The article actually started with Stephen King calls Twilight bull^%$? And it is about ten cheesy things, and ten novel things about the plot. Cheesy things include: (1) Another Cinderella story (2) Two guys with a girl, similar to a Korean soap opera (korean soap operas are BIG in China) (3) The heros always save the beauties (4) Another love story between humans and undead (5) Dialogue (quoting lamb and lion, and "you are my life now") sounds like love story written by a famous Taiwanese writer (6) Still using the plot of Romeo and Juliet? (7) Vampires have to be beautiful and talented (citing interview with vampire) (8) Vampires' super power (citing Ann Rice) (9) Werewovles against vampire is an old plot (10) The idea of Voturi, or a "vampire committee," is not new...
The ten new points: (1) This new modern vampire does not have the bad old habit, instead, he is elegant, handsome, smart, and rich (2) Victorian romance story (3) Edward is such a gentlemen and so devoted -- a perfect boyfriend character (4) A not so typical "Mary Sue" Mary Sue (5) SM has her own mythology system (vampires, werewolves, etc.) (6) The amount of fantasy elements in the story is just right (7) lovable supporting characters (e.g. all the Cullens) (8) The essence of the story is relatable to american teens (9) Cool soundtracks and production (10) Idolized stars -- about Rob, Kristen, and Robsten. The part mentions Rob talks about his hairstyle, body, and voice.
I wouldn't read the article too closely, since it's rather typical for Chinese to trash works that are loved by a lot of people. If they do not cirticize such thing is distain, they lose power and superority (to what? i never get. i'm only saying this 'cause i am part of that sort of culture). In other short words: IT'S ALL CRAP! They don't know anything! But the pics are awesome, even though they are not new.
"Chinese to trash works that are loved by a lot of people" ? -- I think that is what critics do in general. They did give some credits to SM. The parts that talk about Rob, yeah, a bit sarcastic. This is a reputable movie magazine in China though. Not that I want to read too closely what they say.
But i have to admit Twilight is kinda cheesy especially the last 2 books. Eclipse is rather boring. Still Edward is such a dream regardless of the shallow story. How can a girl resist a perfect guy who loves you so much and protect you so much especially when he is played by Rob? :)
And Rob is the most novel thing. :)I don't think the writer of this article understands the whole Rob phenomenon yet.
