Beautiful movie, not perfect, but worth it to be seen. And the music, myohmy... the score is just sublime, mediterranean taste... Although the story it´s supposed to be happened in Madrid, not Barcelona, but even yet...
oh gud, Are U reading my mind. I was thinking and readning about little ashes, whishing a new post about it here. Hey maybe someone listen to my whishes. May be I should whish for Rob appearing in my room ;)*whishing*
Good movie. How many young actors would accept roles like these in Little Ashes? The majority is scared to make gay characters. They think people are going doubting of their masculinities. Only the brilliant and intelligent actors like Rob accept any good role. Little Ashes is beautiful, and Rob and Javier are so hot and romantic.
Dina - do you have the DVD already? How are you going to watch it?
It's showing at a theater near me right now so I'm definitely going to see it this weekend if I can ever get over this sinus crap! I'd be going alone and home the theater is in a good part of town - I'm not too sure based on the mapsco directions.
Becky - please let me know how it was for you this evening.
I never thoght seeing 2 men kissing would be so erotic until I saw Little Ashes. Sure I've seen it before but seeing Rob was different. He can be sexy even as a gay man.
@fem I have been checking all the video clubs I know around my area. No one had it. There was no way of having it on at the cinemas here in Greece so so ...forgive me God that I have sinned. I bought a illegal one. For the name of Rob.
I agree with you, Rob looks so hot, intense, erotic. I feel so excited seeing him kissing Javier and Rob lying on the rocks... Rob smiling to Javier...I melt.
This is the first gay movie I am going to watch. I haven't seen Brokeback mountain or Philadelphia or Milk, nothing. It's not that I am not gay friendly but I have some limmits. The things I do for HIM.
Good,I thought it was something wrong with me being turned on by 2 men kissing or even looking at each other. I've seen Brokeback mountain but it wasn't erotic at all for me.
well i am really bummed i haven't seen it. it was not in theatres close to me and still waiting for video.
anything with rob is a turn on :)) but i cant wait to see this.
dina, brokeback was not bad at all it was actually a beautiful love story between two men, you should give it a chance someday. i didn't watch with my husband but i did watch it with my daughter.
I think it is erotic because from the trailers I have seen, the two characters appear to be in love. I don't care who or what sex you are, when the heart is involved none of that matters. Rob has already done such diverse roles. Watch him play the character of Art. Your heart will break for that character. He differently has not pigeon holed himself as other actors have. When you watch Rob in interviews he is still finding himself as a man and to be comfortable in his own skin. One interviewer stated that Rob "didn't have a lot of game" I think that speaks volumes about his personal character. He has not, and I hope never, gotten caught up in the hupla of being a movie star.
ITA RPG!!! I thought it was much more of a...not necessarily unrequited, but an unattainable love due to Dali`s issues. But I cannot wait to own this!! It`s so beautiful and at the same time such a tragedy...
I've seen the movie twice by now and must say it's a beautiful masterpiece. I loved both Dali and Lorca portrayals. The music is great, extraordinarily well-fitting imho. Don't let yourself frighten away by this gay-thing, it's mostly love they embody.
Jeez, that vid is hot! Haven't seen LA yet and obviously, been missing out. Rob is seriously sexy here. (Ok, we knew THAT, but this is just wow. Twi and NM, very tame.)
I've never seen this film, but that clip looked really good! Much hot Rob!
Ps - hope its fine to just add comments, I'm totally new to this whole blog/board thing! I've been lurking for ages, not been brave enough to add anything till now.
Welcome, Acconati! it's nerve-wracking to make your first post, but there are some wonderful girls here to chat with. and sometimes it just helps to get your thoughts *coughfantasiescough* about Rob out there!
