♫♫♫ O Sole Mio ♫♫♫
So the story goes like this:
I flew from South Carolina to LA to meet up with a bunch of peeps from LTR/LTT. I got in the line at 2:00 on Sunday with security telling me that I was probably about 575 of 600 people to get a ticket for a wristband. Everything that could have gone wrong did. :) There I stood with a suitcase and backpack on the sidewalk with no blanket, pillow, sleeping bag, no nothing. Thankfully, MsJBell and Cyn_TR got there about an hour later. We did get tickets. I was number 523. We slept out on the sidewalk in the cold with only hoodies to keep us warm.
The next morning we DID get wristbands, but just barely. I think they let about 20 more people after us go on the red carpet. I was on the back line and couldn't see anything due to all the fans and their signs.

I started looking for an out of the way spot and found it at the end of the carpet area. I was facing the Entertainment Tonight interview stage. It was about 15 feet away. This put the carpet to my left. I figured that I would at least be able to see HIM being interviewed by ET.
I ended up making friends with Officer Great (Gozde: I edited her name out, we don't want this lovely officer getting in trouble ;)) of the LAPD. She said that she was a huge fan of Rob's but couldn't act like it because she was working. I joked that if she would just usher him my way that I would take pictures and send them to her. We had a good laugh.
The stars started coming and she started pushing them my way. It was incredible. I spoke with Chris Weitz and Stephenie Meyer.
Then, wait for it, Rob arrived! I was taking pictures of his eyebrows and hair. Whatever I could get because I didn't think he would come over to the end corner. Officer Great DELIVERED! She just waved him over. He signed two or three posters and was very smiley, happy. I didn't have anything for him to sign because I didn't think I would get close. (should have remembered the Boys Scout motto - Always be prepared) I asked him if he would shake my hand and he just reached out to do it.
This man has the softest hand I've ever felt. His hand is absolutely HUGE! He did have long fingernails that I assume are for playing the guitar. He accidentally scratched my ring finger while shaking. He said thank you and then giggled. His eyes disappeared in those crinkles that we all love. He was so very adorable. His eyes were amazingly blue.
I turned to MsJBell and said "Did you see that?!" She just laughed. He went over to ET and did his interview and I just snapped away. I did, however, stand back and enjoy the moment that His Holy Hotness just spoke to me and touched me. Now I can die a happy woman. DEAD.
With love from Rob's handshake,
Phyllis

