An Oscar Producer Panics: What If Robert Pattinson Isn’t Available on March 7?
This morning, the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced plans to obscure the unsightly makers of The Hurt Locker behind Taylor Lautner's beautiful muscles at Sunday's Golden Globes.
And now, Oscar producer Adam Shankman is scrambling to line up Twilight stars to compensate for the uglies at his awards show. He just sent his Twitter followers this appeal: "Scenario: what if, due to scheduling, pats isn't avail? Shall we Go Stewart. And lautner ? Or no twilighters?"
Then, later: "Amusing: the fans see split! Team Jakob and team ed. It's going to be a surprise." And later still: "Remmber : oscars are bigger the n prese mgtdx B." (We have no idea what that last tweet means.)
If we're reading these correctly, it seems Robert Pattinson is unavailable to attend the ceremony on March 7, misshapen Oscar nominees will sit in plain view of the cameras, and a panicked Shankman is writing in terrified gibberish. This could, literally, get ugly.

If he were invited I think Rob would go. It's probably a cynical view, but the producers of Bel Ami wouldn't want to upset the powers that be at the Oscars, especially if there is a possibility of future nominations.

I think if he is asked and it fits in his schedule, he will be there. It's a big deal to present, and great publicity for your movie. I would think that Summit would really want him to go. Fingers crossed for more Oscar Pretty.

When the Academy asks, you go. If you can. If he can and they ask, I think he will go again. But...
There's a part of me that would like to see him not attend. He went last year simply to show his pretty face and that would be the only reason for him to do so this year.
Showing up every so often is fine. Showing up every year when you or work is not in contention, it can look like you just want to walk down that red carpet.
He KNOWS that the only reason the Academy is inviting is because of Twilight. And don't worry about him pissing them off he doesn't show.
DiCaprio blew off the Oscars when Titanic got 14 nominations, but he was overlooked. It looked petty on his part, but everyone got over it and I believe he's gone on to pick up another 2-3 nominations.
I hope he doesn't show. I'm not thinking about how I want to his pretty face. I'm thinking about how he feels about himself and how he's viewed by his peers.

If he gets the invite & schedule allows I'm sure he will be there...
He's big news, he's got 2 movies coming out this year, both are summit, they're going to want him there...
You don't have to be nominated and it's the Oscars... You go if you can. He could even do something remote if he couldn't be there in person...He's an EP on Remember Me, he's in the big leagues now...

It's found memories for me, it was a big deal in my youth, we had dress up parties to watch the oscars for many years...and I just freaking love the movies..

I just hope if he goes they don't ask him to present again. Not his fault at all but the whole time he was up there last year was incredibly awkward for me. Maybe because what's-her-name's bow was covering 3/4 of his body and the lines were just so stupid.
I think we've heard every conceivable reference and attempt at a joke regarding vampires. They're getting a little tired.

Same here. I stay up for every freakin' minute of the Oscars! I have always been a huge movie buff-love the black and white classics. The Academy Awards are the creme de la creme, Hollywood politics or no. The only thing I really never like is when actors use their speech time for personal issues. IMO the Oscars are not the forum for this. Other than that, love it all. Johnny Carson was always a great host.
Rob did seem awkward last year, but Christ, he was thrust into this mega big deal and was probably nervous as shit!
Didn't he say last year that he was waiting for it to all be a big joke?

he was totally awkward & nervous... He was new to the business (in the US) pretty unknown, went himself, and it wasn't even to present an award, just to talk about the live stories of the year...but he did great... and held his own with such class & grace...
Sigh.... He's just special dammit!

Playing extreme catch-up, I found out who he was and have been Robsessing ever since. So, for my sanity, he has to be invited (and show up looking stupidly sexy, duh!) this year, so I can properly drool and then go spend some alone time with a vibrating object. LOL! Sorry, but it's true. =)

Dear God,
I know I've had some not so stellar moments this past year...mostly due to the loverly subject of this blog...however, I will promise to try and do better. So if you could just see fit to make it so that we can have some OscarRob this year, I would greatly appreciate it. Oh...and I will try to maintain my control if said situation happens...but I can't promise anything...but I will try and not use as many expletives in my reactions...

Ok, I'm sorry but, if this is true this is complete crap. To invite "Pretty" people to sit in front of "Ugly" people is flat out wrong! The people of The Hurt Locker are nominated and deserve to be there and be reconized. If you think that the people are too ugly to be seen then why don't the nominations and the awards just go to "Pretty People?" Why should the Twilight cast go if all they're supposed to do is it there. It would be different if they were nominated or a presenter (Although I still think that it's wrong to seat them in front of "Ugly" people who are nominated.) If the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Adam Shankman feel that this is the only way to get people to watch and to get ratings then I'm never going to watch the Golden Globes or Oscars again.
