For the sake (and love -- how about that) of other Robsessors around the world, I pledge not to do any "New Moon talks" until after next week, when everyone will have seen it.

:)

I agree with that, though I can't be spoiled anymore. It's going to be difficult, but I'm ready to do that for all of you!

OMG. How lucky was this girl in Spain that Robert took for dinner!!! I would happily listen to all of his complaining for even more then just two hours!!!
He looks gorgeous here!!!

I'm going to see New Moon tomorrow night. And Twilight too. Yaaaay!!!!

He did a great job on Letterman. He has been so relaxed this whole press tour. Great interviews all the way around. Today, Regis & Kelly, Ellen, and then Kimmel still to come!!!

Aaaaawwww... I so would love to hear that girl's side of the story!!! Come out Spanish girl, whoever you are! We're waiting... :-)

But how cute and witty was Rob? I think Letterman obviously had some fun, too! You can really imagine those two drinking a Heineken together after the show...

Nice one! absolutely loved the story about the fan in Spain and the look on Lettemans face when Rob talked about biting the male fan was priceless! It makes you wonder if you can believe a word that comes out of that guys mouth. He's a complete windup artist.

i could not spoil anyone even if i wanted to...im so confused right now...i think ive never been more confused about a movie in my life lol
i thought i had loved it but now...i know its stupid...but after reading reviews its like they are making me feel bad for liking it you know im a film major and i feel like a dumbass for liking new moon after seeing what all those critics have to say about it...

Marya! since when do critics know anything about movies! All these guys are just frustrated people that do not have enought talent to make their own movies and go around critisizing ever single successful or popular movie... It has always been like that and will always be. If you enjoyed it, that means the cast and Chris Weitz made a good job...
Who cares what critics say? If they were right, how do you explain the success of the whole thing? Are we that stupid?
I don't think so! I'm 40. I've seen hundreds of movies, read a much books and never have I been moved by a story like I am by Twilight... So, I guess I don't give a damn on what other people think about what I like and make my day a sunny one.
Regarding this interview with David Letterman, Rob is so funny, so british and so...
He looks tired anyway... Needs a long rest if he can have one.

sissidelyon- i know i shouldnt care! but i hate being manipulated you know? i read these reviews and i could easily ignore them, but they make legitimate points and give good reasons...thats why im confused lol
the one review that sparked all this in my head as this one http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/2008-12-6-motion-captured/posts/the-m-c-review-twilight-new-moon-marks-a-franchise-on-the-wane
if anyone cares to read...i doesnt have spoilers i think but it pretty much trashes the movie adpatations
i think im gonna just say twilight is my guilty pleasure...i think that solves my dilemma for now lol

tgill said...

sissiedelyon I agree! the critics rave about actors like Daniel Day Lewis when as far as I can see he just recycles his performances, but he is a "serious actor" so therefore is valid, but god forbid if the "great unwashed" like a movie then it must be rubbish! Why do we need critics to validate the experience for us sometimes a movie is just fun, not Tolstoy, and there is nothing wrong with that!!

Loved this! He was soooo relaxed and funny and sweet! I dunno about you guys, but this is the first time I've seen him like this during this press tour. And the Robsten question... hillarious!

To Marya & Sissidelyon -
The only critic you should listen to is your inner critic/self.
Critics are "opinionators" that have the luxury to go out and rave or trash someone else's work.
Not everyone is going to like everything out there.
Remember...what is one man's trash is another man's treasure!
I am a 40+ wife and mother and am OBSESSED with RP and am not afraid to admit it.
My husband smiles and tells me it's cute that I'm crushing at my age...bought me the Twilight Barbies and will go to movies and talk shows with me if I want him to because he loves me (and no, he doesn't see the attraction but indulges mine anyway).
Love the movie or not but don't let someone else's opinion make you doubt your own!!

many popular movies thru the years have been slammed by critics.

Sometimes its a simple, cheezy, story that grabs peoples attention.

These movies are done in sort of a melodramatic style and a very important part of "getting it" is having the fascination with B/E characters, so any critic who is not "whipped" will not "get it"

It's OK. It's a compliment that so many people do "get it". It's simple and we get it. And we get Rob too.

LOVE the David Letterman interview. Thought Rob seemed a little prepared, telling canned jokes, but he did good. These two are so used to being sarcarstic, that they don't even have a normal tone. Sarcasm is their normal tone. Lots of people won't "get" that either. But we do.

My favorite part is "I've been cryptically avoiding that question"

Mawlee said...

why does he keep denying it?? it's not like his fans are gonna be upset...

Karina said...

The critics are going in as nonfans-if I was a nonfan of the series , I would have HATED twilight. But I do like the books, like what Robert has done with the role, and so I know I'll like the film in a way a nonfan won't.

Karina said...

ps: There's two crowds you won't please at the same time. The fans who want a faithful portrayal of the novels. And the nonfans who want a more acceessible and faster paced and interesting movie. CW couldn't satisfy both, so of course they satisfied the folks who are going to spend money on it. That's my take.

he's delicious.
anyone know the song playing when he comes onstage for the first time? dave's band usually plays something that has to do with the interview subject. the second song they played for him, though, was "solsbury hill" by peter gabriel. and that doesn't seem to have anything to do with rob that i can think of. so maybe my theory is crap.

chaos said...

The interview was a little stupid. Can't they ever ask interesting questions? They get a lot of money to talk shit only, I guess.
