Oh wow, is that even legal?

Here in Russia they even publish novels with the plot like Twilight has. They put Rob and Kris on the covers - I am so ashamed of that!!! That's so stupid!

RPG, I was wondering the same thing.

I think this whole insane craziness around Robert is just going too far. They put him or use his name everywhere, I mean everywhere. Even now when he's hiding. It's ridiculous.
I wonder what does he really think about all this?

It wouldn't be legal in the U.S.! Takes an act of Congress to use someone's likeness, etc.

Umm seriously...Is that even legual? I dont even think Rob knows about that. I'm ashamed of it too lol And I heard that they named a school after him?? Like wth is that about?

LOL, I´m sure it´s not legal, but there are things worser than that to be ashamed of :-)

@pattinsoncheesburgs:
I just know about the one in England but that was named Robert Pattinson after someone else than "our" Rob.

In case smb interested, it is a fantasy novel titled "The other side" (or "Opposite side" to be more exact). At the bottom it says "If you are happy for more than one day then it means they hide smth from you".

Well - the bloody other/opposite side of what?? No, on second thoughts, don't want to know! lol

OK, I think all the books of him are withouth his opportunity, and think about the dvd robsessed. Maybe this book is not the worst thing, because it has only the drawed picture, not about his life.

At first I was wondering if there are countries that do not honour copyrights and such, and if Russia was one of them. Then I thought about all of the magazines even in US, UK, etc., that use Rob's (and most other people's) photos and/or likeness without permission. It's my old question of where the line is drawn about public domain, and belonging to the public, and isn't that a bit like slavery or endentured servitude? And now that I understand the legal problem with fighting paps is that of public domain, like (differences of differences, of course)garbage out to the curb is available to whomever wants to go through it, it still leaves the issue of one's own face: the paps may be allowed to photograph in public domain, but what gives them (or the ragazines) the right to USE photos of someone else without his permission?

@Solas: I believe the issue of public domain vs ownership is more about using an actor’s image to sell another product, rather than the image of the actor him or herself. Of course, if they are making money from the sale of this book, and it’s not a fanzine or some such, then yes, they should pay to use the image if it’s as recognizable as this, and it’s not about Ring of the Nibelungs. lol It always comes down to the money.

I'll..um...get off my soapbox now. ;)

A- I don't see it as a soapbox; you were explaining. I want to understand---- everything!

Solas: Thx for the sufferance, but I was trying to make a little joke about your ref to..er..standing on a box. I tend to ellipse a lot and am often not as punny as I'd like. :)
