Robert Pattinson and Remember Me - What Are The Numbers?

So, five days in, how is Remember Me really doing? We've heard the stories about it bombing (it hasn't), we've read the terrible reviews (not quite getting it?) and we've seen the great reviews (they got it!) - and we've all seen the spammers online spoiling the end for RM virgins.

A few things to put into perspective - out of all the movies released on 3/12 - or previously released and still in the running; Remember Me debuted in the fewest amount of theaters on release day - over 600 less than "She's Out of My League" and almost 800 less than "Green Zone". "Shutter Island" which has been out for a few weeks even had over 1100 more. Yet - it still broke the weekend at #4 and remains steady at #5. In fact yesterday (3/16) it jumped 10.7%

The interview we posted earlier today with Will Fetters (HERE) makes it painfully obvious that a lot of the critic's just didn't get it. Didn't get what should have been taken away after watching the film. The chart above shows that the people who mattered - the film's viewership - did get it.

Sure - you can't please everyone - but for a film of this genre to be pushing $10 million on it's 5th day of release - we think Will, Allen, Rob and the rest of the cast and crew, should be very proud.

We are :-)

RM up step by step and sure will up more. And sure in the rest of the world will have more benefits and maybe more than in the US.

it´s clear that it´s impossible compare the movie with "Alice in wonderland", always is difficult for a movie compit with Johnny Depp and Tim Burton.

I´d like to know the real numbers of box office if RM will have the same theatres than the others movies. If we compare I think it´s good for RM, the movie hasn´t got the same budget. Only in fews days they´ll recover the budget, it´s fantastic.

And in my opinion the most important it´s not the box office, how many movies don´t work and are beautiful movies and very good critics?? We know that the people, generally, want to see easy movies, accion movies or romantics with lovely end movies. And generaly we can see movies with high box office and are shit movies.

I´m very proud of Rob and the critics saw that he´s not only Edward and he can act everything.

Is Robert just 'Edward' to the Twilight fans? I am not too big on Twilight Saga (exception is the Twilight). I am just a Robert Pattinson fan.

Cant wait to see the figures rise when its released here in the UK 2nd April, id say it will be significant!

How come the domestic gross is the same as the worldwide gross? It doesn't seem to include the numbers from the other countries where Remember Me was released last week (including Australia)...

Lions for Lambs (Cruise, Streep, Redford) only made $6.3M on its opening week-end and less than $20M altogether; Rendition (Jake, Reese) only made total of $9.5M. So I don't know what the big commotion about Remember Me's earning on its first week.
Jennifer & Gerald's film will make a killing this week-end probably because the two stars had been hyped since they were shooting the movie (and of course these are the kind of romantic film a lot wants to see). Can't really hype Robert and Emilie because of Kristen and Bella :-) :-)

I guess this comment is directed at nikola6 or anyone else who has a knowledge of the movie industry. If RM made 8.09m at the weekend, factor in multiple viewings and the odd reluctant male then the actual no. of people viewing was probably 600,000.

My question is where did everyone else go and why did the nos drop on RM Saturday? Does Rob only have that many female fans in the US? Where are all the females who were screaming both inside and outside the talk shows and at the premiere?

Are people that shallow that they only see him as Edward? would the movie have attracted a different audience if it had been rated R?

Having made 8.09m how does he stand in Hollywood as a bankable movie star? do they still see him as an A lister?

I saw NM 8 times, I've never done that for any other movie and I will try to organise a group to see RM when it opens in Ireland. It just saddens me to think that all this hype may amount to nothing.

to noel, I don't think it's as much about people only being edward fans as it is the movie seems to be being misunderstood, and people are prejudging it without giving it a chance. With that said some people are only fans of the saga and that is their prerogative.

I'd like to see the numbers in about a month when it is released worldwide. I think it will be a sleeper hit.

A few friends of mine wanted to watch it first before letting their young daughters watch it. They wanted to be sure of the love scenes and ending (which were both done beautifully).

I'm already looking forward to the DVD. I saw an interview where Rob said he was going to record the commentary soon. Please someone tell me I wasn't hearing things.

A special request please:

To all the technically talented ladies who make the banners and wallpapers- please make one soon of Rob from his pictures from last night's London premiere. He looked amazing! Gray suit jacket and the hair...I couldn't comment because all I did was stare. He looked so relaxed and happy.

@Athena The domestic gross and the worldwide gross are identical for the moment because the Box Office Mojo Web site has not updated the worldwide gross yet, maybe because they don't have the accurate numbers yet. I've noticed they're usually slower to post the wordlwide numbers too as a rule.

Its too early to say the movie is bombed.... slowly but surely RM will taste the sweetest fruit of success!

This was originally supposed to be a small, "art house" film based on budget, and subject matter. When Twi exploded and Rob became who he is now (extremely famous), people started putting all kinds of expectations on him and the movie. The budget was $16 million, which it will definitely make back, so that in itself is a success.
What bothers me is that the Twilight fans didn't come out in mass. Will it be the same for The Runaways, I guess we'll have to wait and see. It boggles my mind that these girls can't see past Edward or Bella.
I think the word of mouth and Facebook and Twitter are pushing the sales of this movie, so fingers crossed, it has a good weekend at the box office and critics and stupid bloggers like that scum bag Perez can STFU.

OH and I am so proud of Rob and this movie and have seen it 5 times already and plan to see it again this weekend.

For the ladies in the UK and the rest of the world who haven't seen it, take everyone you know to the cinema.

So very proud of Rob and everyone really....Remember Me is truly special....hopefully people catch on and love it as much as we all do!
@ the worldwide gross...maybe they don't take that into consideration until it's opened everywhere it's supposed to. It's just a thought, don't really know. In any case, it's doing better here than the critics and the media would have us believe...conspiracy anyone?

WhyIstheRumAlwaysGone said...

@CL So true - I guess that most Twilight fans, at least the youngest, will not be particularly interested in non-Twilight films, including the Runaways. They want Edward and Bella, period.

well we are here for rob said it before we robsessed and not twisessed
we love Robert and all the work he does not Edward

so we are proud of our Rob :)

...its definitely the word of mouth, i've also been recommending this film to everyone I know.
This just proves that more and more people get what this movie is all about!

Rob seemed shocked at the UK premier of Remember Me. He thought it was going to be shown on the smaller cinima and seemed thrilled it was at the bigger cinima. He said the movie has gone from little to big, more than what he had hoped for. He rocked out at the after party, looks pretty tipsy. Going again Friday for the fourth time.Movie still in my mind.

Maybe some of it is because of the limited amount of theaters it is being shown at. I had to drive an hour and a half to see it. Would love to see it again but RL rears its ugly head and haven't been able to go back. I have been telling everyone I see to go see it. Some of the critics must be dense to not get this film. I really don't understand that. Loved the film.. Loved Rob...amazing job...loved the rest of the cast... Best film I have seen in a long time

I predict that this movie will pick up more steam, not only from the positive word of mouth, but also from the International market that will love it...
The critics and US media outlets just proved how immature and incapable they are of looking at movies/actors without reducing them to some sort of "formula." But people who have actually seen the movie love it. Most of the people in the theatre with me sat silent through all of the credits and left slowly. It was obvious that people were moved by the film... It's a reflective movie, one that has to sit and simmer with people - not one that can be devoured immediately.