Thanks! I'm very much in the Rob-closet, so this place is a secret guilty pleasure of mine. I'm new to the hotness that is Rob, somehow he managed to pass me by till late last year! And now I can't get enough... sighs
There was a rather.....interesting night here a few months back and RPG (you`ve probably seen her around) decided we should for the Naughty Bitches For Rob Club, NBFRC, or NB for short
Ok Ok I have seen it. I have to calm down I was crying at the end. Both men were amazing. I could see Dali in Rob. Do you think he ever realy fell for Lorka? In the beginning it was Rob but then slowly slowly Dali blew me away and forgot about Rob at all. Boy this man is beautiful. The sun the music the stares the faces beautiful. My first Rob's making out was with a man. I like his accent too. His voice. The lines of his face camera adores him. Thank you everyone it would be a pitty to lose something so wonderful. In the underwater scene...you have completly spoild me. Dirty thoughts and a lot of pausing.tststs
O/T : It's movie night---anyone seen anything in IMAX 3-D? Worth seeing Avatar in it? May just go see Up in the Air instead. Is it sad that I'd rather see NM again? (Only saw it 7 times. Whine.) On the plus side, there's sure to be an RM trailer tonight! ; )
Dina, stop! Now I only want to see this movie! And I have date night with Hubs (trust me, he'd see 100 chick flicks before he'd EVER watch anything that hints of gay romance. He can't stand Torchwood---which I ADORE--obviously.)
I so have to see this movie!!! ; ) Who cares about Avatar? There's no Rob!
hehehe dina, I told you that you wont regret it. I like the scene when Dali leave th class to fallow Lorka + the whole movie ;) He is so beautiful in the puppet show scene. Now I have to watch it again.
RPG, it's gone here too! : ( Thought of LB, read the book---no way Hubs will go with. I may possibly be able to talk him into seeing It's Complicated, but only because it's so darn funny. I'm definitely up for seeing it a second time.
I think there should be a rule: Rob should have at least one movie in the theaters at all times! (You think Gwen is kidding.) ; )
Avatar or Little Ashes, Think about it this way: Hot wet Avatar or Little Ashes, Think it this way: Hot wet gorgeous Rob in make out scens or 3d cgi characters? *teasing*
@gwen and RPG he developed his character so well. I found Dali hesitant to this relationship and when things became more intimate he was scared to death. A bit manipulating as well what do you think? Dali didn't like any kind of penetration. I miss summer now, my summer house on the island and a beach which looks exactly like the one they made out. Those beaches are the perfect place for making out. Rocky and isolated. Off the cloud now.
sorry Gwen,I had to tease sombody. I get the same feeling thinking about wet and Rob together. He is kind of wet all the time in my daydreams. Sometimes during the boring workout I just close my eyes and think of him wet in shower. It makes time goes faster ;)
Damn, I will now have Wet Rob on my mind all evening! ; ) Thanks, Annie!
Dina, can't wait to see this movie! I did note that it was nominated for a GLAAD award, right? A lot of film work doesn't get taken seriously because it doesn't follow "mainstream"---or it makes some folks uncomfortable and/or the masses just skip it for whatever reason. Hopefully, word of mouth and few well-earned awards will encourage people to see LA.
Robert pattinson and tom sturridge were in Grouch tonight . They were children when I was in Vanity fair and now they have beards . about 22 hours ago from Echofon
Nice video. Loved the movie. Also moved to tears. So sensual.
Always interested in Dali's work. Read some biographies, and like RPG was saying, Dali freaked out when it came to sex with Lorca. He once wrote that Lorca tried to have sex with him, but he made him stop because it hurt. As unusual and surreal as he was, he always tried to act like there was nothing between him and Lorca because he was worried what others would think.
"Rob should have at least one movie in the theaters at all times! "
Gwen.....Hells yeah!!! I think that should be a new cinematic RULE - there shalt be one RPattz movie airing at ALL times for us who love Rob so much.
Am so glad to hear so many comments about Little Ashes - I'm going to see it on the big screen tomorrow night. Gozde posted that it is showing in a town very close to me so I'm making the trip.
One of the first times I went to the grocery today and didn't see Rob on a million magazine covers - he wasn't on ANY of them in fact. I consider that a good sign at this point in his career - he needs something totally different and boy is he getting it with Bel Ami and Unbound Captives. I sure hope these movies are good - Rob deserves to be in a really great one.
Dina - I love it in Twilight in that same spot you mentioned where he says "you really shouldn't have said that" the smirk kills me. And i LOVE it when he takes her to school and opens her door and that cool Mute Math Spotlight song plays and he smiles and wraps his arm around her and says - I'm going to hell, anyway - or something like that. Wish they'd sell another Twilight extras DVD behind the scenes - that would be great. You KNOW they have the footage. And his SCREEN TEST where he fell off the bed...........GAh.....I'd give a lot to see that.
