor wowed NY talk show hosts with his off-the-cuff amusing remarks about how sexy Betty White is on "The View," telling the "Today Show" that he offered to do a nude photo shoot for Details, revisiting his lady parts allergy, even good-naturedly climbing up a tree for a "Bothered" video with Jimmy Fallon. (Kate: Yeap these interviews will go down in Rob History)
The guy is becoming a younger, wittier, even more self-deprecating George Clooney.
(Kate: Great Description)
"I think that he is probably happy to to be talking about a non-vampire role, because he's so much more than that," Weitz reveals during our chat about the cool extras in the upcoming "New Moon" DVD, coming out on Mar. 20. (Much more on that later!) (Kate: Ooh)

You're quite right Kate! I still heart Chris Weitz hard.
And I quite like the comparison to George Clooney. Rob is so very much more than EC.
Yay, the ripped jacket! Yes, Rob is very charming and witty.
No matter what this man says, i will always dislike him with a vengeance and will never forgive him for destroying every thing Rob build up in Twilight and for playing with his career.
He specifically made all the wrong choices, ALL OF THEM, for Rob's Edward- be it the choice of old-man tweed fabric suit with fugly brown shoes, to old man make-up, to rushing ALL his scenes, to choosing the lamest non-exciting scenes for the movie while he had the footage of better scene-but he just.did not.use them!!
And he has not given up still! The Bella/Jacob scene will the most steamy in Eclipse according to him-great!!
IMO, the man is most probably a stinger scorpion by zodiac-calm and nice and softly joking on the surface and holding a grudge inside. He must have misunderstood some Rob humor and held it against him.
@annaz.. What movie are you taking about? New Moon?
Chris Weitz done an incredible job on this movie which is, with Breaking Dawn, the most difficult one to put on screen...
We got more Edward in the movie than in the book... with a beautiful picture, the colours...
The only thing that was really horrible on this movie, and it's not Chris's fault, is the soundtrack... The only tracks that fit the movie are the ones of Alexandre Desplat.
The studios do what they want afterwards. They changed the editor on Eclipse, they even didn't keep a track that Muse just composed for it... Money, money, money...
But Chris is a great director... and his movie is a real movie not a movie that was put together thanks to a good editing...
Exactly, Rob is more than Edwar Cullen, is more than a character, he´s a profesional, a good profesional who loves that he´s doing.
I think, Rob´s cant wait ti finish BREAKING DOWN and start a new and amazing step.
Rob, honey, you're sleeve's's ripped. Take off your clothes ...um ...uh... your JACKET and let me sew it for you...
ohh god thats right rob şs much more than edward cullan he has a diffrent world in his inside thats why I love him he is good at everything that he does
I love how all of these big wigs rave about Rob. Shows how special our boy really is.
ITA, on the GC compliment!!! Woot!
Way to rock, Rob! ; )
LOL. Good try, Ellie!
I hope there's a directors cut on this DVD... I kinda agree with Annaz
Chris messed up the Bella bedroom scene where she thought she was dreaming and Edward was a hallucination. I was looking forward to that and it didn't happen. It made me laugh so hard when I read it, Unbelievable that it never got into the screen play!!! GRRRRRRRR
That was like no tent scene in Eclipse!
Chris as a person was great. He respects the cast, did a better directing job than Catherine, it showed, but great parts were missing from the movie. 2.5 hours is NOT long for a movie at all. over 3 hours is long. There was plenty of room to add some favorite parts to it yet.
annaz, you are of course entitled to your opinion, but I completely disagree with you. :)
annaz~I have to strongly disagree with you as well. I thought new moon was a a million times better than twilight. The reason Robward was wearing that jacket was because of the birthday party. And you have to remember that in theory he is old fashioned... I thought it totally fit. The only complaint I have about New Moon was everything after Alice and Bella flew to Italy. I did like the Voltari fight scene and the Voltari, but feel it was too rushed and would have loved to at least see some from the book where they waited in the lobby til nightfall, lwhere Bella was stiing on his lap and ....where Bella asked about the human receptionist and wondered why she wanted to become one of them. I think that would show at least to people who haven't read the books that Bella did not think of the Cullens in that way and show more of a reason why she wanted to become a vampire. But up intill then I thought it was really good. The look of it, the scenes with Victoria, the CGI wolves. The incorporation of Harry's death more in the story with Victoria. I thought it made Twilight look like a film made by a bunch of high school students..which I thought in the first place anyways.
Sorry ladies, disagree, I think Rob was dressed fabulously in Twilight, not so much in New Moon. Clothes were too old looking for him but guess they were appropriate for a Dr's son? Thought the girls clothes looked better in New Moon.
Just didn't care for Rob in the tweeds and overcoat. His casual look in Twilight was better. But that is my opinion.
I know I am not very sophisticated when it comes to movies, etc, so take this in context of who I am. I liked New Moon but felt some of the best scenes were either rushed or not there, and i think it is more the scrpt than the direction. I liked what weitz did in most areas. But then, i also love the soundtrack.
As for the topic of Weitz' comments: Rob did seem much calmer in this round with the media, but it was shorter and less dmeanding than the NewMoon tour. He apears much more mature than previously--either he is starting to grasp and handle the clamour, or he had developed better coping mechanisms, or he is getting better at masking his terror and discomfort.
As for comparisons-- IMHO, he is already a far better actor than George Clooney.
to clarify... I loved how rob was dressed in Twilight. I also felt that in New Moon...he wore the tweed jacket because of the birthday party. I do think it made him look older... My main comment was about how I felt chris weiz did a MUCH better job with nm than CH did with twilight
Rob...ripped jacket??? lol
Agree Annaz and Nancy...did not care for NM clothing or soundtrack. He's a really good guy with wonderful directing skills, but just could not make NM work for me. He said he added various parts in the movie to make scenes fit, so why not get involved with the Bella/Edward romance as well. Slade seems to have the right formula, but the jury is still out until June (or trailers)! :)
I like these things that Chris Weitz is saying about Robert, but I am glad he did not direct Eclipse and won't be directing Breaking Dawn. I think he but way too much focus on Jacob at the expense of the Bella/Edward love story that drew us into the saga to begin with. If he didn't realize that it is Edward and Bella that brought throngs into the theater for the second installment of the series and not Jacob Black, he didn't read the books very thoroughly or listen to the fans at all.
I do agree with Annaz and Nancy. Like you say, we are all entitled to our opinion. I watched Twilight and then read all four books. It was Twilight that drew me in. It was Edward and Bella and this fantastic love story that I become invested in and particularly Rob Pattinson's portrayal of Edward. I saw the movie first so only had Rob in my head when I read the books. I was so excited to see New Moon and was very disappointed. In particular I was very disappointed that the last chapters of the book after the Volturi were cut very short. It was almost like they ran out of time or money. Some of the important dialog between Edward and Bella was deleted or not used at all. I don't know if this was the director's decision or the screen writer's focus. Scenes between Jacob and Bella were lengthened and dialog added, even the "I love you Jake" in the end before he runs into the woods. She didn't say that in the book. I did not like New Moon nearly as much as Twilight. I hated Edward's make up. Can't imagine that he could walk high school halls like that without everyone suspecting that he is a vampire. It was much less heavy handed in Twilight. I really hope they do a better job with Eclipse and return the focus to Bella and Edward. Even if it is the proverbial triangle and Bella has to chose, there should never be doubt that Edward is the love of her life, and she the love of his. I think New Moon was meant to promote Taylor Lautner's career.
