Im embarressed enough to admit I LOVED this mag as a teen. Till I noticed they rehashed the same thing over and over again with different stars. Then I lost interest. I think I was-14? when I figured this out..
Its pretty cheesy stuff in those mags-Its so not how people talk. "Hows ROb really?" -he's a nice guy. "whats RObs secret?" He likes to wear the same clothes over and over again. And doesnt shave. Seriously deep reporting-NOT.
@Siss-probably which waxing salon is merciful, thats what he would ask Kellan. That would come in handy if he had to run over if the role calls for it :)
*imatates Madea* Honey back in my day I be lickin the pages and stickin em on my wall. I was to po to buy tape and I jacked that mag. No one comes between me and Ole Roberto. Especially paying 4 bills.
I also remember buying Tigerbeat, and 16, etc. :-) I wonder if he is embarrassed having to do the interview for these magazines, or if they don't actually interview him and they just pull stuff from real interviews.
@484844407: Yes, some of us have seen these pics already. It was all over these blogs yesterday. I feel bad for him just standing there like any guy buying his underwear looking all innocent...and some asshole has to take a pic of him. So SAD! I'm sorry Robert.....really sorry about that for you!
I think these teen magazines are a sort of rite-of-passage, even if they are embarrassing. I used to buy every one that had ANY pics of Rick Springfield, even the tiny ones on the outside cover made it to my wall. I saw an interview with RS and he said he hated being labeled as a teen idol, since he wanted to be a rock star, but looking back he is thankful for it because now all the girls that bought those mags are the ladies filling the seats at his concerts. (me, included )
Rob appreciates his fans. He knows who is buying the movie tickets and DVDs.
One day (oh please let it be soon...although most likely not until Twilight has been put to bed) he'll lose the teen idol tag and they'll never put him in another one of these silly teen magazines again. Same thing with DiCaprio and Bloom. Their teenage audience grew up and that was that.
And I don't how embarrassing it is for him (unless he's confronted with it) as I doubt he gives it much day to day thought. Meaning, I think teen magazines are way down on his radar.
4848--in the ways I was raised and still live, we have some teachings: treat others the way you would like to be treated, and don't treat others the way you don't want to be treated. (And there are no caveats or exceptions eliminating 'famous' people from the running). I don't want to be photographed when i am eating. I don't want photos of myself buying undergarments, or various other things, and I don't want it announced--oooh-- solas was buying undies today. Even when I was relatively famous, and even now, a known figure in my community, I don't see that fame as license for others to discuss or even know about. Perhaps some of you have no problem with people knowing when, where and which kind of undergarments you buy (or don't). In that case, maybe you have to ask yourself about the person's feelings, if HE would appreciate that. And if the answer is no, or if the answer is you don't know him well enough, perhaps the best thing is to not look and not announce it to others. I know not everyone lives by the code that I love and live, so take the above as you will, as something to perhaps at least think about.
He doesn't sit down for interviews or photo shoots with any of these magazines, including the tabs (US, OK, Star, and even People, etc.) Only the legits; Vanity Fair, GQ, etc. with 'official' interviews and photo shoots (can't wait for him to grace the covers of Interview and Rolling Stone one day). Unfortunately...
Alot of people don't understand that. So he comes off looking like a fame whore because his face and and all of this recycled information is out there 24/7.
His ONLY official sit down magazine interviews that I'm aware he's done in since Twilight exploded are...
Entertainment Weekly (twice, although they've put him on several more covers) Rolling Stone (but not the cover) GQ Vanity Fair Harper's Bazar (with Kristen) the upcoming Details and the other one (can't remember which one)
So that's what? Eight in about a year and a half? Yet from the glut of all that's out there, it looks like he's sitting for interviews every week.
Perhaps he did sit for some of the teen mags when he began the first wave of publicity for Twilight BEFORE he became one of the biggest stars in the world. As I recall, Summit had him interviewing with ANYONE who had a tape recorder or sat him down in front of anyone with a microphone.
Not so much anymore. No ridiculous Hot Topic mall tour this last go round either and I'd like to see Summit try to send him to Wal-Mart again (at 5:30 am) to schill DVD's.
Once you reach a certain level of stardom, clout, power, whatever, they (the studios) can't whore you out as much as you begin to gain some control over the situation.
Certainly the only decent interviews are from the more reputable magazines (GQ, V, etc). From the snippets we have seen here, the tabloid/ragazine interviews are almost always garbage, or recylced old quotes that are no longer relevant. I have a feeling--again, you (nikola)know the industry and I only know human behaviour and extrapolate as much as I can-- that, as you say, actors have to agree to a lot of stuff and are grateful when they are starting out, but if they gain recognition, and therefore clout, they do not have to do as much.
