As someone from a country that's been devastated with earthquakes in the past I'd like to take this opportunity to ask you to help out any way you can. There are lots of ways to donate. You can donate through UNICEF here, other links to donate are at CNN.com.
You can go to yele.org or text YELE to 501501 to donate $5.
From Marc Malkin (E! Online):
How do you get a gazillion young people to help earthquake-devastated Haiti?
Have Robert Pattinson talk to them.
As you may have already heard, George Clooney is heading up a telethon on Jan. 22 to raise disaster relief funds for the Caribbean nation.
Pattinson, I'm told, is on the top of everyone's list to take part in what will likely be an A-list effort…
Organizers, a source reveals, are aiming high and will be asking for Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner to take part.
It's too early to say what—if anything—the world's most famous vampire movie stars will do, but a source close to Stewart tells me, "She'd jump at the chance to do something to help."
That something may have to be pretaped. Stewart is scheduled to be traveling to the Sundance Film Festival at the time of the telethon to promote Welcome to the Rileys and The Runaways.
Clooney first told my old pal Roger Friedman at the Hollywood Reporter that the telethon would take place on MTV. But as of this afternoon, I'm happy to report ABC, NBC, HBO and CNN have agreed to air it, too.

What a devastation in Haiti. Nobody can pull a relief effort together better than the acting community. I'm sure all asked will help.
Just the absolute devistation is unbelievable...it's always amazing to me what Mother Nature can do...
I already donated. So tragic. I just can't imagine. That will be an awesome effort on Clooney's part. Hope Rob participates in whatever way he can, I'm positive he will.
devastation...I can't type this early...
that is great that all of these a list stars are getting together to show support.
it would be lovely to have rob there. and i am more than willing to bet that he'd jump at the opportunity. and if he isn't able to due to scheduling conflicts a pre-recorded spot will do just fine.
man i am going to go to double hockey sticks for not being 100 remorseful... but a lil bit of me would love to see rob and george on the same screen.
okay back to being sympathetic to the disaster. hopefully my donation will be enough for my dream scenario swoon faulted weakness.
Rob strikes me as a civic minded, caring individual.
I am sure he would say yes.
I wish this "George wants Rob" wasn't "Breaking News".. it should just happen organically.
If Rob, for whatever reason, cannot do it ... does he look bad?
tsk tsk George.
God Bless the people of Haiti.
Please everyone, do all you can.
wow this is such a very sad situation for the people of Haiti, I have already donated, but yes I think if Rob and Kristen were to help with the telethon young people who might not be aware of the need or just haven't donated might come forward.
I'm sure he will do his best to help such a worthy cause...although it would probably have to be something prerecorded as he can't be everywhere at once with bel ami and RM promotion.Eonline said it was the same for kristen as she will be at the sundance festival.Maybe the whole twi-cast or as many as they could get could do a tv spot or something!I can't see any of them really having the time to take part in the telethon itself but i'm sure they want to help..hearts of gold!
what happened in haiti really saddened people all over the world.we can all pray for these people affected.hope rob, kstew and taylor be given a chance to help..for sure these trio will not think twice to help.
Suz,
I said the same thing last night... IF for some reason Rob could not publicly do anything, is there going to be backlash???
Should not have said Twilight stars specifically...
I think it's great when celebs use their power to help...
Ahh moment, my 6 yr old granddaughter asked if she could send her piggy bank money...she has a big heart for such a little girl..
not that it would be right to ask this of them but I bet Kris and Rob could get the #'s off the charts if they promised to kiss on air one the $$$ got to a certain #!
RPG, what a sweet girl!
What happened in Haiti is very sad...i like the fact that actors are doing something about it!!
I am going to donate to Wyclef's charity. He's in his home country trying to lead the relief effort. The pictures and footage are tragic.
If Rob can tape a segment, that would be wonderful. I'm sure if he can, he will. Isn't GC always one of the Hollywood leaders for something like this? He's a great guy.
