Spoiler alert for trailer and article (below the cut)
With the release of the trailer for Robert Pattinson's upcoming movie "Remember Me"(above) moviefone discusses the similarities between "Remember Me" and "Twilight". gets David Ciminelli gives a really good review of the movie and talks positively about Rob's performance in the trailer.
You can head over to the moviefone website to have your say about if you think "Remember Me" looks good enough to make you go out on opening night to see it!
And here's the article. I've hidden it because there are a few little (but major) spoilers (not really anymore than what's in the trailer)
Robert Pattinson’s next non-vampire movie doesn’t open for another four months but that didn’t stop Summit Entertainment from riding on ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ buzz and releasing the trailer for his romantic drama ‘Remember Me’ a few days before the Nov. 20 release of the latest big screen offering from Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series. The British heartthrob puts his charisma and good looks to use as a brooding, misunderstood rebel without much of a cause except to reconnect with his distant father (Pierce Brosnan) following a family tragedy, and, of course, to get the girl.
A sort of stylized modern update of ‘Romeo & Juliet,’ ‘Remember Me’ centers around Tyler (Pattinson) and Ally (played by ‘Lost’s’ Emile de Ravin), two lost souls who try to heal their inner turmoil by delving into a wild and ready romance that’s threatened by their respective domineering parents.
It’s interesting to see Pattinson attempt to break away from his iconic ‘Twilight’ role by charging into a gritty, character-driven drama that looks to rely more on raw acting talent and explosive emotional scenes than it does special effects and morphing demons. However, the story’s setups of doomed romance, family conflict and the fight for personal redemption is reminiscent of ‘Twilight’ — and the fact that he’s donned in flannel and leaves his trademark tresses perfectly sculpted ala Edward Cullen doesn’t deter the comparison merely because he’s mortal this time around. What makes ‘Remember Me’ stand out on its own is the dramatic and stylish storytelling of director Allen Coulter, who has helmed episodes of ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Sex and the City’ and clearly knows how to bring out the best in his cast. The various scenes showcasing Pattinson, de Ravin, Brosnan and Chris Cooper (as Ally’s dad), prove it. The intensity of acting in the trailer, which features Pattinson effortlessly covering a variety of emotions, defines an actor coming of age whether Twihards are ready for it or not.
‘Remember Me’ comes across as a mature romantic drama that seems safe and simple enough for Pattinson’s young fan base to embrace as their tastes mature along with their moviegoing discretion. And if not, they can always grab their ‘Twilight’ trinkets and get in line now for the June 30, 2010 premiere of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’

I think Remember Me is gonna be the true test to see if Robert can deliver and carry a movie with his acting.
I dont think its similar to Twilight in any way, and i think this character "Tyler" is way more interesting that "Edward".
Its also going to be a test in terms of seeing if he Alone can carry a movie in terms of Box office success.
I totally agree with you Dilia and already feel sorry for Rob who is going to have to answer the questions regarding the similarities between Edward and Tyler and bla bla bla...
Good test to see how he can make it in a whole different role...
I'd like to see him play in a comedy, but not looking like his character in How to be ! Just looking like Rob and being funny and the English accent!
What the hell? Why do they want to try to find similarities to Twilight in everything he does? Geez...
I agree I don't think "Remember me" is similar to "Twilight" other than the fact that they are both romances (as such). I'd say seeing as it's his first movie since Twilight there are bound to be comparisons he's probably expecting it but look at it this way they won't be able to say "unbound Captivies" is like "Twilight" LOL ;-)
The trailer looks interesting... and I'm anxious to see how Rob's romantic acting skills come across with a different female. Will he continue to kiss like a pug? Let's hope he gets to "open up" a bit!
I think RM is going to be an okay film that will head straight to video. Only maybe this one will be worth buying. This material strikes me as something that they could offer some heavier weight actors as some light side work (paycheck)... and get some of their newer clients involved for stepping out in (experience).
No doubt Rob's contract with Summit includes doing some other projects beside the Twilight Saga. That's all I see in this.
Always wishing him the best... because I do think it can get WAY better with time.
Hey, does anyone happen to have a copy of the Remember me Script that they would be able to email me? I know it used to be available, but has since been taken down. I would really appreciate if someone could forward me a copy.
Thanks!
Uh, yeah! I think I can manage to get to RM on opening night to see Rob in bed! I think I can make that sacrifice, lol.
