  11. @ RPAddict, I loved that scene too! Robward reciting Shakespeare, that wuz awesome!

  12. What??? No commentary with Rob, Kristen, or Taylor? That totally sucks. Why would anybody want to hear the editor's commentary? Who even has a clue who he is? This just sucks.

  13. Yes, the slomo walk will be worn out on mine too. Acutally, the whole beginning and end will be. Not so much the middle, prob skip it after the first watch like I do with the book ...

  14. Marna... especially since the editing was less than stellar :(

  15. I'm sorry, I am not looking forward to buying this DVD because there is no commentary by ROb, Kris or even Taylor! They cheated us out of the E/B story in the movie now no commentary by the actors which I was looking forward to! Why can't they get that through their heads! I don't want a dvd full of Jacob and Bella, I want a dvd full of Edward and Bella, if not that at least have Rob and Kristen commenting on the movie! Sorry Summit but I am not rushing out to buy this DVD like I did the "Twilight" dvd!

  16. Agreed. No Rob on the commentary will be very disappointing. He was hilarious and I remember he earned some respect from the critics because he was so willing to 'mock' himself.

I had assumed that was one of the reasons he hung around LA for a month after NM promotion was to do this commentary. Guess not.

And I too loved his rendition of the Shakespearan passage. My if he wouldn't make a wonderful Romeo.

But you know what I loved most about that first DVD? Edward's piano concert. That was sublime.

Now that I think of it, he too is sublime.

  17. Agreeing with everyone, the commentary with Rob was what i was most looking forward to on the extras.
    =(
and AGAIN no freaking outtakes, there must be some funny stuff they are not letting us witness on that set!

  18. @ADM, Tenneil, Ellie and CullenGal09 (like your name!) - The slo-mo, sexy strut!!!

Was really looking forward to his killer sense of humor and the voice, ah, the voice, on the commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Why are you so sure that there is no comment from Rob? The subtle details, Edward fast forward, etc, could all contain comments of Rob.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well. I'll buy it because I want the story intact; all of the films and all of the books (including Midnight Sun if she ever gets around to publishing it AND even if she continues on with the story of Jake and Nessie). I want that entire story in both book and movie form even if they disappointment a bit here and there. Which brings us to a little problem...

Because of modern techniques of marketing films, we as an audience have been given TOO MUCH; early still photos, too many trailers, leaked scripts, even the goodies, the behinds the scenes goodies on the DVD's (and all by benefit of the internet) and it has set us up for disappointment because it's raising our 'expectations' TOO HIGH! And I'm as guilty as anyone in 'indulging.' I like behind the scenes goodies too, although they have absolutely nothing to do with the FINISHED product of a film.

Back in the day, the audience walked into a movie theatre with very little expectation; maybe knowing the subject matter of a film or perhaps having read the book upon which the film was being based and of course, knowing that they were about to see their favorite stars. And I'm guessing, they were a more satisfied audience because of it.

Nowadays, we simply expect TOO MUCH. We've been conditioned to and it's ruining the 'magic' of movies.

I hear 'disappointment' all the time in comments. But whadda ya gonna do? This is the way it is now and you can't unring a bell.

    Nik

  21. Suzanne...

When it says that the commentary is by Chris and the editor, one must assume that the actors have been excluded or else, why not 'advertise' they they will be participating as that would be an enormous marketing tool. That's not to say that Rob couldn't show up else where with a comment or two.

And maybe I need to go back and read more carefully, but did someone say there were no or very few deleted scenes? If so, that would be a HUGE mistake.

The Twilight DVD was considered one of the very best ever released because it was so jam packed with so many goodies. If they give us less this time, they could hit a shitstorm with the fans.

Like I just said, we're spoiled now and we expect MORE. With each new thing, we expect MORE.

  22. Hi, Tenneil!
    Yeah, it was me!
    How are you, babe?
I'll probably be on here lat tonight...I hope you'll be here!
    xoxoxo

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Nik: Absolutely agree! We are really spoiled.

Of course I hope to see and hear as much of Rob as possible, but I won´t be disappointed if there is no comment from him.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I heard that Rob did do a commenntary. But, don't quote me on that because that's just want a heard from somewhere else. I could be wrong and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Of course, we don't know if this is the first or only version being talked about. There were so many different sets of Twilight with different extras, it drove me crazy. Maybe on another version there's commentary with Rob. I guess we'll just have to wait & see.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ellie... oh mistress... you bring the keys... I will most likely be around.. will come looking for ya??? :) I'll bring the hot pockets :)

  27. No Rob/Kristen commentary?!
    No deleted/extended scenes?!
    WTF?!
I hope this is wrong....because I can so go without silly music videos!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. WOW!!!!!! Those are great pictures... Love the first one where he's running.. Heck I love then all. Why the Heck didn't they have him running like that in New Moon instead of the damn sissy run (insert angry face).
This man something for wooly hats and Rayban.

  29. Nik: I don't think of the Twilight "saga" as a work of art put out there to stand alone like a classic film. It's a global orgy. It's a club with its own uniform sold at Hot Topic. With its own music available even at Walmart. With its rockstar promotional tours. Its MTV specials....

It's a star-making machine. An audience-pumping machine. A neatly packaged product designed to get people hooked. Is it any surprise when they go into withdrawal when someone withholds the candy?!?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh hell no. No Rob commentary. Summit is so wrong for that. Rob is what made the commentary funny. Without him the extras on the Twilight DVD were blah.

Summit will be loosing money without Rob commentary. Wrong decision.

    ReplyDelete
  31. But guys I do remember CW promising that there would be a commentary with the 3 leads, Rob, Kristen and Taylor, he really insisted on that at the time. And wait, I remember one of my Pirates of the Caribean DVD's got 2 different commentaries, one by the director and J. Depp, and another one by two other actors. So maybe it will be the same with NM - several distinct commentaries?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love the fact that the movie is mostly about Bella and Jacob but Edward gets to be in the front on the dvd cover.(Saracasm)

    ReplyDelete
  33. And another thing, isn't Anya Marina that incredibly annoying woman who did the NM interviews at the premiere & just screwed it all up? I really don't need to see her video, I can't believe Summit didn't pay any attention to the fan response to her.

    ReplyDelete
  34. if there seriously is no Rob commentart, I am beyond bummed and pissed off! I'll still buy the dvd, but that's very dissapointing.

Let's hope this is wrong somehow, and we'll get the commentary we all want so bad. CW said in an interview during NM promotion that he, Rob, Kristen and Taylor were going to be doing the commentary...so let's hope he was right!

  36. what?? $32??? Rip off even if it is Rob they are jackin' up the price to gouge us???????? Mean Summit.

  37. Seemed like R/K/T had more power, control, input in NM and they probably did not want to be a part of the commentary........they both sounded so embarrassed by it in Twilight, especially Kristen, it was painful to listen to her, she hated herself so much. Rob hates to look at himself in the movies he does - has said it many times and even got up and left the first premiere so I'm sure it was THEIR idea and they convinced Chris who seemed all too willing to comply to their demands in many situations on NM - no wonder they liked him best.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm not real surprised that Rob is not on commentary, because of smaller part, BUT sure he could have said something about the Volturi scenes. No Kristen on it? That's not right.

  40. The movie nor the DVD CANT EVER beat Twilight. Twilight was the best and plus Catherine Hardwick was a better director -- I don't know why people hate on her. She was very creative.
Chris, did definitely not make us feel the love emotions that Catherine made us feel in the first movie. But the movie is still great, will buy the DVD. :)
