Did you think Robert Pattinson was the only cute Brit who shies away from interviews? Last week in New York we caught up with singer/songwriter Bobby Long, a Twilight soundtrack crooner, longtime friend of Robert Pattinson and member of the ever-higher-profile "Brit Pack" that also includes actors/musicians/longtime Pattinson mates Tom Sturridge, Sam Bradley and Marcus Foster. Bobby Long is preparing to release his first studio album this summer, and if it's anything like he says it is, then you want to start downloading Bobby Long now.
Bobby Long's "Let Me Sign" for Twilight and "Who Have You Been Loving?" from his first album Dirty Pond Songs have put him on the map in mainstream music and in front of, yep, gaggles of female audiences who are screaming to ride the British boy bandwagon. In the basement of New York's famed Mercury Lounge, we thought Bobby Long couldn't get any more candid...until he climbed onstage.
LimeLife: I know you're good friends with Robert Pattinson, and two weeks ago he was jokingly shouting your name for Marcus Foster to play some Bobby Long.
Bobby Long: The funniest thing about that right, is just that...it's just a few mates joking around. All that was is just Rob enjoying himself at his mate's show, right. Like, before my show, a mutual friend will shout out, "Play a Marcus Foster song" or "Play a Sam Bradley song" or something...like, "Play a song by Cher."
(More laughter erupts around the Mercury Lounge basement.)
Bobby Long: It's just winding each other up. It's just a friendly thing. And then Rob's getting criticized for it.
LimeLife: I don't think it was criticism. It was just a fun story when we reported on it.
Bobby Long: But the comments on it! He hasn't been criticized by the media, but criticized by people. I read [one comment], it said, "He's a bastard." It's just like, "Oh, f*ck off." That kind of stuff is funny. I just laugh. It's something to show your nan, that's all it is, then you get back to your day job. It's just funny that someone reports that and sends it off, that someone spent 15 minutes of their life reporting it.

Saw him a few month ago, he was incredible shy and funny at the same time. Kept talking about the stuff his little nephew did to him. He seems very down to earth and sang some great music for us :-)
I had the funniest dream that Bobby was in the other night. Can't remember all the details but it was Something About Mary-esque, cos he was there...jizz on his face...LMAO. I actually can't look at him now without that image and much sniggering.
However I am a huge fan and can't wait for his new album!! I would LOVE to see him live, but I don't see him ever coming to Scotland and I very rarely venture south of the border lol

I was there at the Mercury Lounge!! Bobby is adorable indeed, and I just love his music.
He also seems to have elf ears like Rob, and I am now wondering if the rest of the Brit pack does as well; are they beyond the natural world?
Keely, he IS shy, in a humble way, yet so personable! Throughout the performance, he gives little stories or remarks, and seems to half embarrass/half smirk with confidence at himself! He is so delightful!

what I love most in Bobby, Sam, Marcus and Tom is that they are so protective with Rob. It is so hard, nowadays, finding friends like they are: good sense of humour, discreet and always taking care about each other.

OT, I just got back from buying the Borders (my 3rd) version of New Moon. It's not my fault, Borders gave me a 40% off coupon, & it was on sale & the took the 40%off the original price. They are obviously pushers, & I'm just a poor addict that can't help themselves because it's a disease. Or I have no self control. One of those.
One thing I thought was weird was that the extras were only on the regular version of the dvd. The Blu-Ray only had the standard extras. That really sucks. Luckily for me, the 1st 2 versions I bought were both Blu-Ray, but if this was the only version I bought, I would be really pissed off if I had to chose if I wanted Blu-Ray or the extras.

Well I've never seen a pic of Bobby Long before or heard his music, but this was a nice interiview. I wonder why some people would criticize Robert for being playful at Bobby's show? By the way the story about Robert is very cute.
I just have one question, I thought "Let Me Sign" was Robert's song, so why are they saying here that it's Bobby's song? I'm confused.

I think I'm getting a little addicted to fanfic ~ which can be good for my marriage, but not so sure about my work.
I'm beginning to read The Univ.of Ed.Masen ~ I'm a few chapters in it. The man is hot, but seems to be a little perv (?)... The photographs on the wall were weird... hum... I don't know.
Anyway, I married my 'Professor' and, in some ways, I'm totally identifying myself in the story...

Capitu, if you think MOTU is too long, you should check out Emancipation Proclamation, I don't think that story is EVER going to end, she just keeps writing, & writing, & writing.
I've never heard Bobby Long or Marcus Foster or seen Tom's films. I can't wait to get caught up on this. I think as long as Rob surrounds himself with this Brit pack that he will be okay with all the fame.

The Lyric is a theatre in Hammersmith, England. Tom did a play there earlier called "Punk Rock" - did very well. He and a fellow cast member were back to host the "Lounge" which is a club-style event with comedy, poetry, music etc. - combo of different acts.
