According to his co-star Emilie de Ravin anyway... I'm inclined to agree, you know, because I know him so well!!! ;-)
Emilie de Ravin took the stage at today's TCAs in Pasadena where she answered questions with all her Lost castmates before their last season starts Feb. 2. After the panels, we snuck in one question about, who else, Robert Pattinson, who she worked with on the upcoming Remember Me. It's one of the movie's we're most looking forward to this year, especially after the latest hot poster and here's what she had to say. On working with Rob on Remember Me vs. her Lost leading men:
Every experience with whoever you work with is always different. I had a great time working with him. We really made a point of working on our characters and their relationships and such. He's a really easy going and nice guy to work with, which is always refreshing.
Love hearing her gush a little bit about Rob, who has been quite successfully laying low since his and Kristen's New Year's fan encounter.

I can't wait for this movie and I can't wait to watch Emilie & Rob together on screen. She's such a doll! =)
The fans really need to support this movie big time. We know opening night will be great, but there's a fan movement to get everyone to go again on 3/13 as well.
I took the weekend off & plan to live at the theater for the weekend!

aw, I can't wait to see remember me, I think they are cute as a button together on the promo poster and schmexy scenes look hot.lol
It's true that this film is VERY IMPORTANT for him. It's his first film post Twilight and Hollywood will be watching VERY CAREFULLY to see if he can 'open' a film that isn't just a part of the Twilight franchise.
And it's the opening that's important. Even if it trails off at the box office after the opening week. It's that opening that Hollywood will be looking at. Can he 'open' a film other than Twilight? That's what makes a movie star...can their star power, the strength of their name, 'open' a film?
And as popular as he is at the moment and coming off a worldwide hit that has reached a nearly 700 million dollar gross in just six weeks (and still counting), I'd say Remember Me needs a 20-25 million dollar opening...at least. If this thing opens up at 10 million or less...not a good thing. Not a good thing at all.
The thing that makes a star is when their follow up films -to the breakout film that made them a star in the first place- keep on making money. After Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts had at least a half a dozen films that were hits. Same with Kevin Costner after The Untouchables.
This one has GOT TO HIT!
Nik
I loved her in Lost too!! And I think that they're gonna be great together!

Emilie is such a doll.
Sooooo can't wait for this!!! Even as I sit here with it 10 degrees F outside, I want this more than spring. LOL
well actually the things that emily said was what I am thinking for Rob he is gorgeus he can do anything to me that he wants
Nikola6: I don't see it in terms of numbers. This movie needs to get good buzz from the critics. Rob doesn't seem interested in being a box office star, only in using box office clout to launch other more interesting projects. Of course money talks, and he needs success with the audience as well. But right now, he needs industry insiders to acknowledge his acting skills.
If RM does for Rob what Rachel Getting Married did for Anne Hathaway, that will already be great. Nice box office would be the icing on the cake... but in my mind, not a must.
My underlying question is: yes, Rob has become a "movie star". But does he want to stay one? Does he care if his name alone can open films?
I'm really not sure he wants to stay in that spotlight, as much as we want to keep our eyes on him. I'm sure he could have chosen follow-up films with a much higher profile than Bel Ami and Unbound Captives.... but he didn't. And I for one am very, very glad.
@Loisanda

Suz... oh wise one, you are all too kind. Olive juice!
