I wonder how they feel about all of this? And I don't mean the money. I seriously doubt either of them would whore themselves out in such a manner by selling their images this way.
If it were me, I'd be feeling so helpless right now and praying to the gods for it to all be over soon AND thinking twice before ever signing a 'promotions' clause again. In essence, Summit and this franchise owns their asses until it's dead, blessed and buried.

I believe when they signed that original contract with Summit (for the first three films), that there was a 'promotions' clause in there AND that they essentially signed themselves and their images (some would say their souls) over to Summit and therefore, they lost 'control' of the situation.
I mean there's no way that actors like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would willingly particpate in some of the shit they've had to. No way. Well...they had no way of knowing that there was a cultural tsunami waiting up ahead for them. Who could have forseen in the fall of 2007 when they signed those contracts, what was about to happen to their lives?
They're just gonna have to duck their heads, try to hold onto as much of their dignity as they can and ride it out. And like DiCaprio said (other thread), this is all gonna pass and no one's gonna remember any of it.
If Rob goes on to be an actor the caliber of DiCaprio or Depp, is anyone going to remember or care that there once was a comic book of him at 23 during the height of Twilight madness? Nope. No one will.
Can anyone here recall any of the particulars of 1998, the year of Leo mania? Nope. No one can.

I'm the author of the comic... I'm the Twilight Parents Examiner and also owner of twilightmoonlighter.com- most definitely a fan.
You guys raise some valid questions:
*yep- I'll be contacting Rob's manager and we're happy to donate some of the proceeds to Rob's favorite charity.
*Granted- the cover is Rob's GQ photo and Edward Cullen's body. Gah. I assure you the art inside is much more lifelike.
* Yes, the fangs and sparkle comments were off-base. That's the P.R.- not to be confused with the content.
*I'm a die-hard Rob fan, and my sources were other Rob websites, so those who've read all about him may not learn that much, but they will appreciate seeing little bits of what we all adore about him.
* It's a comic book told from a fan's point of view, designed for a teenage audience but savvy enough to be enjoyed by all. It's not at all invasive into his personal life- more so a compilation of his work told in an interesting way.
All that said, I hope you give it a shot! :)

Personally, I keep wondering how they managed to get his nose wrong in every picture we've seen. Did they ONLY use reversed pictures? How can they not see it's wrong?

So this isn't a Summit enterprise but simply a fan (with waaaaaaaaay too much time on her hands). But here's the thing.
Rob could object, but why? It's just another magazine about him only done in comic book form. He could take this person to court and try to stop it, but why? It would take too much time, money and energy. And since she's a fan, I seriously doubt she wants to defame him. Hell, she's probably hoping for a 'meet.' Good luck with that one darlin'.
The best he could do here is try to get some of the proceeds for charity. You notice she said, that wasn't a done deal but that she'd get in touch with his people, meaning she hasn't done so yet.
When you're famous, anybody can do 'unauthorized' shit. How many books are out there on Rob already? A half a dozen? Just people trying to cash in on his fame.
Makes me sick. Go figure out another way to make money rather than off the back off someone else's life.
Nikola - I remember the Titanic insanity. I remember girls taking trips to where Titanic survivors graves were, and supposedly there was a grave with J. Dawson on it. Urban Legend?, probably, but I also remember Leo not being able to leave his house (like Rob today), and Leo having to take a year off for all that stuff to cool down. If Rob took a year off, I would cry myself to sleep every night.

