New Moon & Twilight Heartthrob Robert Pattinson - Aging Well?

Well I think he's aging just fine and I'm not baised at all!(well maybe i am, a bit)
:-)

From National Ledger

British actor Robert Pattinson rules the gossip pages with his 'secret' romance with girlfriend, US actress Kristen Stewart and dominates the box office with hits like New Moon (now on DVD) and Twilight.

But how is he aging? Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith explore it in 'the Hollywood Exclusive writing, "Wonder what "Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson will look like at 93?

So do the casting forces on "Water for Elephants," who've been checking out old guys to play the aged version of Pattinson's character in the big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed Sara Gruen historical novel."

"The story is formed by his reminiscences of dropping out of Cornell veterinary school and joining the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth during the 1930s Great Depression -- encountering a brutal, mentally unbalanced trainer (Christoph Waltz, fresh off his "Inglourious Basterds" Oscar win) and his beautiful, mistreated wife (Reese Witherspoon). Another key bad guy still has to be cast as well. Production's set for May 22."

Production is set for 22nd May?
I know that he likes to keep busy, but bloody hell! When is he going to have some time off? Don't want him to get all stressed...

I recently read Water For Elephants - a very unusual and moving story - can't wait to see Rob playing the part of Jacob in this ....

Maybe we can wait til he's out of his twenties before we start talking about him aging well...
as if he wouldn't...good Lord, that jaw...those eyes...even if he loses that gorgeous hair..at any age this man will be beautiful inside and out....

Good morning/afternoon..
d67, I totally agree with you about Rob, he will be beautiful inside and out at any age!!
I do think he could have handled the old character role and would have been good opportunity for him to experience even more with his acting ability! It's too bad, just to get less Rob time on the screen.. even as an old man.

Fifty, He is keeping so busy uh? and WFE production right after his birthday!!! He says he likes keeping busy, so that is good as long as he gets his zzzz's :):)

Thanks Annie, for the link.

So glad that there are journalists that have positive things to say and are not just jumping on the negative bandwagon.

@annie

your comment contains a huge spoiler of RM. Could you please put a SPOILER ALERT on it?? Thanks.

Now I know how RM ends and I wish I didn't since I haven't seen it yet...

I'm so sorry Babs. I didn't realize it had that spoiler alert.
I don't see a way to edit the comment to add SPOILER ALERT or to delete it. Again I'm so sorry.

I was so happy to see a comment from an unbiased journalist.

Please if any of the administrators are reading this can you please adjust the comment to reflect the spoiler.

@Annie Thanks for your comments you just saved me a ton of typing!! You are 100% right.
Love Rob and Kristen together and apart.
When I pay to see a movie that their in I go to be entertained, and I hope enjoy the movie, so far neither of them has disappointed me.

Don't t hey have some kind of aging program with which you can see how a person will look at various ages? I would love to see Rob's possibilities at various ages.
It would have been a good exercise for himself to play the aged part as well, but I don't think he would like the sensation of all what is needed, nor someone fretting over himself putting it all on and taking it off for hours everyday.

@rpg: Well, Jacob is in nearly every scene so Rob wouldn’t get a break at all, and it would be hard to work around him – except for 2nd unit stuff. Also, Old Jacob only ‘bookends’ the film, and I think the nursing home scenes may have been cut. As you say, a lot of work and time in the makeup chair for a small, even if significant, amount of screen time. I think Rob will have his hands full working with ‘Rosie’ and the menagerie, not to mention learning a little Polish…and he'll have to master the modesty patch this time...;)

@Kate: Thank you!
@Babs and others: I found the trash can and deleted my comment with the link to the article.
Again, I'm so sorry. It wasn't my intention to spoil the ending for those who haven't seen RM as yet.

The article is interesting and shows that they are journalists with a fair amount of intelligence.
Article title: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: Daring Non -Twilight choices.

Be aware though, it does have spoilers.

I think Rob would have enought on his plate to play young Jacob. I'm sure he'd be able to pull it off sometime.

Selfish me says, 'give me young Robert'. Just bloody get an old actor to play old Jacob; there is plenty of talent out there.

If they didn't, Robert, yes, would be in that make-up/prosthetics chair all day and he wouldn't catch a break because he'd be in almost every scene.

I seem to remember a movie from when i was a kid, where Dustin HOffman did the old man role as well as the younger man, in Little Big Man, or am I not remembernig correctly?

Netra2121 said...

No harm or foul Annie I kinda figured something along those lines but anyways....

Solas I don't know about the dustin hoffman movie but I mean Brad pitt did it in the curious case of benjamin button

solas said...

I haven't seen that yet, Netra, but I have seen commercials/trailers. And didn't they use CGI for that? Or did they put all the junk on Brad and then use CGI only to stick the aged face on a baby?

Netra2121 said...

@ Solas I dunno maybe it was CGI I haven't seen it either lol

jessegirl said...

Yes, Solas, they did age Dustin Hoffman many, many years in Little Big Man, way before CGIs time, of course.
I still want my young Robert. *whines immaturely*
Like all of us, he'll age, but please not yet.