How great!!!!! Not only do we have the competition of a JILLION women all over the world now half of the MALE population wants to Snog Rob too!
Once LA is released probably more men will be drooling for Rob like we are - I've read some of their blog entries........sound just like US!!!!!! oh my.
I've had no interest in seeing Little Ashes. Just thought it was a cheap, exploitive little movie, despite Rob. Convince me that I should. I have not read all the comments, so maybe already good reasons out there I've missed.
I do not consider Little Ashes to be in any way exploitative. I found it to be a beautiful story of two very artistic men. Who found themselves inexplicably drawn to each other.
Any so called "gay love scenes" are very short, very few and very well done.
The story centers entirely on their evolving friendship and subsequent emotions.
That is my view of LA. I think you should give it a try. I found it a lovely and tragic story.
@lallieb: Wow. I take issue with 'exploitative.' I can't even imagine what you think it was exploiting but it was filmed by people who believed in the project, in the process and in the script. It was backed by the Spanish with both money and support, and they regard the film as a serious piece of work. I won't bother 'convincing' you to see it, but I deem it your loss.
I'm going to put myself in the Lion's den and welcome whatever you want to throw at me. Whip me. I watched the video, and my question is why a virtually unknown, (insecure) 21 yo actor would take on a role as a homosexual with real kissing scenes, no less? A more seasoned actor with established reputation, I could understand taking the risk. I really don't get it, unless... OK, get the whips out, I'm ready.
Omg, just back from lovely bones... Let me say this, Peter Jackson is a brilliant film maker... The acting is superb....the effects were insane... But BRUTAL to watch because of the subject matter...
He doesn't show anything... and doesn't have to...wow is all I can say... but the movie fucking kills....
One other great thing.... They showed the Remember Me trailer!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lallieb, what did it for me? The 1:40 to 2:15 mark in this vid! So sensual! (So NOT Edward!!!) The scene, Rob on the Rocks? Just. Wow. Not to mention all the great input on this thread.
To me, exploitative is a movie like Transformers (yes, Gwen does like her wam/bam/action movies, but still), it's based on FREAKING TOYS! LOL!!! Toys my kids loved and played with for years!!! But, TOYS!!! ; )
(Yes, Gwen also thinks Rob on the Rocks would make a divine drink---how about Jameson, Diet Sprite and as a Cullen-esque nod, a splash or two of grenadine for a dash of red?)
Lallieb, I'm confused... You're really questioning why Rob would make this film? The script is brilliant. Rob loves to take characters that he can work with and really get inside and make them his. The subject matter, the times, the artistic values were and still are so remarkably interesting and relevant...
He wants to learn as much as he can about his craft and that means going outside comfort zones... And he's brilliant in it...
Oh, and he also said he wanted a trip to Spain since he couldn't get work in London...
ITA with RRG Rob is not just another pretty face out to get famous. He READS and he cares. He said in an interview that he read everything he could find about Dali when he was preparing for this part. He gets that there is more to making movies than just trying to make money. He wants the story to be told...
LA is a character driven movie. It is exactly the kind of project/movie that Rob appears to like to explore and tackle. He seems very interested in roles where characters suffer. He played Dali beautifully. I recommend it to any fan of Rob's work...It is very well made. :0)
@ADM, ignore my description of it being exploitative, my bad. One of my favorite movies ever is Broke Back Mountain, so I'm definitely not some crazy homophobe - it's all about the love and relationship and now I'm really needing to see LA. My only question in the Lion's Den is why Rob would have taken on that role. He has himself said that it was a little movie he thought no one would want to see.
He needed the work, and he's an actor, not a movie star. At least, he was. lol Rob originally read for Lorca, but Morrison couldn't find a Dali, so he asked Rob to take on the role, as he knew Javier could do Lorca. All kudos to him for taking on a difficult part. Phillipa, who wrote the script, based on two books, I believe, was fascinated by this time in the life of these three artists.
I'm interested to see what Johnny Depp's portrayal of Dali will be, as well.
@RPG, yes, he is looking for those types of roles to play, but 3+ years ago when he was still trying to figure out whether he was going to concentrate on his music or acting, not being focused, he took that role on. Brave choice? Yes, most definitely.
