This spoiler is fantastic! Good job... Time has come ! I'm finall seeing it tomorrow night with my team of twimoms... They are all Team Edward... I'm sorry to say that I am Team Jacob but truly Team Rob ! Quite weird I agree... Happy Thanksgiving to all those of you that celebrate... xxx
I really have to say that New Moon was all about Taylor who makes a perfect Jacob. Also, I was impressed by Sam.
New Moon: The Sexy Abs Saga.
Hey, I'm german and I saw the movie 2 hours ago.
I think after this movie many people "turned" into Team Jacob (Taycob) - but I am still Team Edward (Robward ;D) and I will always be that!
The film was great! And I also liked the scenes with taycob -really, and I also like him - but when I saw Robward.. uhh. Especially the >marry me< ..
Do you have any fav. scenes?
Cheers
Ok, I'm off to eat and drink waaay too much, but wanted to say that EW's OG has made a really insightful comment about NM, and supported girl/woman fan power, to boot. I really liked this section:
"..what I saw, in essence, was a moody romantic melodrama from the 1950s, a movie that told its story, more than anything else, with faces. For two hours, they loomed up there — Stewart, with her pale crystalline severity, her ability to communicate desire and distress at the same moment; Robert Pattinson, with his sweet-but-not-too-safe, hurtin’-eyed, chalky-skinned delinquent chivalry; and Taylor Lautner, with those naturally wolfy features, as the group’s Troy Donahue, a friendly, quick-grinned stud-muffin who’s just buff enough to divert the heroine without threatening to capsize her devotion to her true love."
Whether one agrees with the 50's analogy, or his over-dashed- descriptions, I think he is very right about what drives the films: those faces.
I don't think many people turn into team Jacob. If they were not in any team, so they probably would be team Jacob (because abbs? ). But if someone was in team Edward... won't turn to team Jacob.
ok I'm gonna be shot for this..but my fave part was Anna..*ducks to dodge the rotten tomatoes*..Hey, she was hilarious..what can I say? Mike was pretty awesome too *dodges the vilf and wilf dolls being thrown*..someone has to speak up for the humans..LOL
Poor Mike. I feel so bad for him. But how can he compete with Jacob?
wow A==that was a good one! I don't know movies from the 50s for the most part; I've seen a few on late night TV (can you give me examples), but the faces, the expressions telling the story far more than the dialogue, certainly made New Moon. Yet, I really loved the colours, the photography, and the intensity, as well.
I still say the movie sucked, badly. I hope Eclipse erases the bad memory for me. I'd rather watch original Twilight a million times than relive that slow-moving hell again. The humans were really fun though. Wish they had more of them in the movie.
Guys I have a question: can someone please tell me what Jacob says in the kitchen when they are about to kiss? He says "Bella"....and then something I do not understand, right before he leans in to kiss her
im going to watch newmoon again tonight.i hope i can pay attention more this time, cos at the first time i saw it,i couldnt see anything else except edward face if he in it. maybe i will pay attention more to kristen now. for me taylor did good job as happy jacob, but he was bad at angry and dark jacob.i hope tay win me over at newmoon cos i like jacob charctr here, but unfortunetly he didnt...
twilight--I am so amazed you say slow-moving!!! I found it too rushed the first time I saw it. But i savour and appreciate it much more each consecutive viewing. :-D
Taylor says "Que Quowle" when he is bout to kiss Bella the second time. It means stay with me forever. I thought it was so cute. At first I thought it meant I love you.
Saw the movie for the 2nd time yesterday, I loved it when I saw it the 1st time and agree that it just gets better with each viewing I got to notice all the things I missed. This time the slow strut across the parking lot simply took my breath away, the experience was enhanced by having my slightly plastered friend mumbling "omg he's sooo good looking" and drooling all over my sleeve!!.When Taylor took his top off she commented appreciatively, when Rob took his off she went silent! I know how she feels, another Robsessed perhaps? As for the rest of the film I found the photography spectacular and especially the Victoria/Harry/Bella scene.
After leaving the cinema my friend said that she would have to go and see it again just to understand it a bit more, this was from someone who went there with a negative attitude due to the bad reviews. Being the good friend that I am I will have to go again just to keep her company!!!
