Oh Goz, I'm so proud too! Almost as proud as when I saw Rob got Exec Producer credit on RM!
BTW-it's a damn good thing you posted the RM trailer yesterday so I had a chance to watch it (about 20x LOL) before I saw it in the theatre. However, I STILL wasn't prepared for that kind of big screen loveliness. When the trailer popped up I freakin' moaned out loud-thank God I wasn't the only one....
Yeeessss ! That's a great new !
I'm so proud too ! And they deserve it ! It will be a good lesson for the critics. The public is the king.
Goooooooo New Moon's Team !
I'm happy to be a big opening of NM, I love NM, and I'm TEAM ROB (of course beeing here) ! I'm interested and I wait impatiently Remember me, and every movies of ROB. But please tell somebody to Summit, not to mutch trailers please, because the film lost its glamour. I think we had less trailers from NM, would be better feeling the film.
YAY!!This is fantastic!!
And yes Rob for President, I think he looks very presidential like in the pic on the lefthand side of the banner LOL
I too am very proud. We knew Rob was the best.
rpgirl27, I just saw New Moon. I had seen the RM trailer yesterday. After seeing it on the big screen I wanted to applaud. I was once again overcome with pride.
HOT DAMN! YAY FOR ROB AND NEW MOON!
Kickin ass I'm loving it. And I really don't like the Harry Potter crap so take that Potter fans, SUCK IT, its cold, it sparkles and its down Robwards trousers!
OMG Dani that's f*cking hilarious!!
I'm sure the movie would have taken in even more during the midnight showings if the theatres could hold more people. I'm just thinking of how many people couldn't get any tickets since they were all sold out. What a great start and a huge success.
That is soooo good news!
Most of the critics are so bad! (I assume they have all been written by men in their late 50ties - grrr)
Therefore, I eagerly searched fan reports about their impression. Everybody seems to be so satisfied and impressed by the movie (and of course this is good to hear).
But nobody explicitely mentions Rob's acting. Everybody seems to be positively surprised by Taylor but nobody highlights Rob.
Oh, girls, I'm sooo unsettled :(. Can anybody please tell me how Rob does in NM? I still have to wait 1 week until I can watch it myself and it's driving me crazy, that the critics call Rob's acting in NM dull and wooden, some just say that he's a bad actor, a hopless case. I can't stand that! So can some fellow robsessor please tell me their impression of Rob's performance? Help please!
As for the eedjuts who keep bringing this up as a teen thing: I just got back from a 10:50 am showing of New Moon, which I chose to avoid any possile screaming at midnight, and the theatre was PACKED --all adults-- no tjust women, by the way-- a lot of men with their women (guess some husbands and boyfriends wanted their women to go with themselves rather than take Rob or even just Edward home;-)) And thank G-d, no one sreamed, although there were some gasps when Jacob took off his shirt-- (not from me, i wasn't impressed). And people clapped at the end and everyone was smiling. :-)
And, yes, although I loved the trailers, I think maybe too much was shown.
I hope you all get to see it at least once soon!
The soul of Twilight is Edward!
Edward is Rob!
I´m so proud, I love you Rob
That's great! Now analysts are saying the drop will be steep from Friday to Saturday, Saturday, to Sunday, so I ope it's not true. I'm gonna go on Sunday for the first time, to do my part. lol
@Pet73
critics pfllllll....
I don't think they even watched the movie. I read Ebert's review in this morning's paper, and he incorrectly described several scenes. Opinions are opinions whatev, but at least make your review factual especially if you are considered to be one of America's leading movie critics.
I had NO problem with Rob's acting AT ALL.
What these people don't realize is that Edward IS a little wooden. He's supposed to be that way. How many times does SM mention how still and unmoving the vamps can be?? MANY TIMES
I know these are nuances that people won't pick up on unless they've read the book but I would much rather have the movies made true to the book and for the fans instead of trying to cater to people outside the fandom.
Anywayz, Rob had it all going on in his facial expressions. From the crooked smiles to the heartbreak in his eyes, I thought it was brilliant.