Well people are saying like why did he do L.A when he wasn't well known and didnt have a point to prove, well i can tell you as an actress myself when you get offered roles you take them, you dont turn anything down because work very rarely comes along. (and i should know :P)
Litrally, you can be out of work for like 8 months then get a really good job, which also makes me wonder like did Rob ever have a normal job because he use to do like 1 film a year didnt he?? Lol
And he had a flat etc to pay for in Soho, which is expensive area, just a thought.....
wow!!!!it was a really nice vid I haven't watched this movie yet but I'm planning on seen it tonight...I'm not such a gay movie's fan..I've never watched one but I'm gonna try wow I did'nt think there was gonna be that much kisssing wow!!rob's great as salvador I think
I believe Rob needed the job - Little Ashes. I think this character is exactly the work he would seek to portray. Dali is such a unique individual who learns to become famous. Dali seemed to be using people and had no care for his friend. Very interesting from many different levels. A must see... . Although, must get over seeing Rob kiss a man. :)

Thanks for posting :)
Thank you. I love fan vids and this one is just gorgeous.
It was lovely.
oh gud, Are U reading my mind. I was thinking and readning about little ashes, whishing a new post about it here. Hey maybe someone listen to my whishes. May be I should whish for Rob appearing in my room ;)*whishing*
And I loved the movie.
It is a pity the video is not visible in Germany - is there a way to watch it anyway?
I would be happy if there were....
Girls I am going to watch little ashes today for the first time all alone, drinking my wine. Did you Rob angels of above know that?
dina, enjoy the movie ;)I want to watch it again
@annie thanks I cannot wait to put everybody to sleep and be alone me and his beauty.

Only the brilliant and intelligent actors like Rob accept any good role.
Little Ashes is beautiful, and Rob and Javier are so hot and romantic.
He was about to give up acting so he had nothing to lose. Who would have thought that twilight was round the corner.
Wow! How did two straight guys do that so beautifully? Very erotic. Especially the sweet scene with the fingers in the hair. Lovely video. Thanks.
GAH. I can't see this video.
Actually i can't see not one video posted on this site.
I don't know why. So frustrating.
it's a nice video, but the original music is so much more passionate and haunting...
I never thoght seeing 2 men kissing would be so erotic until I saw Little Ashes. Sure I've seen it before but seeing Rob was different. He can be sexy even as a gay man.
Anyone else feel the same?
@fem I have been checking all the video clubs I know around my area. No one had it. There was no way of having it on at the cinemas here in Greece so so ...forgive me God that I have sinned. I bought a illegal one. For the name of Rob.
annie,
it was highly erotic.....

The things I do for HIM.

dina, brokeback was not bad at all it was actually a beautiful love story between two men, you should give it a chance someday. i didn't watch with my husband but i did watch it with my daughter.
I think one of the biggest mis-conceptions about this movie is that it's not a "gay" movie.
It's a movie about friendship, betrayal and a love that could not be consummated.
Salvador Dali was not a "gay" man, but he did fall in love Federico, however that relationship was never consummated, and Dali married a woman.
I believe I read somewhere that Dali had a morbid fear of being penetrated, as well as penetrating.
As well as the fact that it was "illegal" and they could face jail time.
it was such a tragedy. for everyone involved....

@Acco. welcome to Rob poets society
I went to see Avatar next week, was just curious to see a big 3D movie but it's so not my thing. I would definitely prefer LA to Avatar. 10 times.
Damn, I will now have Wet Rob on my mind all evening! ; ) Thanks, Annie!

nothing cheap or exploitative about LA - imho it is a nicely made film worth seeing
lallieb,
I do not consider Little Ashes to be in any way exploitative.
Lallieb,
I'm confused...
Ahhh, Robs out with TomStu... How cute is that? With beards no less... what a site that would be to see...
ITA with RRG
Rob is not just another pretty face out to get famous.
Yes, most definitely.
what a beautiful video, soooooo glad you posted! i want to watch the movie right this minute!! cannot wait until Tuesday!!!
I just watched LA, much better than I expected from reading the odd review. It really is beautiful, but sad :(
Well people are saying like why did he do L.A when he wasn't well known and didnt have a point to prove, well i can tell you as an actress myself when you get offered roles you take them, you dont turn anything down because work very rarely comes along.
I SOOOOO WANNA WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!\ Great video. AMAZING SONG! Is it Shakira?
Wonky bare feet.... HOT!
