According to Film.com, the telling video (from previous post) that People Magazine just released and millions of people that visit this site we'd say put your money on Robert Pattinson :)
From Film.com by Charlie Toft:
We're likely about two weeks away from learning the identity of the Sexiest Man Alive, as chosen by People magazine. Given that there are fairly strict (if unwritten) criteria for being awarded this honor -- SMAs of recent years have typically been film actors between 30 and 45 -- it's usually easy to guess at who the next winner may be. Here are 10 contenders, a few of whom are outside the usual template for Sexiest Men Alive. For starters, the leading contender is a mere lad of 23.
Robert Pattinson: He has to be considered the heavy favorite, to the point where I would be surprised if it is anyone else. For starters, the Twilight sequel New Moon will be premiering right around the time that the SMA issue comes out, providing a natural tie-in. And judging from how often Pattinson and his co-stars appear in the gossip media even without a film to promote, giving him the honor would be a license to print money. The only thing working against Pattinson is his age. The Sexiest Man Alive is typically not someone who could be described as "boyish." The honor has never been bestowed on someone who arguably needs to shave just once a month. Odds: Even money. (Gozde: Shave once a month? Have you seen the hair on that man? Seriously :))
Other favorites: Brad Pitt (sexiest man alive forever and ever),Neil Patrick Harris (Legen....dairy...SO sexy, funny, brilliant but gay :)), Robert Downey Jr.(Still?), Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy :) So dreamy... yet not a sex symbol for me), Mark Harmon (seriously?), Jake Gyllenhaal (oh how I love thee), Leonardo DiCaprio (is he STILL considered sexy?), John Mayer (douche alert with voice like butter :)), Barack Obama (only Will Smith and Obama can pull off ears like that and still be SEXY as hell :))
My commentary in parenthesis, check out what Film.com's Charlie Toft thinks :)
Thanks to Jules for the tip and to Random Acts of Rob for the video. If you think you can handle more videos like the one above, check 'em out at RAoR :)

...I....*blink*...um...
(Video too hot for coherency. Especially 0:24. I am dead. kthx)
What speaks against Rob, IMO, is not his age (the shaving comment is obviously b/s) but that he would have to accept the "honor'" and agree to do an interview and photoshoot with People. Not likely. I doubt Rob would WANT the title Sexiest Man. He obviously tries to distract people from focusing on his looks.
I don't think it's going to be him just because of his age, I just hope it isn't George Clooney again.
I'm starting to feel that with all this worldwide attention Rob is getting that maybe I'm NOT going to have sex with him one day. :-)
@isalight - photo shoots are much more private than appearances are. He's had incredible ones lately and he has SMILED in them which sets many of us on fire. He could handle another photo shoot with People and who cares if their stock shoots skyward?
Today he's hot. Why can't he be chosen for this honor? Hell, he's already there in reality.
The Year of the Rob!
LMFAO Marna!!!
ewwwww I don't feel comfortable with our President being named Sexiest man alive!!!!
That's just wrong. First the Nobel prize and now this?????? No people, please no!
It would be awesome for Rob to get it. He definitely IS the sexiest man alive in the whole world right now.
isalight, he would jump on the opportunity. It's not OK! magazine's sexiest man alive it's People. It's been a VERY big for years and it's an honor :)
LOL Marna I fear you may be right there....*wink*
Hugh Jackman Paul Walker Hayden Christensen
Tom Welling Ian Somerhalder
all good choices
Yeah, wanna bet it's gonna be Barack? It's a Barack world baby.
Anyway Brad Pitt is still better looking that any of the others (LOVE Jake, but he's an acquired taste), and the only person hotter than Brad is Rob. Rob's the new Brad. Rob should totally be the choice.
And seriously? Leonardo DiCaprio? Bleah! I didn't get it in the 90s and I still don't get it now. The guy has never been even remotely sexy.
He is the sexiext man alive...but his age may prevent the win..
But I agree, it's doutbful he'll accept.
What? You forgot Hugh Jackman? I would soooo vote for him again... making it two in a row? Or what about Alex Skarsgard? Lovely gene pool they have in Sweden!!!! LOL!
Rob may be a heavy favorite... but it would seem a bit contrived at this point, with NM coming out... and all the mag coverage of late. Frankly, I hope someone else gets the SMA slot. While he is beautiful... I'm not sure he's "earned" it yet... maybe in a few years AFTER all the Twi-shizz is dead and gone. THEN we'll see if he can 'pull it off".
Irresistible. His appeal crosses all age boundaries and his face has matured some just this past year. I like what I see. No contest, he is drop dead sexy!
I realized people are saying he is too young, and does not need any more hype, but come on, ladies, this was a no-brainer this year. I will in fact be shocked if it is NOT him. The mags will fly off the shelves, and people will not pass up that ca-ching opportunity.
you don't need to "earn" it to be sexy. You are either sexy or not, no?
Some people have been debating whether Rob would want the title. Judging from yesterday's interviews, it seems that Rob deep down still wants his heartthrob title (they way he talks about Taylor and jokes that maybe one day he would want to take his coat off) and we know our guys has an erratic ego, hahaha.
Anyone want to guess how many times Rob will be People's sexiest man of the Year? He's got a long career ahead of him - lucky of us.
The main things working for him is he's got a movie out to promote(most of the winners usually have something to promote around the time of the honor), he sells magazines like no one else at the moment.
Things working against him is they almost always pick guys at least 35 in a solid marriage, someone who actually owns being sexy(and won't talk about being an idiot the whole time.lol), and they usually pick more conventional guys, ala Matt Damon.
But money is the bottom line, and let's face it, HB is getting flack for using RP, but they know who sells copies.
In my opinion, it doesn't matter if he gets the title of Sexiest Man Alive or not. Either way, he'll still be the sexiest to me. I don't need a magazine to tell me that he is!
Well, Rob is the sexiest man alive to me. but I kinda agree with Latebloomer that I hope he doesn't win the People award. Nothing against Rob, but he's already saturating the market right now and he frankly isn't old enough to earn the award. Plus I'd like to see Rob be known as an excellent actor rather than just a sexy guy. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.
umhhh I almost never agree with people's magazine sexiest list...for example I find George Clooney,Hugh Jackman,Robert D Jr,Bradd Pitt,Leo disgusting really!!everytime they mention this guys I feel so disgusted and dissapointed...I'm sure for the age they wouldn't put rob as number 1 but there's others better than the old guys they keep callin sexy..I prefer of course rob is my number 1 but I like also gerard buttler...hayden christensen..jhonny deep, the guy form wanted with AJ etc etc
Rob, hands down for me. Qiupang is right. If you're sexy, you're sexy. Age shouldn't matter. (Well, as long as you're legal.)
So tired of Clooney, Pitt, and McConaughey. And yes, tired of Depp and DiCaprio too.
Rob's age should not matter. There are men twice his age who aren't half as mature. Women of all ages go absolutely batshit crazy over him. It reminds me of the Beatles craze (not that I was alive for that mind you :)) He is, hands down, the sexiest man alive. If he's not on that cover a couple of weeks from now, it will only be because he's in danger of a backlash. The Vanity Fair debacle is proof of that.
the whole vf thing wasnt really a backlash i mean everyone acknowledged the beauty of the shots and that he was sweet as ever some just had issues with the author and the way she made it look like he denied robsten
