okay...i'm not trying to be a jerk but her story wasn't needed tonight and i know rob is nice to all his fans but he just looked extremely uncomfortable. i feel bad for the guy when he gets put on the spot at times like that
Rob handled that perfectly. That had the potential to be a very awkward moment. Good for her, too. She seemed really calm. At the very least, my hands and voice would be noticeably shaking. He is so sweet.
he handled it with Grace, and actually I think he could appreciate the story, it's more "real" then screaming fangirls wanting to jump his bones. And yes the girl "Courtney" who wore a bella's birthday dress would have done 10x's better then that Anya chick at co-hosting!
Hello Robert..my parents were killed by vampires two years ago..I thought of u straight away and u got me thro it....
nah I really don't think she's the kind of girl to just walk up and tell someone that..they told her to do it..she looked and acted fabulous..very pretty girl..the only thing that got me thro the other two talking tho was muting them and dubbing over them with friends on skype..LOL..gawd they were awful~!!!
It's obvious in this video how big Rob's heart is and how connected he can still be to the fans throughout this whole thing. He looked pretty touched by her story. This had the potential to be a really uncomfortable moment and, of course, our Rob handled it with such grace and eloquence. Videos like this just make me so damn proud of him! haha.
I thought Courtney handled herself really really well and did a fantastic job. I'm not sure I would've been able to handle myself as well as she did..
Let's not forget they 'asked' Courtney to share her story right then and there.. It's not like she pulled an Anya and did a bit of self-promo.. She probably felt a bit self conscious laying her soul open right then and there in front of millions of people.
He is such a gentleman. All things being equal, it was more important that she had this moment than that he be spared the momentary awkwardness.
That being said...What really bothered me was the inappropriate approach on the part of the fake-facebook hosts. They introduced her story like it was the Price-Is-Right showcase or something. Talk about tacky.
Awkward and poor timing, but Rob showed that HE is something special, far beyond the character he portrays or the saga he is part of. Grace, charm, wit, quick on his feet and a schmexy eyeful.... Rob in a nutshell!
I really don't think they should have blind sided him with that story. That had the potential for becoming a really bad moment. What if she didn't stay calm? What would they have done if she had started sobbing? End the interview with Rob? Dragged her away? If they were going to do it, it should have been off camera.
Thank you so muc for posting this interview. I managed to get Kristen and Taylor's interview but my live feed went out during Rob's. Rob is so sweet! Hope he never changes.
ITA with Marna, but thankfully she was remarkably composed (I would have cried, I know it!) and Rob was such a gentleman...all that crazy going on and he only had 2 minutes to give, and he really listened and reacted to her story. I've fallen in love with him all over again. :))
I feel they sorta took advantage of this girl's tragedy, just to have a sentimental moment between fan and robert. Like poor Robert is thinking he's getting an interview and then her first sentence is about her best friend dying. I felt like Mspace put both the young fan and Robert in a horribly awkward situation.
Rosa, that's exactly how I feel, they did a disservice to Rob & the girl. Plus, they had no time to interview Rob to begin with, so they used up whatever they had with the story, and the story didn't really have anything to do with Rob, it was about the book. They should have had SM hear the girl's story.
i do think it was poor taste to blindside him with that story but i think courtney did an amazing job- they were just kind of like "hey! tell him your sad story"...thats a lot of pressure on her and him. but i think they both handled it gracefully and he did look really touched, even @ 1:13 he looked really emotional or something...
Rob looked a bit nonplussed by this but he held it together. Really, should have been done off camera, not fair on this girl or him. The presenters were just seeking a mawkish on-air moment. The girl showed great dignity however and glad that she got to go to the premiere and meet Rob.
All of my anxiety over watching this situation unfold (let's face it, it could have been a terrible moment for both) vanished when Rob opened his mouth to respond. What a winning response to an unexpected interview premise. He was able to pull out that kind, genuine response while girls are screaming his name and people are chanting "Robert." What a winner!
I think discussing the profundity of the book with the actors who bring the story to life is an appropriate topic for premeire night. However, this sweet girl's story had the worst "set up" ever thanks to seemingly insensitive and tactless interviewers.
My thoughts exactly! What if she had started to cry right there in front of him? I bet the interviewers even hoped for that to happen *rolls eyes*....that was extremly awkward for me to watch. I hate it if people get emotionally exposed at the expense of others just to maybe get a good story, disgusting! Thank heavens the both handled that very well.
What do y'all mean if it was appropriate? Real life stuff like that happens, and it wasn't like she was crying telling her story, it was clear the Twilight books/the movies/the cast really helped her through that. I agree that it did not have to be filmed though, that would have probably made it more special for the girl, and less strange for Rob (knowing his reaction to this is being taped) but for Rob I think he is amazing and really has gotten used to being himself no matter what is going on around him, bless him.
I think y'all are wrong. Rob was touched by her story. And that was a great REAL moment besides all the screaming fangirls. And Rob got that and said he knew the stories meant more to people. Courtney said the character of Edward helped her through the rough time in her life. And she won the contest for that story. And it gave her an opportunity to be there to meet Rob. Kadus felt it was the right moment. I mean when is she going to see Rob again? The after party probably was not apart of the package deal.
Y'all really need to re-watch that vid and to see it for what it was. Something heartfelt and real. Rob is around so much fuckery day after day. And I'm sure it pleases him to hear that his work helped someone in some way.
I agree with you ladies. They were both put on the spot and Courtney did a great job - in a rushed, chaotic situation she got out her story out and was respectful and aware. Rob was genuinely sweet and kind and handled the surprise being sprung on him. You can see he is truly a good guy - nothing forced or phony about his reaction.

Wow, he is such a sweetheart. I'm sure stories like that just amaze him. She was way more composed than I would have been.

Way to handle it Rob...in your Oscarlicious suit.

Big kisses for you Suz, thanks for the gifts.

Marna - You've hit it exactly, and this is what makes Courtney's demeanor all the more impressive. She held it together.

I was cringing when they made her share her essay premise. But rob pulled it off well.

the girl who win the contest did quite a good job... I think... far much better than than Anya (even if I love her song..)
despite, not sure her story should have been here... anyway...
but Rob handled it so well... what a gentleman...!
and he's so generous with his fans...
arf... wish I could have been there...!