Once he's through with Twilight, he's going to become more of a reclusive star, only giving the rare interview here or there or doing a talk show appearance when he absolutely has to. And that's because...
For these Twilight films he will have done enough publicity to last any actor for a lifetime. He once said that he'd like nothing more than to just 'shut up', but that he's contractually bound to keep talking.
You watch and see. When he's no longer contractually bound by a studio, he's gonna go quiet like a submerged sub. So...
Everyone enjoy it now. 'Cause this glut of 'Rob' isn't going to go on throughout his career. I know that some don't want to hear that, but...you watch and see.
Even alot of the blogs that are devoted strictly to his 'celebrity' and not the longevity and legitimacy of his career, will fall by the way side, once this tidal wave settles, and he becomes more tight lipped. Also...
Once Twilight is through, even the papps will calm down a bit where he's concerned. They only follow him because right now, he's target number one on the internet and his photos SELL!
Remember the frenzy that surrounded DiCaprio during Titanic mania (although he didn't have to deal with an out of control internet back in 1998) AND Orlando Bloom during his film franchises (Pirates and LOTR)? It's all calmed down for them and now they can pretty much go about their lives. They still get papped, but it's not insane.
And one day, it won't be insane for Rob anymore either. All storms eventually pass.
Although I am long past the Tiger Beat age, I love these pictures. Glad they are still interested in Rob since he is also a bit past the age of the Tiger Beat key audience. Nice article. Thanks for posting.
I'm sure Rob will breathe a sigh of relief when the next heartthrob comes around and he can have more of a private life but he would be better off living in Europe than in the US. It amazes me that Brad and Angelina are still in the tabloids every damn week, not that I have any sympathy for a woman who steals a married man.
In terms of his career, I would think that NY would be a more ideal spot for him to land in America. It would put him right smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles and London (about 5 hrs. from each). I just hope that wherever he lands, it's not Los Angeles. Too many opportunities to be chased in cars by papps around here (we got tons and tons of freeway). NY and London? Not so easy to be chased in a car there.
As for Brad and Angelina... I think the interest in them is because they're not married. Something about getting married, puts the damper on 'celebrity.' I guess the gossip mongers don't see your life as 'exciting' anymore.
Examples... When Jennifer Lopez and Scarlett Johansson (two of the biggest tabloid staples there for awhile) got married, the 'interest' in them cooled considerably.
Tiger Woods. Until his sex scandal, who was talking about him? Golf nuts.
One exception though... When Brad was married to Jennifer Anniston. They're marriage didn't cool their celebrity. In fact, it inflamed it. Maybe because she was a television star married to a movie star (and she was the star of the biggest show on tv and he was at the height of his popularity as a film actor). I think if she were to up and marry someone, the interest in her would calm down too. As usually, marriage is the kiss of death for 'interest' and 'speculation' about a celebrity's life.
Get the fuck married Rob and maybe the 'fiends' and jackals will leave you alone.
I am currently single and would be more than happy to help you out there and I don't even want to get married. But for you darling?
I think they would hound Brad and Angelina even if they did marry; they resent her for not cooperating enough for photo ops, etc. I think the ragazine covers are totally awful--what if their kids, who DO go shopping with her, see these terrible things about her and about an impending break-up??? How terrible for the children! It is bad enough if it were true, for the children to see that, but as lies--well, I hope, if these are lies, that they sue for slander, and if (sadly, becasue the children are in the middle of it all) it is true, that some other case can be made as damaging to the children. I get financially, emotionally= greed, nastiness, etc., why rags do this, but spiritually-- is it possible they NEVER think of the damage they do, the pain they inflict?
As for Rob and Kristen, I think they will be hounded and lies will be spread, for a while, whether they marry or not. As long as people find Rob desireable, they will want to hear break-up possibilities to fuel their delusions about being with him.
Im embarressed enough to admit I LOVED this mag as a teen. Till I noticed they rehashed the same thing over and over again with different stars. Then I lost interest. I think I was-14? when I figured this out..

Yeah, that's what these magazines do... "they pull stuff from real interviews".
ReplyDeleteOTOH, I absolutely adore to get a glimpse of his beautiful face on any cover. He makes me smile...
Love you, Rob! Take care.
Muah! :x
And I'll make a prediction for you.

Just my opinions.
@nikola6... I totally agree with you and I hope it happens that way for him...
ReplyDeletesissidelyon...
ReplyDeleteI sure hope it goes that way for him because if this frenzy were to continue throughout his life and career, he'd end up in a mental institution.
Or maybe that would be me. If I had to watch this insanity go on for the rest of his life and career, I'd end up in the mental institution.
Both ways it sure is insane... Even the fact of all of us being here is insane... It feels good but it will surely calm down one day... I hope so!