"Remember Me" is the movie the Rob has put all his best effort in. He worked very in this movie. I was at the location of this movie in NYC and i couldn't do what he did. He had to put up with the craziest of fans and pappz while doing the film. How could he concentrate in doing his part when everyone was flashing their lenses around him. But he did it with flying colors. "RM" will be a movie of Rob to remember.
RM is not going straight to video. It's scheduled for wide release.
Ugh, here we go!!! Some stupid interviewer asked him last week about this Being similar to twilight, and he was like this isn't similar at all!!!
What, because he falls for a girl????
There's no spoilers in the review or the trailer but you can tell how effing great Rob is in the
movie, and he's really able to show his emotions in those beautiful eyes without the contacts!!
I can not wait!!!
I have the script if you want to read it. Click on my profile and shoot me an email.

@ catherine...
Yes, I know it's gonna be released... but what I meant was, it's not gonna be a "blockbuster" film.
Like I said, I think it is one of several projects offered to Rob to fulfill Summit's contractual obligations to provide him with venues other than Twilight.
Could it turn out to be a sleeper... and become a "blockbuster"? Hope so... but I rather doubt it.
These are the early years people... Rob's got a lot of growing to do.
kisses...
I'm surprised to hear people comparing Tyler to Edward. From watching the trailer, I was thrilled to see Rob was able to make the character completely different from Edward Cullen. I think it is a thin argument to say he looks the same, of course he does, he looks like himself. But the acting showed an entirely different person, and I look forward to seeing this movie. I do agree this is the big test for him, and if the trailer is any indication, I think we're all gonna be lining up for Robert Pattinson movies for a long time to come. Thank God! ;-p
How can it be similar to Twilight?
"Remember Me" is not a fantasy love story. It's the story of a real person that everyone can relate to. He can be your brother, son, friend or even you. He reminds me of "James Dean" in Rebel w/o a Cause"
It will be a blockbuster, no doubt about it. He will be able to broaden his fanbase to include the male population who are left out by the Twi-saga. After all he has already captured the hearts of the female population. So this is good.
I saw the trailer and Rob is a much grittier character, and I was impressed with what I saw, I will definitely go and see it.
But not becase I'm looking for Edward Cullen but because I like Rob Pattinson's acting.
I can't see it being a runaway hit but it may very well be a sleeper and will probably do very well in DVD sales because it has Pattinson.
The storyline is interesting and the script that was leaked showed that it definitely has great potential for a good solid movie.
just a friendly peace of advice: DON'T READ THE SCRIPT!
I was sadly spoiled the end by some random a**hole in a forum thread title, and it's deffinitly unexpected. But I would rather have discovered it in the movie! It will change my movie experience, and that saddens me.
the too many scenes released for NM spoiled my movie experience too. We shouldn't have seen so many scenes in advance (I triend to stay away, but they put the trailer in interview videos, so I saw a couple of things).
I guess I am a spoilerphobe...
for everyone who has not read the script: PLIS DO NOT READ THE SCRIPT . it will help u enjoy the movie more. the script that has leaked is little bit diffrent with the actual movie, the change include the major cause of problem n the twist ending. so plis dont read the script
please.......... i begging you to send the remember me script.......ohayoirenchan@yahoo.com plissssssss
okay, i just found that script . thanks GOD.... i'm really like this movie............
I do not see any similaries between Tyler and Edward, from the trailer, Rpbert is definitly showing (again) that he is an excellent actor who is a lot more than just Edward.
I agree with the comments that said DO NOT READ the script. I also discovered the end on an imdb thread and I wish I hadn't. It's burned into my brain. I think this movie will be awesome. Two hours of fu*k hot Rob Pattinson!! What's not to like about that?? I'll be in the theater opening day fo sure.
@mya bluesky. Are you saying they changed the twist ending?? I sure hope so.....
I'm sorry but why is it that when an actor does two thrillers or action movies in a raw, nobody complains about the roles being similar. But if an actor does two romances in a raw then everything must be overanalyzed, and we must find any similarity so they can downplay said movie?
Just by the fact that it is romance, there will be some similarities with Twilight, because Twilight is a romance too. Just like action movies or suspense movies will be similar in a certain way no matter how different the storyline.
Also why do some people always harp about Twilight leaving out the male population.
I'll tell you what if a female can enjoy or at least tolerate a stupid comic book movie, then a male should have no qualms about watching Twilight and enjoying it for what it is, a beautiful/sweep you off your feet romance, about two people who are completely devoted to each other, and feel that they are unworthy of each other.
And hopefully RM will be as good as Twilight from the romance aspect, but of course with it's own original story.
Eh I just read who the director for this movie is (sex and the city, blech)...but I still hope that RM will turn out good.