wow this is very nice! u r so lucky! congrats! haha but when i play the guitar, i always keep my fingernails short...
HAhaha the holy scratch.
Too bad it will heal, but your heart never will from having touched and loved him only to see him leave. LOL
Long nails? I blame the hobo thing - he's just unkempt.
Or wait - what if the nails are so he can thread needles easier? We all know how he likes to sew... :P
Jealous. Would love to touch the hoboliciously long fingernails and stare into the blue eyes.
Great report - thanks for sharing and wow, what beautiful pictures you took! Love them!
Great story. Diligence can really pay off, it seems. What a chance of a lifetime. I am so jealous, but appreciate that others share their good fortune with the rest of us. Pics of Mr. Hot are fab!!! What a memory to keep! Another reason to support your local police-hahaha!
These are the best fan pics i've seen in a long time. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm so happy things worked out and that officer great;-) was a fan. What luck! He looked heavenly that night.
Soooo jealous! What an awesome experience. Love the pics, especially the ones with hands in hair and and the lip biting one...yum. Just to think you have some Rob DNA on you, something I have only dreamed of (only in a much different way). Thank for sharing!
Those are great photos and a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing them both with us. He looked amazing that night. How did you resist the urge to kiss the neck mole when it was RIGHT THERE?
God...Phoda do you read minds? I was thinking exactly the same. This man's body is full of secrets. Was I ever so delighted to see a mole?
I am flying to London tomorrow, I only wish...sometime someplays somewhere. I have made up amazing stories about my being in London for a week. A woman can only dream....
OMG, I so envy you!!!
Meeting him is one thing, but getting to touch him is a totally another case. You're the luck-luck-luckiest girl in the whole world.
Another thing:
I know that Robert is an adorable guy and always nice to his fans, but I didn't know that anyone could be that nice. I've already read some fan stories about meeting with Rob during the NM promotion time and all those stories are so beautiful and show how sweet and gorgeous person he is to the people that he sees for the first time and whom he doesn't know at all. I mean, he's just so perfect and ... so real
Great story & love the pics, thanks for sharing! Rob has the look lol!
Poor baby! I cant believe you went throgh all that and didnt pack your Rob blanky. I hope the otha gals kept you warm. As much as I love ROb I dont think I can stand sleeping outside on the sidewalk. My question is-how didja pee dude? what if youre hungry? you guys cant step out of line can you?? tell tell...Im sure Rob is very appreciative of your gallant efforts. Your a true fan. My lazy a$$ will admire from afar..for now
Oh the long nails Im guessing is for guitar playing
wow, that is awesome! and your pics are amazing-the one of him biting his lip...gah! lucky you!:)
This is such a cool story!
Thank you, Phyllis, for sharing it with us!
Rob sounds like such a down-to-Earth-guy. So real.
What a wonderful experience...
GAH @ the handshake, crinkled eyes, and THE SCRATCH!
(lol, he's leaving his mark... I know, too much fanfic)
xo
I love Rob and all but personally I cannot imagine flying all that way and waiting in all those crowds and sleeping in the cold and going to all that trouble just for a few pictures and a handshake. I guess it is just a good thing that you did get good pix, and a handshake.
Classical guitarists will have shorter nails on their left hand and longer nails on their right (if they are right handed) to be able to pick the strings with their nails - not sure Rob is really thinking that with his nail choice but ....maybe.
Wow girl, I admire your determination and I'm so glad it paid off for you! You got to touch the ONE....congrats!
Thank you for your great story and pictures!
You got a love scratch from ROB! wow!
I am glad to know that his eyes are blue. Sometimes it is hard to tell in some of the pics. as they seem a bit green or maybe gray? Or, they may change with what he wears? I like that he has big hands. Very manly.
Hey, it's Phyllis. Just wanted to answer some questions and address some comments.
Yes, we could pee and eat. There was a 24 hr grocery store behind us. We were allowed to leave for short breaks. I had a hotel room and I did shower before the premiere. Can't go around being smelly. :-)
As far as flying across the country to see Rob, well that's not the real reason. I flew out to meet up with about 10 great new friends that I've made over the last year. Rob was just gravy - yummy, delicious, British gravy.
I am a grown woman married with 2 kids. I lead a very mundane, responsible life. Every now and then it's nice to drop those responsibilities and go have some good, old-fashioned, goofy fun.
Look at it this way. I did my part to stimulate the economy. That's a perk of being a responsible adult; disposable income. ;-)
Hope y'all have a fabu day! <3
VERY nice pix! The man is just so darn gorgeous! And those hands! Gah!
I love the one where he looks a little overwhelmed. And the one where he's biting his lip...and that other one where he's just so...
Thanks for sharing your pix and your story! Sweet Robness.
Re Phyllis, I hear ya! I also am happily married, with two kids.
Absolutely agree with you on taking time out for good, goofy fun---especially if it's wrapped up in a yummy British accent. Life is way too short to not ENJOY it!
What an amazing story Phyllis!!! It pays to be nice and patient as well,..
I can't even begin to to tell how envious I am... Not only did you get up see him you got to hold THAT hand, Here THAT
giggle and see THOSE eyes up close- wow..
If you look at his nails in movies as well you'll see that he keeps them long.. It is for the guitar..
Thanks for sharing!!!
Oh the photos??? Died...
Cool story. My husband has his nails long on his right hand for playing the guitar (kind of weird when you notice). I always keep short fingernails even though I play, but I'm really not very good...so...
Oh, God, he looks good!!!!
I love the 'V' on his neck...
yumm...yumm...yumm...
ok that 7th one is just funny..lol..but between the last post of his thumb and tongue and this post with the biting of the lip..COUGAR SAYS RAWR..LOL ;)
Thanks, Gozde. I love you for posting the most amazing shots of Rob and keeping us all entertained day after day after day!
Love:
-the mole
-haircut
-lip biting
-almost yawn (in #7)
-long fingernails...not so much, but I can get over it.
LOL that pic under the music notes and Oh Solo Mio...LMAO!!
And I love the haircut he has now or then that is...just the right lenght and still messy enough to fit his trademark messy hairdo yet styled enough to fit in when he's all cleaned up for premiere stuff hehe.
I ENVY YOU!!! What a great experience!!! To touch him... I would probably faint!
Sunday afternoon and you still got a wristband? That's some awesome luck!
I was there too. I got there Friday in the early AM. I'm local so it wasn't so bad.
Did you see the people that flew in from Australia? Crazy.
Here's my experience with Rob. My heat still pounds re-living the experience. =D

VERY cool story! I'm glad that I've read nothing but positive comments regarding his encounters with fans. He truly understands the responsibilities associated with being in such a privileged position and seems to take it very seriously...and for that, he TRULY deserves all the success that he's received and will continue to receive. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely story and pictures with us!
It was nice to hear that you are a "mature" fan with another life, but still did this. Lady Luck was shining on you, but I also think you have a winning smart personality, you obviously said the right things to Officer Great. It was about the moment and boy did you nail it. Amazing pictures, I guess everyone noticed the mole, which I like to call the beauty mark, behind his right ear below the hairline. Thanks for sharing this!
Tip:
Next time, just have him sign any clothing article, that is if you forgot to bring a picture or a book for Rob to sign.
If you don't want a permanent marker on your expensive shirt, shoes, bag, etc., just have him sign the inside of lapel, inside hem of your shirt, sleeve, or skirt, or your pants.
OMG...DNA from Rob's fingernail! LOL You are a lucky woman indeed! I think all of us would be happy to get wounded by Rob. ;D I don't know about sleeping on the sidewalk though...that is dedication! And boy were you rewarded! Your photos are absolutely awesome, too. Thanks for sharing them here on the blog!
I think it's amazing that you did this- life is too short- why not enjoy it a little!! What an incredible experience you had- something that you will remember for the rest of your life. I'm so envious as I would love to see him in person and get a scratch- haha!! :) I also think those are some of the best fan photos I have seen in a long time, and thank you for sharing the experience with all of us!
