So we're down to this LOL. It'a amazing to me that when Rob is doing promotion, paps are all over him every time he walks out the door, but if he's not doing any promotion, they have no idea where he is. Just seems strange.

They don't know where he is because
there is no 'official' schedule for him AND he's obviously not putting himself in places where he can be tagged; celebrity laden hotels and hang outs. Although interestingly enough...
As soon as he showed himself at Bobby's concert (whom they KNOW is a personal friend of his), they're there. It's possible to stay under the radar if you want to. You just simply stay out of those places where the papps hang. And if you want to be papped (as I suspected they did last August at the Chateau, the Pallihouse and then at the KOL concert), you just go to where they are.
And I wasn't thinking like a guy where this interview was concerned. I wasn't looking for 'action', I was looking for an interesting conversation. I did not find one here. I got no problem with 'girl' talk. My problem here was, this interviewer was lousy. She came off as a starstruck fangirl. Just my take.

Its amazing I tried to scrapbook once, and did 1/2 a book and was bored to tears, but I religously come here everyday to feed my robsession. Yeah in my opinion they could leave the imprinting thing out and Jacob could hook up with Leah Clearwater.
They could leave Jacob out for all I care that would give us more Rob screen time. Although I desperately want to see the scene in the driveway where Edward drops to his knees in anguish over Bella and is begging for Jacobs help. Rob could play that so well.

As for the imprinting...
If I were writing that script, I'd drop that aspect of the story like a hot potato. It's just too damn controversial. People did not 'get it.' And I do not believe it is going to make a smooth transition to the screen.

Can you just imagine Jacob going all gooey over this CGI newborn baby who's going all gooey back at him? It's ridiculous and they're gonna be laughed off the screen. I mean my god, if they laughed at Alice's vison of the two of them running together in the forest (wasn't that bad, looked like an Anne of Green Gable moment to me), what the hell are they gonna do with Jacob and that baby 'falling in love.' Taylor should scream to high heaven...

Some 'ideas' just simply do not translate to the screen. If they can pull this one off -without getting their heads handed to them- it will be a fucking miracle AND if they don't, it could ruin the film and finish up the entire series in ridicule and mockery.

He realizes she isn't a monster and makes a CONSCIOUS choice, that he simply cannot kill Bella's child. Even a child he thinks is responsible for her death. That would be something a 'man' would do. Not a petulant 'boy' who doesn't kill her because his choice has been taken away as she's now his imprint.
Does that make any sense? Am I wrong here? I mean, I understood what Meyer was doing with the imprinting (it's not pedophilia), but even I say...DROP IT!!!

I actually remember the day she posted on her site about the unfinished draft being leaked and that she wasn't going to finish it. I was so mad. I shed many tears over that. I hope she doesn't wait too long.

no, I didn't hate BD, either, and actually I always get a little worked up when *spoiler alert* Alice swoops in at the end of the non-fight. (what do you want to bet there's going to be some actual fighting in the movie?) but I just think that there's going to be a lot that won't translate to or be near-impossible to show on the big screen. I'm sure the Summit folks are trying to figure that out as we speak! Because I'm convinced that there will be a movie, they wouldn't leave the story hanging forever, or miss out on all the profit.
and yes, SM please, finish Midnight Sun!! I wonder how much fanmail she gets pleading for just that? LOL
My ultimate wish is for SM to write the entire series from Edward's POV but I know that will never happen.

Oh I totally agree about things not translating into film very well, or at all. I'm terrified for BD the movie. All the more reason to get CW on board! He may be able to pull it off.

Edward didn't kill Jacob because he could read his thoughts and knew that he didn't have 'those' kinds of feelings about her. He would one day when she was an adult, but not yet.
Edward knew that this wasn't pedophilia but rather, the meeting of two souls and that souls do not recognize physical age.
Now if they could get THAT idea across on film (with any plausibility), they might have a chance with this 'very strange' idea. If not...

Stephenie Meyer will indeed finish Midnight Sun. There's just too damn much money to be made not to. Little/Brown will pressure her with...'you owe us babe.' And she does.
I don't think it's any coincidence that she pulled the plug on this thing just as she was taking her first critical beating for Breaking Dawn. I just think her bubble got burst and she just needed to go off somewhere and lick her wounds.

yeah, Nik, I think you're right on both counts. and I think I remember her saying that she does intend to finish it, though she doesn't know when...if I remember right she said that she wants to see it as a hardback book to complete the collection. whenever she decides to do that, I know I'll show up at Barne's and Noble! Having sick kids is the worst. I'm glad yours is better! I always feel so bad when I finally take them in to the doctor and it turns out there WAS something wrong and they weren't just cranky for no reason.

I have suffered from ear infections since I was 3 years old, having had three mastoid surgeries before my 8th birthday. What has ALWAYS helped me is, heat.
A heating pad with a towel laid across it. And olive oil. Just warm it up (not too hot) and pour it in their little ears and hold it in with some cotton. And then lay them down on that heating pad.
Sorry. You didn't ask for any advice, but there's just nothing more painful than an earache (it's right up there with a tooth), and I just can't stand the thought of someone suffering with this. Especially, a little one.
Hope they're feeling better soon and that you all get a good night's rest.

I agree with anyone who says this book is going to be difficult to bring to the screen without serious rewriting.
"Dark side of the Moon" by Blondie is a good 'Edward version' story for anyone who has not read it.

I don't think the imprinting between Jacob and the baby had anything to do with the Cullens turning Bella and needing to keep the wolfpack off of them. Remember, Edward asked Jacob's permission to do so, to save her. And as Jacob was the heir of Ephraim Black, he was the true alpha, not Sam (he just had to claim his birthright). If Jacob said yes to something, then the pack could not go against him.
Now Meyer could have done it for the sole reason that by being Jacob's imprint, the pack could not harm her. Remember, they were going to destroy her because she was a hybrid human/vampire. They didn't know what they might have on their hands with her so, better to destroy it, than take a chance.
So many saw it as pedophilia, seeing only that Jacob was fixated on a baby girl that he would one day be sleeping with. I believe Meyer meant it as a 'meeting of souls' and that the soul does not recognize physical age.
What bothered Edward was not the idea of imprinting as he felt it mirrored his feelings for Bella, but rather, that he now had to share his daughter with Jacob. He'd had to battle him for Bella and now...his baby girl too.
But Edward did not see anything 'improper' with it. And if anyone could, with his ability to read other's thoughts, it would have been Edward.

The whole imprinting thing is kind of weird.
There are a lot of parts that are going to be difficult to do and also to get the points across to the audience.
But i do agree with about they should take the imprinting out.