Yeah, even if RM isn't the best, we need to give him time. I mean, look at Leonardo DiCaprio...they get compared a lot, I know, but it's a good comparison...I couldn't STAND the dude in Titanic and really anything in the few years following it. But now? He's awesome. And I have a feeling it's going to be years before we really see Rob in all his acting glory.
So will I see RM? Absolutely. Will I buy it? You bet. But it won't be because it's the best movie ever made. It'll be because I love Rob and want to see him in more stuff and the only way that's going to happen is if we keep supporting him.
after devouring every spoiler I could get my hands on for NM, and then regretting it when I first saw the movie, I am going to stay strong and avoid them for both RM and Eclipse-I'll watch trailers but no leaked stuff.
I am SO EXCITED for RM, you can clearly see from the trailer that he's become a completely different character here-the man can act, and he does it well. Anyone who suggests that Tyler and Edward or the stories are similar are just being lazy, IMHO! I really believe that this movie would stand on its own, without the Twilight hype, and I could, of course, be wrong, but I've got a feeling Rob feels the same. He's said several times that he doesn't want to be seen as someone who is looking to exploit his fame just for the sake of profit. He believes in the work that he does-and so do I! :)
Yes, the director and the script are extremely important to bring out the best of the actor. I am really looking forward to the explosive emotional scenes which strangely never ever happened in Twlight and NW. From the trailer, Rob is way more attractive than the cakey faced stiff Edward. But i just hope the movie is better than the trailer this time around. :)
I THINK REMEMBER ME IS GOING TO BE THE REAL TEST ABOUT HIS ACTING SKILLS.
I DON'T THINK TWILIGHT'S EDWARD AND REMEMBER ME'S TLYER ARE A LIKE AT ALL.
I DON'T WANT TO READ THE INTERVIEWS AND HEAR ABOUT ANY MORE SPOILERS. I WANT TO BE SURPRISED.
AND YES, I WILL BE THERE OPENING NIGHT FOR THE MOVIE. I WANT TO SUPPORT HIM IN ANYWAY I CAN!
FROM WATCHING THE TRAILER I THINK IT LOOKS LIKE A REALLY GOOD MOVIE.
SOME ROMANCE, SOME COMEDY, SOME DRAMA,
ROBERT IS SOMEONE YOU COULD NEVER FORGET. HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED!
L
OOPS, I SPELLED TYLER WRONG.
SORRY,
L
Robs acting is absolutely amazing in the RM trailer. I love the adorable way he looks at Emile when she has her back to him reaching up high on a shelf for something and the "ashtray/bowl" scene is so well done.
All of my friends who went with me to see New Moon will be standing in line waiting to see remember Me. We already have made plans.
By the way, does anyone know if that is Rob playing the guitar on the Trailer?
I guess you could say RM & Twilight are similar in that they both include Robert & a girl & there is some angst in their relationship...Other than that, I really don't see how anyone could compare the two. Of course, the cause of the angst is completely different & that cause is the crux of the whole movie. Of course his hair is similar, it's HIS hair...should he shave his head in his future movies, or maybe get a perm??? lol...I wonder if they will find similarities between Edward Cullen & Rob's character in Bel Ami???...wouldn't be surprised!!! I for one think Rob would be absolutely fantastic in a comedy, possibly romantic comedy? Think Cary Grant style...Cary Grant was a gorgeous ladies man but look how he pulled off comedy...genius. And I really think that could be a huge niche for Rob!
@Patricia Ahhh, yes! The ashtray/bowl scene is a perfect example of what I was saying about his ability to do comedy!
did anyone else notice that it listed Rob as one of the producers in the credits? very cool.
I can't wait for this movie and March can't come any sooner!
The trailer looks just awesome and makes me want to watch it countless times. Gahhh...
I think the reason why I became Robsessed is because of Twilight. Not because of the teen romance, or vampire love story, etc.
Even Rob said on Ellen show that the novels sold remarkably so much more after Twilight movie became such a blockbuster.
His fans truly do love and adore him as who he really is, as Robert Pattinson. And they will be dying to see all of future works outside of the Twilight saga.
He seems very talented and God has really gifted him with artistic side, such as singing, playing instruments, making music, writing and acting!
I think he is a good actor and will be even greater as the time goes...
All of Twilight saga fans love Rob and they will in turn will line up at the box office to see this movie on opening night. We are all so supportive, aren't we?
It will not go straight to video, No Way, highly unlikely..
I know I will be the first in line on that opening night!( as long as it's not a midnite showing. =)