Oh I hope ROb would do this! Its just wonderful that Goeorge reacts swiftly to tragedy. He's one of the first in line to help others. Wonderful man. Donate to the redcross or Wyclef Jean text,MTV has something too. BEWARE OF SCAMMERS! watch your emails-jerks are already buying domain names and taking peoples money. Watch emails that want you to click open a pic for viruses. My heart goes out to the people affected.
worst of all is that Haiti is even poorer now...(it's the poorest country in South America). We can't do nothing to stop the earthquake but if Haiti had had resources enough maybe the situation wouldn't have been so tragic because they could have face this emergency better (as far as possible).
I agree that we have to send help (of course) but charity is not the solution. it helps now, in an emergency situation, but then what?? Haiti still will be poor
Saw UP IN THE AIR last night and realized once again how fabulous George Clooney is. His efforts and organization around relief effort to Haiti confirms his awesomeness.
I hope that everyone will be moved to help. Here is a link from the NYTimes for ways to contribute.

If George wanted to raise some serious dough, he & Rob should auction off the magz they signed to one another...a hot item like that could raise a serious chunk of change to bless the people of Haiti.
I'm sure Rob and others from the cast will do what they can. As we all are...
How about Rob playing some music for the telethon and why he is at it, he could do a duet with Kristin or maybe lets bring on the brit pack - maybe a little Johnny Flynn and Bobby Long to sing with Rob. Make us all die a few times over. Then donate big to Haiti.
Yes. Now that it's out there that George wants him, if he were to decline (for whatever reason), yes, it would make him look bad. Why? Because he has now been singled out. Because the thinking is that he has great sway over his young audience.
I cannot imagine in a million years that Rob will ignore this. He may not be able to get to LA or wherever this is going to be held, but you can bet he'll at least tape a video segment asking for help.
If he is not already filming (and therefore has no filming schedule to upset), then I don't see why he couldn't get on a plane to LA, even if he turned around the same day and flew back to London.
If he did that, his stock would go soaring through the corridors of Hollywood. But more important than all of that...
He is very important to alot of people now and he does have influence over them. And maybe this can be the first real opportunity for him to use that influence in the greatest way.
Were looking at 50 to 100 thousand dead here and a country (no matter how small), has been destroyed. The world must stop and help. And if a young movie star can influence others to help, then that is his obligation as, not a famous person, but as a citizen of the planet.
NIk
Even if Kristen cannot attend because of Sundance, as long as Rob is not required to be on that set yet (and if they're in pre-production, he can miss a day of rehearsal or costume fitting), there is absolutely no reason why he couldn't fly to LA, even if only for a few hours. And besides...
It's not Kristen or Taylor who is fanning this worldwide hysteria. It's Robert Pattinson and that's who they want for this.
If I were advising him, he would be on that plane. Not only because of the respect it would garner from his pears, but as I said...
From a human standpoint, it is the right thing to do. He has a chance (maybe for the first time in his young life) to actually 'contribute' to something very important here. To be a part of it. Who, if given such an opportunity, who, if they knew that they could influnce maybe millions to the good, who would not want to participate in something like that?
Opportunities, to be able to influence others to the greater good, don't come along everyday.
Rob darling? Such a day has come for you. You're very blessed to be in such a position.
Nik
it would garner the respect of his 'peers' not his 'pears'
(just being a little anal retentive there)
One last thing, I promise...
He should be flattered and humbled that Clooney has called him out on this.
Of all the stars in the world, it's his presence that has been the 'first' to be requested.
My heart is bursting now. Most especially for the people of Haiti, but too, for a young man who has come to mean the world to me.
He should be feeling honoured. I know that I am feeling honoured for him
Nik
RPG, that made me tear up! what a lovely girl-sounds like a total sweetheart. :)
I sent a text for my donation...let's do all we can for these devastated people.