Good catch-I don't usually even read the thread that have no interest to me....
But ITA about the nose-they always seem to use flipped photos, I don't get it either...
Leo could afford to take a couple of years off back then because he already had an acclaimed body of work under him; This Boy's Life, Gilbert Grape (Oscar nomination), Basketball Diaries, Total Eclipse, Romeo + Juliet. When all this Twilight insanity broke loose, Rob did not have any of that. So, he didn't have the luxury of taking anytime off. He had to strike while the iron was hot and he is. He's trying to build a body of work (Remember Me, Bel Ami, hopefully Water For Elephants, Unbound Captives) while riding out this hurricane he's found himself in. Not an easy thing to do at all. I would bet that had he already been an established actor when Twilight hit, like DiCaprio, he would have gone underground, surfacing only when he had to do another Twilight film.
And don't be surprised that once Twilight it through and he's got a few more films under his belt, that he doesn't take a break himself. Maybe a break of a year or two. I personally think he's gonna need it.
BTW...even though this comic book thing is not a Summit deal, you can still bet your house they've got a promotions clause in their original contracts. Which is why they ended up on that ridiculous Hot Topic Mall tour and him having to attend Wal Mart's 5:30 am corporate meeting to shill DVD's. Something interesting I've noticed though this time around (for New Moon)...
Not as much cheesy promotion. Well. Their stardom has made them indespensible to the franchise and being in that position does give them a little bit more say in how they are going to be used to continue selling this franchise.
But as for fans and the 'unauthorized' gang...not a whole hell of alot they can do about that. Unless they go to far and do something to actually defame him. Then he could -and might- go after them.
Hi, Marna! Got a reply back from the ff author I mentioned on the other thread---interesting perspective. She admitted a need for validation and storyline approval---otherwise, if no one is reading, why would she bother.
My conclusion is that the perpetual story-draggers are writing for sport, as an ongoing endeavor (not a means to an ends, say, a completed story).
This actually explains a lot of abandoned work, again, IMO. If some authors aren't getting their per chapter "feedback fix", they stop writing. Or if they hit a peak, they stop because a) it takes too much effort to finish and b) quit while you're ahead.
None of which is wrong/bad, it's just a bit frustrating to have to offer reviews every single chapter to encourage an author to continue. ; )

Funny thing - there is a facebook page that is listed as Rob P is ugly (that's just mean) and they have 200K members but the main person posting keeps asking people to send ugly pictures of Rob and apparently they aren't doing it...........hmmmmmm wonder why???

I'm surprised that people are objecting to this comic book story of Rob. Maybe I am just so hungry for any word about him, photographs, updates on what he is doing, that even a comic book sounds good to me. I just can't help but think that if he weren't so awesome they wouldn't even want to do this, so I don't see it as a joke or something bad at all. Maybe I am missing something.

Nikola6, I'm not sure he would even want to get away from it all if he could. He seems to love acting and has stated that he can get away from all of the nonsense when he is working. He forgets about the screaming girls and the papparazi when he is working. He has his eye on a long term career as an actor and these are great opportunities for him. So, it seems to me that he is very philosophical (if a bit embarrassed) by all of the attention, but is using it to his advantage because under all the shy awkwardness that is so endearing, is a smart guy with a goal.

I can choose to get into the mix or ignore it. I choose to ignore it because I don't want to expend my energy (and playtime here) on something that has absolutely no importance of bearing upon my life. No one can hurt you unless you let them. And if they can't get the reaction they're looking for, the school of thought is, they'll eventually get bored and stop. Pretty simple. Although I'm not a complete doormat and I do have a line in the sand that can get my irish up if crossed (and that usually involves if someone else I like is getting slapped at) But until then...nah. Not worth the time.

I don't think he's looking to run away right now either and that's because, all of these doors are NOW being opened to him. What I meant was, if he had already been an established actor, having been working steadily for a couple of years, he might have then (when this tsumani hit him in the face) have taken a break from it.
And I believe (just my opinion) that he will take that break as soon as he feels he can. And it could be a long one of a year or two. That's not surprising as alot of actors take that kind of time off, especially after a long haul of work.
I have a friend who is Hugh Jackman crazy and she's going nuts because his last film was Wolverine this past spring and his next film isn't slated to come out until sometime in 2011. From the time he finished Wolverine in 2008 to when he goes back in front of the cameras for his next film, it will have been nearly two years. Like I said, she's going nuts.
When Rob takes his breaks, we'll go nuts too.