I think most people are mentioning Taylor's acting cuz it was a surprise at how good he actually was. I have to admit, he actually made me sympathetic to Jacob which NEVER EVER happened in the books. I always found book Jacob to be extremely annoying and I couldn't imagine why Bella was ever conflicted. However, Taylor really blew me away just cuz I wasn't expecting him to be so good.
Funny how I'm feeling like a proud mama too! After braving the crowds and taking 2 teens to a midnight showing, I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't all tweens and their moms. Lots of women in their 20s and 30s, and a good smattering of men, though almost all obviously there with their girlfriends!
Pet73: my first impression is simply that he's not in the movie that much, and primarily in very dramatic scenes where he is understandably in turmoil and quite tense... which is I think what some critics are responding to. The material doesn't give him much room to work, but he pulls off the soul-bearing and longing with bravado. And he stuffs that wolf right back in the box where he belongs!
I must say this: Kristen absolutely owned this movie from start to finish. Thank you girl for getting us over the Edwardless hump, so we can get on to Eclipse and BD!
I agree, Rob owned that part. He showed such pain in his face, and such hopelessness when he thought Bella dead. His face can flicker from one emotion to the next. I felt Edward's confliction and pain all the way.
What an amazing testment to the books and to this amazing cast....
I saw twilight first last night and there was not one empty seat.... Which speaks volumes to the love of this franchise...
I was in the theater for a total of 9 hours last night with New Moon following twilight and everyone was just in awe!
Pet73
Rob does an amazing job. I won't spoli on this thread... But his acting brought me to tears.
critics always want to tear down what's popular, it seems, the more hype something has the quicker they are to say that it sucks. Critics are just failed actors, I don't pay any attention! Haven't seen it yet, going tomorrow, but I'm not at all concerned about whether or not I'll like it, there's just no way I'll come out of there and say that it was bad! I liked Twilight, so I'm not giving any weight to the bad reviews.
Saw the midnight premiere in Boston and everyone was so annoyed that they literally showed EIGHT previews before the movie, lasted a half-hour, but then the last preview was for Remember Me. Wow.
New Moon was great, I won't do spoilers, but surprised at something they said to each other in the beginning, def a movie you have to see several times.
I loved it, but it did seem super edited, like there was SO much material to fit and they didn't know which one to choose. Obvious comment here, but our little boy Jacob looked amazing (yes, easy on the eyes) and Eduardo was too beautiful for words.
everyone keeps saying this so it sounds silly, but the werewolves honestly were done amazingly well, that was actually one of the best parts of the movie, made it more guy-friendly so to speak (translation:I can convince my boyfriend to go :) And, um, kissinf scenes were squeal-worthy. *sigh*
Chris Weitz and team did a fabulous job of touching base on key points of book. I was truly amazed. The audience at my midnight showing was respectful and attentive. Mostly non teens. Kristen really rocked it!! The emotions from Rob and Kristen were powerfully played. But above all, Rob is the main attraction!! RM trailer a definite plus.
@ Pet73 Trust me, Rob is great; amazing to show such emotion in so few words---this is Angsty Edward at his finest.
Ditto what rpgirl27 said about Book Jacob (annoying)---Taylor managed to actually get me to see the Bella/Jacob dynamic. Impressive!
And DAMN, Kristen rocked---Bella is so much of this movie. She literally (!) personifies Bella's agony that I felt was in the books.
Seen it twice now---yes, you will need to see it more than once to grasp it all---there's so much. LOVED Billy Burke---the father/daughter relationship is deeper/stronger.
And re those flipping neg reviews---I want to smack folks when they comment on, just one example, Kristen's lip biting (etc.); Bella does this in the books people! READ THEM!
This cast nailed their characters perfectly!
Thank you girls for all your reviews and comments on Robert's performance. I sooo much want Rob to stay around for a looong time and it just irks me that the critics are so bad.
But of course, it's the money that rules the world so I think exploding box office figures are more of a help to Robs career than the words of stupid critics. I hope you all continue to see the movie (and to show them the the prognostics about droping figures are wrong) to make NM a huge overall box office success!
But more than for NM I hope for RM. If RM is big at the box office it proves that people not only want to see Edward Cullen but they loooove to see Robert Pattinson on the big screen :). I def. do!
