Robert Pattinson Helps Out Hawaiian Schools

From Examiner.com

You've gotta hand it to Robert Pattinson for being a charitable guy. It has just been announced that Pattinson ("Edward Cullen" in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and "Tyler" in Remember Me) is pitching in for a local Hawaiian Montessori school fundraising drive by donating autographed posters and a Twilight book for the Montessori Hale O Keiki’s annual fundraising gala, "The Orchid Ball."

Pattinson's signed gear will go up for auction at "The Orchid Ball" on February 5th, and it appears that proceeds will go to benefit the local Montessori school program.

Nice guy, huh?

You might remember some of Pattinson's other charitable contributions of late. Last spring, Pattinson auctioned off a smooch for AMFAR (while promoting Remember Me at Cannes), and only recently, Pattinson presented for George Clooney's famed "Hope for Haiti" telethon (in London, England) with the following speech:

"Underneath a flattened university, Maxine Fallon waited. She was crouched in a fetal position and could barely move. In the darkness and during the hectic sounds of the day, through the pain, the hunger and thirst, she prayed that someone would find her. And on the sixth day her prayers were answered, she was found because of a text message from the rubble sent rescuers to her side. Unlike any other event in history, our world has been connected to this tragedy because of technology. Twitter updates, Facebook pages with pictures of the missing and text messages for help. This technology is working right now to connect us, too. At hopeforhaitinow.org, you can donate and you can instantly interact with people in Haiti and anywhere in the globe. Join with those watching and see what they're saying about something we all care deeply about — helping the Haitian people get back on their feet. Please go to hopeforhaitinow.org. Thank you. "

It seems that many of the Twilight cast members have grown a very charitable bone, and even little things like this make a huge difference. The more the merrier, right?

Props to Pattinson for pitching in.

  2. Thinking how much money would be raised if Rob cleaned out his closet. (Everyone here would be bidding nonstop! So true.) LOL. ; )

    Hugs to Sweet Rob!

  3. Seriously-FILTM!!

For more than just his beautiful face. :)

  4. Rob does it again. He is just the most kind hearted person. I'll bet he'd love to see Hawaii too. I've been there and asked to be pinched every day to realize I was really there.

Saw Oahu and Hilo only. Missed the other islands.

Aloha and Mahalo to you, Puddle

  5. OT here but did you girls realize that Pierce Brosnan's birthday is just 3 days away from Rob's.

They're both Taurus. So guess Rob may follow in his footsteps. That would be fantastic... Can I live thru this? Yes, oh yes....

Can't wait for Remember Me.... Must see it and buy it. Okay, calming down here. Phew....
Just remember the stills shown recently, oooooops. Got excited all over again.

  7. Where do I bid?

The AMFAR kiss went for like $10,000 I think, with crazy Sharon Stone in charge of getting bids. Would love to know what Rob thought of her. Some studio executives daughter go the kiss. Lucky little girl.

Way to give back, Rob, we love you!

    ReplyDelete
  29. gwen - completely agree with you...rob, clean out your closet for charity and let the bidding war begin :)

OT- the other thread was really serious about the whole details things, but my opinion...so what if he wants to do racey photos, he is a 23yr old man, who wouldn't. and i would to see any or all of them. too bad he won't be getting a lap dance, he deserves it, preferably from me :) but the death threats that is seriously freaking out there, whoever would even go to that level to think of that, needs some serious help and needs to step away from the computer. and crazy shit like that is going to put rob into hiding.

    ReplyDelete
  30. oh and FF updates. MOU is soooo good.

Yes, momentarily peeking my nose out of my cave. I didn't have time earlier to comment on some of the juicy items (details on Details, etc.), but thought it was so very sweet of Rob to donate a few items for a little Montessori school fundraiser in Hawaii.
Alas, I'm far away in the freezing cold now, and am missing it dearly. Have to get back to visit the folks regularly...:)

  45. Ana, I hope she does not trivialize it.

He is her first love and sex. How does an eighteen year old girl get over something like that. Geez!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. angie - that is so cool. my husband has been wanting to go to NY and i tried to tell him to lets go in march but he said why so sudden, he said is it because of rob and i just smiled and he rolled his eyes, so that didn't go over too well. you have to take tons of pics, i am excited for you and i am jealous too. r u gonna try to get tickets for any of the talk shows that he is going to be at?

    ReplyDelete
  47. adm - i agree with that too. like in RL you cant get over something like that. it's one thing to know that someone WAS a player but it's a whole other thing to actually SEE it. it really broke my heart. that's why i think there cant be a HEA. she already stuck a dagger in bella's heart, she just end the story now LOL ok, now i am being overly dramatic :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. CL - ok, sorry I missed your call. I thought I heard my cell (I'm upstairs) but I wasn't sure. I'll go check it now.

I agree! Can't promise on the screaming ;)

I started MotU tonight. What have I done to myself?

Ana - I think there will be many more opportunities to see him in the years ahead...keep working on the hubby, maybe he'll let you go eventually

    ReplyDelete
  75. angie - you are gonna get hooked on MOTU, is soooo good.

    ReplyDelete
  76. @Angie - *blushing* God, I would die.
MotU will own you. You've got 67 chapters of good stuff. I love it.

Am reading Breaking Trinity right now.

    ReplyDelete
  77. CL - that would be the ultimate in embarassment!

and I have fallen into the world of ff!!! and the list begins...

    gotta get some sleep
    G'night!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Ok, ff question---was discussing this issue with Marna recently---how do you feel about giving feedback/reviews for every chapter?

Actually, not a trick question, it's just that some authors seem to troll a bit harder for reviews than others and Gwen wonders how other readers feel. Do you guys offer a review for every chapter? Call Gwen curious.

(And she's had a glass of wine, so...)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Follow up ff question (sorry!), but does anyone actually vent their frustration with a particular story/plot/character? (In the olden days, this would have been called "flaming" someone.)

There's been a few ff recently that Gwen would have liked to offer an honest opinion, but simply walked away from the story instead.

What have some of you done in this situation?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Gwen, I've been curious about reviews as well.

When I first started reading ff I did not review. As I got more comfortable I started to review. I don't review every author I read. If they have a very high number I usually don't. If I really like the story and the author has a small number of reviews I review every chapter.

Reviewing updates does not bother me. Reviewing every chapter when I am just starting a story that is way ahead of me does. It ruins the momentum.

I realize that they are putting a lot of time and effort into their stories. However, sometimes finding anything to say about each chapter is difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Gwen, I also walk away.

If others enjoy the story, who am I to complain. I have read some that I like and others don't.

    ReplyDelete
  82. ADM, Thank YOU! Was thinking it was just me, not wanting to offer a review every frigging chapter! Yes, I do realize that it takes a great deal of time to write (Hello, you should see my PILE of works-in-progress, for other universes---number one reason why I do not post incomplete stories).

Most recent discussion with an ff author of a story I was reading gave me the enlightenment that some authors write for "sport" versus as a means to telling a story. Sort of a weekly "gig". But, the insane amount of per chapter pleas for feedback was becoming an interruption to the story and quite frankly, ridiculous.

Ok, thanks for letting Gwen vent that. She feels much better! ; )

    ReplyDelete
  83. OT
Finally got to see HA. It was really good. Rob did an excellent job of course. (didn't really expect anything less)

    Surprised at the ending.

    ReplyDelete
  84. This charitable stuff makes him (if even possible) even better!!! How can there be such a perfect creature? What is the purpose? God, give me a sign.... !!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Wow! The Hawaii sure is lucky to have this heartthrob help them. I am jealous. :)
