I like JD, but never really thought of him as a heart throb..maybe it's the age thing..
Rob is Rob to me...but he's being compared to a really good actor, and that is awesome!
Let's hope he's the new Johnny Depp, he's forged a great career path out of the ashes of teen idolhood, and that's what I'm hoping for robert too.
I've said that from day one. I'm a big Johnny Depp fan and Rob's choices in movies has always made me think of Johnny's choices as well.
Rob sort of blows JD out of the water, but they feel a need to put a relatable label on him for some reason.
my only other heartthrob was johnny depp, that pic from 21 jumpstreet days reminds me of high school, i was in love with him back then, still like him now.
but now my new obsession is rob, i love that they are comparing them. that would be great if rob & johnny worked on a movie together :))
I think you should do a comparison of Rob and Leo Dicaprio as well ;o) ...some of Rob's photoshoots mirror Leo's in a very eerie, yet hot as hell, way.
If Rob's career turns out to be anything like Leo's...it's going to be fanfreakintastic.
Johnny Depp is an apt comparison. Depp has musical roots, stronger than his acting roots in some ways. He started out as a "pretty face," but systematically tore down that reputation by doing offbeat roles, and working with offbeat directors like John Waters. Both are gorgeous, but play down the looks. And both seem more interested in longevity and good work instead of being the biggest star on the planet.
God, how gorgeous was Johnny Depp as a young thing? Breathtaking with those cheekbones. I think Robert will have an interesting career if he chooses to stay in it. Both seem to march to the beat of their own drummer, and I love them both for it.

I agree rosa! They are both musically inclined, both shy and very humble about themselves and their performances. Very talented and rather have a really good script that make a blockbuster movie. Johnny Depp and Rob in the same movie . . . I think my panties would burst into flames from that!! :)~
Rob and Leo? Now that would be the death of me!
I see Rob more on the line of Leo DiCaprio,(don't get me wrong, love Johnny as well!) simular movie choices, good looks, quick rise to celebrity as well as loyal fans. Met both in person and it was hard to ignore the simularities.. IMO.
Why do people keep acting like he's making all these indie choices in spite of being in Twilight, when he made those choices long before he ever did Twilight? He hasn't made ANY "quirky" kind of choices. In fact, he's playing a college student in RM, & another older teen role in UC. Between that & Twilight, he isn't playing older than 20. We won't even see him in a role where's he's an adult until Bel Ami. He needs to step away from the teenager roles.
I love JD but oh Rob, Way Better. I definitely see similarities in the two. I don't think either one of them can even view their work on the bigscreen.
Just Love THEM BOTh but Rob 10 times more. JD was my heartthrob until Rob came along....
@rpattzgirl ~ totally off subject but I think the pic for your avi is a manip! I've seen this pic around like forever but when I looked at it closer it didn't seem right. Look at his hands, especially his fingers. They don't look like Robs. They look shorter and not as smooth. Also his arms look more buff and shorter than Robs. Am I nuts or do you see that too? Let me know here or on twitter!

I don't want to offend anyone, but Leo DiCaprio (it took him almost 10 years to lose his babyface) or any other actor is nothing in comparison with Johnny Depp. Johnny has always been special, different, unique, both as an actor and as a person. He always stays true to himself. It's awful, that the Acadamy always ignored him because of his independence :(.
Okay, there's probably one exception when it comes to talent: Robert Downey, Jr. He's the best actor of our times - of course IMO so please don't throw tomatoes at me :p.

Well...to me Rob is Rob. He's the first and only actor I've ever liked/loved! I never felt like this for any of them (I did not understand girls who love actors or singers!) And here I am!! Robsessed as hell! :D
Johnny Depp was also my celeb crush before Rob came along and blew him out of the water.Don't get me wrong, I still love sexy Johnny,especially as Jack Sparrow, but I gotta admit it,Rob is Rob is Rob and what else can I say?????When you look at Johnny and see how well he has aged looks-wise, can you imagine how Rob is going to look at that age? Rob will still be SO FINE when he's older,thats for sure.

No offence taken...but not comparing JD to LD...just stating that RP has more in common as a parallel to LD. 10 yrs huh? I agree to disagree w/that point...did This boys life w/Rob DiNero...Basketball Diaries, Whats eating Gilbert Grape w/Johnny, Marvins Room w/Meryl Streep, Total Eclipse ( which was a bi-sexual movie..as in LA)...Romeo and Juliette, Titanic, Man w/Iron Mask, The Beach and the list goes on and is still going on...his star was off the charts w/R&J then when Titanic came out he had to deal w/the same celebrity mayhem as Rob is dealing with now...Johnny is a great actor and I truly love him..but he has not dealt with the intense level of celebrity as LD/RP have...the "Beatle like" type that is. Sorry for all the sp errors...to lazy to re-read!! lol!

OMG! I LOVED Johnny Depp, especially in "Edward Scissorhands"!! But I never thought of him as a "heart throb"...not to say he's not good looking, because he is...but he's no Rob...and I'm a 34 yr. old woman...
OK...I had to re-post after I looked at that pic for a minute...Johnny is F-I-N-E (would YOU kick him outta bed?), but he IS NO Rob!! I STILL (even after drinking MUCH wine) would snatch Rob up WITH A QUICKNESS!!) LOL!! Who loves ya baby?? ;)
