Will an Eclipse Trailer/Robert Pattinson Appearance Save the Oscars?
The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainement Weekly are proposing that an Eclipse trailer presented by Robert Pattinson might be just what the Oscars need. They point out that the viewings increased by %10 last year and attribute it to the make over and the host Hugh Jackman, what they are missing is that Robert Pattinson was a presenter at last year's Oscars. Tell us how many of you tuned in just to see his gorgeousness present an Oscar?
And Dear Summit, please don't make us wait till March for an Eclipse trailer. We've all been pretty good boys and girls this year :) Give us something for the New Year or Christmas :)

do they DO that at the Oscars? they're kinda uppity...i dont remember them ever allowing a star to pimp out their upcoming movie thru an exclusive trailer...i dont think the old farts are off the board yet to get hip with the times. but i'll participate in wishful thinking. :))
I personally though Hugh Jackman was one of the WORST hosts ever..I cringed everytime he sang or opened his mouth....
I watched only because of Rob...and was so thankful that he was sitting behind a winner so they would keep showing him...
Yes...please summit/david, we need an eclipse trailer...
Rob was my only reason to see Oscar for the first time
Me! Me! Me!!! (raised hand) And I'm living outside of the U.S.A.
I'm a 52 yr old gran yet I'm an obsessed Rob fan. He makes me feel young. Thinking not only me but my whole family loves him. Coz hes so beautiful, talented, down to earth & a real person. We watched twilight and new moon several times. My family thinks i am a "cool" mom/gran, for me being obsessed with the hottest guy on the planet.
And Tink you're right, they don't show trailers for new movies in that venue....
Me! Me! Me! Me! Me!
Pleeeeeease Summit, give us the trailer or a sneek peek from Eclipse!!
We've been good girls and boys, we only want to see Rob + Kristen alias Edward and Bella ♥
geez i really need something, anything from eclipse. why do we have to wait for so long?it's not fair.
Rob at the oscars?
YES PLEASE.
Ah, one of my favorite gifs, Goz~~~I would have loved to have been on the receiving end of that flirty smile!
Yes, we want an early Eclipse (trailer)!!!
Well I would love to see Robert, I didn't watch the Oscars last year because I wouldn't want to sit through that bore-fest just to see 1 minute of Robert.
However while I like seeing Robert, I don't want him to be taken advantage of by those snobby Oscars. I mean they didn't even nominate Twilight for best kiss! At the very least that kiss in Twilight should have been nominated for best kiss, I have yet to see a kiss as tasteful and hot as that kiss.
So no I wouldn't want them to use Robert just to boost their flailing ratings. So while I like seeing Robert, I wouldn't want to see him in that capacity, like he is just being used...
The Oscars are so blah...not even Robert will make me watch that award show, but that doesn't mean I'm against the Eclipse trailer, thank god for youtube!
@DM~ They don't nominate for best kiss at the Oscars. They just do strickly movie stuff such as best score, actor, screenwriter, etc and such. That is left to MTV Movie awards, which Rob and Kristen won
Rob made it worth the watch as he presented, was interviewd, photographed, and was sitting behind Micky Rourke, so he was on camera quite a bit...that was awesome!
Rob was the only reason I watched the Oscars last year, & not just the show, but all the pre & post crap just in case he showed up.
If everyone is desperate for some Eclipse a month after NM came out, how is everybody going to be after Eclipse comes out & we're waiting for BD? At least there's only a 7 month gap between NM & Eclipse, but they are not even going to do anything about BD till the end of 2010, that's a YEAR from now. It's going to be a year & a half after Eclipse before we get to see it.
lol xoRobxo, that should tell you in how long I haven't watched them. I don't watch award shows in general at all. I only watched the Oscars once when I was like 12/13 years old when Titanic was nominated. And that was it. So that's why I don't even remember their categories lol.
As for the MTV awards last year was the first time I watched them because Twilight was nominated, and I loved that Twilight won so many awards. I loved seeing Robert receiving award after award lol...the things I do for you Robert...
Mrna-- hopefully we will have Rob's other movies in that time period, and then before BD comes out, we can watch the saga DVDs in order (or even out of order) to get back into seeing Rob in the role.
I've never watched a whole oscars program all the way through, but on those I have seen much of, I thought were terribly unfunny. I wish someone could come up with a better plan, o rnot have them at all.
If Rob were presenting, I would probably dvr it and fast-forward to see him and anyone else who might be worth seeing.
I would probably cry if Rob ever hosted it. The hosting is just so fake and demeaning. yuck. feh. bleaaahhhh. etc.
At that time I had no idea that Rob was going to be at the Oscars (cuz I was not aware of your site yet) and it seemed like I was destined to be Robsessed, I saw him exactly about to present when I changed the channel (thank goodness it crossed my mind) and my sister and I were like screaming at the top of our lungs and jumping up and down when we saw him, then I shushed my sister to hear his golden voice. After that my sister was ready to change the channel back but I guess destiny was persistent I told her not to..then he was shown again behind Mickey Rourke and he was really really looking sexy!! Then after that is the rest of my Robsessed history.
Not have the Oscars??? What do you think every actor/actress on the planet is ultimately working for?? The tacky MTV awards?? Not!!
And no, showing Eclipse at the Oscars would be a cheap PR move, and I don't think they would go for that at all.
rpatzzgirl I'm with u I don't like HJ at all he's not even sexy like everybody says...I only watched bc of rob that's the only reason...now I think an eclipse trailer at oscars will be kinda awkard??maybe?
I'm normally doing other things around the house while the Red Carpet (pre-show) and the Oscars are on. I'll stop to watch the awards that interest me... BUT last year I actually sat thru the whole thing because of Rob.
As much as it would be great to get a sneak peak of Eclipse, I have to agree with Jewel5, it would be a cheap PR move. The Oscars in not the right venue for that.
and oh I would want both of them(Rob and Kristen) or either one of them to be just there presenting or not!!
Yes please, bring Rob back. I heard that the guy who is over the Oscars already asked his followers on twitter who they wanted and it was overwhelmingly Rob. And Kris too.
RPG- I disagree. Even Rob liked Hugh's singing and dancing. Hugh held his own. I always watch the Oscars every year and Hugh was certainly not the worst host ever.
I ONLY watched it for Rob! There's no other reason for me to watch the overlong and really dull broadcast.
The Academy takes itself very seriously and yes, it's heavy with stuffy types who don't adapt easily to new directions or even variety in films, but that will change. It already is with the move to widen the Best Picture category, and as the old guard dies off, it will be more in tune with contemporary taste. Still, Oscar is the goal for many serious actors. The awards need to keep their elitist image to maintain that relevance, and nothing would kill that quicker than hyping coming attractions (except maybe a "best kiss" category).
It made sense last year for Summit to promote their two new stars - Rob and Amanda Seyfried by offering them as presenters, although every time I see New Moon (which I appreciate more with each viewing), I'm stuck with Amanda's two previews. If it's possible to be overexposed thru coming attractions, this girl's succeeded.
It also makes perfect sense to have Rob and Kristen present together this year. Who else has brought more glamor and speculation to tired old Tinseltown, not to mention, beaucoup bucks?
They may be too stodgy to reward a movie that gives its audience exactly what it wants, but they do know which side their bread is buttered on, and if they want to stay relevant, they best be trotting out the best of Hollywood's future. In Rob and Kris they have both massive appeal and the promise of seriously good work to come. The Academy would be nuts to risk another ratings fail by ignoring them.
I wouldnt sit through that BOREFEST,when i can watch a 3 min clip on u tube or here of what went down at the oscars IF he was there :)
