Robert Pattinson's Daily Record Interview - complete fabrication!

Thanks to GossipCop and their investigations we can reveal that the Daily Record 'interview' posted earlier today was in fact a non-interview...

Robert Pattinson “Disturbing” Sex Scenes Interview is Complete “Fabrication”

Any comments attributed to Robert Pattinson are going to get huge attention, especially with regards to the highly anticipated Bel Ami he’s making with Uma Thurman, and especially if outlets can throw in the word “sex.”

“The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing,” Pattinson is quoted as saying to The Daily Record. The comments were quickly (and not surprisingly) picked up everywhere. “[Thurman's character] kind of uses sex as a sort of weapon and my character thinks like an animal,” Pattinson supposedly adds.

Bel Ami is an adaptation of French writer Guy de Maupassant’s novel, in which Georges Duroy (Pattinson) is a social climbing journalist and playboy. As Gossip Cop confirmed last month, Christina Ricci has also signed on to the project.

Gossip Cop was told by a source close to Pattinson that the Daily Record interview is a “fabrication.”

The source adds, Pattinson “never spoke to the [Scottish] Daily Record.”

  4. lol I knew it! From the moment I read/skimmed that interview it seemed none legit to me. It just didn't really sound like Robert! He usually answers, and can handle any question thrown his way with humor, integrity and charm.

I only hoped for the part about "Braveheart" to be true, because I love that movie too, but alas it is not to be! lol

  6. @absolutlisen

Seem to be new, to me. Well, to me they are because I had never seen them before and the anterior photos in the slide show are from recent Jennifer Anniston birthday in St. Lucas.
Rob is so cute with denim jacket and beanie. He and Tom are so cute together.
    I love them both.

  13. Tsk, Mr. Fulton - so the scots refs were just too guid to be true! Hah.

Well, fabricated or no, I still say Rob is asking for way too much composure from the potential audience for Bel Ami. ;)

  14. I'll admit when I read that he was going to go at this like an "animal", I thought...okay. An interesting choice there Rob but not exactly like the character as written in the book (but who was I to argue with his choices?) I mean, Georges is a self-serving, son of a bitch, bastard, I'll give you that. But he isn't an animal. He isn't a rapist. He is a charmer, a seducer. Still, I don't think these scenes are going to be exactly what you'd call...tame.

Guess the rule of thumb should be before commenting on any interview with him, is to give it a couple of hours and see if it's refuted. Because so damn many of them are. Another rule of thumb? If it isn't in a legitimate magazine (Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Interview, GQ, etc.) or if you didn't hear him say it with his own mouth...take it all with a grain of salt.

I know all of this and have for years and still...I sometimes take the bait.

  15. Also...

I'm beginning to think that because this is such a sexually charged story, were going to be hearing all kinds of rumours and innuendo while it's being filmed. 'Cause let's face it. If you can get the words 'Pattinson' and 'sex' into the same sentence, well...it's gonna get some attention.

    One. Two. Three. Go.
    Let the horseshit fly!!!

  16. Nik: well, the 'animal' ref is actually in the script, but it's not how Georges describes himself, as I recall.

I do think some of scenes between Georges and Madeleine are difficult to play, particularly for a man, although his treatment of Mme Rousset may be harder for Rob to do.

Yeah, I think we'll have a lot of chatter about this movie, and a lot of tab fare, unfortunately. As you say "Pattinson and sex.."

  17. I'm actually surprised. How can they do that? That is outrageous to fabricate something that then finds it way to 115 other websites. It really didn't sound like something Rob would say.

  23. Hi there

I'm Iain Hepburn, digital editor at the Daily Record. We have been in touch with GossipCop and MTV following their comments on this story.

Had they bothered to approach us before running their 'dismissal', we would happily have provided confirmation of the veracity of the story.

We have done so to them today with an audio clip of the interview proving directly that not only was the interview not a fabrication, that it was accurate.

Likewise, had this website also bothered to get in touch with us, rather than taking the word of a third party, we could have done so.

I look forward to your retraction of your claims and apology, and trust you will give it the same prominence that you gave displayed the original, inaccurate piece.

  24. Hi, there, Mr. Hepburn. I’m not a moderator for this blog but I commented on this thread earlier and will certainly apologize for my jab at Mr. Fulton. Gossip Cop has seemed accurate in ‘debunking’ until this point, so the assumption was not surprising that they were correct in this case as well. However, your providing audio verification does change that assumption. Thanks for the post, and I hope we may be able to hear something from the audio clip as well.