Just came back home from theather. I saw IT.
well, I can say that I can't be objective, because I knew too well the story and books are always soooo much better than movies. anyway, I think they're done a great job! Taylor is impressive, the perfect Jacob. I loved all the scenes with him. Kristen is impressive too. very communicative. Robert is so charming and so Edward. a strong presence, even if we can see just a little bit of him. all the werewolfs scenes are funny and well done. Charlie/Billy is amazing: his face is priceless! and Alice/Ashley is so cute.
I think my favourite scenes are the one with Bella and Carlisle after the Jasper-incident, the one in which Edward recites Romeo in front of all the class and the scene between Bella and Jacob after the cliff-jump, when they are in the truck and she's freezing and Jacob offers his warm to her. so cute!
I also have to say the things the I like less: for example all the scenes between Bella and Edward after Volterra are too much fast. the book obviously has another rhythm; plus, all the "marry me" scene is so not romantic and I was expecting something more.

I just saw the movie for the first time today..(I live in Peru so it just came out today :D)
I really liked it! a lot more than twilight...i love the fact that it was more similar to the book and they didn't add random scenes..I didn't know what to expect from Taylor's acting but ended up liking it and so did my friend (who is an almost-hater of the saga xD)
one thing I was wondering about was the slap...I mean..Bella slaps Paul..but how didn't she harm herself?? I mean when she punched jacob in eclipse she broke her hand!! ..
ps: sorry if my english is bad!!
As a staunch Edward supporter I did not like the character of Jacob! Especially when he hung up on Edward! I could never chose Jacob over Edward and I was getting quite annoyed with Bella when she was going to let him kiss her! Sorry but I missed Edward and was looking forward to every scene he was in! I feel this way and I have never read the books!
@il4evatwilight thank you so much. I suppose it is in quileute, right?
@Solas: Here come the examples. :)I think Owen was referencing films that Douglas Sirk directed such as Magnificent Obsession, All That Heaven Allows and Written on the Wind. Any Sirk movie is an example but I think those 3 are probably the best. A list of other similar movies worth a look: A Place in the Sun (based on Dreiser's An American Tragedy), An Affair to Remember, East of Eden, Some Came Running, Peyton Place, The Bad and the Beautiful, A Summer Place and, of course, Splendor in the Grass, which was made in 1960, but has to be included.
Many of these movies dealt with themes like repression of sexuality, racism, drug addiction and so on, but, of course, these weren't addressed openly, which contributed to the ‘melodrama.’ And the stories are told, as OG, says through the emotion of faces, close-up and beautiful - sometimes the men even more than the women: ie. Clift, Dean, Hudson and Beatty. Lol
If in colour, the palette was often used as an indication of the mood or ‘unspoken’ feelings. Also Todd Haynes’ Far From Heaven with Julianne Moore is worth a look, as it’s based on a Sirk movie, but being made so much later, all themes are more overt. Probably more than you'd ever want to know, but you did ask...lol
A--thanks--i actually DO want to know!!! I like ot understand as much as possible. :-) I have never even heard of some of these movies, a few I have seen on movie channels; I heard of peyton place as a tv show when I was a little girl but it was not for children to watch. I loved East of Eden. I think I saw An Affair to Remember.
Where do people who were not alive and aware in the 50s even hear about these movies? All from the movie channel? Or is there a course, or book, to learn about these?
@Solas: Well then, seriously, I’d start with Melodrama: Genre, Style and Sensibility by Mercer and Shingler. Its film studies lit so may be more than you want to deal with, but there are a lot of courses or classes out there. There are also a lot of continuing education schools, like the New School, that offer courses for people who are just interested but don’t want the full academic grind.
Of course, Twilight and New Moon are not exactly 50’s melodramas; for one thing the traditional situations for hero/heroine are reversed as in she explicitly wants sex and he holds back, lol, but the images are sure referenced, which you can see in stills of Hudson/Wyman, Wood/Dean or Beatty, or Taylor/Clift. In fact, if you just rent films by Sirk, Ray (Rebel Without a Cause) or V. Minnelli you’ll soon ‘get’ the genre. Obviously Rob ‘got’ it instinctively since he was 'using' Dean. ;)
