Two things are for certain:
(1) There is audio of Robert Pattinson discussing sex scenes in “Bel Ami.”
(2) He most assuredly did not grant the Daily Record an interview.
Here is what happened.
Yes, there’s audio of Pattinson, but he didn’t tell the Daily Record, “The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing.”
The full audio, recorded at a recent roundtable discussion with several journalists in London, has Pattinson saying that his character and Uma Thurman’s marry about two-thirds of the way into “Bel Ami,” and “the sex scenes with Uma… if they, if they work out how they are in the script… they’d be like kind of disturbing in a way.”
It’s important to note, though, that the printed comment alters the sequence and wording of Pattinson’s comments.
It’s equally important to Gossip Cop that Pattinson was not interviewed by the Daily Record, and the paper was not among the approved outlets at the roundtable.
When Gossip Cop asked about the circumstances surrounding the audio, one editor at the paper said he was “unaware” if the person who furnished the tab with the audio identified himself as a reporter for the Daily Record. And another editor said whether the writer “identified himself as representing the Daily Record” was “immaterial.”
But it’s not immaterial. Especially since the Daily Record wasn’t an approved media outlet.
The paper was able to print Pattinson’s words (while no other outlet at the roundtable did) because, not having been identified as a participant, the Daily Record did not abide by certain restrictions.
And since it was not an approved outlet, that’s why a Pattinson source told Gossip Cop - correctly – that the star “never spoke to the [Scottish] Daily Record.”
Even Pattinson, according to the source, didn’t know he was being taped by someone who was going to later supply the Daily Record with the (edited) quotes.
So, at the end of the day… yeah, Pattinson said some of what the paper claims — though not word for word, according to the audio — but he had absolutely no idea he was being “interviewed” by the Daily Record.

It really sucks that someone can misrepresent themselves & then print altered quotes. I wonder how they got into the roundtable in the first place, wasn't somebody supposed to be checking IDs?

These kind of journalists have no integrity, no professionalism and no class. Thank goodness for Gossip Cop...unfortunately, they're gonna have their hands full with Rob "news" for years to come...I hope stuff like this doesn't keep Rob from talking...
WEll he didn't really say anything bad- Uma's character is all about using her sex to get what she wants, and so is Rob's, so what is the big deal? Not that they should make shit up.

This does not surprise me, and yep to Cullen Lover. Even when he thinks he is in a relatively safe venue, he is misquoted.

It's funny how when it is Rob that is being maligned in this way by scum 'journalists', the mother bear in me comes out--and other women I'm guessing.
I'm not saying I don't object when other famous people are treated this way, just that...DON'T MESS WITH ROB!

No, it's certainly not immaterial, and obvious that the Record used another journalist's material and did not have a first-hand source. Altering and re-contexting quotes, happens all the time in the media, unfortunately. However, DR should not have released anything if the group interview was given with certain terms abiding.
I will be in the obvious minority, again, to say that GC could have checked with DR to see if they did have any evidence of an interview, as well as checking with Rob's reps. They called it a "complete fabrication." Well, it wasn't, and it hurts GC's credibility. I still would like to hear the audio clip, in any case.
I was about to say that unless I can watch hims speak on his behalf, I won't believe it. But, like print media, there are some mighty talented people out there who can alter a video and an audio clip to make them appear legitimate. It's really disheartening. I guess that's where faith in people comes in: just trust in what you know about someone. And as much as we want to believe that Rob is a friendly, intelligent, funny, and warm-hearted person, unless we know him personally, we really are basing our adoration on what he tells us. And I hope and hope that my faith in his character is warranted.
In other words, screw all the rag mags out there!

I would appreciate hearing exactly what was said, and then perhaps a reputable paper could compare the statements to those out of context, do a piece on poor 'journalism' if we even dare use the word for the Daily Record, expose the faults of taking statements out of context.
I would also appreciate a better watch kept on who can be in on these sessions.
